12 Days of Christmas- Day 7:

You weren’t snooping around. Simply… looking, for… his pants? It made sense since you’d just done the laundry and were taking a pile of his underwear up to the wardrobe. Curiosity only took over you because this year he’d been so secretive with what gifts he was getting you. God knows last year he was a mess at keeping anything a secret- he’d even forgotten what he’d ordered and let you open one of the boxes. Luckily it had only been a small gift but it didn’t seem to bother him that he had no intention of storing your presents in a place where you couldn’t find them.

This year, however, you’d had no accidental opening of packages, no sneak peaks of jewelry or bright yellow Selfridges bags that had sat in the hallway for two weeks before he’d even moved them. 

So of course, you’d wondered if he’d even bought presents this year- the angel of your shoulder told you that you didn’t need anything, that Christmas wasn’t about the presents, yet the little devil on the other side couldn’t help but find a slight annoyance in the idea of him not putting any thought in to such a special day. 

His underwear draw seemed to be a fitting place to start the search. Since he was being secretive and suspicious. Naturally, your hands roam around searching for anything that doesn’t feel like Calvin Klien or Tommy Hilfiger boxers. 

Unconsciously you knew what you were looking for, after five years of loving each other, a small draw could only hide one type of present.

No, it couldn’t. And it didn’t.

You find nothing, sighing in annoyance when you’re met with nothing but folded pants and an odd sock that had been chucked in there carelessly. Walking out of the room defeated- but then, in the corner of your eye. There it was, exactly what you’d been hoping to find. 

In the central cabinet of the wardrobe, large velvet jewelry organiser covered by a glass top- protecting his expensive watches and chain- laid a small black blox. Hidden in plain sight. Of course it was. 

Skipping your way towards it, you tap your fingers against the glass. Stay calm (very hard to do so when you’re wiggling your hips and looking down at what could be a piece of jewelry that will find home on your ring finger soon). It was naughty, but you couldn’t help opening the draw, reaching for the box and rubbing your thumb against it gently. The spring of the lid snaps open quickly, and there it lay, the most beautiful diamond ring you’ve ever seen, glimmering under the light of the room- not too big, not too small. Not that it mattered. You were getting marrieddddd. 

“Babeee!” you nearly launch the box into the air at the sound of Tyrone’s voice. His feet plodding up the stairs quicker then you could put everything back to normal. 

“Ah-” he pauses in the doorway, examining the sight before him, you looked guilty as sin with a smile that was desperately trying not to peek through. “You found it… knew I should’ve hidden it in there” he points to the underwear draw, little did he know. 

“I might have accidentally found one of my presents” you giggle nervously, before your excitement bursts through your body uncontrollably. “We’re getting marrriedddd! Oh my god get on one kneeeee!” you scream, bouncing on the spot as he lets out a breathy chuckle.

“No” he laughs, watching your face drop.

“What? What do you mean?! It’s right there!” you whine, prodding the glass top with your finger. 

“You’ll have to wait” he smirks smuggly, torturing you with his nonchalant approach to your discovery. 

“What- wait! Why would I wait!? I’ve seen it! I know you’re gonna propose!” you’re in complete confusion at his words, surely now would be the perfect time since it’s no longer a surprise.

“Well, if you weren’t snooping around you wouldn’t even know” he winks, walking towards you and pressing a kiss to your temple. Feeling your hands clamp at his t-shirt, looking up at him with a dramatic pout.

“Babyyy” you whimper, “Now’s the perfect time… we’re in love, the ring is ready, I’m ready, you’re ready” he laughs again, shaking his head at your impatience.

“Now is not the time, otherwise I would’ve done it today” he taps your nose, “But someone was feeling inquisitive” he winks.

“Well someone, didn’t hide it very well” you raise your eyebrows, at this point you were two seconds away from grabbing the ring and putting it on your own finger. 

“My love, I promise, you’re not gonna have to wait long, let me just do it how I have it all planned. You’ve waited five years, you can wait a few more days” he whispers gently, kissing your pouted lips. “I love you so much, I love you the same now as I will when I put that ring on your finger” you understand where he’s coming from, you feel a little guilty for snooping around and ruining the moment for him, now your punishment was having to wait until it was an official proposal.

“Fine” you huff. Sinking into his hug. 

“That’s a good girl” he hums, pulling you tighter and kissing you gently.
