Maurice, although obtaining the Master Emerald is your top priority, I do believe that there's a more effective way to take control of it than simply sending hordes of Badniks after it.

Namely, gaining control over Angel island itself.

That green rock, even though it contains an infinite amount of power, it must have a way to channel said power to make that island float somehow. If you can take control over the island's ability to float, Or better yet, the entire island itself, you should be able to just take the entire island and not just that glorified piece of quartz. This would be a far more effective- and far simpler- method of obtaining that emerald. I mean, it's not like Knuckles would actually take that giant rock off of the island, now, would he?

Simply create a way to tunnel into the island from below from multiple points of entry, and send in some hordes of Badniks as a distraction while the tunnel-boring drones do their thing, setting up a way to control the island. Just make sure that they can't be noticed until it's too late or else you will have problems.
