Harriet Williamson (April 29, 2023). "Trans-inclusive cervical cancer campaign defies anti-LGBTQ+ hate: ‘We deserve to be screened.’" PinkNews. https://www.thepinknews.com/2023/04/29/cervical-cancer-screening-smear-test-lgbtq-inclusive-remove-the-doubt/
Update: This news article is about a campaign for cervical cancer screening, called Remove The Doubt. The UK charity running the campaign was called Live Through This. Later, the charity changed its name to OUTpatients, so the campaign moved to their new site. Since then, you can visit the Remove The Doubt site here, which explains to anyone who has a cervix what they need to know about cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccines.

My brother's girlfriend had HPV, so he went to get himself the HPV vaccine. There is a fee to pay (nothing much, something like €87) but it's completely free if you're in one of the "at risk" groups.
"What does that mean," he asks. "It's free if you're gay," he's told. "Ah. Would I have to like, prove it, or...?" "Just put in a check mark here."
My brother is in no way, shape or form attracted to men, but also he's stingy as it gets. So now he's officially gay. Congrats bro.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide, affecting both men and women. Oh my God.
Oh my God he actually likes me.
More than my sister.
Despite my fangirl cringe.
He thinks my body is sexy.
He doesn't even care about the hpv.
What God did I please to make this happen?
I've never been more head over heels for a man.

I'm here to report on the colors in episode four of Wandee Goodday, but first a few stray thoughts like I have another image to add to my collection of Yak looking at Dee crazy,
Tumblr media
yet still going along with whatever Dee wants.
Tumblr media
Also, Yak being bothered that Dee didn't immediately think of him as a friend was a good beat in establishing the "friend" portion of their benefits. They are friends who share their lives with each other and scheme together, and I'm glad the show is explicitly stating that.
Tumblr media
Because the way the conversation began paralleled the way Yak wants to approach Taem about their relationship - What are we? "Are we datin'? Are we fuckin'? Are we best friends? Are we somethin' in between that?"
Tumblr media
But also the nurse stating Yak must care a lot for his lover to get the vaccine and Yak looking immediately at Dee was perfection because 1) safe sex isn't just about you but about the people you are sleeping with,
Tumblr media
2) you shouldn't be ashamed of caring about sexual health, so even if you hide behind queer pamphlets, drink water, get the shot, wear the condoms, and use the lube. Also, PrEP isn't just for men just like HPV vaccinations aren't just for women, and
Tumblr media
3) it showed that Yak does care enough about DEE, his lover, to take their sexual health seriously -> Yak is on that Bed Friend's King level of sexy, and I'd go through the entire Kama Sutra with them both once all our test results came back clear.
Tumblr media
Translations are always iffy but Ter mentioning that Dee wasn't thinking about his professional persona while Yak reminded Dee to not include his face in the pictures and Yei mentioned his brother being fine with Cher when they first started dating gives me hope that this show is going to lean more into the layers of being out because even though that "666" told me Ter was el diablo, he continues to make comments like that and Golf's other show, The Eclipse (which has been featured often in this show) was very much about (not) passing and levels of outness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yei and Yak's dad was a world champion boxer, yet he wasn't mentioned in this mom-focused episode and the mom is the one who opened the gym, so is the space that Cher and Yei are giving Yak to figure his feelings out something they weren't given by the father? Because Cher was worried about the pressure Yei was putting on Yak to move up a class.
Tumblr media
And if the gym was the mom's, with all of its yellow, is Yak really like his mom as Dee assumed?
Tumblr media
Because putting the opening scenes in black and white is an easy flashback technique, but in this particular story, where Yak and his mom are bright yellow, it was a painfully good choice to take the color and brightness out of the scene.
Tumblr media
And it was an even better choice to parallel Dee comforting Yak in the same way Yak comforted him with a warmer (yellow) light than his normal purple one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because Dee is already in his feelings about Yak without realizing how deep he was, which is why he is wearing a soft yellow while Yak is wearing Dee's fake blue.
Tumblr media
When they practiced what Yak would say to Taem, Dee thought about all their moments together, so he is falling quickly, while the signs are pointing out that Yak isn't there yet.
Tumblr media
But I wouldn't be there either if I was still daydreaming about this beautiful goddess who always rescues Yak with her brilliance, sassy personality, singular focus, and yellow folders, but that sounds a lot like someone else.
Tumblr media
A Purple Prince who is also brilliant and focused on winning but wild and sassy. Good to know Yak has a type. (Sidenote: the music choices swinging between romantic to tension-filled as the scene flipped between Taem and Dee was another great choice)
Tumblr media
Because Taem is taken, even if not officially. She matches her guy. She had on a dark brown and black shirt, so he had on a dark brown cardigan with a black tie.
Tumblr media
And she had on a brown-striped shirt with a black star, and he had on a brown jacket with black writing and a black tie.
Tumblr media
Then again, Dee is no consolation prize. Not looking like that at least.
Tumblr media
No wonder Yak is conflicted about what he feels when he looks at Dee because he most certainly is sexually attracted to him because *duh* who wouldn't be attracted to Dee (TER!), but as they sit in Yak's black and yellow room, it becomes more apparent that whatever he is feeling isn't just sexual desire.
Tumblr media
And when Dee scratches his back just like his mom used to while tutoring him, it starts to become clearer that Dee, wearing his necklace, and in orange which is sooooo close to yellow fits easily into his life. (Sidenote: Together with Me taught me that in Thai, being itchy is slang for being horny, so good for this show and its layers)
Tumblr media
Dee works so well in Yak's life that Yak is willing to get three shots to continue to have sex with him which can take anywhere from eight months to over a year to complete because each dose is spaced out by at least two-to-six months. Basically, Yak committed to a long-term plan . . . with Dee, who is chilling in his yellow-striped shirt.
Tumblr media
So it's not surprising that Yak is wearing a deeper blue next week as he holds Dee on the couch since he is far more invested in this fake relationship than he originally intended.
Tumblr media
I could write 5,000 more posts about them and this episode which I probably will.
Tumblr media
But know that even though the blue Yak is wearing is getting deeper, I will not be satisfied until it turns into purple.
Tumblr media
That's when I'll know they are both in love.

Idk if this really fits ur blog (its not technically TRANSandrophobia) but i saw a post about how approximately 1/3 men have hpv and people in the notes are being, like, super radfem-ish and bioessentialist? Like, someone said that the reason this is the case is that “men generally don’t like getting vaxxed”, another person said “sex with men will kill you in some form” and lots more people were saying shit like “kill all men” (which, even ironically, makes me a little sick) and idk, it just felt very… weird? And wrong? And like, definitely morally questionable, if not outright wrong?
So I looked into this: apparently a study recently came out on HPV in men, and found that 1 in 3 cis men globally have HPV. The study itself brings up that most research has been done on cis women, concerning cervical cancer. Because that's a big concern, its why people need regular pap smears- but since there isn't an equivalent to that for those with penises, they are less likely to know they have HPV, especially since many cases are asymptomatic. This study is actually very important since its encouraging more effort be put into making sure everyone is given medical advice on HPV. Despite it being able to cause cancer in any sex, if its seen as a "female" disease, then everyone else is going to assume its not something they need to worry about. The CDC found that children AFAB started being recommended vaccinations in 2006 while children AMAB only started getting recommended them in 2011. Here's an academic paper on "the feminization of HPV" that dives into this issue, which I do recommend people check out, since it really illuminates just how much sexism has affected men's health in this regard.
So people with penises are a very under-researched group with regards to HPV, and that is killing people because they don't realize that they can get cancer and they aren't getting an equivalent to pap smears to check for it. This study is genuinely important! So people seeing the statistic "1 in 3 men have HPV" and jumping to "it must be because they hate getting vaccinated! this is proof men are disgusting and penises will kill you!" is absolutely some gross gross shit. Very radfem-flavored misandry. You are right to feel sick about this!

Learned recently that studies have shown that trans men are 8-10x more likely to have inadequate Pap smear results than cis female counterparts with a positive correlation with length of time on testosterone for reasons not 100% fully understood but known to be connected to cervical/reproductive atrophy. This happened to me recently (Pap smear came back unviable and I was referred to a specialist) and when I talked to a few other trans men about it I learned that others have had similar issues, usually with little to no explanation from their providers about why their results couldn't be obtained. I had no idea this was a thing despite spending years researching HRT on my own and navigating stuff like alleviating atrophy symptoms and pursuing a hysterectomy so I figured I'd put it out there for anyone else.
I don't say this to fearmonger against testosterone HRT (obviously lol) but I think it's good to be informed, especially when reproductive atrophy is already an extremely fearmongered and misunderstood effect of testosterone and when trans men already face enough barriers as it is when it comes to accessing quality gyno/reproductive care for a ton of different reasons ranging from dysphoria preventing us from wanting to in the first place, to insurance fuckery denying us coverage on account of our genders, to facing discrimination and transphobia from doctors, to just the straight up lack of consistent education and proper care guidelines for us in the medical world, and we know that trans men generally have a lower general rate of actually seeking out gynecological care at all than cis female counterparts, as well as the lowest rate of obtaining the HPV vaccine of the entire trans umbrella. I don't necessarily have any incredible conclusions to this but I think it's information that's worth being aware of if you're on testosterone and seeking out gyno/reproductive health care (which I highly encourage you to do).

Wandee Goodday Ep 4 Stray Thoughts
Last week, we got to see Dee and Yak getting mutual pleasure from their current arrangement before Wandee got embarrassed at work and decided to lie and say he had a new boyfriend. Dee asked Yak to be his fake boyfriend, but Yak refused on the grounds that they agreed to not get involved in each other's personal lives and also he didn't want to come out as a boxer. Dee ignored this resistance and then tried to trick Yak into spending time with him to get him to agree. Yak, ever the simp, acquiesced after Dee showed vulnerability. Also, we got more insight into Oyei and Cher, learning that Oyei took on debt during COVID, and Cher comes from a wealthy family. The two are a team and I love them.
Whoa are we opening on a nightmare memory?
Okay, I like this moment. If they're going to be friends with benefits, this is definitely a moment when Yak needed a friend.
Drake's tiddies is out. A gift for me and @happypotato48 and @yankeebastard who is here saying "Hey, Daddy."
Yes, Kao, ask that man direct questions. Now, throw Ter into the pool.
Poor Kwan. Ter seems more concerned with Dee than her.
NOT ROOM 666!!! THE DEVIL! This show said "Don't feel sorry for him. Even the Devil can feel a little bad when he got kicked out of heaven."
This show is so good. We cut beautifully to Yoryak enjoying the same offering Dee had given The Devil.
Very invested in these two talking about their crushes between their own tussles.
We got a new sign! "Be Available But Not For Everyone."
Be careful, Dee. Don't fall in love after telling him to practice confessing.
Interesting. I think Cher knows that Yak has plans beyond boxing and this gym. @yankeebastard thinks it might be a promise Yak made to his mom.
Cher is so gentle and careful with Yak. He lets Yak tell him what he needs to say with such sensitive prodding.
Not Yak getting horny listening to Dee exert himself and remembering their hookups.
The editors are doing a great job with the audio cues this week.
Wow, Taem is clearly a leader of Team Tote Bag.
Hold your ankles? Definitely not the first time Yak has been told that, among other things, I'm sure.
Dee, you gotta sort yourself when it comes to Yak.
I love that Oyei is always trying to get Cher in the shower with him.
Kao jumped up quick at the tea, and is so real for wanting to choke Dee out.
Keeping track of these two almost forgetting themselves and kissing. Excellent gay content.
The Devil is back and he is jealous. I hate this man. He meant it before when he said he didn't like men or Dee. Fuck this guy.
The whole gym is judging them and I love it.
Why wear your gym shirts if you don't want to be seen?
Oyei and Cher judging them together is so important to me.
Very smooth of Cher to just talk them out of the conversation about the parents.
David was correct about the mom.
Yes, scratch his back. I love the use of metaphor on this show.
Poor Kwan. I'm glad she can see through Ter.
I love Kao. Tell your friend is he embarrassing both of you.
Kao said try out my new line of products
Yoryak thought he was outside of the MySpace top 8 and got his feelings hurt.
I really liked the way they handled this HPV PSA. Good job, BL.
That was a solid episode. I like that they're tackling the blurring of the lines in the relationship explicitly, and I like that Dee recognizes that he's jealous. It's interesting having The Devil call out the relationship as fake and be right and wrong. I wanna think about the parents for a bit, because Cher checking that Oyei was okay with Yoryak felt pointed.
