„There are few things that annoy Eputak more than not listening. The old shaman cackles softly as her fingers find what they are looking for. She can’t make her own people listen, but maybe those sisters will. The fire is dead, but a few embers still glow in the encroaching darkness. This will be enough.”
Aloy and Beta find themselves in a rather peculiar situation – they somehow have switched bodies. While the sisters, aided by GAIA, search for a way to reverse the switch, they also try to hide their “condition” from their friends.

For something a little different than my usual virtual photography, here's my project for the Horizon Creation Celebration hosted by @horizon-events!
I'm really happy with how it turned out - and I'm excited to see everyone else's creations! More info below the cut ↓
I had this leather bag that I found at a thrift store, but it had somebody else's monogram on the front that I never liked. I always planned to do something about it - and I thought adding the medallion from Rost's armor would be the perfect project. The stitching of the medallion required the most work by far, but I also added a little Nora-inspired feather-and-bluegleam charm to the strap.
I didn't buy any supplies for this - everything was sourced from things I'd already collected (...hoarded?) in hopes of using them in a project someday.* The medallion uses reclaimed leather from an old purse, some blue cord I'd saved from... somewhere, and red cord of similar provenance. A stiff piece of plastic from packaging serves as interior support, and a strong magnet is currently holding it to the bag. I may attach it permanently, but I didn't want to yet in case I decided to use the medallion somewhere else!
All the feathers were found on the ground - there's an obvious jay feather (Steller's jay's in my neck of the woods), a white feather (most likely from a gull) that I colored with alcohol ink, and what I believe is a pelican feather - you can barely see it behind the purple one. The cords holding the feathers were all from my stash as well.
The "bluegleam" is a quartz point colored with glass paint. I'd had an idea for sculpting and casting the bluegleam cluster Aloy wears on her Frozen Wilds armors, but I wasn't able to get a finished product I was happy with. I'm not giving up on it, though - hopefully I can manage it someday!
*Which, honestly, is a miracle. I finally used stuff in a project! See, keeping interesting things is more than just adding to clutter!

Blooms of War, Laurels of Peace: A Horizon fanfic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: It was an ebb and flow, a push and pull, a dance unique to them. Carja and Utaru, sun and earth. Two tribes historically opposed, two elements that should not coexist in harmony.
But in each other they found balance, purpose…and something more.
For the Horizon Creation Celebration 2023 event from @horizon-events.
Screenshots by Stef (RadiateLove on AO3). These are so lovely; thank you for letting me share them with my fic!
COMPLETED 12/15/2023
Chapters: 5/5
Chapter 1: Tension
Chapter 2: Truce
Chapter 3: Trust
Chapter 4: Thrill
Epilogue: Tribute
One thing I love about Horizon as a series is the possibilities it provides to expand upon the existing lore and explore different dynamics between characters. It's interesting to find similarities and contrasts and how those play off each other, which is why Zo and Avad appealed to me as a pairing.
This fic idea came from a discussion in the Kotaloy Elysium Discord server sometime last year about how Zo and Avad could be a potential match. They both stepped up as reluctant leaders for their respective tribes: her during the Red Raids to help push the Carja back at Barren Light, and him to liberate Meridian from Sun-King Jiran's reign of terror. Both lost the person they loved most before their time, making them kindred spirits in that regard. And, my sense is that they would come to understand each other despite their different upbringings and experiences.
The challenge for me was to create a believable romance between two characters that haven't met canonically. There isn't much action here compared to my first longfic or other subsequent fics I've written, but I hope the dialogue and the descriptions are engaging and help depict the developing relationship between Zo and Avad, as well as the friendships she has with Erend and Kotallo.
I'm happy to have participated with other talented writers and artists in the Horizon Creation Celebration 2023 event. It's been amazing getting to focus on these two characters and expand on their canonical background while bringing my own interpretation. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing this fic.
Please consider sharing the other #HCC2023 works on Tumblr and other social media and looking up the collection once it's up on AO3. 🤩

Following the events of Forbidden West, Zo journeys to Nora lands to meet Sona, remembering her time with Varl all along the way.
It has been long, tiresome work the last three months, but finally Zo has convinced the Chorus to uproot themselves and act, successfully conveying the desperate threat they face against Nemesis. With Kel dead, revealed as a murderer, Fane was easier to sway. In truth, it was the rest of the Chorus Zo had to work hardest to persuade. She thinks that what ultimately moved them was that after distributing Focuses to them, Zo was able to prove that Nemesis was ultimately responsible for the infection that caused their Land Gods to turn against them and blight their fields. The rage of the Chorus upon learning of that was unlike anything Zo had seen since the Red Raids. And unlike the war with the Carja, their enemy was entirely removed from the cycle of life, a threat that stood against everything the Utaru believed in. Now, the Utaru leadership has scattered. A member of the Chorus had been sent to every Utaru settlement, each taking a Tenakth veteran with them. When the time comes, the Utaru will be trained and ready for war. As ready for war as one can be against a threat like Nemesis, anyway. Now, standing at the entrance to Plainsong, preparing to make her long journey to Nora lands, Zo looks up at the settlement she once called home. The verdant paths twist up and around the ancient dishes, sowing old death with new life. Zo puts a hand on her belly, now more visible, thinking of the new life she carries within herself. Thinking of her child, Varl’s child, pulls her mind back to the last time she and Varl were here, entering Plainsong.

Hey, guys. I wanted to just take a moment to talk about how racial inequalities can affect education opportunities and the mental state of college students here in Florida. One of the many nicknames we have for our country is The Land of Opportunity, yet there are students who struggle to gain their opportunity, even if they’re born in America. Their struggles don’t always stem from financial issues. What is sometimes overlooked is that in school, students of different races are easily picked on or are overlooked out of bias and even racism.
A potent example of an obstacle for students is the lack of DEI since May 2023. According to the College of Arts and Sciences Dean Advisor, Tangela Serls, "‘Students won’t be prepared to perform in a global society. They will be less informed, less empathetic, and less appreciative of differences across humanity." With fellow students less informed, future generations will be less empathetic to others who are different as time moves forward. This can also increase social anxiety to students who fall into different minority group. This could lead to isolation and depression when people feel like they’re being ostracized by their peers. Not only that, but DEI also helped students with their education. Not just socially, but academically as well. According to DEI Bans at Colleges: What Students Should Know, "‘DEI is for students with disabilities, veterans with PTSD, minority students, and students who are New Americans who may need extra help due to language or cultural barriers,’ Laura Lanese, President and CEO of the Inter-University Council of Ohio, an educational association of Ohio’s public universities, wrote in an open letter in May." Without the paid support for those who are either learning, or don’t speak English as a first language no longer have the needed assistance to complete their assignments, which could lead to added stress financially as well as emotionally.
With every problem comes a solution. At HCC (Hillsborough Community College), Students are provided with the tools they need in order to help themselves get on track educationally, mentally, and emotionally through the help of Baycare. Baycare is a Mental Health center fully payed by Hillsborough Community College on all campuses. This help center also has Student-Counselor confidentiality. Baycare has a non-discrimination policy, having a plethora of languages for the student in need to select. With the language options on Baycare’s website, people can feel like they’re number one priority to the Center, and feel more included as a student of Hillsborough Community College. In Additon to Baycare, HCC has Counsilors available to tend to Students' needs while on campus, including mental health care or social issues that may be occurring. There is also the option for Students who witness their peers' mental health declining to take their distressed friend to an advisor. It's important as a Communtiy to be aware of issues that may not affect us directly. Those with friends of different race can take initiative to listen out for phrases that can be ill-perceived. It's also important to pay attention to how our peers and classmates behave. We never know who may need a helping hand to heal.
Thanks for listening! Reblogs and comments/thoughts are appreciated as always. Links to the References are under the cut.

Market Drivers:
D1: As an emerging energy storage technology, Supercapacitor has always attracted much attention. Many governments have introduced a number of incentive policies to promote the healthy and rapid development of the Supercapacitor industry. Supercapacitor is listed as an important part of the long-term development plan of the national energy field.
D2: Electric double layer capacitors EDLC are relatively environmentally friendly and are in great demand in trams, electric and hybrid vehicles, and energy. Downstream demand is the direct driving force for market development.
D3: Due to issues such as energy density, the utilization rate of Supercapacitor in the market is not high. The market space in the future is relatively large.
Challenge:
C1: Compared with batteries and other capacitors, although it has the characteristics of fast charging and fast discharging, as well as good temperature characteristics, it is green and environmentally friendly and has a long service life. However, its energy density is low, making it difficult to use it alone as an energy storage device, and its actual application penetration rate is low. This is also one of the main reasons why we were optimistic about this industry before 2016, but its development was slow in the later period. Due to low power and low energy density, the application scenarios of the product are limited. With the development of materials and technologies in the future, high-power, high-energy-density supercapacitors will be a major trend in the future.
C2: Different application fields have different needs for product technology research and development. There are currently no monopolies in the market, and downstream demand is widely distributed. Focusing on competitive advantages in specific areas is a better way forward. For example, Ningbo CRRC New Energy Technology mainly focuses on the rail transportation field. Shanghai Aowei Technology mainly focuses on rail transit trams, tunnel locomotives, new energy buses and other fields.
C3: Theoretically, the greater the specific surface area, the greater the capacity. Research has found that although the surface specific area of high-ratio carbon materials is larger, the actual utilization rate is not high because the pores in porous carbon materials are different, which are divided into micropores (<2Nm), mesopores (<2Nm), and mesopores (<2Nm). 2Nm), 2~50nm (2~50nm)), large pores (>50nm), only pores larger than 2nm (water system) or 5nm (non-aqueous system) are conducive to the formation of dual motors, so the pore size distribution should increase the surface area at the same time Make adjustments. In addition, the surface properties (functional groups), conductivity, apparent density, etc. of carbon materials also affect the performance of capacitors.
C4: Develop low-resistance composite materials and improve the conductive properties of materials. It has good compatibility with electrolyte and improves the cycle life of supercapacitor. Research on supercapacitor electrode materials will focus on the development of existing material preparation processes and structural optimization. Cost and performance require stable mobile power technology.
C5: Although the supercapacitor industry maintains rapid development, industry standards need to be improved urgently, which will play a positive role in standardizing supercapacitor production and quality control and promoting the development of the supercapacitor industry.
C6: For example, hybrid supercapacitors, also known as lithium-ion capacitors, have developed rapidly in recent years. Representative companies include JM Energy, Jianghai Holdings, Taiyo Yuden, VINATech, Cap Energy, etc. If this type of capacitor can be known to the public in the future, its market development will be faster. The factors currently restricting its development include high cost and low familiarity.

This treatment with chemotherapy, radiation treatment or both may destroy cancer growth. The reason is this can substantially slow down the growth of a tumor making it easier to kill. Tumors that are more aggressive are harder to kill because they grow too fast. So if you can slow down the growth, you can beat the cancer.
The Destructive Cancer Resonant Frequency Formant (DCRFF) is a narrow band of frequencies that can slow the growth of cancer cells. A glass plasma antenna tube emits pulsed electric fields with specific frequencies, and when exposed to a series of frequencies between 156kHz and 162kHz, these frequencies can slow the growth of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia cells by as much as 43%. For example, a pulsed plasma frequency of 160kHz can reduce the growth of acute lymphoblastic leukemia by an average of 38%.

May 30, 2023 — For pulsed electric fields delivered by a plasma antenna, “OPEF”, the frequency of repetition of the pulse is specific to the cancer cell type (2). We recently showed how a pulsed plasma frequency of 160kHz was able to induce an average of 38% reduction in the growth of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (3). Additional data now indicates that those same cells are most vulnerable to a narrow band of pulsed frequencies between 156kHz and 162kHz. This band of pulsed frequencies within which cancer cells are shown to be most inhibited by OPEF is here named a “Destructive Cancer Resonant Frequency Formant” (DCRFF).

Studies have shown that each type of cell has a specific response to emitted frequencies. For example, frequencies of 1873.477 Hz, 2221.323 Hz, 6350.323 Hz, and 10456.383 Hz are specifically allocated to patients with breast cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, prostate cancer, and pancreatic cancer, respectively. 75% of the frequencies identified in patients with breast cancer are only found in patients with the same tumor type.
