Azura & Diana support
C support
Diana: Hey! Lady Azura! Diana: C'mon, don't ignore me, hey- Azura: ...what? Diana: Whoo! I finally caught you! Lady Azura, you walk so fast- (Azura leaves) Diana: Hey!! I want to talk to you!! (Azura returns) Azura: I'm sorry, that was rude. Please, say what you wanted to say. Diana: It's just- it's only. I searched for you for so long! Diana: Remember Fort Dragonfall, what we talked about there? Well, as I promised, I went to find a window you could climb out of and when I came back.. Diana: … Diana: Even though the fort was empty, I didn't give up. I heard something about a graceful lady singer heading from Port Dia to Notre Sagesse, and I tried to keep up with the ships, but again… Azura: …I see. Azura: You were always one step behind. Diana: Yes, but that was then. I've found you now! And as your loyal knight and retainer, it will never happen again. Lady Azura, I promise you that I will do everything I can to stay by your side. Azura: … Azura: I have no need of a knight. You're dismissed from my service. (Azura leaves) Diana: Huh? Wha- oh, horsefeathers! She's so fast! Diana: Still. I can't stop being her knight if she never acknowledged it in the first place. Hehe! Wait up, Lady Azura! Your knight is never leaving you alone again! (Diana leaves) (Azura reappears) Azura: Never leave my side…? Azura: …That's what the others said. (Azura leaves)
B support
Diana: Lady Azura! Azura: (sigh) Hello, Diana.  Diana: And how are you today, my lady? Azura: I am well, Diana. Do you need anything? Diana: No, I just wanted to see you! Azura: …Well, here I am. Diana: Nice! Awesome job, Diana! You know, this retainer thing is pretty easy. I don't know what the others were complaining about. Azura: About that. Azura: [Corrin] and [their] siblings were assigned their retainers by King Garon. Although Queen Mikoto was always kind to me, she knew that recognising me as she did her other children would only cause problems. So where did you come from? Diana:  My lady, that's… Diana: It's not something I can explain right now. But I can tell you why I'm still your retainer. Azura: Go on. Diana: When I came to Hoshido, from far, far away, I had a mission that I needed to do. But we met, remember, on that spring morning. It was such a beautiful day, with the sun shining so merrily and those beautiful blossoms on the breeze. Diana: The royal family were having a meal amongst the blossoms, and you were there too, but… Diana: Where I come from, I saw people with no hope in their eyes. And I wanted to become someone who they could always believe in, a hero who would work her hardest to bring them happiness once again. Diana: Even out in the sunshine on that beautiful day, I saw that sadness in you. I promised, then and there to become your hero and bring you happiness. Diana: I'm sorry, it must be a painful memory. Azura: Oh, no. Quite the opposite. For me, it was an unremarkable day. No happier and no sadder than the last. Diana: Oh, Lady Azura… Azura: It's nothing. Here, I have some things you can do. Retainer duties. Diana: Ooh! My first real tasks! Lady Azura, I promise I won't disappoint you! Azura: Of course. (Diana leaves) Azura: What a strange girl. It really was just an ordinary day…
A support
Azura: Diana. Diana: Yes, Lady Azura? Azura: Do you remember that mission you told me about? What happens to you if you don't complete it? Diana: Hmm… well, I guess I don't know. I haven't really thought about it. Azura: But if I were to no longer require your services… Diana: If you got a new retainer? Azura: Or if something were to happen to me, and we were to be parted… Azura: In that case, would you still be able to complete your mission? Diana: Lady Azura, what is this about? Azura: It's nothing, I... As your liege lord, I should be thinking about your future, should I not? Diana: Well, sure. But Lady Azura, once my mission is done, I will return to my homeland. So I'm in no rush. The mission isn't the kind of thing that prevents me from being with you. Azura: I see… That's good to hear. I'm sure you have people there who miss you. Diana: … Diana: You know, I've been parted from people I loved before. Sometimes I was able to say goodbye. But others… Azura: Diana? What is this? Diana: It's the head of a javelin. You can think of it as a promise, from me to you. "As long as this javelin remains unfinished, one day we'll meet up again and finish it!" That kind of thing. Azura: But I'm no good at weapons maintenance. Diana: Oh, me neither.  Azura: Aha… ha ha ha! Diana: Hahaha! Azura: Diana, I can't say I understood what made you stop and introduce yourself to me on that day. But I am truly glad that you did. Diana: Seeing you smile makes it all worthwhile. Diana: I don't know what the future will bring, but I'm grateful I got to spend this time at your side. So look after that javelin head, okay? And no matter what happens to us after the war, one day we'll see each other again. Azura: Thank you, Diana. I'll look forward to it. Diana: Me too! But until then, have you got any more chores- I mean, retainer duties? I want to use the time we have to help you as much as I can!

“Xander!” Azura exclaimed, clearly overjoyed to see him, as she moved towards the door to enfold the stranger in a familial embrace. “I’m so glad you could make it tonight. Have you had a nice trip down here?”
“Hello, Azura. Congratulations for the show.” he said in a gruff, deep voice. “I see you have company, my apologies for barging in. I stopped by your dressing room, but one of the stagehands told me you were here.”
His long arms wrapped around his step-sister as he hugged her back, but his eyes met Corrin’s over the top of Azura’s head.
He had memorized her features in these last couple of hours, both the ones printed in the program guide and those highlighted by the stage lights, but up close, he noticed the way her pink eyes twinkled as if full of mischief and how her lips tilted up at the corners in a perpetual smile. His curiosity rose watching the emotions flit across her face, one chasing the other.
She nodded as if she had come to a conclusion, and he wondered what it was that she was thinking. He wondered if she would tell him if he ever asks.
“Xander, I’d like to introduce you to Corrin Anankos, our new prima ballerina for the company.” Azura said, leading him inside the room to the woman still seated at the dressing table. “Corrin, this is the friend I told you about, Lord Xander von Siegfried. He is our main patron and a great connoisseur of the national theatre circuit.”
For some reason, his title amused her. The blonde ballerina grinned as if laughing at a private joke and, with a graceful move from her dresser’s chair, she rose from her seat to face him. The folds of her dressing gown fell away as she stands, revealing the toned muscles of her dancer legs.
Corrin holds out her hand for him, her eyes narrowing as she challenges him to take it. For skin to meet skin. He knew that once he touched her, there was no going back. He smirked as if to tell her he is not afraid of it.
His palm covered the back of her hand, letting the warmth seep through before he lifted their joined hands. His lips lightly brushed over her knuckles in a gallant gesture, enjoying the way her breath hitched at contact. He could feel the pulse on her wrist throb and knew it matched his own.
They stood staring at each other, almond eyes meeting pink, until the sound of Azura loudly clearing her throat broke their concentration. He dropped her hand as if burned and she rubbed it against the silk of her gown.
“Corrin, why don’t we leave you to get changed?” Said Azura, taking Xander’s hand to lead him out of the room. “We’ll be waiting for you. Meet us near the back exit.”
Corrin nodded, unable to find her voice. She does not release the breath she had been holding until the door closed behind the pair.
Clutching the back of her chair, she eased back down, inhaling deep before exhaling. She did the breathing exercises, closing her eyes to find her centre once again. Feeling the calm spread, her body relaxed as the tension from their connection dissipated.
Outside, Azura gave a sideways glance up at Xander, noting how he tuned out of their conversation and kept staring back at the dressing room door. Frustrating her little entertainment, he sensed her amused observation much too soon and looked away, his emotions once more hidden behind a mask.
Knowing her old friend well, and knowing that he would never admit to anything, the opera singer refrained from making any comments on the situation and followed him down the corridor to the meeting spot. Whatever this is, she would see it play out soon enough.
Ten minutes of stilted conversation later, they both turned around as Corrin approached them. She had changed into a green crop top tied into a bow in front with a black lace tank top playing peekaboo as did the loose sleeves. The denim shorts moulded over her hips, accentuating every curve.
Xander noticed how her long and wavy blond hair fell in layers past her shoulders, complimenting the moist freshness of her face, now that it is meticulously clean and not covered in stage make-up. With it, she no longer looked like a fairy on the stage who would disappear with the fading of the melody. Instead, she was an attractive young woman who was beautiful without even trying and, very much real.
“Something wrong, Lord Siegfried?” Corrin asked, the smirk on her lips telling him she knew exactly the effect she was having on him.
“No, no, excuse me. I was just taking note of how…” He trailed off, searching for the right words. “How different you look out in the real world.”
She does not respond to his fumbling commentary, turning instead to Azura for clarification. “Where are we going?”
“Amuzia, if you don’t mind.” The opera singer responded, an ease in her voice that signalled that the decision had already been made. “It’s a bit of a dive, but they serve a great vodka special that hits just the spot. It’s very unpretentious, too! Isn’t that right, Xander?”
When he only nodded, she continued. “It’s near the hotel where Xander stays in Cyrkensia. He’s there often, so we’re guaranteed a spot and swift service at this time of night.”
“You don’t have anyone waiting at home for you?” Corrin asked, glancing up at the quiet blond man.
“I would go there even if I do.” Xander said. “I need a buffer between the stress of the office and the world. An airlock, of sorts.”
“You didn’t answer my question.” The ballerina pointed out when he was not too clear.
He seemed to hesitate before continuing, “No. I have nobody waiting at home tonight.”
The lord walks ahead to the edge of the sidewalk and signals for a cab passing by the street. In the car on their way to the bar, their eyes met in the rear-view mirror and they both acknowledged the connection.
From this moment onward, there would never be anyone else for either of them.

@musesinescrow sent in:  "Whoa! Look at that thing! Are those normal around here?" UMP9 to Azura!
bravely default 2 starters.
Tumblr media
“Do you mean those dragons, and birds?” Azura questioned, with her eyes looking towards the friendly dragons and birds (the ones that trust humans to ride them into battle), while trying not to show how... curious she is towards UMP9, whose uniform already alerted the songstress that they were not from this world, yet she couldn’t find it in herself to believe that every traveler was here to bring harm towards someone, or of this world. “Did your world not have any dragons, nor birds?”

Songbird
Yan!Childe x Singer/Dancer!Khaenri'ahn! reader
Proof-read by: @choquackette
a/n: in a way, does this count as a songfic :D? Also I'm gonna use Lost in Thoughts All Alone for this. And to be fair you're pretty much like Shigure/Azura from fates in this
TW: Kidnapping
Tumblr media
You are the ocean's gray waves
Destined to seek life beyond the shore
Just out reach
Your voice rang out through the crowd who was listening. Your Hydro Vision glowed as you made particles of water float around you. It created an illusion that made them looked like it was sparkling. It was mesmerising. To Childe, it amazed him how you used it so beautifully for a show. Unlike his more....bloodthirsty uses of his. To think a Vision can do something so graceful and morbid at the same time.
Of course he had his Electro Delusion but this is the Vision we're talking about. He uses it as a weapon while you used it for entertainment. To be honest, he never thought he'd see something like this. It was all thanks to a mission he has to do. Tailing a guy who was in debt to the Fatui and all. Childe think he was a fool. Instead of trying to make his business better, he wastes it on shows like these. But now that he sees you, he understand why. Your exotic appearance was a sight to behold. The only known person to have the same eyes as you was that Favonius Cavalry Captain and he only showed one eye. One already can make one look intriguing but having both made you look ethereal.
Yet the water ever change
Flowing like time
The path is yours to climb
Your dance was graceful, fluid movements that did flow like water. Childe think you could've been a good sword fighter if you were able to incorporate these movements into sword fighting. But for now he'll enjoy your voice and dancing. There's just something about it he loved so much. Sure fighting is always the one he loves but there's just something about you that he's attracted to. Was it your appearance? Vocals? Movements? Or those pupils of yours? He thinks it's quite silly, he doesn't even know who you are and yet......
A burdened heart
Sinks into the ground
Here he is, eager to look for you after this whole mission thing. If there's one thing he knows, is to not judge someone's prowess by appearance. Take the traveler for example. They have a petite form and yet they were able to defeat his Foul Legacy form! Who knows what you might have in store for him? Just the thought of you actually being able to fight makes him feel giddy.
Alas, all he can do for now is listen to your song. With that said, he didn't forget his mission. Out of the corner of his eyes he saw his target. The man was also in awe of looking at you. Too in awe of noticing his presence that is. He'll get right back to him when your show's over.
A veil falls away without a sound
Not day nor night
Wrong nor right
For truth and peace, you'll fight
He wondered if his siblings would love your singing. Sleeping to a lullaby sounded like a nice idea to him. Why he even thought of that was a mystery to him. Is this what they called love at first sight? He just can't help but wished to woken up by your voice that will roll out his name softly in the morning.
Sing with me a song
Of silence and blood
The rain falls, but can't wash away the mud
Within my ancient heart dwells
Madness and pride
Can't no one hear my cry?
The song ended and the crowd threw a round applause. You bowed and left the stage immediately. Childe, who hasn't forgot his mission, quickly trailed the guy he was after outsidd. "Ah! Hello there Mr. Wei Xing! I reckon you know who I am yes?" And so from there, he scared the poor man to the death with threats and grim reminder of the debt he owed. But Childe was feeling a bit merciful today "Tell you what I'll give you some more time on one condition." Wei Xing, his target, was confused. The Fatui giving a bit of leverage? Still, he would be an idiot to refuse "And that condition is....?"
Childe chuckled at his quick response. It's natural after all. All of his intimidation must have triggered his survival instincts. "Just answer me this. Who was that singer with a Hydro Vision?" Wei Xing was baffled. That's all he wanted? "A-as far as I know, t-their name is (Y/N). They're a performer that was passing by Liyue to gain more popularity across Teyvat." Childe hummed as he hears it. 'A travelling performer huh? Looks like I'll have to act quick if I want to meet them' There was moment of silence before he asked another question "When are they leaving?" "I-in a few days"
Childe let him go and as promised gave him more time for him to pay his debt. Should he fails again to do so.....he'll be history. He only had a few days to meet and talk to you so he has to be quick. Thankfully being a Fatui Harbinger does have it perks. One of those perks being having informants that can collect informations for you. And since this is no top secret info, it was quite easy to find out where you were staying and exactly how many days before you were gone.
As he wait for you at the road that led guests from Wangshu Inn to Liyue, he thought of what you might say. Maybe you'll recognise him right away? Or perhaps you were too innocent to notice the horrors of the Fatui. As he notices your figure walking on the horizon, he prepared to greet you casually. But then he was perplexed by your outfit. It seemed less travelling performer and more of a......fighter? Interesting. He drops the idea of greeting you and opted to follow your path instead.
He followed you until you reached a domain that was near one of the ruins. You stood in front of the entrance as he awaits your next move, intentionally letting his presence seep out. "You're not doing that much of a great job to hide yourself, Fatui. Or is it intentional?" Childe walks out from the spot he was hiding in and approached you slowly while saying "Well, isn't this a surprise? I just happened to be passing b-" His actions stopped midway as your pointed a spear at him. "Not a step closer, what do you want?"
Your starred pupils were sharped and narrowed. It held an intense emotion in it. Childe held up his hands in some sort of mock surrender and laughed a bit "Hey now! There's no need to get aggressive, is there? I was just curious why someone like you is doing here. Not exactly a good place to perform isn't it?"
"That's none of your business."
"Are you gonna go inside this domain?"
"...."
"If so, can I follow?"
"No."
"Please?"
"I said no."
"I'm very good at fighting you know. It'll be a shame if someone like you gets inju--"
Your spear was closer to him now. Threatening to slice him open any minute you wanted to. It didn't faze him at all. In fact it made him thrilled. He knew there was something about you that was enchanting and perhaps this was it. An unrelenting fighting spirit. In a blink of an eye, he immediately summoned his hydro javelin and parried your spear. You backed away in surprise but kept your guard up.
"Listen I have no time for you Fatui. Leave me be. I have more important matters to attend to." Childe just gave a fox-like grin at your attempt to intimidate him. "Is that so? Like what exactly?" You rolled your eyes at him. He was getting annoying for sure. "Like I said, none of your business." It looks like you might have to halt your plans for tonight. The Abyss Order can wait. "So, what are you gonna do little star?" Without warning you immediately engulfed yourself in a torrent of water and disappears. Childe was shocked when he sees it but still grinned. If you wanted to be a challenge then so be it. If he can't bother you during your 'missions' then he'll bother you during the day.
And that is exactly what he did.
For two days straight he kept trying to talk with you whenever you were out visiting the Liyue Harbour. At first you tolerated him but now he was insufferable. You were glad you were leaving as soon as possible next day but Childe was not having any of that. In just the span of two days his little curiosity had turned into a tsunami of obsession. Your expressions and reactions not to mention the little heart warming moments he saw you cheering up some of the kids in Liyue. He wants to know even more of you.
And precisely why he is fighting you right now.
As he has deducted, your move was as graceful as your dance. Your fighting style was as unique as your eyes. Something he has never seen before. You dodged his flurry of arrows, panting while doing so. How long has he fought you? It felt like an eternity. You tried to dash to him and deliver a swift strike but him and his stupid shield won't let you. You jumped back just in time before he strike his hydro swords at you. You can't even get an elemental advantage here, you had to mostly rely on your weapon.
"Well (Y/N), it's been a fun fight really. But why don't you surrender now? You're tired aren't you? I promise things will go smoothly if you just give up."
You didn't want to. There's no way you'll give up. What does he wants with you anyway? You only stared down at him in silence, refusing to answer. "Ah, stubborn now aren't we? I guess I'll have to use a little force...." He activated his Delusion and immediately dashed towards you, giving you no time to react. The electricity made you groan in pain. You use your spear as a stabiliser from falling to the ground but you were running out of energy at this point.
Before you could fall, Childe took a hold of your body. "See? It's not that hard to give up." You wanted to mutter a remark but darkness shrouded your vision before you fainted. You woke up in an unfamiliar room. Certainly not Liyue's architecture nor your homeland's. Your first thought was to look for an escape.
The door was locked.
Windows were barred.
The wardrobe had the clothes you brought with you across Teyvat along with some new ones.
There was a chain at your leg that's long enough to get you to the bathroom.
Your Vision and weapon was missing.
You waited in silence, pondering what to do. You certainly can't escape like this. But then you heard the door open. And as expected it was him. "Did you had a good sleep? You were knocked out for a while there." You scowled at him "Drop the act, where am I?" Childe hummed before answering "You're in Snezhnaya of course! Where else would I bring you? I'm quite lucky to be able to bring you here and visit my siblings! Say would you like to visi--" "Why would I do that?"
His grin dropped and his eyes stared at you. His eyes was....hollow...empty...devoid of any humanity in them. He walked towards you and you instinctively stepped back. He had you trapped against a wall. He lifted up your chin and let out a small but terrifying smile "Well, because your fate is in my hands. There's nothing you can do now, is there? But I'll forgive your behaviour for now.....if you sing that is."
You hated it. You hated the fact he was right. So you had no choice but to stay obedient and be his 'little songbird' until you found a window of opportunity. He lets go of your chin and sat down on a chair. With a heavy heart, you opened your mouth to sing.
You are the ocean's gray waves
Destined to seek life beyond the shore
Just out of reach
Childe smiled as you sing. He's sure you'll come around and fall in love with him soon enough.
Yet the water ever change
Flowing like time
The path is yours to climb
Shame that you can't meet his family yet. They would've love you. He can't wait for that day to arrive though. He can't help but feel joy. His little songbird, all his and no one else.
You are the ocean's gray waves.

Pop Music in Fire Emblem Fates: Analysis and Theories
Fire Emblem are a series of game of tactical roleplaying, with stories set in magical medieval fantasy lands. The gameplay is like an advanced rock-paper-scissor with medieval weapons and chess, if every piece of chess were an anime warrior with their own backstory.
The specific game(s) I’m going to talk about is Fire Emblem Fates, a story divided in 3 games (Fire Emblem Birthright, Fire Emblem Conquest and Fire Emblem Revelation) about Corrin (the customizable player avatar), a half dragon and half human anime boy/girl who was a prince/princess of a kingdom, then was kidnaped at a young age and raised in another kingdom, and then both kingdoms declare war against each other and Corrin has to choose which kingdom they are going to ally with. You choose your blood family in Fire Emblem Birthright and the family who raised you in Fire Emblem Conquest, and both in Fire Emblem Revelations but I’m not going to talk much about revelations. In Conquest you are in the side of the bad guy and in Birthright against him, but in both games you want to defeat it.
In brief, anime protagonist must choose side in a war, but both sides are against the king of one of the sides.
So, what role does music play in this game, and especially pop? Well in all the games you have a magical singer companion named Azura, who is somehow related to you (but not enough, so you can marry her). Azura sings a magical song that basically only her can sing, and the song does what you expect of a magical song (calm, heal, cheer, and in gameplay gives an extra action to an ally)
The magical song is called “Lost in thoughts all alone”. This song is the principal and most important song of the game, being singed a lot by Azura, played in the background in parts of the game and in the credits. The genre of the song is a bolero, having a slow rhythm and pure vocals.
In both Conquest and Birthright Azura sing in front of the evil king a fragment of the song, but in each game she sing a very different version.
(*some people call the fragment of the song “Azura’s dance” instead of “lost in thoughts all alone”, I’m going to call it “lost in thoughts all alone”*)
Link of the song: https://youtu.be/5mHB84WGorA
The first version of the song is the Hoshido version. This version is the same genre of “lost in thoughts all alone” that is being played throughout the game. This version is a bolero, the instruments are typical western orchestral instruments. The dance of this song is very graceful with little movement but resembling a little to ballet.
The second version of the song is the Nohr version. This version es clearly faster and more actual. This song combines western pop music with middle eastern sounds. The presence of middle easter sound or influence in western pop is nothing new, we can see it in “Toxic” of Britney Spears or in “I’m so good at yoga” of the crew of crazy ex-girlfriend (event though the last is more of a parody). The dance in this scene has a lot of belly dance, urban dance and hip moves, and in my opinion, it reminds a lot of Shakira. Sadly, this version of “Azura’s dance” don’t have a complete version (being “lost in thoughts all alone” the complete version”)
So why the developers decided to add a pop song in a Medieval themed game?
No one knows. There isn’t an official version.
My theory is in the gameplay. SPOILER ALERT ABOUT BOTH GAMES
In both games you go to the city of Cyrkensia, there lies a grand Opera House.
So, in Conquest you and Azura are against the evil king and you think that he’s a literal monster. When you are in the city you meet the famous songstress Layla but she wants to run away to be with her family, but the evil kings wants to see her sing, so with a little bit of magic Azura is perceived as Layla and sing the song she’s expected to sing. With the magic song she expects to show he’s a monster, but she only causes him discomfort.
On the other hand, in Conquest you and Azura are in the same army of the king, but she still wants to show he is a literal monster, so she put a costume so no one can tell who she is (but being honest, the wig of Hannah Montana is a better deceiver), and sing the opposite of what the king is supposed to hear. That give her the “woah factor” needed to impress him, because she wouldn’t have to be incognito when she leaves the opera, because she’s in his army. But even then the “woah factor” is not really a complete explanation, because that factor would let the king hear the whole song, but even then, the Hoshido version could do the job.
Or maybe the developers just wanted to do something different.
And that’s all the analysis and theory!

Lances: Eliwood vs Azura
@flammadepherae vs. @hitoriomcu Coin Toss: Azura Strikes first
“Lady Azura looks so graceful. I wonder how she wields her lance as a singer, don’t you, Chrom? Maybe Lady Olivia should compete in the next tournament, I’m sure she’ll be just as graceful.”
“Have you met Olivia? I’ve never seen someone move so gracefully as her, but she’s way to shy to sign up herself... Actually, I wonder if Basilio’s listening. He’ll probably write her name down for her. Moving on... ”
AZURA: 18 strike v. 17 defense
ELIWOOD: 9 strike v. 11 defense
AZURA: 8 stirke v. 18 defense
ELIWOOD: 12 strike v. 18 defense
AZURA: 11 strike v. 8 defense
ELIWOOD: 6 strike v. NAT 20 DEFENSE
Eliwood lunges, sending his lance forward in a powerful strike, but Azura dodged her head to the side. Eliwood’s lance tip hits the Hydrangea bloom she has tucked in her hair, sending purple petals flying. Azura, in her perfect dodge, moves in and strikes at Eliwood under his guard, scoring herself and extra strike.
“Gods... I know we have volunteers selling the flowers for their practical effects, but Azura really is something with those petals dancing around her. Too bad that it looks like even Eliwood was distracted for a moment there - Azura managed to sneak another strike in!”
AZURA: 10 strike v. 5 defense
ELIWOOD: 16 strike v. 7 defense
AZURA: 11 strike v. 17 defense
ELIWOOD: 18 strike v. 17 defense
ELIWOOD PEONY BONUS: 5 strike v. 17 defense
“Eliwood doesn’t look too bad himself, with those peony petals flying. Too bad they didn’t net him enough inspiration to get a third strike on Azura in a row... He nearly did it, but Azura has only just managed to beat him!”
AZURA VICTORY!!!

Berkut/Azura C-A Support

C SUPPORT
Berkut: Hmph! To think those fools from the so called Deliverance are in this place as well… Fernand is not here, and neither is my Rinea. They better come soon… Hm? Who is there?
Azura: Sing with me a song of Conquest and Fate, the black pillar cracks beneath its weight…
Berkut: That song… Those movements… You there!
Azura: Hm? Oh, I apologize. I didn’t see you there, Lord Berkut.
Berkut: (She danced with such grace and beauty… similar to that of my lovely Rinea…) What is your name, dancer?
Azura: You do not remember my name?
Berkut: We have met?
Azura: You and I have been paired up in battle before. Do you not recall my name?
Berkut: Hm… the Lady of the Lake, Azura, am I correct?
Azura: Yes, milord. Did you require something of me?
Berkut: No, I require nothing of you. You simply just reminded me of someone.
Azura: Lady Rinea, you mean?
Berkut: ?! How do you know her name?!
Azura: Peace, Lord Berkut. Sir Clive has told me that I look similar to Lady Rinea, if only by hair and similar color choices.
Berkut: Tch! Oh of course the leader of the Deliverance would tell you about my beloved. Filthy mongrel.
Azura: Lord Berkut. I do not have the patience to listen to you talk down to my companions. Here, everyone is equal, and we are staying under the roof of the royal family.
Berkut: How dare you! Talking to me as if I am some lowly man!
Azura: I grow tired of your tantrum, Lord Berkut. If you excuse me, I must be on my way.
Berkut: Good! Begone with you!
Azura: *walking away* What an insufferable man… he reminds me of Takumi.
Berkut: *to himself* Curse that dancer… But something about her is a mystery.

B SUPPORT
Azura: Phew… it is nice to just walk away after that training session. Lachesis was grateful enough to heal me… Perhaps I shall sing… wait, is that Lord Berkut? Is he feeding the birds?
Berkut: … While this castle maybe my temporary stay, the garden is well attended to. The birds here are perhaps close to those at Rinea’s garden… Eat up, there’s plenty more.
Azura: Lord Berkut?
Berkut: Who goes there?!
Azura: Peace, milord. It is only I, Azura.
Berkut: Oh dancer… what is it you want?
Azura: I have some to hide myself away and sing, yet here you are, feeding birds. I never thought I would see this sight.
Berkut: You will forget what you say here immediately, dancer.
Azura: I prefer singer. My dancing isn’t as well as the lady Olivia or lady Ninian.
Berkut: Dancers… There is only one dancer I consider to be perfect in every way.
Azura: Your beloved Rinea. Yes, I have heard that you two dance.
Berkut: Just who keeps telling you these things and how did they hear it?!
Azura: I admit, I was curious and I asked (y/n) and apparently they know much about us. They said that you are a power hungry man, you hate the common people, and there is only one thing below power you desire: Rinea.
Berkut: That Summoner! How dare they speak of me behind my back! I shall have their heads!
Azura: You will do no such thing. The Prince and Princess will stop you, as will their commander. Now, I suggest you try to compose yourself Lord Berkut. Enjoy the sunset, feed the birds. Perhaps maybe you would like to dance?
Berkut: I dance with no one, besides my partner.
Azura: Hm, truly? I didn’t take you for the loyal type.
Berkut: Are you insinuating that I would betray Rinea in this other world?! You are foolish. Rinea is the only woman I see as my equal, my Empress.
Azura: Ah… so you do love her.
Berkut: Of course I love her!
Azura: Good. Then be kind to her when you return. I am sure she is also a loyal wife, waiting for you.
Berkut: A-hem… She isn’t my wife yet.
Azura: No? How funny… I assumed you two were already married.
Berkut: Enough talk for today, singer.
Azura: Of course. Have a good evening, Lord Berkut.
Berkut: … Hm…
[Berkut and Azura reached support rank B.]
A SUPPORT
Berkut: Lady Azura?
Azura: Yes, Lord Berkut?
Berkut: I have a proposition to make to you.
Azura: You do? And what might that be?
Berkut: Tell me, do you long to return to your home?
Azura: My home? Yes. The World of Fate is my home, I am simply an accompanying unit to Corrin.
Berkut: You talk as if you are a loyal dog.
Azura: *stern* Why did you seek me out, Lord Berkut?
Berkut: I wish for you to attend my wedding.
Azura: Your wedding… With Lady Rinea?
Berkut: Yes. I want you to sing at the wedding.
Azura: Oh my! I never- I never expected you to just want me to come. Aren’t I a lowly common person?
Berkut: Your Corrin says otherwise.
Azura: … Which one?
Berkut: Both of them. They both have said you are a princess of Nohr, correct?
Azura: … Yes. I am a princess of Nohr.
Berkut: The forgive me for my rude words, Lady Azura.
Azura: … You will speak evenly to our comrades, not lowly as if they were animals.
Berkut: Tch!
Azura: If you promise, I will discuss with the Summoner to have me attend the wedding, and then return to my world of Fate.
Berkut: You would go back? Even if it means your predetermined death?
Azura: Yes. I would die for Corrin, both of them, because I love them.
Berkut: Loyal… Fine. I accept your terms
Azura: Excellent. Then I promise this: I shall sing the best tune of mine for your wedding, and I shall sing about your love for Rinea, and how her loyalty is like no others.
Berkut: That song will be the greatest anyone has ever heard, Lady Azura. And only my world shall experience it. You have my gratitude.
Azura: You are most welcome, Lord Berkut.

Sunshine
Written for Azurrin Week Day Two
Read on AO3
“Mama,” Kana murmurs, trying to hide her yawn. “Will you sing me a song?”
Azura pats her daughter’s hair, hoping to soothe her. Shigure, still just shy of having his own room, lays on his bed, pretending to be asleep; she can feel his eyes on her. “A lullaby?”
“…Lullabies are for babies,” Kana pouts.
Azura puts her finger to her lips and speaks in a whisper. “Your father likes lullabies.”
Kana’s mouth falls open. It opens and closes a couple times, and then finally, she lays back down on her pillow with a loud flop. “Okay.”
It’s hard for Azura to hide her laugh. “All right… Just a little. I found a new one in the library. I’ll sing it for you.”
She took a breath, and sang out in a clear voice:
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You never know, dear, how much I love you,
Please don't take my sunshine away.
She trails off, and Kana blinks open her sleepy eyes and hazily murmurs, “Tha’s short.”
Azura just smiles. “I’m afraid I still need to learn the rest of the song,” she says. She leans over and kisses Kana’s forehead. “Goodnight, my little princess.”
“G’night,” Kana whispers, closing her eyes.
Azura gets up and kisses Shigure’s forehead—he doesn’t stir at all, which is even more evidence to his being awake, since he’s such a light sleeper—and leaves for her room. Corrin hasn’t even changed from his kingly robes, sitting at his desk and going over reports from his siblings. Azura walks up to him and runs her hand playfully through his hair.
“Oh, hello,” he says, turning toward her. She leans down to peck his lips with a kiss. “Are they asleep?”
“Shigure was pretending to. I still can’t figure out why he does that.”
“I liked to try to escape my room and go spy on Felicia and Jakob. Gunter always caught me, though.” Corrin laughs for a moment before calming. “But he’s been trying to come into our bed for the past week—he could be just waiting for us to fall asleep so he can sneak in. Maybe it’s bad dreams.”
“I hope not,” Azura says quietly. She’s had more than her fair share of them, and she would hate for her son to suffer the same. “Maybe he just wants to listen to me sing to Kana without seeming too eager.”
“All embarrassed, then?” Corrin smiles. “There’s nothing wrong with wanting to listen to your mother sing. And he likes to sing. But, I suppose he’ll come around.”
Azura hums in thought. “I hope so.”
()()()
She’s going over letters from Elise—personal and professional ones, for once—when someone tugs on her dress. Azura looks to see little Shigure standing beside her, his head barely up to her chest while she sits. His cheeks are red, and he can’t meet her eyes.
She puts down the letter on her desk. “What is it, Shigure?”
He peers up at her with his big, golden eyes, and then quickly looks down again. “I… want to hear more of that song.”
“Oh?” She pats his head. “The one I sang the other night?”
He nods.
“I thought you were asleep,” she can’t help but say, and she also can’t help the smile that twists on her lips.
“I wasn’t,” he says in a small voice, and guilt pricks at Azura’s heart. She picks him up and puts him on her lap, and he snuggles against her.
“Hmm, well, it’s a really sad song,” Azura says. “Do you really want to learn it?”
He nods again. “It sounded pretty.”
“All right…” She sings the first stanza. It’s an easy tune, slow and drawn out, and Shigure easily falls into the sound. It takes a few tries for him to memorize the words, and she smiles and kisses his forehead, congratulating him before she continues on with the next stanza, holding him close:
The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping,
I dreamt I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken,
So I hung my head, and I cried.
()()()
“Mother?”
Azura is writing a letter. “What is it?” she asks, finishing the sentence before putting her quill in the inkwell. She looks toward the doorway of the study, and Shigure is standing there. He’s sweating a bit, still in his pegasus riding gear. He pushes his hair out of his face—she can’t fathom why he would wear his bangs in front of his eye like that—and he seems excited, but agitated.
“What was that song you taught me as a child?”
She frowns. “I taught you a lot.”
“I mean…” He shakes his head, and then hums a tune. “I can’t remember the lyrics. Kana was humming it as she was practicing her dancing. It was stuck in my head on my whole flight.”
“Oh…” Azura hums the tune herself, and then snaps her fingers. “You are My Sunshine. I found it in the library. It’s an old song.”
She sings the first line, and Shigure quickly joins in, his deeper voice strengthening the sound of hers. They go through the first stanza, and then the second, and then the refrain—but then, they both hesitate, and the song stops.
“It’s been so long,” Shigure murmurs.
Azura nods. “I can’t remember the rest. How about I look it up, and then later we can go over it?”
He nods. “Kana promised to model for a painting for me. I would join you, otherwise.”
“It’s fine. Go spend time with your sister.”
Shigure thanks her and heads off. Azura turns back to her letters, humming the tune.
()()()
I'll always love you and make you happy,
If you will only say the same.
But if you leave me to love another,
You'll regret it all one day.
Corrin raises an eyebrow as he lays beside Azura in their bed. “Is there something you want to talk to me about, dear?”
She laughs. “It’s a song I used to sing for Shigure and Kana when they were little. Shigure came in today singing part of it, so I went and found it in the library. Do you remember it?”
“I think I would have remembered hearing such a dark verse sung to our children.”
“I think that’s an optional verse? I don’t remember singing this one very often, if at all.” The moonlight streams through the window and highlights her pale hand as she rubs Corrin’s arm. “The song always struck me as a mother speaking to her children, for some reason. This verse sounds much more like a possessive lover.”
Corrin chuckles. “Should I be worried?”
Azura pulls him closer, a small laugh bubbling from her lips. “Well, dear, you’re getting a little old, so I don’t worry as much about ‘another woman.’”
“I really don’t know how to take that comment.”
“I only tease.”
“Well you, my sweet,” he says, kissing her lips, “look as beautiful as the day I met you. So forgive me if I’m a little more worried than you are about ‘leaving me to love another.’”
“Such little faith in me, I see.”
“Hey!”
“I’m teasing.”
()()()
Shigure presses his lips together as he looks at the paper. His mother’s neat handwriting is beside the middle stanza, reading, Perhaps it’s best to leave this out, if the singer is going for a more familial tone, rather than that of a lover. But I can’t say that mothers either are happy about their children spending more and more time away from them.
“It’s such a sad song,” Kana says, leaning over his shoulder. She’s practically laying on top of his back as he sits in his chair. “I remember her singing it a little.”
“It’s a soothing melody. Beautiful for a lullaby,” Shigure says. He reaches back and rather carelessly pats Kana’s head; her signature bun has been abandoned for the day, and her long, light blue hair spills all over her shoulders.
“If you start singing it to the baby now, maybe they’ll end up a good singer by the time they come out,” Kana teases.
“So long as you don’t sing with your tone-deaf voice, dear sister.”
“Hey!”
“I inherited Mother’s voice, and you, her grace. It would be unfair for one of us to have both, don’t you think?”
Kana stands up straight, hands on her hips, and huffs. It still makes her look like a child, even though she’s nearing adulthood. “You’re so clumsy off your pegasus; you’d better be careful with your baby when they come.”
“I won’t drop them. And please don’t make them deaf with your singing.”
“Shigure!”
He laughs and stands, picking up the paper. “Mother will love that I’ve found this song. Will you let her know I’ve found it when you practice dancing together?”
“Only if you apologize.”
Shigure raises an eyebrow at her. “I apologize…for telling you the truth.”
“Hey!”
()()()
Shigure’s wife smiles at him when he comes into their quarters. He pecks her lips and puts a hand on her rounded stomach. “I found a lullaby my mother used to sing for me and Kana.”
“Oh? Do share. I’m sure the baby will love it.”
He can’t resist it.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You never know, dear, how much I love you,
Please don't take my sunshine away.

Okay, maybe the sequel would be a bad idea. How does a story about Shigure and Dwyer as brothers sound? The setting I had in mind was one of the realities that Azura died. Shigure and Dwyer try adventuring (tagging along with the same group as before) and Jakob is drastically searching for them all the meanwhile. This leads to the two of them watching and slowly getting influenced by male role models Jakob would be ashamed of in the process.
Let me assure you there are no bad ideas! I want to encourage everyone to give me whatever requests that come to mind, and I the writer will try my best to fulfill them!
This kinda ran free a bit, as you can probably grasp from the word count, but I think I did well. A bit off topic from the request, the brothers not so much getting influenced as Jakob worrying about them being influenced, but I hope you like it!
Words: 4973
“I knew I'd find you here,” a sigh came from behind, Shigure jolting up to face the new comer.
He paused to run his face with his arm, “What do you want Dwyer?” he said shortly.
Dwyer stepped into the forest clearing holding two steaming cups, “Here,” he push one of them into Shigure's hand before taking a sip of his own.
“What is it?” Shigure asked tentatively.
“Just try it,” Dwyer replied his eyes set on his older brother expectantly. Shigure sighed, then took a sip. His eyes widened, then took a proper drink. He sat down again on the stump he had been sitting on, tears returning to his eyes.
“Thank you,” Shigure sniffed.
“Anything for my brother,” Dwyer's eyes had conveniently closed, looking like he was savoring his tea. “How did you find it?” Shigure asked after re-composing himself.
“I didn't, I made it,” Dwyer shrugged, “Looks like Father's training didn't go to waste after all,”
There was a period of silence as the boys drank their tea. After they finished, Dwyer took both the cups and put them in a padded pouch to protect them until he could return them to their father, Jakob's cabinet.
“Father won't be pleased if he finds those cups missing,” Shigure sniffed.
“They were Mother's cups, so I figured he'd have no place to complain,” Dwyer said flatly, “Not that he won't anyway, nothing I do seems to impress him, so naturally I've given up trying. It's not like I care anyway,”
“You say that, yet you always smile when Mother complimented your tea or your coffee,” Shigure grinned slyly.
“That's because Mother didn't want to make me into a butler,” Dwyer put his face into his hand, his hair falling in his eyes, “Sadly I was never good at singing like you were, so getting out of lessons with Father became impossible,”
“Mother never loved you any less because of it,” Shigure reassured his younger brother, “Father noticed how much you liked to help Mother around the house when she visited, I think he was just trying to help you be better at it, so when we had a real house you could do things for her,”
“That's not how Father sees it,” Dwyer grumbled, “All he sees is a boy who by all accounts is utterly useless and as such has deemed it necessary to use force in giving me purpose, even if it's pointless,”
“You're not useless Dwyer, why you're very talented with your drinks, even more than Father, but outside of that, you do really good work around camp, and you really do care about everyone,” Shigure smiled.
“Nah, I'm just a layabout, like father always says,” Dwyer sighed.
“Well he's wrong,” Shigure insisted, “You made me Mother's tea after all, I didn't even know her recipe,”
“I thought it would make you feel a bit better, I know you always loved her tea,” Dwyer said, “I made it the way she always loved, I even added a bit of honey like she always did,”
“Thank you Dwyer, I feel a bit better,” Shigure nodded to him.
“Now if only I could avoid Father's daily lesson for longer,” Dwyer sank again.
“I think I know how,” Shigure grinned, “Come with me,”
“Are you quite sure?” Yukimura asked again.
“I am,” Shigure nodded.
“Um,” Dwyer paused glancing at the other three gathered at the castle gate.
“If you don't think you can handle a simple scouting mission, perhaps you can go buttle with your father some more,” Niles sneered at the boy. Dwyer knew his father and Niles had a distinct dislike for one another, he could vaguely see why.
“Dwyer, It's only a scouting mission,” Shigure urged, “Corrin is always saying us kids need more real world experience if he's going to let us fight with him,”
“What if I don't want to fight,” Dwyer scowled, “I'd rather be subjected to the ice twins,”
Shigure pondered for a moment, “Remember when we collected you, what you said to father?”
“That I would rather let others do the fighting,” Dwyer grumbled, “Much to his dismay,”
“But you also told him that healing is just as important as fighting,” Shigure recalled, “If you can become a better healer on the field maybe we can prevent anyone else from having to go through what we did,”
“Let's go,” Dwyer said without any remaining hesitation.
“Well then, mount up you two and don't forget your weapons,” Niles nodded.
“Oh, can I ride with you?” Izana addressed Dwyer, “I can give you some killer tips on the way, for healing and great hair,”
“I'll pass,” Dwyer shied away from the diviner.
“Ehehe, good, more targets for the enemy that aren't me-OW!” Zola muttered gleefully until Niles cracked him across the head.
“You put those boys in danger and I will personally assist Niles in finding a way to leave you behind,” Yukimura spoke evenly, but the pinch of his eyebrows betrayed his disdain.
Zola glanced hesitantly from one man to the other and wisely decided to keep his mouth firmly shut.
“Okay, so were going to check out the territory around the forest we're in, so you two keep close, and keep your eyes peeled not just for soldiers, but for faceless too,” Yukimura outlined, then began elaborating on what they were looking for and what to do if engaged by an enemy.
“Tell me, little singer, did you tell Corrin you were joining us?” Izana whispered to Shigure who stiffened, letting out a stammered no after a few moments, “I thought not,”
“You're not going to tell us to stay?” Shigure said after waiting for the lecture on how irresponsible it was to leave without saying anything that his father would have dished out without a second thought.
“Heavens no,” Izana chuckled, “I just thought I'd ask,” the sly grin on Izana's face made Shigure shiver, knowing of the man's talent for foresight, wondered what he must know.
As the scouting party departed with it's two extra members, Jakob was in the mess kitchen preparing Lord Corrin's afternoon tea and some scones to go with it. He tapped his foot impatiently, expecting any moment for his younger son to come sliding through the door pretending he wasn't late on purpose.
Corrin, on the other hand, was on his balcony watching the party leave. He seemed almost pleased that they had picked up a couple extra volunteers, not realizing who they were since his tree house was near the back of the castle, making it easier to protect from invaders which were uncommon, but definitely a concern. Corrin spotted Jakob strutting across the lawn and towards his house and went inside to greet his loyal butler.
His loyal butler came in wearing a poorly disguised scowl and might have been muttering to himself before Corrin had opened the door, “My Lord,” he started before clearing his throat and his expression, “your tea, I also prepared some scones for you to sample if it please you,”“Thank you Jakob, I was getting a bit hungry going over the plan for the next battle,” Corrin nodded, allowing the butler through before shutting the door, “Once the scouting party returns with more information on the lay of the land, then I will have a better idea who's suited to fight here,”
“We all know your siblings will go regardless,” Jakob sniffed, “All of them,” he had been increasingly vigilant around Corrin as of late since the entire Nohrian and Hoshidan Royal families had joined forces.
“As true as that is, they are our best fighters,” Corrin shrugged, “As long as I don't pair them off incorrectly,” He recalled the time he had put Takumi and Camilla on the same team. Needless to say, his young brother did not take Camilla's stifling personality with much grace. But it hadn't been all bad when Corrin had caught Leo in conversation with Takumi discussing how best to avoid his sister's outbursts of love.
“I still don't understand why Lady Azura can't simply tell us where to go,” Jakob said pointedly.
“She doesn't know this land any better than I do,” Corrin's face darkened, “Our mothers couldn't exactly draw us a map, or tell us about our birthplace,”
“It is as you say,” Jakob said cutting the topic short, despite his continual misgivings. He poured the tea into a cup for his prince and set it out with a couple lumps of sugar. One he knew would make it into the tea, the other would be sneakily popped into the mouth of his sweet-toothed liege. It had always been that way as long as Jakob could remember, ever since Jakob had witnessed the Prince get chided for eating the cubes and then complaining his tea wasn't sweet enough. That was back when he was inexperienced and clumsy, but when he had set the saucer down with two lumps instead of just one, the look of glee on Corrin's face had shined.
“I thought Dwyer was going to help you again today? I was looking forward to things being a little cleaner,” Corrin inquired breaking the butler from his reverie
“I thought so too, my Lord,” Jakob scowled again, “I don't know why the boy makes this so difficult,”
“Perhaps he just needed a break,” Corrin shrugged, taking a bite of one of the scones.
“He is lazy,” Jakob muttered, “But he does tend to get things done just to spite me,”
“Well he has to be somewhere, why don't you go see if he's in the stables taking care of his horse, he does care for her, that lucky mare,” Corrin chuckled, “You can always remind him of his lesson,”
“If My Lord insists, I will return, with or without my son,” Jakob turned and bowed before exiting.
“Stay alert boys, this is uncharted territory, don't go running off and getting mauled,” Niles had his bow at the ready, “That goes for you too, Shigure, Dwyer,”
“I suggest we fan out,” Yukimura suggested, “Shigure can fly just above us to get an aerial view, while Dwyer can keep in the middle of the group for quick support should one of us have any unwanted encounters.
“Won't it be hard to see with all these trees?” Zola asked incredulously.
“The worm has a point,” Niles clucked his tongue, “We should keep close as a group on the ground. Shigure, you will still be most useful up above the trees, but it will leave you vulnerable to archers, are you positive you are ready for the risk?”
“I'm ready,” Shigure directed his pegasus up through a break in the canopy and hovered above them. Dwyer looked up nervously, Izana sidled up beside him, “Just keep your staff at the ready and we'll all be fine, have faith in your brother,” Dwyer eyed the Onmyoji but then returned his attention to the rider above them, keeping his eyes peeled.
“Not there!” Jakob burst into the tree house earning startled grunt from his Lord.
“What?” Corrin asked when his butler didn't continue.
“Not what, but who,” he put a hand to his face, “Neither Dwyer nor his horse was in the stables,”
“So perhaps they went for a ride?” Corrin didn't see cause for alarm.
“Shigure's pegasus was also absent,” Jakob added.
“They went for a ride together, maybe their just bonding?” Corrin shrugged turning back to his work. After a few moments, he stiffened.
“My Lord?” Jakob said tentatively.
“That scouting party, the one I left to Niles,” Corrin began, pausing to shoot a nervous glance back to his butler.
“Gods not them again, I don't understand why you continue putting those incompetent, untrustworthy fools together,” Jakob voiced his opinion, “What does that band of miscreants have to do with my sons?”
“I might have seen them leave with two extra bodies,” Corrin started hesitantly, then when Jakob didn't clue in, “A pegasus rider and a troubadour,”
A long moment passed as Jakob processed the meaning of what his liege was suggesting. Corrin swore he could see the man's face drain of color with every second that passed.
“Jakob?” Corrin prompted after waiting patiently for the man to respond.
Jakob snapped out of it and stiffly went to the door, bowed deeply, and then shut the door ever so gently without saying a word before Corrin heard the desperate scrabble of his feet as he ran off.
“That's when she slapped me,” Niles chuckled, having been telling a story on his last attempt at flirting with the women in the camp. No one bothered telling him to stop simply because he'd continue speaking anyway.
Shigure was glad to be up above the trees where he could only barely hear. He knew Niles was a slimy man, but he seemed like he knew what he was doing. At the very least he called up every few minutes to ask if he'd seen anything. All Shigure could see was trees, there wasn't a clearing in sight.
Dwyer down below was having no better luck, there were lots of trees, and plenty of exposed roots. He was glad his horse was sure-footed because as far as he could tell this area was rife with difficult terrain. The stooped mage Zola tripped every few feet it seemed.
“You're a healer, right? Help me,” Zola pleaded, “Let me ride on your horse at the very least,”
“No,” Dwyer replied flatly clutching his staff. This man was a rat, and everyone but Corrin seemed to distrust him. Perhaps the other men with them had a bit of trust for him, a small waiver of it that kept them from tying him up and finding a tree to string him up on.
“Aw come on, this place is so dangerous,” The mage continued to snivel.
“It is not this place that is so dangerous,” Dwyer said coldly, “I think you are simply a danger to yourself. I'll heal you if something serious happens, but until then, you should return to the formation and keep walking, perhaps pay some mind to where you put your feet,”
“Spoken like a true son of our dear butler,” Niles seemed to have finished his story and had fallen back.
“He's not your butler, his only allegiance was to Corrin and -” Dwyer stopped the sentence short.
“To whom?” Niles gave him a probing look, “Do tell,”
“You know very well what the boy meant,” Yukimura joined the group giving Niles a hard look, “I'm aware of your low opinion of the man, but he is not him.”
Niles met the look with an unwavering stare, “I'll keep that in mind,” and turned away, “We should get moving again if we hope to be back by dark,”
“A snake, an old man, a fruit and a traitor!” Jakob gritted his teeth, “Why would they go with those... those pack of fools,”
“Is there something I can help you with?” Xander came up to the butler.
“Er, No My Lord Xander, I was merely searching for my sons,” Jakob straightened himself properly.
“Perhaps they are training with the other children,” Xander suggested.
“I suppose I must rephrase,” Jakob cleared his throat, “I know where they are, just not precisely where, but more so with whom,”
“Who are they with today?” Xander asked politely.
“It seems they have gone out with the scouting party,” Jakob tried to conceal his disgust and failed.
“You don't approve,” Xander nodded, “It's not my place to say, but I think that learning to scout is a fine way for them to help the army,”
“That's not the issue,” Jakob groaned, “Excuse my brashness, but I don't doubt my sons out there as much as I doubt the competency of those they are with,”
“I assure you, They might not seem it, but Corrin can surely attest to their successes,” Xander shrugged.
“I can't say I care,” Jakob huffed, “as far as I'm concerned, they are a pack of dogs. I can't have my sons learning from them,”
“Yukimura is a strategist, I think I'd even let my son learn from him,” Xander pointed out.
“Would you want him to pick up Niles vile speech, or gods help me, Zola's cowardice?”
“Fair point,” Xander conceded, “I wish you luck, I must go ensure the weaponry is well stocked for the next battle,”
“A bunch of birds just sprung out of the trees,” Shigure shouted down, “It's about fifty yards to the south of us,”
“Good eye,” Niles yelled back up, “Keep up there for now, if you see any more movement call, but otherwise be ready for the signal to come down to us!”
Shigure called back his agreement and readied his lance. He kept his eyes on the spot where he had seen the birds come from.
Dwyer was still clutching his staff in one hand, his reins in the other, feeling uneasy. He looked towards Izana who had pulled in closer to the group, where normally he'd be grinning and humming as he walked, now he had a serious expression on his face and was walking lightly, making very little sound. If fact the only sounds came from Zola who couldn't tread lightly to save his life apparently. Dwyer grunted and swung his horse around, grabbing the mage by the collar and dragging him up onto his horse, silencing the mage before he could make some outrageous speech of thanks or complain about how roughly he had been treated. Dwyer could never tell, but he was glad that Zola had at least taken out his tome.
They went towards where Shigure had indicated and made it about 30 yards before Niles made a motion to stop. They all listened carefully
thud
Thud
THUD
A growl became apparent as a hulking disfigured monster stumbled past the line of trees in front of them. The Faceless let out a roar and as it did, the party was made aware of four others, who returned the noise at varying distances.
“Shigure! Get down here and cover your brother!” Niles called as one of the closer faceless stepped out from Dwyer's left where Zola had been stationed. Zola flipped open his tome and cast a spell, which grazed the arm of the monster but didn't slow its advance. Niles had begun planting arrows in the first one they had found while Yukimura was keeping his eyes out for the three other's they could not see, keeping close enough to Niles to provide covering fire.
Shigure swooped down, slashing his spear across the chest of the creature, his pegasus rearing at the last second to add its own kick to the attack. They backed off just in time for the thing to wind up a fist and take a lunging swing at them.
“It's a good thing that they can't use bows huh?” Dwyer grunted.
“Yeah, they might be big, but they sure are slow,” Shigure waited for it to take another swing before diving back in and landing a few more hits.
Another Faceless came into sight, prompting Izana to join the fight alongside the mechanist firing arrows and shuriken from his puppet mount.
It wasn't long before the three that they were fighting were dispatched, melting into the ground as the magic that kept their bodies together fizzled out. The men were given no time to rest though, as two roars were heard just ahead. Instead of waiting it out, the group moved towards the source and found two larger faceless in a small clearing. Shigure wound up to attack right away before the other's could react. He had been counting on slow sluggish movements, but these faceless were better put together, and faster than the others. One of them took a swing that Shigure just barely avoided, only to send him straight into the second monster's fist, sending boy and pegasus flying.
“No!” Dwyer cried, making to run in too, but Izana jumped in front of him.
“If you get hit too, then you can't help him,” he reasoned before sending a spell flying, the spirit tiger pouncing on the faceless and bursting into sparks. Arrows were flying and Zola had jumped off of Dwyer's horse, firing lightning at the monsters too. Dwyer felt a surge of anxiety, he couldn't do anything, he couldn't even go to his brother who was struggling to push himself up. Dwyer saw that all the adults were occupied, and instantly put a heel to his horse, ducking into the trees and going around the clearing until he reached Shigure.
“I'm here to help,” He hopped off his horse, using one charge of his staff on the pegasus and one on his brother before pulling him to his feet.
“Look out!” came a yell, and a fist crashed down in front of them. Shigure snatched up his lance and placed himself in front of Dwyer. Their mounts had fled into the trees behind them.
“Shigure, don't...” Dwyer grabbed the elder's sleeve, tugging.
“I have to,” Shigure broke out of the grip and leaped up to the monster, stabbing its fleshy body before jumping back, rolling to the side to avoid another fist. Dwyer watched as he did this a few times, a couple arrows sprouted out of the monster's back, meaning they had support, but the monster was honed in on the very convenient target in front of it. It wound up with one arm, but then it swung, winding up the other arms to attack again.
“Shigure!” Dwyer called, “Hey monster!” he ran closer, taking a dagger out of his boot, one his father had insisted he keep. He threw the dagger and it missed, but evidently it was enough to peak the creature's interest because now it was charging him.
“Dwyer no!” Shigure dashed after the monster, then overtook it to grab his younger brother and throw him back. He took the brunt of the hit and was also thrown back to where Dwyer lay as well. There was a lot of yelling and someone had finally made their way over to them to fight the monster off.
“That was really stupid you know,” Shigure coughed.
“Are you kidding me!?” Dwyer snapped, “Look at you, your bleeding, your wrist is already swelling and I'll bet 20 silver that you have a concussion,”
“Better me than you,” Shigure grunted.
“Bullshit,” Dwyer crawled a couple feet to retrieve his staff and crawled back to his older brother, “I know you blame yourself for what happened to mother, but it wasn't your fault, I blame myself too, but it isn't my fault either.”
“Turn over,” Dwyer ordered Shigure, “I've seen you training, but if you're just going to throw yourself at the enemies without thinking, what's the point?”
“Take off your gauntlet,” another order, “Even I grew up with with a modicum of self-preservation, and I know we grew up in different deep realms, but seriously, did they teach you anything?”
“They taught me to protect what was important to me,” Shigure whispered. Dwyer stopped his rant short, looking surprised before returning to cleaning out the wound on Shigure's head with supplies from his small healers kit.
“Mother taught me that,” Dwyer said finally, “I didn't get it at first,”
“I think you've got the idea,” Shigure cracked a smile, “Now your reason for sticking to healing, is it really about the importance of healing or is it because you can't wield a dagger like father can?”
“I'm just fine with a dagger,” Dwyer sniffed, “I was just scared I'd hit you,”
“Oh is that it?” Shigure nudged him.
“Yep, that's it,” Dwyer maintained.
Lilith had insisted that the portal would likely spit him out in a different location than the others and that if he went know their return portal would close. So Jakob had taking up sentry at the gate, pacing in front of it gritting his teeth.
“They should have been back already, where are they?” he huffed.
“If they found anything, yes, but they still have half an hour until sundown,” Flora reminded him irritably.
“What if they ran into trouble, what then?” Jakob posed angerly.
“I should have told Lilith to let you go after them,” Flora sighed heavily, “They will be fine, they will take care of each other,”
“Oh I just hope they haven't picked up any of that drivel,” Jakob grumbled.
“you're worried about their social presentation?” Flora gasped, “and here I thought you had changed, but you are the same old rod straight manners-over-all butler,”
“I am worried about their well being,” Jakob scoffed, “the title of ice heart has always belonged to you Flora,”
“Only for you Jakob,” Flora smiled.
“Are you boys okay?” Yukimura approached the two while the others tried to retrieve their mounts.
“I'll live, I have my brother to thank for that,” Shigure was all bandaged up, but Dwyer had insisted he stay lying down, he had even folded his coat into a makeshift cushion for his head.
“I am unharmed,” Dwyer said shortly, then after a second, “Thank Shigure for that. Does anyone need any healing?”
“I think Izana might need some, but the others can wait till we get back, and don't believe Zola when he tells you he brought down the beast, it actually just fell on him after he let off his spell. He could probably use a quick heal too, if you deem it a necessary thing,” Yukimura told him.
“If it will stop him from complaining the whole way back, than yes,” Dwyer sighed, getting up and making his way towards the others, but after a few steps he turned, “Don't let him get up until we're ready to leave,”
“For the last time, I'll stay still, you don't have to set an adult on me,” Shigure argued, but Dwyer had already moved out of hearing range.
“What a caring younger brother,” Yukimura chuckled, “a younger brother's devotion is not one to be toyed with, I have experienced that first hand,”
“If it is anything like my father's is to Lord Corrin, then I imagine not,” Shigure laughed dryly.
“I've come to realize that is a special case,” Yukimura made a face, “I think a better comparison that you might have seen is Prince Corrin and Crown Prince Xander,”
“I think I understand, Lord Corrin would do anything for his brother, any of them really, but especially Xander,” Shigure looked thoughtful, “I want to be like Lord Xander and protect my brother,”
“You did a good job of that, now I think they've got the mounts sorted, and it's time to go,” Yukimura offered a hand to the teenager and with Dwyer's help, got him on his pegasus.
“The portal is opening up, they are back,” Flora alerted. Jakob jumping up and rushing from the guard post to see the arrival. Izana came in first dragging a whining Zola behind him. Next came Niles and Yukimura discussing what to tell Corrin.
Last through was a pegasus and a horse side by side with the two blue haired boys. The pegasus rider noted his father's presence and set down beside him, Dwyer following on his horse.
“Flora take the horse and the pegasus back to the stables and make sure they are properly taken care of,” Flora obeyed Jakobs request without complaint. Shigure and Dwyer stood awkwardly side by side waiting to be reamed out.
Instead they were both caught in a hug, something neither of them had come to expect from their father.
“You're safe,” Jakob said finally, “Shigure, you're hurt,” he drew back scrutinizing the injuries.
“Uh, yeah, Dwyer took care of them as best he could,” Shigure told him.
“Shigure has a concussion,” Dwyer mumbled, head down.
Jakob looked between his sons before sighing, “Let's get you home so I can have a look,” he put a hand on Dwyer's shoulder, “You did a good job with the rest, you will need to recheck those wounds tomorrow though,”
“Wait me?” Dwyer looked up now.
“Yes, you can handle it, I trust you,” Jakob turned to lead them back to their quarters, “If you handled a dagger half as well as you cleaned wounds, you would be a better butler than me,”
“Hah, pretty sure that's already true, me being a better butler, cause I vaguely remember Corrin saying my coffee was better than yours,” Dwyer grinned defiantly.
“I think this calls for a contest, in fact let's get all the royals together for it this time,” Jakob sniffed, “Then I will show you that experience trumps all,”
“It's on,” Dwyer snorted.
“I know how heated you two get over drinks, but do you think we could get home soon, I feel a bit dizzy,” Shigure groaned looking a bit unsteady. The other two stopped suddenly, then resolved to finish their discussion later in favor of taking care of family first.

As the child of a country and a war she             can’t remember, Bui’s dreamlike artwork brings to life her journey             to understanding her own identity in a way that only comics can.
Thi Bui was born in Vietnam three        months before the end of the Vietnam War, and came to the United States        in 1978 as part of the “boat people” wave of refugees from Southeast        Asia. Hanif        Abdurraqib at Elliott Bay Book Company
Elliott Bay Book Company presents Hanif Abdurraqib for        his New York Times Bestselling book GO AHEAD IN THE RAIN.
How             does one pay homage to A Tribe Called Quest? The seminal rap group             brought jazz into the genre, resurrecting timeless rhythms to             create masterpieces such as The Low End Theory and Midnight             Marauders. Seventeen years after their last album, they resurrected             themselves with an intense, socially conscious record, We Got It             from Here . . . Thank You 4 Your Service, which arrived when fans             needed it most, in the aftermath of the 2016 election. Poet and             essayist Hanif Abdurraqib digs into the group’s history and draws             from his own experience to reflect on how its distinctive sound             resonated among fans like himself. The result is as ambitious and             genre-bending as the rap group itself.
Abdurraqib traces the Tribe’s creative career, from        their early days as part of the Afrocentric rap collective known as the        Native Tongues, through their first three classic albums, to their        eventual breakup and long hiatus. Their work is placed in the context        of the broader rap landscape of the 1990s, one upended by sampling laws        that forced a reinvention in production methods, the East Coast-West        Coast rivalry that threatened to destroy the genre, and some record        labels’ shift from focusing on groups to individual MCs. Throughout the        narrative Abdurraqib connects the music and cultural history to their        street-level impact. Whether he’s remembering The Source magazine cover        announcing the Tribe’s 1998 breakup or writing personal letters to the        group after bandmate Phife Dawg’s death, Abdurraqib seeks the deeper        truths of A Tribe Called Quest; truths that—like the low end, the        bass—are not simply heard in the head, but felt in the chest.                This event is Free and Open to the Public.

A little bit of light slipped into Kamui’s eyes, causing the woman to groan and turn over in her bed. The bed seemed a bit small, and Kamui huddled into herself, hands gripping the blankets edges with a death grip. “Let me sleep...” She mumbled, trying to block out the light that was slipping through.
“I’m afraid that isn’t possible, milady.” An oddly familiar voice responded.
What.
Kamui peeked open her eyes, moving the blanket from hiding her eyesight. Looking back at her was a black-haired woman, with a ponytail pulled back with a white tie, with no strands covering her face. She wore an outfit befitting an adventurer, with a big, goldish-yellow bowcape wrapped around her shoulders. The outfit itself was a pale red color.
What in the name of Anankos...?
“Milady, did you stay up late?” Kagero said, her slight smile turning into a frown.
A man with untamed, long brown hair, who was previously picking at something on his red and purple arm guard, stammered, “W-Well, at least she woke up wh-when we lit her room! Ah, I think Azura has your clothes though...”
Why the hell is Ryoma talking like Felicia?! Why does Kagero not have her face covered? Why are they in my room back at-
Kamui looked away from them for a moment, and her heart fell.
my room back in the nohrian fortress?
It’s dark outside the window. It looks super early, like they woke her up before the sun rose... Was she really back at the very beginning?
“Hello, Milady. I have your armor and actual clothes ready.” Azura said, lifting up her ears from her head. The blue-haired lady pointed a tail in the direction of the doorway, where another blue-haired woman stood, her ears pointed downward and a hand over her face. Azura snickered, “Unlike miss old dog over here, I actually remembered that you didn’t wear the flower dresses to the outside world!”
The blue-haired ‘dog’ lowered her hand from her face, showing multitudes of scars slashing diagonally across it. Flora growled, smirking, “Well, at least I even remembered what day it was! I thought foxes were supposed to be serene and graceful, so I assumed you would know.”
What the hell.
“Hmm... good point. I assumed you would be distant because of your record, hehe~” Azura’s tail waved as she placed the clothes and armor pieces on the foot of Kamui’s smaller bed.
This is NOT normal in any way. Azura is NOT a kitsune. She wouldn’t just laugh like that, or jab at others so openly! She’s not the quiet singer...
“Ah, but then you met me. I’m your pack leader now, aren’t I, aren’t I?” Flora’s tail wagged, ears perking up slightly.
WHY IS FLORA A WOLF WHY IS SHE SO FRIENDLY? She admitted to me herself that she wasn’t that skilled with fighting at first, now she’s talking about... being old....
she has scars...
Is she Gunter? Is she in the spot that-
“Ah, Kamui! Would you be looking at my nice fur?” Azura teased, placing a finger on her chin and flicking her chin. “You can play with it after we get you dressed and ready to fight with Scarlet?”
Kamui resisted saying, who?, but instead rubbed at her eyes, getting up to grab at her armor and clothes. Ryoma bowed, then swiftly walked out of the room. Kagero rolled her eyes, then tapped after Ryoma, closing the door behind her.
“Hehe, some people are still sensitive to that, Kamui!” Azura leaned on Kamui’s arm, giggling still. “Honestly, you’re still a bit naive after all we’ve taught you!”
Shit, Soleil really affected...!
Kamui smirked, nodding. “Maybe. Maybe not.”
Flora barked out a laugh, and stepped forward to inspect the armor pieces. A little pout emerged on her face, then stepped back.
“Disappointed it’s not cracked in any way?” Kamui asked, pulling her nightgown off over her head.
“I pounded all of the dents out! Need armor to survive the onslaught that’s your sister!” Azura pushed off of Kamui’s shoulder, spinning around, then posing. Kamui giggled at that, and Azura sighed, smile still on her face. “Maybe today’s the day you’ll go outside. You always wanted to go… right?”
“Yeah, that desire is still there!” Kamui looked outside, and her smile at this Azura’s antics faded at the blackness that was Nohr’s ground and hills.
It wasn’t being illuminated by a sun, it was just dark and gloomy. How did she not see that until she went to Hoshido?
Flora perked her ears, then looked up. “I think Scarlet’s waiting. Better change before she gets pissed!”
Azura tensed, tail fur standing on end.
Kamui immediately started to change. If she knew one thing about the Eldest Sibling in any world- gods that was weird to think- was that they tended to hit harder when kept waiting.

Corrin took her bows with the rest of the cast, determined to keep her eyes trained on the faceless crowd rather than the very handsome and intense light-haired tall man in the audience.
His piercing eyes are running a hole into her head, and the slight scowl on his face would indicate that he is not pleased with the show, hurting her confidence on the rigid rehearsing they underwent before this premiere.
When she performed, she rarely noticed the audience. More often than not she would lose herself in the music and her craft, her body a vessel for the character’s story. Tonight, however, she had felt his eyes on her from the beginning.
If not for years of training, she would have faltered instead of ignoring the butterflies. The edginess from his gaze translating into the nervous energy her character needed to pursue her one true love despite the many challenges they faced. Never during the next series of performances had she let it show how much he affected her.
Corrin wondered who he was. Probably a patron, given his seat on the house, and likely a banker or lawyer, or some such profession where his arrogance was an asset, she wagered. A politician? A financier? The CEO of some company or another?
She briefly wondered if he was one of those creeps that thought ballerinas made for a good lay because of their ability to bend their body into a pretzel. If so, he was soon going to learn that no one messed with her. Both of her very jealous older brothers, and one of her sisters too, had taught her enough defensive tactics to fight dirty when needed.
Many a year of experience in the opera circuit would make any woman a bit wary of intentions of dour men, especially patrons, and Corrin had spent good part of her lifetime in it. She began practicing ballet soon after she learnt how to walk, on those dark days when her parents were still together. Dance and art were a spot of beautiful light in what was a too-sad of a childhood.
Later, when her mother divorced her father and subsequently married Sumeragi, and she got four step-siblings with the whole transaction, she still did not quit. While it was re-signified, the time she spent on the studio remained a sort of escape, but now from the tiring energetic bustle that seemed to run around the clock on her home. Ballet became this quiet grace and precision that relaxed her mind and excited her body.
By the time she finished school, with offers from many companies and honourable mentions in countless festivals, her career choice seemed obvious.
Later, the ballerina was back in her dressing room about to cream off the thick stage make-up from her face when there was a knock on her door.
“Come in!” She called out.
She smiles at the reflection in the mirror when Azura popped her head through the door opening. The two lead performers had gotten to know each other well over the last few weeks of rehearsals. The other woman had been a font of knowledge, helping Corrin navigate nerves that came from her first principal dancer role after several years as a soloist, as well as to adapt to life in Cyrkensia, so very different from her hometown.
“You were wonderful tonight!” Said Azura, looking very different now that she was in her street clothes.
“I could say exactly the same.” Corrin replied, turning to face her co-star and new friend. “Your performance was so full of emotion; it was absolutely moving. I got to watch from the wings as you launched into that first aria. I got literal goosebumps.”
The blue-haired singer smiled at the compliment and showed to the other a bottle of champagne that she managed to snatch from the patron boxes.
“Here’s to sold-out performances for the next six weeks.” Said Azura after pouring champagne into flutes she had brought with her and handed one to Corrin for a toast.
“Merde!” Responded Corrin.
The implication of the swear word, shit, always made her chuckle like a naughty child. She understands that it was a traditional exclamation that theatre performers would say to each other instead of luck, in reference to the horse manure that would accumulate on the doors of popular plays in the days of old, but still she laughs.
They finished their drinks in companiable silence ignoring the frenetic sounds of the crew outside, packing up for the night. There is something cathartic in these moments, well after the curtain falls and the adrenaline from the applause dies down in memory. The aching joints, the ruined make-up, the melancholy of the end.
“I’m meeting a friend for a few drinks after here.” Started Azura. “I would love for you to join us. He’s a bit taciturn and, honestly, a stick in the mud at times, but a good man, and one I think you would profit in being acquainted to.”
“A friend, you say? Wouldn’t this be another name for an admirer or a lover, would it?” Corrin asked with a teasing tone, genuinely intrigued at the strange description.
“God, no. Not a lover.” said Azura. “I consider him to be my step-brother, actually, since his father and my mother dated for a while.”
The ballerina considered the offer. She was tired after a long day of practice and the opening night performance, but she was also wired and not ready to call it a night. Besides, if she does not go, she might never figure out who this mystery man is, and she is genuinely interested about his identity and why on Earth would Azura say that she would “profit” in getting to know him.
Before Corrin could respond to her assertion, however, there was perfunctory knock on the door before it was pushed open to reveal the man that she had seen staring at her during the performance. Up close, his impact hit her like a bullet train, her heart skipping a beat as she felt the earth shift on its axis.
As their eyes connected across the expanse of the room, she knew that her life would never be the same again.

"I have my reasons for being this way." UMP9 unclips the empty magazine in her gun and casts it aside, pulling a fresh magazine from the munitions pack hanging off her belt and loading it in. She regards Azura with a smile afterward.

“So, it’s like that in your world, isn’t it?” Azura grimaces, but can’t really judge the gunswoman (T-Doll). Her world used to be like that, with all the faceless (or at least the remains of them). Her hands reach for the teapot, pouring a fresh cup for UMP9, then placing said pot where it was, followed by her hands grabbing her own cup, “Tell me, do you fight so often?”  based on what she said. Azura isn’t surprised.

What is your throne made of?

RESULT: glass
the leader who sits on a throne of glass values honesty and integrity. they rule their kingdom democratically and will uphold justice at any cost. their intelligence and perception is unrivalled in any of the surrounding lands. they will always be transparent with their views and be true to their people and what they stand for. however, it is unwise to lie to a ruler of glass - they can see right through any deception and believe dishonesty to be the most severe of crimes.
