Son: Look Mama, this man looks like Bojan, Käärijä's friend, the one who sings 'gralli'. Mama the same hair, look!

Me: Yes well done, it's Bojan, the same man!

Son: Are you sure Mama?

Me: Of course, play it and check.

Son: *plays video and watches for a while, then wags a finger at me* Yes yes Mama, you are right. It's the same one.

In which Captain Worthin Hall discusses sickness in the first month out.

“Monday the 6th [Oct] Light wind from the NE to NNE and pleasant stood on the wind to the eastward ends the main royal set moste of the men seasick”

Seasickness was common on the first days out. What was not common, however, was that coinciding with the sighting of sperm whales a mere 4 days out from the ship’s departure.

“Wednesday Oct 8th 1851, Light airs from the N and pleasant at 3 pm saw sperm whales no Boats in order made out to git down. 3 boats with 2 gigs [harpoons] a piece and 2 lancis [lances] in all the W and Larbbord boats got a whale on the the mate and third mate the second mate got faste he was so sick that he couldnot git his whale it went off”

Still, highly unusual luck for a ship to get two out of three whales so early on. But there were a few things coming to offset their good fortune. On October 27th, a greenhand came to the captain.

“Allin Thomas off duty says he has a pain in the Brest and says he spits blood I do not believe it.”

“The Old Soger” or “Sogering” (the old soldier, soldiering) was common enough that it had its own term among whaleships, of a man feigning sickness to get out of duty. There are certainly also instances where men were suspected of faking it only for them to turn out genuinely quite ill. Time will tell as I go through this how Allen Thomas is. However, another crew member would fall ill four days later in a way that made the captain feel, objectively, that he wasn’t playing the old soger.

“Sunday Oct 31st First part nearly calm at 4pm lower for exersise the boats down about an hour when  the came on board Charles Emerson was taken verry ill with dretful pain and groping in the side and stomar and became convulsed all with the dretfulest pain I ever saw any one under go which lasted about 1/2 hour then he was more easy for about 1 hour then came on the Convulsions returned and continued for 1 1/2 hour then remained quite easy for a short time and had another return for 1 1/2 hour it being about 1 Am then remained in a dosing state the remainder of the day.”

“Saturday November the 1st 1851 Moderate trades from about SE and pleasant at 6pm C Emerson had a return of his convulsions which lasted a few minuts I gave him some phisic it operated in about 2 hours and grally releived him ends quite comfortable”

5 days later, the captain’s 3 year old daughter would fall overboard. He would save her, but being in the water also impacted his health.

“at a bout 6pm the ship a going about 3 knots Mary fell over bord I jumped after her and soon had her in my armes and as soon as she could git her breth she clung about my neck in frount of me which forsed me to stand strate in the water which made it dretful hard work and before the boat got to me I was nearly exorsted so that I had sunk but they got hold of me and got me into the boat Mary didnot appear to be mutch fritened but said whilst I was a swimin that mary was over bord all in the water and when she got on bord said not a word about changing her cloths but said Father must have some dry cloths and pitied her poor Dear Father verry mutch I was bad all night and now day ends more better”

The next day he reported that he was “some better” but that Charles Emerson was “not so well”.

Cristina Gutiérrez gana el prólogo en los Prototipos Ligeros T3 del Dakar 2023, Chaleco López fue P6

La piloto española Cristina Gutiérrez partió el Dakar 2023 demostrando que está con chances de quedarse con la victoria general al ganar el prólogo en Yanbu. Cristina marcó un tiempo de 8 minutos y 49 segundos para superar a su compañero de equipo Seth Quintero por 2 segundos. Tercero se ubicó Guillaume de Mevius con el GRally. Es la tercera victoria de etapa para Cristina, que había ganado dos especiales en el Dakar 2021.

Chaleco López y Juan Pablo Latrach cerraron en la sexta posición a 15 segundos de la punta en lo que fue una buena etapa para el nacional. Chaleco reconoció que era fácil cometer errores en el prólogo por las características del trazado y se mostró satisfecho de haberlo completado y probado su Can-Am del equipo Red Bull en carrera.

Ignacio Casale y Álvaro León fueron P13 a 22 segundos en una sólida actuación del X-Raid Yamaha demostrando que están en el ritmo de punta. Mañana será la prueba de fuego para esta dupla y que indicará si pueden luchar por el podio. 

Lucas del Río y Bruno Jacomy anotaron la P21 a 39 segundos de Gutiérrez, superando el día y con una posición buena para un día más largo mañana.

El argentino David Zille junto a Sebastián Cesana fue P11 y AJ Jones anotó la P12.

Ignacio Casale fue tercero en histórico 1-2-3 de Yamaha en la Etapa 11 del Dakar 2023, Chaleco López se mantiene cuarto en la general y Lucas del Río obtiene otro Top 10

El aterrizaje del equipo oficial X-Raid Yamaha va en serio en la clase Prototipos Ligeros T3. Si bien problemas mecánicos han privado a los Yamaha YXZ1000 Turbo de pelear por los primeros puestos de la general, definitivamente se han mostrado muy rápidos en algunas etapas y las dunas parecen acomodarles bastante, ya que después del segundo lugar de Ignacio Casale ayer, el equipo Yamaha ha completado un notable 1-2-3 en la Etapa 11, la más larga del Empty Quarter. Ricardo Porem ha ganado la especial, 20 segundos por delante de Joao Ferreira y 22 por delante de Ignacio Casale. El mejor Can-Am ha quedado a 6:18 con Seth Quintero.

Con el resultado, Ignacio Casale y Álvaro León se consolidan como décimo en la clasificación general ahora a 59 minutos de escalar un puesto y con 1 hora y 26 minutos de ventaja sobre el P11. Lo más importante para la dupla chilena es ver que el Yamaha es un auto que tiene mucha proyección y podrá luchar por puestos de avanzada si se logra seguir desarrollando el lado mecánico.

Quien ha tenido un mal día ha sido Guillaume de Mevius. Detenido apenas en el kilómetro 41 por un problema mecánico, el piloto del GRally ha cedido más de 1 hora y 42 minutos con lo que pierde la punta de la clasificación general y prácticamente toda opción de victoria. de Mevius queda tercero en la general a 1 hora y 28 minutos del nuevo líder y claro candidato al triunfo, Austin Jones.

Chaleco López y Juan Pablo Latrach han terminado undécimos a 20 minutos de la punta en un día algo más desafiante. El piloto chileno mantiene la cuarta posición de la clasificación general y se ha acercado al podio con los problemas de Guillaume de Mevius pero sigue a 1 hora y 22 minutos del tercer puesto.

Lucas del Río y Bruno Jacomy siguen con una buena segunda semana del Dakar y fueron octavo a 10 minutos de la punta.

Luis Díaz Soza anotó la P29 en T4. Rokas Baciuska sigue comandando esta clase.

Villains’ Comments on Dominator’s Defeat

As we may know, the other villains never appeared at the end of Season 2 (one of the biggest reasons The End of the Galaxy cannot be the series finale), and Season 3 was said to show what would become of them. If I had to guess, each one would have something to say about Lord Hater stopping Lord Dominator and saving the galaxy.

EMPEROR AWESOME Say WHAT?! Hater's beaten D-D-D-D... HER? Half of me is happy about it, but the other half is totes jealous. Like, how can I cope with Hatey being more hardcore than me if I didn't stand a chance against... that... that... horrible honeydew hottie? (sigh) Maybe I should find a therapist. I can’t throw any more parties until I do.

I love the Grizz and Allie friendship literally so much!

The way he's always there to support and comfort her quite literally warms my heart. I need more scenes of them together in Season 2! I really want a scene where Grizz comes out to her and then they talk about Sam, Will (and Harry), I don't even know why, I just think it'd be cute.

Also, we need a brotp name for them! Is there already one? Grallie? Allizz?
