Jones: Rain!? You should count yourself lucky. I've fallen in muddy manure so many times my dry cleaner banned me. They offered me money to stay away!

Bacchus: I walked through a pigsty once. In socks. Ran, actually...

Hathaway: That's bad but I think i've got worse. I had to swan dive into a swamp of literal shit after a man who fell in to pull him out, and then give that man CPR. My whole suit was ruined and I didn't feel clean for weeks. I had to get regular medical check ups and needles incase I caught something.

Bacchus: Christ almghty! That's the worst i've ever heard.

Jones: It's all part of the job

Sally: It's not part of my job

Jones: You're London, we're all more rural

Sally: Hmmm... What about shouting? My boss can really shout. Kicked a car once, too.

Jones: Barnaby doesn't shout much, but he does get smug

Hathaway: Lewis has shouted at me a couple of times... not my happiest moment.

Bacchus: hah now that one I do have you allll beat. My boss has shouted at me multiple times. He punched me once, too.... It were good times, though.

Sally: He punched you?

Jones: Surely that's not right

Bacchus: Oh it was alright. I deserved it and it was for a charity boxing match.

Hathaway: Oh. That's alright then...

I fully expect this tag to be dead, 5 or so years after the show's end (I am nowhere near there yet, only on S3). Also. I ship Gently x John so be careful reading this lol

But I can't be the only one who thinks that in S03E01 when John found out that Gently and Lisa had dinner together and John got mighty mad, he had a very brief moment when he couldn't decide of whom he was jealous.

Was he mad when he thought Gently would make a move on his wife because it's his wife we're talking about? Was he mad it was Gently, who is always better at everything anyway? Was he mad because Lisa got to spend time with the guv when he desperately wanted it himself?

Did an intrusive image of him being in the middle of that sandwich pop into his mind? Of him loving every moment of it?

IT WAS SUCH AN AMBIGUOUS SITUATION WHERE IT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN ANGER AND AROUSAL TOO.

I ship these two cops so hard UGH 🙈

I`ve watched a few episodes of Inspector George Gently from season one to four and half of the episodes so far had those two things:

gay man in a relationship or with an unrequited crush on a guy

a mysteriously pregnant young woman/girl

I noticed Mr Bravado who gawps at ladies and flirts with them on the job got all awkward and embarrassed the second he saw the naked woman at the end of the life during class. Even averted his eyes everywhere else and said something like "Sir that bird is naked!" Like a scandalised granny.
