Harry Osborn really is just “I want people to be nice to me and love me. That’s it.” Like it really is. Of course he became Peter’s best friend; the guy was nice to him. Does not take much. He convinces his dad to rent him an apartment close to college and asks Pete to just come live with him for free in a nice two-bedroom in NY because he wants him there. He drives around because he gets anxious and down and driving relaxes him and Peter doesn’t have a car so he’s always like “Oh oh! : ) Hi Peter do you need a ride?” and Pete is like ‘thank god no taxi fare let’s DO this’. He thinks Gwen and MJ are so cool and neat and he loved Gwen so much even though she broke up with him and died two decades ago, he still thinks about how much she means to him. He just wants to hug Normie and tell him he’s a great son and he loves him. He wants Liz to not hate him and think he’s weak and he’s terrified of people finding out all the things wrong with him but none of them care, and he’s great. He’s the most tragic character of all time. He loves his terrible dad so genuinely and so much, and he loves his friends so much, he loves his family so much. Literally all he ever wanted was people to be nice to him and love him and his life and sanity fall apart and he gets tragedy after tragedy and breakdown after breakdown and but he never really breaks he’s always just a little left. He tries so hard to go off the deep end but he can never really make himself hurt Peter, because of course he can’t. He’s Harry Osborn. Who loves friends from twenty years ago like it was last night. Even at his lowest he gets to die telling his best friend he would have finally been proud of him because he was able for a second to be like he is, and pass while smiling and holding his best friend’s hands. Of course he does. How else could Harry Osborn have ever died. He’s Harry.

You know what I wish we'd seen?

More positive actively involved magic users.

Like, we know the Druids support Emrys, though they seem more like a pacifist, non-combatant party (aside from some outliers like Kara, Mordred, Alvarr), and other magic users/beings like Anhora, Grettir, Mab, they all seem to be neutral. They acknowledge Emrys as a superior power, but they don't seem to actively participate for better or worse. And all other sorcerers are usually antagonistic. But why can't we have the other side? I'm sure there has to be some who decide to take Merlin's side. Maybe they don't entirely trust Arthur, maybe they aren't too certain of a Pendragon, but dude, it's fucking Emrys. If Emrys is supporting him, there's gotta be something to him, right?

Let Merlin have people helping him, other sorcerers who slip him spells that are too powerful for them, maybe he can do something with it, passing him information about plots they've heard through the sorcerers' grapevine, even helping him thwart some of the ambushes and traps. Maybe they aren't brave enough to live in Camelot 24/7 like Merlin, but they take turns bringing him messages and supplies, and to get their "marching orders," such as they are.

Also, imagine the look on Arthur's face when he finds out he has a magic Praetorian Guard that answers to his manservant.

yeah see, that's one of the big issues that's always bothered me. like we (the audience) are told that magic is not evil but rather is something as integral as nature. but more often than not, a lot of the antagonist we meet are magic users and most of the time they are power hungry people. i mean, i totally understand the sorcerers who seek out revenge for Uther and by proxy Camelot, but we only either get these types of sorcerers or the sorcerers whom the show portrays as only evil.

it is, frankly, impossible for the magic community to be full of only evil and vengeful sorcerers. there's got to be more diversity than that, bbc 🙄 you're telling me that there are no somewhat powerful magic users living in Albion helping others anyway they can and don't seek to help aid Merlin in anyway. and i mean aid him since s1. by s5 it looked like he was actually getting some help, but they were still sorcerers who fell a little bit in the gray area or just never interacted with anyone other than Merlin.

maybe have Lancelot befriend another sorcerer while he was away from Camelot and sort of sneak him in to help save the kingdom from Morgana and Morgause in s3. maybe Elyan, who had left Camelot pre-s1, have some magic friends that we meet in s4.

tbh, my big issue is that with how much the show tells us, the audience, that magic does have positive impacts and isn't evil, none of the characters besides Gaius, Merlin, and Lancelot actually know that (as far as i'm aware). literally any time Arthur considers that maybe magic isn't what his father claimed it to be, he ends up going back to those prejudices and ideas Uther propagated because "magic killed my father," "magic killed my mother" (still super salty), "magic corrupted morgana," "magic wants me dead." when in reality, that's far from the truth, and Merlin then has to continue to hide a part of himself from people he cares for and loves dearly because all they've ever known and seen is "evil magic people."

just....bbc, explain to me how Arthur was supposed to bring the so-called "Golden Age" to Albion where there's peace between magic users and non-magic users alike if he, himself, believed magic was inherently evil???? how is Arthur the Once and Future King if he never repealed the ban on magic or began working with sorcerers? and i'm saying this as someone who loves the character, but why did we, the audience, not get a chance to really see Arthur break away from his father's prejudices on magic until the series finale?

it just bugs me. there are so many moments where it looks like maybe Merlin has an ally that's pro-magic and pro-unity and wants to help fulfill the prophecy, but then they either become one-time side characters or fucking die. never seen or heard from again. maybe i just want a character or two to stick and maybe give Merlin the support group he needs?

OK today is the day Hailey Upton is leaving final predictions!? Do you think Jay will make an appearance? What do you think Hailey's decision will be? Is she leaving Chicago or just Intelligence?

They've really given us nothing within the storyline of the show, so we're doing all the subtext ourselves only because we know Tracy is leaving.

I actually really like what they did with Hailey this season and having her literally come face to face with the reality that if you let your whole life be your job and run from what you don't want to face you end up alone. And using Jo as that foil was really really effective and it gave all their moments depth and heart and it felt like someone was actually seeing Hailey struggle, outside of Voight who's only way of checking on Hailey is saying 'You good?' I am grateful that they gave Tracy some depth in her final season. But to what end?

and that has been the biggest problem with this season is they spent no time actually showing us what's next for Hailey, they fully intend to just have her leave with 1 or 2 lines, likely to Voight and that will be that. We probably wont even see her say goodbye to the rest of the team and it will pick up next season premier with an update about where she is and what she's doing and then she won't be heard of again.

I have zero expectations that we'll see Jay in the flesh, I think we will all settle for a shot of text from him or something, just anything that indicates there is still hope for them in the future. But again I am not putting much stock in that. The fact that the finale is also Voight centric leaves very little room for much. Generally speaking though Hailey always has a bigger role in Voight episodes. The bottom line - there's room for them to do what we want but even more room for them to not, who wants to guess which way it will go?

As for where she is going/how she's leaving, literally anything is possible because they set up nothing for her. If we're guessing on our own based on things that have been alluded to or brought up - the options are - she stop literally running and makes her way to Jay or she goes to her brothers who moved out of Chicago. That really feels like our only options.

We can see that her job is wearing on her but she also loves it - so does she need a change in job?

She's lonely, she spends all her time at her job and has no social life whatsoever - so does that make her want to leave and find Jay? reunite with her family?

My prediction for her final scene - it will be the episode closer and it will be a scene with Voight in his office, likely drinking scotch. She will put her gun and badge on the desk and say she needs to move on/go away/stop running and figure out her life, how to be happy and what that looks like. Voight won't stop her and that will be that. At best maybe we get Hailey the next day walking to her truck, packed and we see a text from Jay before driving off into the unknown. But that's the best case scenario wherein which we suspend all belief that the writing of both Jay and Hailey hasn't been so ofc that there's even a glimmer of hope the writers will circle back around and do both these characters justice....but I am not even expecting that lol.
