Hibernian host Glasgow giants Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday lunchtime. Hibs have endured a decidedly mixed start to the new campaign, following up an opening day victory with a 95th-minute equaliser in the Edinburgh derby, Lee Johnson's side lost away to Livingston last weekend.

Rangers experienced their own range of emotions in the space of 90 exhilarating minutes against PSV Eindhoven in midweek. The Gers drew 2-2 at Ibrox in the first leg of their final Champions League qualifier after falling behind and taking the lead. Here's everything you need to know about the meeting between this up and down duo. A draw against Hearts was followed up by a 2-1 loss at the hands of Livingston in their most recent outing, which is something that they will now be attempting to put behind them. The Hibees fell behind in the sixth minute of that game, but an equaliser from Nohan Kenneh seemed to provide Lee Johnson's team with some hope, only for them to concede an 86th-minute goal in the 86th minute.

Last season the club finished eighth, which they are aiming to improve upon, with a potential victory at the weekend giving them the chance to potentially move up to third place. In order to do that Hibernian will need to do something that they failed at last season, which is defeat Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers were dominant in their performances against the Hibees in the SPL during the 2021-22 campaign which led to them picking up nine points from their three matches. Ultimately, those results were not enough for Rangers to win the title as they fell short of the mark, but they have immediately started this season in strong form as they look to get back on top.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has witnessed his team win all three of their opening league games in impressive fashion, with the latest outing seeing them defeat St Johnstone 4-0. All four goals came from different players in that match, showcasing the attacking qualities that the Gers have across the squad, while their defensive abilities were just as clear as they secured their second clean sheet of the season. Rangers also continued their European campaign in midweek with a 2-2 draw against PSV where Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence got on the scoresheet, with their second leg taking place next week.

Both Rocky Bushiri and Josh Campbell are in contention to be available for Hibernian this weekend after returning to training during the week, which would provide a major boost to Johnson's options.

Saturday's fixture will come too soon for Kyle Magennis though, who has been on the shelf for 11 months, as he is not expected to be back on the grass in team sessions until the end of this month, while Aiden McGeady is also unavailable due to a knee ligament problem. Kevin Nesbit has been involved in some aspects of training, but he is also not expected to be available for the Hibees yet, and Demetri Mitchell is also injured due to a hamstring problem. The rainy season usually puts a damper on our plans. Al fresco dining has mostly been the sought-after setup during the pandemic, but when the rainy months arrive, how can we enjoy these outdoor experiences? Don’t worry, because The Island has got us covered with their fully tented al fresco dining venue as well as a new Dinner Menu that promises comfort food and nostalgia with their new take on Filipino dishes.

You can find The Island at The Palace Manila complex in Uptown Bonifacio, right beside the Uptown Mall on 9th Avenue corner 32nd Street in Bonifacio Global City. It is one of the country’s biggest outdoor restaurants and is open from Thursday to Sunday from 6:00pm to late in the evening. Head out to The Island with your officemates after a long workweek or go on a night out with your friends for a night of good food and awesome drinks.

It was a rainy Friday evening when we went to The Island but we really just wanted to relax and enjoy the evening after a very tiring week. It was still quite early in the evening so thankfully there weren’t any long lines yet. Reservations are highly encouraged but walk-ins will also be accommodated depending on availability.

Patrons will enjoy dining with friends and family in this very colorful and huge outdoor establishment. No need to worry about the rain because the place is fully covered from the rain clouds, so you can still enjoy the cool breeze and the trendy ambiance even during the rainy season.

There are several dining areas to choose from at The Island, each with its own quaint charms. You can choose a table near the bar if you are hungry and want some quick orders.

This area is best suited for big groups but there are also some cozy dining spots on the side for more intimate dates.

If you are coming here for post-dinner drinks, then the sofas and tables at the center of The Island should be the spot for you and your friends. This is also closer to the DJ booth so you can dance and party the night away.

The Island also offers a couple of private VIP rooms for exclusive events like birthday parties, graduation parties, corporate activities, or any other celebration you can think of.

These rooms can accommodate bigger groups and come with their own bars as well.

Come early because The Island has its Happy Hour promotions from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Take advantage of their Buy 1 Take 1 offers with shots starting at only P80. You can also order some cocktails like Darla’s Fizz (P320), a creamy concoction made with gin, strawberry, soy milk, and egg white. There's also the Legends of the Hidden Temple (P320) which is a Yes, Please classic. This comes with a mix of bourbon, green mango, tamarind, and lime as a twist to the classic whisky sour.

On the other hand, you can also go for some healthier beverages like the Lemon Yakult Shake (P150) or fruit shakes like the Watermelon Shake (P150).

But the main reason I am here is to try The Island’s brand new menu. The Palace Manila’s Head Chef Ron Cruz pays tribute to our Filipino heritage and created a delectable lineup of local Filipino dishes. These will give you a taste of home with dishes that our moms and lolas would cook for the family.

We ordered the Cheesy Baked Oysters (P390) for our starters. These yummy oysters are baked with quickmelt cheese and garlic miso butter. Each piece was topped with generous amounts of cheese so I really enjoyed eating them.

Since everyone was drinking, we also tried the Crispy Drunken Shrimp (P520) so even the shrimp could get in the action. These white shrimp are deep-fried with hibe, fried onions, and spiced vinegar to create a tasty bite-sized appetizer.

We were quite curious about the Mussels and Oyster Sisig (P620) so we had to try it for ourselves. Instead of the usual pork sisig, this is a healthier seafood version which comes with calamansi soy, cream, onion, and chili.

Of course, we couldn’t have a proper Filipino dinner without rice, so we chose to get the indulgent Aligue Rice (P240). One order is good for up to three persons, but this is just right for my husband and me. The aligue rice is cooked with aligue butter and topped with onion frites to complete the dish.

The Ginger Garlic Crispy Tilapia (P470) is a crispy fried tilapia cooked with ginger garlic oil and served with patis sweet chili and salted egg tartare. It’s a good companion to our meaty main course which we are eager to dive into.

We couldn’t wait to get our hands on the Sizzling Short Ribs (P965). This big sizzling plate comes with big cuts of short ribs doused in truffle gravy and served with french beans, roasted garlic, and shiitake confit. It’s honestly good for up to three persons so we really enjoyed having this all to ourselves.

Groups and barkadas can also order their Boodle Feast which is good for 5 to 6 people. For our dessert, we went for the Mango Graham Wafer Meringue (P310) with its mango chutney and graham streusel topped with whipped cream.

The Island at The Palace is still one of the most popular nightlife destinations here in the city. HOA Fraudster Avece Higbee

In Las Vegas Avece Higbee is an HOA lawyer for the Meridian luxury condos and she has assisted the Meridian HOA President Michael Schurer in keeping his business IMS Realty under the radar while he pilfered from the Meridian HOA. This is how the scam worked. Michael Schurer would break the law each election by not disclosing his business, as required by law. With the support of the Meridian Board of Directors Michael Schurer used the HOA staff and facilities for his business while shielding his clients from fines and using quid pro quo arrangements with vendors in which he would penalize his non-clients for not using “his” vendors.

Michael Schurer built up his client base to over 800 residents at the Meridian and it’s still unknown how much he has swindled from the HOA, but let’s examine the role of Avece Higbee who is supposed to be working as a legal advisor for the Meridian HOA.

This is an important job. Everything is supported by rules and laws in an community like this. It’s important that rules are followed and that when needed a lawyer will make decisions based on the application of law to support the overall good of the community.

Let’s examine Avece Higbee’s record.

Her legal rulings include;

1. Michael Schurer can use the HOA charging station for his personal golf cart

2. Michael Schurer does not have to disclose his business during elections

3. A candidate statement needs to be removed from an election because it contains information about Michael Schurer’s undisclosed business that is pilfering from the HOA and this is libelous

4. A state investigation that reveals theft, altering an election and numerous state laws being broken by the President and board of directors should be hidden from members of the community because it’s “confidential.”

The Nevada Real Estate Division was tasked with investigating Avece Higbee and her legal decisions and advice and here is what they determined.

1. Michael Schurer was breaking the law by using the HOA charging station

2. Michael Schurer was breaking the law by not disclosing his business during elections

3. There was no meeting conducted to seek a legal opinion so Avece Higbee skirted the Meridian HOA rules to give a non-HOA approved document to Michael Schurer in order to alter an election, which kept residents in the dark about Michael Schurer’s under the radar operation that was pilfering from the Meridian HOA

4. A state investigation is confidential from the perspective of the state. In other words the NRED is bound not to disclose information from the investigation however it is the fiduciary duty of the Board of Directors to inform the community if laws were broken by themselves and the HOA President. Avece Higbee has the moral and legal duty to share the laws that were broken in the community not suppress that information!

Avece Higbee also made an appearance at a public meeting for Meridian homeowners in 2019 in which she was tasked with informing homeowners about the state investigation. She was vague to the point of complete obscurity and incomplete and untruthful in her account. She gave no relevant information at all and even stated they (the BOD, President and her) were completely “transparent” and gave investigators “all the documents they requested.” That was not true.

The report reads, “The Division request(ed) a copy of the legal opinion but Ms. Hibee and the board of directors cited attorney-client privilege as a reason not to provide it.”

Avece Higbee has billed the HOA at the Meridian thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars through her prestigious law firm Marquis, Aurbach and Coffing and her “services” include breaking the Meridian CC&Rs to alter an election, support the President in breaking the law by keeping his business and transgressions in the dark, suppress a state investigation from reaching homeowners and giving incomplete and inaccurate details about that state investigation at a public meeting.

How is this not HOA fraud? How has Avece Higbee avoided being disbarred and serving time in prison?

The answer to these questions are rather troubling. The NRED has no authority to sanction HOA lawyers and an HOA lawyer cannot be disbarred for any HOA related matters.

If you are a criminal operating an illegal operation by stealing from an HOA Avece Higbee is exactly the type of lawyer you would want to hire.

Higbee and Associates has also operated a morally repugnant Legal Trolling Scam that was exposed by award winning Las Vegas journalist Lexi Jones.

A lot of money goes into information websites that promote lawyer integrity and you will even find Avece Higbee listed on some of these sites and maintaining a stellar reputation despite all the evidence from a state investigation and recorded meetings at the Meridian leading a reasonable person to conclude Avece Higbee has been subverting the law and using her position to profit regardless of the negative consequences to the community she has been entrusted to serve.

It is incumbent upon those who pay HOA dues to know what is going on in their communities. Only a forensic audit initiated by Meridian homeowners and directed at Michael Schurer’s property management business IMS Realty and Avece Higbee’s self-serving actions will uncover the full extent of what has been swindled from Meridian homeowners.

It could very well be in the millions.

You probably wouldn’t find a lawyer working for a prestigious law firm taking these kinds of huge risks without a significant amount of fraud to hide.

Psychonauts Daemon AU

The concept of daemons is borrowed from the His Dark Materials series. A daemon is a person’s soul manifested outside of their body in a tangible, physical form, which permanently settles into the form of the animal that most resembles them in character as the individual matures. Human and daemon are not separate beings, but two halves of one mental coin, which means that they each know everything the other does, thinks, and senses. Dæmons are almost always the opposite gender of their human counterparts, and have a distinct personality compared to their humans to a certain degree, as human and daemon represent different aspects of the same whole.

(Since Raz is only ten years old in Psychonauts, he’s rather young and not necessarily settled yet. This is just me guessing what form his soul might settle as, the way he’s going now.)

Carrion crows can be solitary nesters, but they also form monogamous pair bonds and mate for life. They may end up forming family groups with their young, and during the winter they will join mixed species flocks of birds, showing a flexible social structure. Carrion crows are highly intelligent birds and have proven to be very quick learners. They have many innovative ways of solving problems and obtaining food, such as dropping shelled nuts on the road so cars can run over the hard food and open it for the crows to eat. These crows will make their nests out of anything available and have a very wide diet, including but not limited to carrion, bugs, human scraps, nuts, and berries. They will also steal food from birds of prey and foxes when given the chance. Carrion crows will confront large birds of prey and any other birds that might invade their territory, even joining in mobs with their neighbors to help fight off offenders. These bold birds will go anywhere there’s food, being wary but not especially fearful of humans. Carrion crows can be very playful and will often do things like slide down snowy hills for fun. They also have a strange obsession with fire and often bring burning materials back to their nests, when most other animals would avoid fire entirely.

Raz is persevering, confident, and supportive. Lumistea is Raz’s problem-solving, practical, adaptable side. Both sides are quite playful.

Name Analysis:

Lumistea is an amalgamation of the Romanian words for “bright” (luminos) and “star” (stea).

LILI ZANOTTO + DEMETRIO (MAHOGANY GLIDER)

(Same deal as Raz. Lili is still too young to really settle, but this is my guess as to what form her soul might take based on how her personality is currently developing.)

Pairs of mahogany gliders are monogamous, and each pair will aggressively attack other gliders that invade their territory. Despite being socially monogamous, pairs tend to forage alone and sleep in separate dens. Foraging alone makes the species less conspicuous to predators like owls, so their independence is mostly in defense against predators on their part. Mahogany glider pairs defend their territory by each patrolling borders separately. This patrol is called a “foraging loop”, because it allows them more coverage, as well as allowing them to identify new food sources in their territory. The species is omnivorous and will change its diet seasonally in order to get the most nutrients out of available food rather than sticking with just one type of food. A pair has 6-13 dens within their territory so that they don’t have to always return to the same den when they make their foraging loop. Despite being rather quiet, these gliders have a high metabolism and are very active and mobile. They often prefer more open habitats so they can make longer glides from the tops of tall trees, which suits their larger body size.

Lili is defensive, proactive, and stubborn, while Demetrio shows her more anxious, quiet, and sentimental side.

SASHA NEIN + ATHENE (GHARIAL)

Gharials are solitary, specialized hunters; they employ a 'watch and wait' style to eat fish almost exclusively, and are therefore dependent on good fish supplies. They only leave the water to bask and nest, and they tend to revisit the same basking spots. Gharials are polygamous and spend a great deal of their time alone. When they do come together to bask and nest communally, it’s mainly incidental with little social bonding. Gharials will tolerate other gharials in their immediate vicinity when basking, and nesting females will tolerate fellow nesting females. They are only really territorial during the breeding season. While not involved in any sort of young-rearing process, males will readily allow hatchlings (not necessarily their own) to climb and sit on top of them. On the other hand, gharial females are very dedicated mothers. After digging several 'trial' nests in the sand, they’ll lay their eggs and guard the nest through about 70 days of incubation. They’ll help to excavate newly hatched young, then 'escort' their young to the nearest body of water. Female gharials will stay near their young and protect them for a period of several weeks to several months. During this time the hatchlings usually stay together in groups near the female.

MILLA VODELLO + TADEO (EGYPTIAN PLOVER)

The Egyptian plover is one of the tamest of birds, having been reported living happily alongside villagers and fishermen. It unearths worms, mollusks, insects and their larvae by probing with its bill in damp sand or by digging into the surface with both feet. This friendly, social bird can be found near desert river water in pairs, small groups, or large flocks, but almost never alone. They only seem territorial during breeding season, having no qualms about chasing off other invading plovers or birds of prey if it meant protecting their babies. The plover’s eggs are not incubated, but are buried in warm desert sand. To keep the sand from becoming too hot, the parents take turns sitting on the eggs with water-soaked bellies to cool them and keep the babies from burning to death. The chicks may even drink water from the adult's belly feathers after hatching. The Egyptian plover is sometimes referred to as the crocodile bird for its symbiotic relationship with crocodiles. According to Herodotus, the crocodiles lie on the shore with their mouths open and a bird called "trochilus" flies into the crocodiles' mouths so as to feed on decaying meat lodged between the crocodiles' teeth. There is no photographic evidence of this occurrence, but plovers have been observed to be remarkably bold in the presence of crocodiles and may run across their backs from time to time.

MORCEAU OLEANDER + JARONA (EASTERN CHIPMUNK)

Eastern chipmunks can be found in many places; they are tolerant of human habitation, sometimes burrowing under buildings when given the chance. They are omnivores with a wide diet of seeds, nuts, fruits, insects, worms, eggs, and mushrooms. They spend most of their time foraging for food on the ground, but they will also climb trees to obtain food. These chipmunks are solitary, polygamous animals; females are commonly left to raise their offspring on their own, while males leave to mate with more females. They’re great planners, constructing burrows with numerous entrances and exits, complicated tunnels, and chambers for storage and nesting. Each chipmunk will fiercely defend their territories from intruders. Their aggression is typically more vocal than violent, but fights will break out when other chipmunks ignore the territorial warning calls of the resident chipmunk. They conceal their burrow entrances with leaves and rocks in order to further avoid predatory attention. A chipmunk usually stays in its small home range its entire life, only venturing further during breeding season or when food is scarce. Despite being such solitary animals, chipmunks are also very vocal. They use a wide variety of chips, trills, and calls to defend their territories and to alert other chipmunks of predators in the area.

FORD CRULLER + FRITZI (ZEBRA LONGWING)

(Ford’s daemon is rather unstable due to his fractured psyche. When he moves away from the giant psitanium deposit and adopts one of his many different identities, his daemon tends to flicker and become a little fuzzy, like a photo out of focus. It kind of freaks people out.)

Zebra longwings will forage and roost alone, but are also likely to be found in both large and small groups. They roost communally at night in groups of up to 60 adults. This occurs nightly and they return to the same roost each time. In their groups they display a group-startle response, where all the gathered butterflies will react together in response to a disturbance, which deters predators. Zebra longwings usually live in a very stable, tropical environments, and they do not hibernate. Non-hibernating butterfly species live longer and have higher fitness than hibernating butterflies. Zebra longwings are a migratory species, but unlike most butterflies, they do not display wanderlust, nor are they known to migrate at particular times of the year. They do, however, migrate in order to locate resources and establish the most efficient paths to reach these resources. This species is surprisingly territorial, but it's mostly observed in males who guard their potential mates. Longwings are unusual in feeding on pollen as well as on nectar; the pollen enabling them to synthesize toxic substances in their bodies. They use their bright colors and contrasting wing patterns to warn others of their toxicity, asserting themselves as poisonous and unpalatable to any potential predators.

Ford is good-natured, intuitive and cooperative, while Fritzi shows his more assertive, analytical, efficient side.
