What I thought Oshi no Ko was going to be: Another degenerate reincarnation story featuring a scummy piece of shit for a main character who takes advantage of being a baby for the sake of creeping on his idol mom.

What Oshi no Ko actually is: A surprisingly wholesome and interesting look into the entertainment industry and the darkness surrounding idol culture with lots of twists and mysteries, featuring a main character who's only scummy in the first 11 minutes but then turns out to be the voice of reason and justice for the rest of the show.

alright genuine question, are modern anime fans actually getting worse at noticing plot flags, or am i just seeing that more because they're loud about it? there have been so many times in the past year where something that was OBVIOUSLY going to happen, Happened, and everyone freaked out about it and swallowed as much copium about it as possible. and like... i get it, i've been caught off guard by things before, but i don't really understand why people are missing the signs that something is NOT going to be to their taste. if you want to avoid incest, you need to learn how to spot potential incest plots before they actually get there. if you want to avoid 3rd episode tone death, you need to learn how to spot the signs that something is Wrong™ with the world before people start dying. if you want to avoid sexual assault scenes, you need to learn how to read obsessive characters and dangerous situations. if you want to avoid queerbaiting, you need to learn how to look at a piece of media in the context of its genre and largest audience; a shounen story geared towards 14 year olds with a token female character in the core cast is PROBABLY not going to make the main guy and the rival kiss, i'm sorry. these things should not be catching you off guard. very few times have i seen any of these pulled where the signs weren't screaming at you from day one. hell, even things FAMOUS for catching people off guard, even stuff that did on purpose, the signs are there. There's a massive difference between fans coming up with nasty stuff on their own, and people reading the room and figuring out what sort of story they're in for. you NEED to stop assuming that media you like will follow your own sensibilities, especially stuff from another country. i cannot emphasize enough how much of a minefield it is trying to be an anime fan who doesn't want to see any incest. for the sake of yourself and everyone who has to deal with it when you get caught off guard, PLEASE LEARN HOW TO SPOT THAT EARLY ON.

I blanked out and watched 11 episodes of The Apothecary Diaries in December and thinking of it I don't really like it lol but it's so confusing to me because it was boring but entertaining at the same time??? It's pretty harmless but I really don't get the hype it's just pretty average to me

#the anime of my happy ma/rriage was the same to me i watched all 12 episodes and it started good but by the end it was pretty boring #idk this anime just wasn't for me the only interesting character for me is the protagonist #but i don't like her enough to watch another 12 episodes #i'm going to just skim over the episodes now instead of watching them in full #every episode feels the same tbh #there's a mystery then the protagonist after investigating a bit magically solves everything #like how did people functioned in this palace before her #this also reminds me of the bunny sen/pai anime lol #everyone was loving it so i watched it and it was the most average show #pretty harmless but i was like 'okay so where is all this hype coming from???' #not every anime has to be a masterpiece but come on at least be a little entertaining #like oshi no /ko haha the story isn't my cup of tea but it was really pretty to look at and it entertained me #turned off my brain to enjoy it and it worked but i just couldn't do that with the apoth/ecary diaries

I know I watched only the 1st episode of Oshi No Ko, but Ai Hoshino is peak character design and for some reason I’m confused on why reincarnation is apart of the story

I'm not even halfway through the episode but like what do people think of Oshi no Ko, my classmate recommended it to me and they aren't aware of my very judgemental thoughts and this blog and they appear to really like it but I kinda think the anime is weird.
