On October 5, 1962, The Beatles’ debut single, “Love Me Do,” was released in the UK.
“I remember when they did ‘Love Me Do,’ their first record, and George told us it might be going to be on Radio Luxembourg. We stayed up till two o’clock, glued to the set, and nothing happened. Harold went to bed, as he had to be up at five for the early shift on the buses. In the end, I went up to bed as well. I was just in the bedroom, when George came rushing up the stairs with the radio, shouting ‘We’re on, we’re on.’ Harold woke up and said, ‘Who’s brought that noisy gramophone in here?’” - Louise Harrison, The Beatles: The Authorized Biography (1968) “The first time I heard ‘Love Me Do’ on the radio, I went shivery all over.” - George Harrison, ibid (x)

"The Spiritual and Musical Journey of George Harrison: Here Comes The Sun" is the first I'm hearing of how smart Harold Harrison was
Tumblr media
p. 6
Also gives a whole other view and understanding of why Geo said he hated buses.
Of course, he's not going to be a big fan of what his dad did and probably talked about frequently. Why he wasn't home all the time, why he was busy, of course, he'd resent that.
And he does seem absolutely brilliant. I would also like to know who started the rumor that he was just a bus driver. It sounds like he was basically the head of transportation in Liverpool.

From the sleeve of Thirty-Three & 1/3; photos by Bob Cato.
In memoriam: Hank Cicalo. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
“Along with a handful of musicians, engineer Hank Cicalo moved to [Friar Park] for six weeks to record [‘Thirty Three and 1/3’ in 1976], and still remembers the convivial atmosphere. ‘The meals were always vegetarian, but then [pianist] Richard Tee showed up, this hulking, six-foot-plus guy, and there was no way he was gonna go for that,’ Cicalo says. ‘So George made sure they got some ribs for Richard that night. He said, “We’ve never had meat in this house since I bought the place!” But that’s how hard he tried to be accommodating. He was a very sweet and loving guy — just a joy to be around.’” - Entertainment Weekly, December 14, 2001 (x)

🌟I just love the way Pattie got along with George’s family. They seemed to be the real family she’s ever had. They really cared for her💞💞💞💞
