After LBHM is done tearing up the OFA Syndicate, on their way home they meet this cute blonde girl who's attracted to the lingering scent of blood and they're like, well i guess we have a new daughter now. He takes Izu, Himi and Inko out for ice cream as a celebration where they find this adorable unicorn baby that has both their features and thus acquired another child. He even got a super cool material changing quirk out of it! Shame the guy who had it sucked at using it. Oh well!
We did establish that Toga was already doing alright, but Legitimate Businessman Midoriya Hisashi accidentally tumbling across Eri seems in line with his involvement so far

Bnha fic recs: Angst Corner
ergo, eraserhead by kareofbears
Izuku and Dadzawa talking about Shouto's shitty childhood. Sweet and sad.
make this feel like home by carolinaa
The Todoroki siblings all come home for Christmas for the first time in years told from Natsuo's perspective. Featuring a lot of sibling bonding and roasting, dysfunctional but loving family moments, and the Todoroki siblings coming together over the fact that their sperm donor is a shit-heel. It's funny and heartwarming and I really love the writing style. I fucking adore the Todoroki siblings and everything about them.
An Incurable Diagnosis by NerdyGay
Even when Izuku gets a Quirk, it doesn't mean he isn't still Quirkless. Izuku dealing with the struggles of being a minority despite the fact that he technically has a Quirk now. It's very much a character study with a lot of FEELINGS moments.
i. shaky hands by rexcorvidae
Izuku has chronic pain from fucking his hands up to hell and back, and Aizawa helps him through it. This is what I lovingly refer to as "soft angst", where it's more about comfort than suffering. It's just all very soft, like a warm hug after a bad day.
vii. isolation by rexcorvidae
This one, though? Holy shit. If you're looking to suffer, this is the fic for you. Fics that explore Izuku's bullying trauma always just hit different. Because while we will probably never know the specifics of just how badly Izu was bullied, we can make a pretty damn good guess based on canon context, and this is just. It's the most uncomfortable, realistic bullying I've ever read about, and the feelings that Izuku describes and goes through are so painfully relatable and real that it physically hurts you. This is not a fun read with basically no catharsis, but it is still really well written.
The better still today series by rexcorvidae
In a universe where Inko dies, Aizawa ends up adopting Izuku and raising him with his husband Present Mic. This is also really painful, with moments of sweetness that only really serve to drive the knife in deeper.
we are here (to help those that won't help themselves) by JoWithTheFlow
Mostly about Bakugou learning to be a less shitty human being when he realizes that Izuku did exactly what he told him to do in the first episode. Featuring Bakugou and Todoroki being not-friends friends and Izuku being 1000000% done with Bakugou and everyone else. But also, disabled support course Izuku is valid af. It is deeply upsetting, but also profoundly human.
The beauty of futility by wbtrashking (quillifer)
Ho, boy. Shouto and Izuku meet in their mid-thirties when Izuku inadvertently saves Shouto from trying to commit suicide. Despite how it starts off, this is first and foremost about recovery. It's so fucking sad, but also hopeful and loving and beautiful. Also, Eri is Izuku's adopted daughter, so that's fucking precious.
Burn and Breathe by PitViperOfDoom
A Tododeku sharing pain soulmates au. I'm not usually the biggest fan of soulmate aus (I just feel like it's done wrong more often than it's done right), but this is how you fucking do it right. Not only does the sharing pain aspect make so much sense for Izuku and Shouto specifically, but it also enhances the story and their relationship. The writing style is artistic and beautiful, and the story itself is fucking sad but also unrelentingly sweet. My only complaint is that there isn't more of it.

So yeah, it seems I have another writing idea. And yes it is another one which I will probably never finish but still. I just can't help the fact that my brain is like that. Thus, now I am sharing what I came up with so far.
First things first is the fact it's a fanfiction from my newest brainrot a.k.a. MHA. It's obviously an AU and in here Izuku has a twin sibling named Hanako. Hanako or Hana as she likes to be called has an unspecified fire quirk. Izu still like in canon at first seems quirkless so Hana is very protective of him.
And when it comes to Hanako themselves, she is...something. Why? Because even if they are twins it's Izuku who's more like Inko. Hana on the other hand is in a lot of aspects a carbon copy of their father and absolute opposite of xer brother. It is even smarter than Izu, tall and muscled. Definitely not beautiful or pretty, at least not in the standard sense. Especially considering their scars, sharp features and narrow eyes. She dyes xer hair green and wears vividly green contact lenses. Why is under the red warning. Personality wise xe IS quiet. Like quiet quiet, she is able to talk but they're still effectively mute as she chooses not to. And well, xe's angry, bitter and jaded. Seeing how the society treats quirkless and people with quirks that are considered weak or villainous, people with mutations she doesn't trust heroes. They're not evil but definitely more morally grey. Xe's not exactly kind or comforting either. Even when she tries you can clearly tell it's awkward & unpracticed but nonetheless genuine. And they understand other people like that on a deep level. Still you can tell xer emotions by her eyes. They also force herself to be strong so the others do not have to be. So in conclusion she' a distrustful & sharp, quite antisocial person. She is polyamorous omnisexual however demiromantic & demisexual nonbinary xenogender(fugogender) with she/xe/they/it pronouns.
SPOILERS & PROBABLY V TRIGGERING STUFF UNDER. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED SO PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Firstly, AFO is Hizashi Midoriya and Inko is Nana's daughter. Momo is a Shimura too and Tomura's sister. She was born the same year as Tomura dusted the rest of the members, she's alive because she wasn't there but at the hospital. She was adopted by Yaoyorozus who needed a heir/heiress.
Hanako is exactly this kind of sibling who when she can, wrecks people bullying Izuku. They still can't be on the lookout 24/7 and Izu hides a lot from xer & their mom to not worry them.
Izuku actually has a quirk. It's telekinesis and it's stronger than Inko's. However it was jumpstarted when he took Katsuki's "good" advice. Kat himself saw it and had a brutal wake up call. Izuku did die for a second there but miraculously came back. (We will come back to how later.)
After that some truths came out. Mainly all about the bullying Izu suffered from Aldera & Katsuki. Also the fact how abusive Mitsuki Bakugo is and how Masaru doesn't interfere.
Well hearing that and the true regret from Kats, Inko made a decision. She formally adopted Katsuki and made him go to therapy, both for trauma and anger issues. Now he fixed his relationship with the twins somewhat and is protective of both. Still not the nicest and a huge tsundere but nonetheless slightly improved.
The sludge villain incident with Katsuki happened as in cannon, Izuku jumped right after. All Might after tried to find him but as Zu was in hospital he didn't have much luck. However he met both twins at "that" beach and approached them. He at first planned to do what he did in cannon when it comes to Izu but after learning of the new quirked status of our broccoli boy he just offer to train them. Hana though agreed only to keep on eye on Izu. In the end both siblings actually got OFA as Hana reasoned that if they share it, it may go 50/50 and as such be easier to handle. She wasn't wrong and as they are twins it also made their sibling connection that much stronger. Now they're literally able to feel each others emotions, pain & unfortunately if one dies.
Hitoshi and Kyoka were pretty quickly adopted after they started UA by the Yamada/Aizawa who are married.
Almost whole class 1-A is dating and all are poly. Most are LGBTQ+ in all ways.
Chisaki here is completely reworked personalitywise. While still a criminal and Yakuza leader few things are changed. He's kind to Eri who is his biological daughter. He's trans and dating Hari though only the Precepts know, also the Precepts, Hari & two Chisakis are a family before all else.
LOV is on the other hand even more found family and you can tear this trope from my cold dead hands.
Dabi is Toya Todoroki but he only wants revenge on Enji without including his siblings and mom a.k.a. he's a good older brother(and partner but that later).
Twice & Magne survive. I repeat they won't die here because I said so.
Hawks had been sent as a spy by the Comission but he quite quickly fully deflected after seeing all of the lies he was fed his whole life. He kept the act to protect LOV though and only stopped when told to kill Twice. He paid for it being tortured half to death before getting broken out by one slightly more decent person (OC) and then being brought to the LOV who nursed him back to health. Said OC though dies for that.
Most parents of the 1-A & 1-B kids suck very much. The only decent ones are Iidas, Inko, Rei, Kirishima's moms, Satos, Ashidos & Seros.
Tokoyami after his internship with Hawks got basically unformally adopted by him which much later was actually formalized.
Toru got adopted by Nemuri(who also won't die) and Emi Fukukado/Ms. Joke.
The war happens in their 3rd year but that would be another much more spoiler-y post.

Idk what’s better Hori intentionally being extra about BkDk or him when he’s being subtle about it
Like Dekus favorite dish is katsudon is not a subtle nod to Katsuki
But Kacchan’s favorite activity being hiking could be a very subtle nod to the fact that Midoriya means green valley
Now get ready for some ✨conspiracy✨
One of the worlds most famous hiking trials is on the Izu peninsula(Kawazu Seven Waterfalls)
One of the it’s so well known is that it’s loved by both hiking enthusiasts and classic literature nerds alike
That’s because its the setting to first Japanese Nobel prize winner Yasunari Kawabata’s short story “The Izu Dancer
The Izu Dancer is about a young upper class man going hiking on vacation from university to escape his feelings of loneliness and discontentment with life
While traveling his develops crush/friendship with the dancer/drummer and daughter of a family traveling entertainers. These social outcasts teach this well to do young man how to accept himself and be more open with others
When it’s time for him to go back to school he and the dancer promise each other they will meet again but when he leaves he realize how impossible that dream is
I think Hori knows this story well because
A. It won a Nobel prize so a fuck ton of people know, even more so in Japan(obviously)
B. The seven waterfalls is only a few hours away from where Hori himself went to university
C. A social outcast teaching a boy who has it all to be a better person sounds real familiar 👀 (that could only describe like a million stories lol)
And it’s so fitting that Deku’s nod would clear as day while Kacchan’s takes time and thought to discover 💞
Here’s some of the status featuring the drummer/dancer and the young man

Haru (悠琉) : Eternal Treasure
Himari (光鞠) : Ball of Light
“Are you absolutely sure you’re gonna be alright?”
“My Love, it’s our kids you’re talking about. I can handle them!”
With a heavy sigh you quickly jog over to your Husband and the two children held within his arms, pressing soft kisses to their temples. Placing one final kiss to Izuku’s cheek you turn to walk out of the door.
“Have a good day darling!” He says to you with a smile.
“Call me if anything happens Love!”
With your final words exchanged you close the door behind you.
“Hey papa?” A small voice chimes into the silence surrounding Izuku, he looks down to his son held tightly in his arms. “Yes Haru? What’s wrong?”
“I’m hungry...”
“Well let’s fix that! Himari? Are you hungry too?” The tiny girl clinging to his hip gave him a small nod of agreement. With that he sets off to the kitchen, placing the two children in their respective high chairs at the kitchen table.
“Alright so! What would you two like to eat?”
“PANCAKES!” The two toddlers screamed in unison.
He smiled at the children and went off to search for the pancake mix. While doing so, he could hear his two children giggling at the table. He turns to look and they both erupt into a heavy fit of laughter; with a wry grin he begins to fix the pancake mix into a bowl. “What’s so funny?”
“Mommy’s Kisses!” Himari giggles as she points to her father. Izuku lifted an eyebrow, confused as to what his daughter was talking about, he begins to focus on mixing the Pancake batter. As he begins to pour the mix into the skillet, he hears his children begin to laugh once more.
With a small smile adorning his lips, he turns to his children. “Alright you two, what is so funny?”
The two children just begin to howl with laughter as their little hands point at his face, finally being truly concerned with what was on his face, he pulls his phone out of his pocket and opens the camera. Getting a good look at his face, his cheeks begin to flare up with a heavy red color.
“O-Oh.”
He quickly shoves his phone back into his pocket and rushes to the sink, grabbing a small hand towel from the side of the sink he begins to furiously scrub at the lipstick marks on his face.
-------------------
With their pancakes finished, and the lipstick stains washed away, Izuku snatches up his two children and carries them to the couch. Placing them onto the cushions, he sends them a small smile as he begins to search for the remote.
As his attempts to find said remote were in vain, he hears his children begin to giggle behind him. Slowly turning to them he’s met with his youngest, Haru, standing on the back of the couch with the remote in his hand.
“H-HARU. P-Please get down from there!”
His other child, Himari, just sits and stares as her Father and her brother struggle against each other, each of them fighting for control of the remote. Their laughter fills the room as Izuku lifts Haru into the air and spins him around, the smiles on their face could brighten the darkest of days.
As Izuku finally gets the remote from his son, he places him next to his younger sister and switches on the T.V. “What do you guys wanna watch?”
“RED RIOT!” His son yelled.
Noticing his daughters silence, Izuku crouches in front of her and places a hand on her leg.
“Himari, are you alright? What do you want to watch sweetie?”
“I wanted to watch G-Ground Z-Zero.”.” Her voice was just above a whisper as Izuku’s eyes widened at her response, with a smile he turns to his son.
“How about we watch Uncle Kacchan?”
“Eww … I don’t like him Papa...” Holding back a snort, his smile widens.
“Once Himari’s show is over, we’ll check up on Red Riot. Alright?” His son smiles as he scoots further into the couch, leaning back against the plush back of the couch.
His heart swelled as his daughter scooted closer to her brother, his arm finding her side as he pulled her closer to him. Fighting the urge to call you and tell you about the incident, he turns the T.V to the proper channel and sits down next to his children.
A soft smile on his features as his children cheer on and fawn over their uncle.
---------------
It was later into the evening, both of his children had fallen asleep on the couch, with a blanket draped over the both of them. He begins to make dinner as he hears the front door open, a heavy sigh coming from your mouth as you meet the heat within your home.
“It’s snowing outside ….”  You’re stopped in your tracks, your words fall flat as you stare at your children. Asleep, wrapped around each other, with a familiar Ground Zero Blanket draped over the both of them. Seeing your green haired lover appear out of the kitchen, apron wrapped around his waist, and a few smudges on his face. The corners of your mouth lifted into a smile as you walk towards Izuku.
As he meets you halfway, his strong arms wrap around your form.
“Good evening My Love.”
“Good evening Honey.” Smiling as his body stiffens at the nickname, you look up to see his cheeks flushed red. A giggle leaves your lips as you place a soft kiss to his jaw.
“Dinner is almost done, if you can, could you wake up Haru and Himari?” With a nod his arms leave your waist and he disappears into the kitchen. Making your way over to the couch, you eye your sleeping children. A smile on your features as you crouch next to them, laying soft hands on their shoulders you gently shake them. Their eyes flutter open as they turn to look at you, their eyes widen and large smiles appear on their face as they shove the blanket off of them and jump onto you, small arms wrapping around your form.
With the sudden weight of both of your children jumping onto you, you fall back against the floor, their small bodies curling up around you. Heavy, rushed footsteps quickly make their way towards you.
“Y/N! Are you o- “ Izuku’s words fall on deaf ears as your hands find your children’s sides, fingers wriggling around attempting to tickle them off of you. As your attempts fail, you send a pleading look towards your husband. With a chuckle, he walks over to you and takes your hand, pulling you to your feet.
As you find your balance, you send him a thankful smile.
“Be careful with your mother. Don’t want to hurt her.” At his words your children’s grip on you intensifies, their small legs wrap around your sides as they nuzzle their faces into the sides of your neck.
With a playful smile, you glance at izuku. “What did you do to my poor babies?” Before Izuku is able to respond your sons voice chimes in.
“He made us watch Uncle Kacchan.”
“Oh my goodness how terrible, How could you make them watch uncle kaachan Izu- “Before you finish your sentence your daughters voice chimes in.
“Hey. I like u-uncle Kacchan Haru.”
“Well you’re a girl, of course you like him.”
“W-What is that S-Supposed to mean?”
“Red riot is for men!”
You and Izuku stare at each other in horror at the argument taking place between your children.
“We’ll fix this later. I’m Starving.” With a heavy groan leaving your lips, izuku grabs your shoulder and guides you to the kitchen table.
“I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Hopefully we can fix this soon. I’ll fix you something to eat love.”
“Thanks honey.” Placing a soft kiss to izuku’s cheek he disappears into the kitchen once more.

Catharsis (Villain!Deku x Fem!Reader) Chapter Eight
A/n: Sorry this is coming out later than expected. I stayed over a guy friend’s house for like 3 days this week, then it was a friend’s birthday, so I’ve been busy. This is the last pre-written chapter, and I’ve already started on the next! Enjoy. P.S. I kinda feel bad for Bakugo in this chapter...damn.
This story will contain dark themes! Please read the warning!
Summary: An unexpected death of a loved one can lead to a sudden influx of emotions. Those same emotions can become repressed, as denial and disbelief comes into play. In this time, one would seek a means of catharsis, a release from those strong, repressed emotions. But what would you do if that means of catharsis, the same release you sought so hard for, becomes addicting? To the extent, that you feel you can not live without it? What if it can’t live without you? **WARNING: This story MAY contain; bullying, suicide, depression, torture, manipulation, mentions of sexual assault, and MORE! You have been warned.

Chapter Eight: Missing Persons and Panic Attacks
“----Swear to fucking…..’ll beat your dumb ass...ce of shit…”
You groaned as you slowly opened your eyes, not exactly ready to wake up. The cursing you woke up to continued, along with the music of what sounded like an old video game. Eyes adjusting to the dark room you were in, the first thing you spotted was jean-clad legs and a dark t-shirt, less than an inch away from your face. Smiling instantly, you snuggled deeper into the lap your head was rested on, breathing in the owner’s sweet scent. You heard a light chuckle, before a hand stroked down the back of your head, their thumb caressing the side of your face. You basked in the attention, peeking up at Izuku with a loving smile. He stared back down at you, his face mirroring the love you knew was on your face. He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead.
“How was your nap, love?” He muttered, using his forefinger to tilt your head up so he could see your full face.
“Perfect,” you whispered back sweetly, moving your body so you were laying on your back, head still resting in his lap. He opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by a gravelly, angered voice.
“Stop with all that shit, and play the fucking game,” Shigaraki hissed, glaring at you and Izuku, then snapping his head back to the small television screen in the corner of the room. You sat up as Izuku took his attention off of you and back to the game like Shigaraki wanted. Stretching you arms above your head, you groaned lightly, body feeling stiff from the slightly awkward position you took a nap in. The three of you were sitting on the bare wooden floors as the two boys wanted to be closer to the T.V. they were playing the game on. As the boys continued playing the co-op game, you silently took in the room once your eyes fully adjusted to the darkness, smiling lightly to yourself.
The square room was pretty cluttered, the gray concrete walls holding shelves of books and games, along with some odd, clearly stolen knick knacks; the floor had heaps of old snack wrappers in weird places, clothes filling in the gaps in-between; the queen size bed was pushed into the far left corner, the foot of the bed holding piles of written journals. There was a T.V. and a T.V. stand in the far right corner, the storage space under it holding a couple gaming consoles; a dresser and vanity next to it, more random clutter on top of each.
Despite the mess, you loved it. It was your new shared room with your love.
Your new home.
It was completely different from what your old home used to be; instead of the attempt at making the place feel homey and clean like your parents did, Izuku seemed to just want a place in which he can be himself.
Your parents.
It was hard to think of them. There was a ball of guilt constantly sitting in the bottom of your stomach because of them.
They’ve lost a daughter, just like you lost Izuku; However, this time, there was no body to bury.
Block it out.
You had claimed one specific corner of the room, the front left corner, filling it with your small amount of belongings; which consisted of a few books, your empty backpack from school (all of the schoolbooks and work haven been thrown out due to needlessness), a jacket courtesy of Izuku, and a spare bean bag chair. The room was bathed in the light of the neon colors on the T.V. screen, casting everything into a weird tone of blue and white.
Blue and white.
Better than red.
An image popped into your head. A Designer t-shirt and ripped jeans. Brightly colored,  sneakers. Coily black hair, and dark brown skin. Brown eyes.
Red.
Block it out.
Rolling your neck to release some of the tension, you fiddle with the new black collar around it. The collar was pretty thick and a bit heavy; it being almost two inches wide, made out of a lightweight metal of some type along with a tubing of some sort. It was a present from Izuku the day you got here, nearly 3 weeks ago. At first it was rather uncomfortable, the metal at times restricting the angle in which you could tilt your head, and it often caused your neck to become sore from the added weight. You had quickly gotten used to it though, after it was put into good use.
The purpose of the collar was to ‘keep you and Izuku connected’. Instead of having to wrap, what you now called his ‘shadows’, around your neck constantly to ‘connect’ with you, he could instead put some in storage in the tubing on your collar, so that you constantly felt him like on the day he found you, and vice versa.
However, the feeling wasn’t as close to the day he first wrapped his shadows around your neck. While you could feel a bit of the burning pleasure from the collar, it wasn’t nearly as intense and discombobulating. At times, you craved the disorientating jolts, begging Izuku when the two of you were alone to connect himself to you once again, much to his pleasure. But, as is, you could only feel the slightest bit of feelings, it increasing and decreasing depending on how far the two of you are to each other.
Standing, you went over to your corner, picking up Izuku’s laptop on the way. Plopping down on the bean bag chair, you went to open the laptop, but paused before doing so. You knew it was against the rules Izuku set.
No phones. No laptops. No internet. No outside contact. No leaving. Not without his explicit permission.
“Izu, can I use your laptop really quick, please?” You called out, gaining the attention of your darling. He looked at you out of the corner of his eye, a frown appearing on his face as his brows furrowed suspiciously. Shigaraki muttered angrily, mad that Izuku paused the game to answer you.
“Why?”
“I just wanna check the news. See what they’re saying about my disappearance,”
“Nobody fucking cares about you, let’s continue the game!” Shigaraki growled out, eyeing you as if he was tempted to murder you. You scowled back at him, sending him a cold glare.
You despised looking him in the eyes. Those red shits disgusting you to the core.
“Go ahead. No logging into any of your old social media, or anything that could possibly link you to this location,” Izuku said, rolling his eyes at you and Shigaraki’s behavior. You and Shigaraki never gotten along since you got here. He seemed slightly possessive of Izuku, due to Izuku being his only friend; and you hated someone trying to put claim to something that was clearly yours. Now, the two of you were forced to tolerate each other because of Izuku, but that doesn’t mean you don’t annoy the other.
“Crusty bitch,” you muttered under your breath, loud enough that Izuku snorted out a laugh, but Shigaraki couldn’t hear you. Shigaraki’s head snapped to you suspiciously, growling through his teeth, before he turned back to the T.V.. You smirked to yourself smugly as you opened the laptop, it starting up automatically.
Opening up a web browser, you typed in the local news website. You hummed as you searched through the top stories, surprisingly you found a series of recent stories including your name. Clicking the first article link, it brought you to a story named:
U.A.’s Class 1-A Student Suspected To Be One of the Many Dead in Musutafu Attack.
Under the title, there was your U.A. ID picture, where you were smiling brightly at the camera, with dull (E/c) eyes. You cringed at the photo; you could almost see the weight on your chest, how you seemed to not even want to actually be there. This thought caused you to shift your gaze to Izuku.
He sat with his back mostly towards you; his eyes locked on the small t.v. screen; fingers flying across the gaming controller in his hands. His curly emerald hair framed his face in ways that made him look like an angel. His green eyes, which seemed to glow in the dark, held a sense of serene you haven’t seen since he was a child.
You suddenly felt your heart clench while looking at him. His every feature reminded you of one person.
Mama Midoriya.
Tears came to your eyes, as you looked back down at the news article, attempting to read it, but your mind was elsewhere.
“I wonder what Mama Midoriya is doing. She must be so...heartbroken.” you thought, body slumping back into the beanbag chair, your throat clenching at the thought.
You remember vividly what it felt like losing Izuku. The emptiness. The numbness.
The weight on your chest.
You could only imagine the pain that Mama Midoriya would be feeling now. After the loss of two children.
You still remember the way she trembled for weeks after Izuku’s disappearance. She had gotten grief sick, to the point in which she couldn’t physically leave her bed, she was constantly nauseated and couldn’t keep any food down. You had been her primary care-taker for the following months; barely even going home for more than 20 minutes during that time. You used to sleep on the floor of her bedroom, too...scared to sleep anywhere else.
You knew she was depressed; it was clear with the look in her eyes. The way she would stare blankly into space after all of her tears had dried up. The emptiness. After you would get back from school, you’d immediately go to the Midoriya household, kick off your shoes, and get started on making a late lunch for Mama Midoriya. You had to have gone through at least two cookbooks of recipes, trying to find anything that she would keep down. After giving her lunch, which would inevitably be regurgitated into a bucket that was kept at her bedside, you’d lay with her in her bed; snuggling close to her like you were a child fearing a nightmare. The both of you would just sit there for hours in silence, until the time came for you to start dinner.
Then one night, while you were fixing your makeshift bed of blankets on the floor at the foot of the bed, after tucking her in and asking how she felt, Mama Midoriya’s soft voice muttered with slight hesitance.
“It hurts.”
And that was what terrified you the most.
Those words.
The words that seemed to sum up how you felt since Izuku’s disappearance; that summed up how Mama Midoriya felt; and how Izuku felt before ‘taking’ his own life.
Those words seemed to symbolize one thing for you.
The lack of a will to live.
And the thought of losing someone else was worse than the weight on your chest.
So now, you could only imagine how much your disappearance would make her pain worse.
Block it out.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Bakugo let out a shaky huff, stretching out his aching fingers as he glanced around his room. His nodded his head to the beat of his music, it blaring loudly in his headphones. His body was slick with sweat, his chest heaving as he stretched his arms above his head, trying to cool down a bit more before continuing his workout. He suddenly dropped down onto his stomach, legs out straight, his hands placed on the ground shoulder-length apart. Letting out a deep breathe with each of his push-ups, he tilted his head up, staring straight ahead to where his open notebook was propped up, re-reading his notes from class.
This was the only way he could distract himself. Working out, and throwing himself into his school work. Maybe he would be able to tire himself out enough tonight to finally get some good rest.
His felt his phone vibrate near his hand, but decided to ignore it. If it didn’t interrupt his music, he didn’t care to see what it was.
“Inertial mass, the measure of an object’s inertia or….” he muttered to himself, red eyes flickering across the page. Finishing his 35th push-up, he paused, holding himself up on his forearms, and toes. He continued reading and muttering his notes to himself, before feeling his phone vibrate once again. Glancing at it in annoyance, he grabbed it with a roll of his eyes, pressing the button to display his lock-screen.
7 New Messages From: Shitty Hair.
3 Missed Calls From: Shitty Hair
Heaving a sigh, Bakugo sat up, unlocking his phone in the process. Upon opening the messaging app, the two things he noticed right away was the three dots indicating Kirishima was in the midst of typing a message, and a wall capital letters. Bakugo lazily scrolled up the messages, reaching the first unread one.
Shitty Hair: DUDE
1 Missed Call From Shitty Hair
Shitty Hair: BAKUGO, ANSWER THE PHONE
1 Missed Call From Shitty Hair
Shitty Hair: PLEASE
Shitty Hair: DID YOU SEE THE VIDEO?
Shitty Hair: IT’S ALL OVER THE INTERNET
1 Missed Call From Shitty Hair
Shitty Hair: PLEASE ANSWER THE PHONE
Shitty Hair: ARE YOU OKAY?
Brows furrowed in confusion, Bakugo ignored the incoming call from Kirishima once again, instead choosing to click over to one of the few social media apps he had. Eyeing the little red number in the corner of the screen that indicated all of his notifications from the app, he growled in slight confusion as the number continued to rise every few seconds, as if multiple people were tagging him in something.
Incoming Call From: Shitty Hair.
Ignoring the call once again, Bakugo scrolled down the newsfeed of the app, trying to find the so-called video that was ‘all over the internet’. Almost immediately, a video popped up on the feed, it having nearly a million shares, and only being posted an hour prior. The video had a sensitivity notification over it, preventing him from seeing the thumbnail of the video. The caption read:
I FUCKING KNEW U.A. WAS HIDING SOMETHING. SHARE BEFORE THEY TAKE THIS DOWN!
This immediately caught his interest. Clicking the option to show the video, he waited a second while the video loaded with a slightly disinterested look.
The video started off with someone’s lock screen as whoever the person was started screen-recording. Whoever it was, clicked on another app which pulled up another video, which they presumed to press play. The video that proceeded to play wasn’t in the greatest quality, with no sound, and an awkward angle. It showed a destroyed, empty alleyway, the only movement being the fluttering of an old newspaper on the ground. Debris littered the floor, the wall of a building seeming to be concave, blocking the exit of the alley.
Nothing happened for a few more seconds, causing Bakugo to roll his eyes. He eyed the timestamp in the corner of the video, it reading a date only a few weeks prior. The time of it being late morning. Something unsettled him about the video, but he couldn’t figure out what it was.
“This is probably one of those jump scare shits,” he muttered to himself, pressing the screen to exit the video, when suddenly there was more movement on the screen. What he saw almost took his breath away.
(Y/n) (L/n) fell onto screen, covered in cuts and blood. While her face couldn’t be seen from this angle yet, Bakugo immediately recognized her. She was still dressed in what could have been her U.A. uniform, but Bakugo couldn’t quite tell because of all the soot and blood covering her body. Her body trembled as she collapsed on her side, revealing her face and the tears falling down her cheeks. Covered in blood.
Bakugo couldn’t breathe now.
His chest tightened.
He knew why this video was unsettling now. He remembered the date.
He could barely focus on the video by now; the sight of the girl covered in blood and dirt will forever be engraved in his mind. But he couldn’t tear his gaze away.
Not my fault.
Another figure stepped into frame. Green hair.
Deku.
Perfectly alive.
All Bakugo could hear is a high pitched ringing.
Dark Tentacles around her neck. Tightening. Choking.
Her petrified, shocked, pleading eyes.
Despite the video not having any sound, he could almost hear her scream.
Her terrified scream
“IT’S YOUR FAULT!”
Not my fault.
A crazed, insane grin.
He was going to kill her.
Not my fault.
One last attempt to escape.
She didn’t know. She didn’t know about him. She didn’t know like how Bakugo had claimed. She wasn’t a part of this. Not until she ran away from the school.
Not my fault.
Shadows.
A scream.
“YOU FUCKING MURDERER!”
Not my fault.
Nothing.
End of video.
The phone dropped out of his hands, his hands shaking. Wide red eyes stared at the space the phone previously was for a second more, before his body scrambled away from it. His head banged harshly against his desk, but he didn’t even wince. He wheezed as he tried to suck in air. It didn’t work.
Not my fault.
His shaky fingers gripped his chest, his nails digging into his skin as if that would alleviate the sudden pressure.
He couldn’t focus.
He couldn’t breathe.
His lungs burned for air.
Not my fault.
Bakugo’s eyes darted around the room. He didn’t realise how late it had gotten, well past his bedtime. Too dark.
His phone vibrated once again from an incoming call from Kirishima.
Not my fault.
Not my fault.
Not my fault.
There was a heavy weight on his chest.
“It hurts.”

To Have A Villain’s Quirk
EIGHT: FIT TO BE A HERO
Tumblr media
Song: Home - Daughtry
"He threw it over seven hundred meters!" Kaminari yelled beside her, she just rolled her eyes at him. Of course he did, this boy.
"Nice, he's finally showing us his true power!" Uraraka joined in, cheering him on.
She couldn't hear what the other two had said but just one look at Bakugo and she knew, he was in shock. It took her a moment to remember that they grew up together, and that Bakugo was there the whole time. She could see his hand starting to spark and knew he was going to go straight for Midoriya. She clenched her teeth as he took off, yelling. Her quirk activated and she jumped in front of her friend before Bakugo had gotten to him, four tails splayed behind her in a protective stance. Just before he was able to even get a hold on her, he was caught by Aizawa's scarf.
"Don't." Was all she said, exchanging glances with her teacher as Bakugo struggled to turn his head. She ignored the faint chattering of everyone, the pointing out of how she had four tails instead of one, and how her eyes had changed. She had done a good job throughout the day, keeping anyone from seeing her eyes. She didn't even listen to what they were talking about, she kept her tails pointed at the captured boy in front of her, her arm sticking out to keep Izuku behind her.
"Stand down. It'd be wise to avoid making me use my Quirk so much. It gives me serious dry eye." He drew the scarf back, letting the boy go, but Kaida didn't move. "You're wasting my time now. Whoever's next can step up." He waved his hand as he walked away, Kaida deactivating her quirk as she gently took Midoriya's other wrist and walked him away from Bakugo, glaring at the other boy. Kaida decided to stand with the group Midoriya was with before, Ochaco giving her a smile before looking at Midoriya and asking about his finger. The blue haired boy looked down at her, a thinking fist in front of his chin.
"Your speed was incredible, and you produced four tails instead of the one you've had most of the class. You really care for him, don't you?" He inquired, causing Kaida to look up at him with a sweet smile.
"He's my best friend. I'd do anything for him." As if shocked by the answer, Iida's eyes had widened a little bit. "That's what you do for the people you care about." He gave a nod, satisfied with her answer as he turned away.
The next tests were a breeze for her, though she knew she wasn't at her best with some, that was okay. She was mostly worried about Midoriya, but noticed how Uraraka was keeping an eye on him. It made her happy. She was also a little annoyed with having a certain electric type attached to her side. She liked making new friends, but he was so loud, and wouldn't leave her be. But.. he was funny. Her and Midoriya had been friends for pretty much a year now, they needed other friends, too. And they were still in the same class! So, they'd be okay.
After the tests were finally done, she saw Midoriya fall to the ground, panting as the others walked around him, and she quickly helped him up. "You okay there, Izu?" He gave a slow nod and let her help lead him to where everyone stood.
"Alright, time to give you your results. I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already. I'll just pull up the whole list. It's not worth going over each individual's score." She narrowed her eyes as the screen pulled up, scanning from the top. Fifth place! Right behind Bakugo. She glanced at him, seeing the glare that was cast her way. She only rolled her eyes and looked for Midoriya's name. L..Last place.
"Midoriya.. I." She didn't know what to say, she could tell he was heartbroken. She wanted to give him a hug but she didn't want to do that in front of everyone else. She knew he would be embarrassed.
"And I was lying, no one's going home." What. "That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all with the tests." This led everyone to nearly scream. She should have known, he wouldn't really do that.. Everyone seemed to be in better spirits though, Kaida smiling to herself as she looked up at the sky. "That's it. We're done for the day. Pick up a syllabus in the classroom. Read it over before tomorrow morning."
Along with Midoriya, Kaida also took a long sigh, blinking as Aizawa handed him a slip to go to the nurses office. She smiled, he really was a nice person. He just needed to seem intimidating to keep these class in shape. She turned to Midoriya with a big smile. "Want me to walk with you? We still have to stop by the classroom." Midoriya shook his head, still biting back a few tears but seemed okay.
"I can meet you in the classroom, don't worry!" With that, he held onto his hand, making his way to Recovery Girl. Kaida watched him walk off as Uraraka came to stand beside her.
"Hey! I just wanted to say that it's nice to see you again, and that you were super cool earlier. The way you were ready to protect him was so cool! He must mean a lot to you." She said, starting their walk back to their homeroom.
"Ah," She quickly followed, glancing behind at the dark blond she had been talking with. He was talking to someone else, so she didn't feel too bad for leaving him behind. "Thanks.. He's been my best friend for awhile. We've been through a lot together already and I don't know what I'd do without him. He's inspired me to be better."
"Oh, that's nice! He seems really sweet. He saved me in the exam.. He didn't have to, but he gave up everything to save me. He's gonna be a great hero one day, I just know it!" Kaida looked at her as she spoke, smiling. She knew about it, but she didn't know Uraraka was the girl he saved. She just knew that he was a mess about this girl. It was cute watching him get flustered over some girl he's only really talked to once.
Uraraka ended up talking with Iida again, so she fell to the back, not wanting to bother anyone at the moment. Of course, the very last person was Bakugo, lost in his own thoughts until Kaida slowed down enough to walk beside him. He didn't pay her any mind as the walked, too interested in his own thoughts for a bit. They entered the building and all went to get changed, ending up in the classroom at different times. Kaida spent her time getting hers and Midoriya's things together, noticing how everyone went on and left, leaving her with the atomic bomb.
"Hey, Red." Kaida glanced up at the boy. He had his back turned to her, ready to walk out the door.
"Yes, Katsu?" She heard him go to complain, but ended up just sighing.
"How long have you know about his Quirk?"
'..I kinda figured that's what this is about..' She sighed, slinging her bag over her shoulders while holding Izuku's by the handle. "Since after the entrance exam.." He scoffed.
"Best buddies for almost a year and you only just found out about it?"
"If it makes you feel better, he doesn't really know about my quirk either." It came out more agitated than she intended it to, but it was frustrating to her.
"What? How would that make me feel better? Everyone knows about your quirk, idiot." She only sighed, shaking her head.
"Not really." She looked away as she walked towards the door. "And I intend to keep it that way.." She mumbled, passing Katsuki by as she did, exiting the room to find Midoriya. Ugh, just talking to Bakugo seemed to send her into a bad mood, because all he cared about was being the best. Not someone making the effort to be friends with him. He only pushed people away.. She shook the thoughts from her head as she walked, eventually running into her friend. They both looked exhausted from the day already, so when they finally walked home, they didn't say much but waved as they went down their different paths. Kaida felt sluggish as she walked, practically dragging her feet against the cement. She yawned, stretching her arms in front of her. She still had a small assignment she needed to work on. And train, but she was beginning to think that she had trained enough for one day.
As she approached her house, she could already feel the rest of her energy draining from her, ready to just crash on her bed and take a quick nap. She deserved it. Walking into the house, the aroma of coffee greeted her nostrils, causing her to nearly stop in her tracks. It smelled so good, it reminded her of the kind her dad drank. She closed the door behind her, slipping off her shoes. "I'm home!" She could hear rustling around in the living room, her mother's excited voice filling the room.
"Welcome home, sweetheart." Her mother stood in front of her, blocking her line of sight to an unknown being behind her, Kaida freezing in her tracks. She glanced between her mom and trying to see over the woman's shoulders. The woman only smiled.
"So, care to explain why you didn't bother to tell me that you started going to UA?" Her eyes snapped back to her mother, who's smile grew more. She moved aside, the person standing from the chair he sat in, a toothy smile on his face as he opened his arms to the young girl.
"Dad!" Kaida ran at the tall man, wrapping her arms around his neck as she buried her face in his shoulder.
"My little Chimera, I've missed you." He said softly, picking the girl up and hugging her tightly. "I'm sorry I'm always gone." He carefully set his daughter down, taking in her features. "You look so grownup.."
"It's okay.. I know you're busy." She smiled up at him, feeling tears threatened to fall. She hadn't seen him in years, he was always gone.. "How long are you home?"
"Well.. actually." Kaida gasped, looking back and forth between her parents. "You're staying?"
"My work finally put me in the city."
    "No more trips?"
"No more trips." Kaida tackled her dad once more, Kaori coming to join them. They'll finally be a family again. This day couldn't get any better.
The rest of the evening was spent catching up on everything he had been doing overseas. Kaida felt her energy had returned for a little bit as they all drank coffee together, the two ghoul quirk users drinking their's straight black. It had been a long while, but the house was filled with laughter, and smiles, and noise, that hadn't been there for years. It felt more like a home than it had before. It was all coming together again. She no longer felt as sad as she had before. But as the hours passed, she had to excuse herself to go work on her first little assignment. She gave her parents quick hugs then disappeared upstairs. Takeshi relucantly turned to Kaori, who was staring into her coffee cup.
"You know, I'm surprised you let her go to UA, or even register her Quirk for that matter." He sat his finished cup down, leaning back on the sofa as his black and red eyes flitted over to his wife. He could see her violet eyes were no longer bright like they used to be, they had taken on a darker hue after these years.
"I didn't have a choice. She never told me about any of it until she got her acceptance letter. I just knew she started working harder, wearing herself to the bone. Like her life depended on it." Her voice had grown grave, Takeshi tilted his head to look at a picture of them on the wall.
"Maybe she was afraid she would never become a hero. You know how she's felt since she was a kid."
"She'll get hurt. And with her quirk. Having ours.. she wouldn't be fit to be a hero. Everyone will hate her when they find out the truth behind her strength." The red haired man looked away.
"Your opinions still haven't changed, huh?" Kaori scowled as she stood, taking their dishes to the kitchen to wash.
"We can't keep her safe if she's out putting herself in danger."
"She needs to learn to fend for herself, she's strong. We can't keep protecting her."
"Maybe you can't. But I can."

SetsuDeku #9 please 🙏
This is a bit different and sadly, not shippy. However I figured this drabble would be the perfect trial run for an AU I have been entertaining. If it is rushed, I apologize. I wanted to keep it as a drabble and it is nearly at 1000. Also I didn't namedrop Setsuna's mom here but her name is in another post I made.
----------------
It was Izuku's 8th birthday. As usual, nobody showed up to greet him and his mom. Nobody But a little girl with longer curly green hair and lizard-like eyes. She carried a package in her arms, insisting on doing so herself.
"Mr. And Mrs. Tokage. So glad you could make it. Nobody showed up and, well." The woman trailed off, looking sadly at her son's bedroom door.
She was cut off however by the little girl zooming by to and placing the gift on the couch. The adults stood and looked at each other as Setsuna sent a hand flying off her body and into the door, knocking it open. She already had a party that on (customized with dinosaurs) and a noisemaker at the ready.
THUNK! FWEEEEEEEE!
"Happy birthday, fellow green bean!"
The girl leapt into the air and bounced onto the bed.
"ACK! SETSU-CHAN! WHAT THE HECK?!"
The lonely boy without a quirk was sent flying and taken by utter surprise. He really should have expected a sneak attack from his only real friend at the time.
"I heard you were down. Can't have that on my fellow brand's birthday. Quirk or not, you're special. I got you something. One second!"
The girl's arms went flying into the sitting room to grab her present. Unfortunately she was having a bit if trouble with it. Her dad's voice rang out.
"What did we say about unregulated quirk use, Gecko."
"Sorry, dad! Could you bring in Izu-Chan's gift please? I want to hand it to him."
Ryunosuke obliged and walked in carrying the present. He placed it on the bed in front of Izuku and his daughter. It was a surprisingly moderate sized box. Izuku's eyes sparkled at the possibilities before he tore into it. Thankfully there was no disappointment this year.
It was a player featuring I-Island and the hero Godzilla. Attached to the box was a rare figure of Young age All Might, accompanied by one of his lesser known villains,Titanboa. Leave it to his friend to pick out something he really likes while sticking to a reptilian theme.
"T-t-thank you so much, Setsu! You are amazing"
"Hehe. No prob! Let's play with him! It's what toys are for! Dibs on Titanboa! I've been perfecting an evil voice. My sis used it to scare me during bedtime stories.
Ryunosuke chimed in.
"Sounds great, kids but maybe later. It's time for eats." The imposing yet relaxed lizard man hissed paternally.
"Okie doke"
"awww nuts. Ok. But after dinner it's time for justice!"
"Yeah!"
The 8 and 7 year olds (respectively) left the toys and wrapping paper on the bed and headed to the kitchen to help set up, leaving Setsuna's dad to laugh gently and throw the wrapping paper into Izuku's trash.
X
The party, as small as it was, was still meaningful. Katsudon, being Izuku's favorite, was on the menu, as was an All Might themed birthday cake. The adults spoke about work and their kids. Meanwhile, said kids had played with Izuku's presents, including a handmade All Might Hoodie from his mom and a card with money in it from his dad overseas.
"Thank you...so much...you are so nice to me. Nobody else showed up but you did. I-I don't deserve it. You have such a cool quirk while I'm…"
The tears welled up as the young boy looked at the ground. He felt a lump in his throat as the emotions welled up and made their escape.
"Worthless."
A hard punch landed on the boy's shoulder, dragging his attention to the burning eyes of a frustrated little girl.
"Stop it! Don't you ever do that again."
"Do what?"
"Insult my brother, you dingus!" She puffed her cheeks and stuck out a forked tongue.
Izuku was confused. He never made disparaging remarks about anyone's siblings. Besides, his reptilian pal had an older sister and some cousins but no brother.
Then it hit him, as did the tears. He felt blessed just to have a real friend, one Who was genuinely kind to him and didn't treat him like garbage. But to actually consider him family? The quirkless boy was touched beyond words and could only cry. This had been the best birthday he could ever ask for.
"Hey, Zuku-bean. Don't fall apart on me!" the young girl laughed softly, puncturing the turn of phrase by breaking into several chunks using her quirk. This got a laugh out of her fellow greenette.
"There we go. A smile worthy of All Might~"
"T-thank you, Setsu-Chan… Even without a quirk… I feel grateful. You'll make a great hero some day."
"Aww shucks. You too, my bro-coli."
"You are way better at nicknames then Ka--"
Setsuna cut him off with a finger to his mouth and shook her head.
"Nope. He didn't show up so he doesn't get airplay. Baby Boom boom can stew in his ego. This is your day."
Izuku looked at the vintage Young age All Might figure Setsuna had bought him, as well as the Godzilla themed card she picked out in typical Tokage fashion.
"No ...it's our day ...you...You called me your brother….I...so that makes you my sister...right?"
"Duh? Of course. Cone on. I think there is some cake left. You run interference and I'll bring it into your room so we can watch Power Rangers."
"Gotcha...um...Sis-suns? Setsister?"
The lizard girl snorted and laughed.
"Needs work but I like it. Come on! We heroes have a special mission!" The girl posed dramatically with a wink. Izuku followed her lead.
And thus a meaningful day continued until it was time for the Tokages to leave. But of course, there was more to the story than that. Perhaps one day, it will be told. For now, both children left secure in the knowledge that their families had grown by bonds if friendship.

Entry 265
Seeing how Jarod fought, I believed my son’s claim that he was trained by Death herself.  If Lady Pendreigh were anyone lesser, she’d have broken bones within the first minute.  After five, he’d likely be hitting pulp, considering how easily he had incapacitated my son.  Even as an observer, I couldn’t find what mistakes Lady Pendreigh was making in this fight, though there surely were some.
Her feints were brushed aside in a casual manner, but the occasional following hit by Jarod would have crippled the offending limb.  Her actual attacks were predicted, and treated even more aggressively with precise strikes against the joints.  Lady Pendreigh’s skill in combat was clear as ever, but this man’s style truly made him a living weapon.
So caught up was I by the display that I took several seconds in realizing that a rattling sound was coming from nearby.  A small girl with voluminous blonde hair was standing there, shaking intensely as she held a serving tray which held a fine tea set.
“Raine!?  Are you alright?” questioned Mr. Somerset, obvious concern showing in his voice.
Such a noise interrupting a demonstration was disgraceful, but there was something peculiar about how the girl shook as if she were trying to restrain herself but couldn’t completely.
“J-James… i-is... is s-she r-really… d-did she... c-come to t-take…  the t-twins?” replied the girl.  Her eyes were startling, seeming to glow slightly red.  There was malice in them.
My daughters had moved in front of me protectively, but I caught a look of fear on their face.  They were too disciplined to show such things after years spent under Lady Pendreigh’s tutelage, yet the fear showed.
“Ah.  Raine.  Thank you for delivering us our tea.  Was Marco busy?” inquired Lady Pendreigh conversationally.
“W-we can’t… c-can’t let I-Izu-m-mi…  A-Alma… t-the wedding…” complained the girl in an almost begging tone.  Her insolence was trying my patience.
I considered acting to put an end to this, but there was a warning tickling my nerves.  My senses made me feel I should run.  Something was terribly wrong.
“Why don’t I take these for you?” suggested Lady Pendreigh, using a spell to take the tray.  She seemed wary of the girl.  “Word does travel fast around here, doesn’t it.  Lady Izumi, how do you feel about your daughters’ engagement?”
“To whom am I speaking?” I asked, forcing myself to keep a level tone.
“Oh.  My apologies.  Allow me to introduce Raine Vance, possibly the most timid werecat on the planet.  Raine, this is the mother of Ai and Mai, Lady Izumi Drache.”
“I think I better have a word with Raine in private.  Please feel free to continue in my absence.” stated Mr. Somerset, seeming cautious in how he reached toward the girl.
She vanished, and I felt my composure drop to my stomach, knotting away.  The room had grown darker, and a sense of malevolence was there.  My eyes scanned the area for a would-be attacker, but I was distracted by the obvious wariness in Lady Pendreigh.
“Raine!  Please, just calm down!  I know you don’t want to hurt anyone.  I promise you that things will work out.” insisted Mr. Somerset, though he seemed nervous as well as he talked to a dark spot in the corner.
My mind reeled against what I was seeing, two spots of glowing red in complete darkness.  I only caught a glimpse before a majority of the darkness vanished along with the eyes.  I jumped when I realized there was a… thing next to James now.
“Y-you p-promise?” came an eerie voice, like a whisper echoing down a long hall unnaturally loud.
What I was seeing fully registered.  This was a demon, a very strong demon.  I could see the cat-like features, but they were all wrong.  The fur was more like millions of needles covering her body.  The teeth looked too long for her mouth, and the claws were even larger, but still ended in razor thin tips.  Shadowy projections emanated from the creature, as if her intentions to murder me were on display.
Mr. Somerset reached out, placing his hand on a very human shoulder as he said, “I promise.”
The girl was crying.  “I-I w-was… I-I’m sorry.”
He hugged her and told her “Don’t be sorry.  Just go find something to distract you for a bit.  I seem to recall you being behind on your orders for the guild in Ancient Tribes of Earth.”
 “I-I was w-working… l-last n-night.  W-well, I-I f-felt… I… n-napped.  S-sorry.  I-I’ll get… f-finish t-them.” she mumbled.  Then she was gone, far too quick to follow.
Chills were still racing up my spine, and the knot in my stomach was firmly resisting any attempt to unravel it.  I was sweating like some mere human, but I was thankful to be alive.
“Sorry about the interruption, but Raine can be rather forceful in a way. “ suggested Mr. Somerset, seeming perfectly calm again.
“F-forceful?  You’re harboring a d-demon.” I replied in my native tongue, embarrassed by the crack in my voice.  I forced air through my lungs, commanding my body to be calm.
“She’s only half-demon.  She really is half-werecat.  Don’t worry.  Adelmar keeps himself apprised of my staff.” he insisted, still speaking English.
“He is well aware that I am a vampire and still offered me France.” stated Cosette with a smile that showed small points grow from her fangs.  “He can be quite generous, don’t you think?”
I stepped away from the girl before I registered what I was doing.  This household was even more dangerous than I had believed.  “Adelmar is aware of this?” I questioned, wanting confirmation from another of the family.
“Of course.  Are you insinuating that I would keep things from my cousin?” asked Lady Pendreigh in a reasonable tone that didn’t conceal the threat.
“N-no.” I assured her, embarrassed again.  I took a strong grip on my nerves as I turned to Mr. Somerset.  “You have interesting companions, Mr. Somerset.”
He nodded and said, “Call me James, please.  I still think of my father as ‘Mr. Somerset.’”  Smiling, he asked “What did you think of Jarod’s performance before the interruption?”
“He is a remarkable man, and I would be quite happy to accept him as the husband of one of my daughters.” I replied, proud that my voice had sounded smooth.
He sighed, seeming displeased by my reply.
“Okaasama, careful!” urged one of my daughters.
“She’ll hear you.” agreed her twin.
The teapot tipped, pouring tea into a glass which floated over to me.  The next went to James, and finally one came my way.
“Your daughters are trying to keep you alive.  I am quite certain that Raine has better hearing than James and me.” claimed Lady Pendreigh, a picture of calm.
Her words struck a blow to my peace of mind.  If what she said were true, I was making an extremely dangerous enemy.  I kept reminding myself that the Great One had approved of my trip.  He was on my side in this matter.
“Even knowing your daughters as you do, how can you insist on marrying separate people?” asked James, sounding genuinely confused.
“They are two people, and polygamy is illegal.” I reminded him.
Lady Pendreigh sighed this time.  Then she said, “Adelmar has just granted James permission to challenge you over the matter with me presiding over the challenge.  James, please leave some life in her.  A light flick will probably be enough.”
“But…” I started to protest.  :Great One, is this true?: I questioned, knowing he’d be monitoring my thoughts.
:Yes, Izumi.  You spit in the face of those obviously superior to you and wish for me to make time to save you?  Know your place and respect your betters.  You know quite well that James could kill you with ease.  If he does, even by accident, I might just let James represent our affairs in Japan as well as your other holdings.: replied Adelmar.  He continued speaking in my mind, explaining the full weight of my mistakes in this matter.
I should never have expected to get my daughters back from Lady Pendreigh.  They were hers completely, and Adelmar prized them more than my firstborn due to that.  I knew their training was likely superior to what I could offer, but being told so bluntly left me shaken to my core.
I handed my tea to a daughter and quickly took a dogeza position before saying, “I concede and ask your forgiveness.”
“Please rise.  I’m happy that we could reach peaceful settlement on the matter.” stated James pleasantly.
I did as he said but didn’t dare look in his eyes.  My status in the family had taken enough of a hit already from this blunder.  Adelmar still preached in my mind.
“If you’ll excuse me, I want to check on Raine.  Mila will inform you when dinner is ready if you’ll dine with us.” he told me.  Then he turned and walked out of the door.
Lady Pendreigh motioned for me to sit, having taken a seat herself.  “Raine is quite the wonder.  I cannot follow her movement.  Without Cosette’s aid, I likely would still bear the small wound she gave me when I pushed her too far.”
I surely stared at her with wide eyes.  Such an admission was rare, but I nodded, seeing the warning behind the words.  If Lady Pendreigh could not recover from the wound, Raine could easily carve her will into my skin for all to see.  I certainly did not have a vampire to assist me.  Who could stop Raine?  Who would even try?  Speed beyond Lady Pendreigh typically took a Slayer, but speed she could not even follow was unheard of.
“How is Duncan these days?” questioned Emma.
I felt uncomfortably aware of how much wood surrounded us.  Even being in a house with Emma placed me in a trap.  “He is well and his interest has not waned.” I replied.
Cosette smiled and said, “I look forward to meeting him someday.  His sisters always speak well of him.”
“You honor us.” I replied.  Then I asked “Please pardon any rudeness, but from what part of the family do you hail to be offered France?”
“The House of Bourbon.  My father was Louis XVI, though my mother was not Marie Antoinette.  I was born after his change to another vampire.” she explained.
I could see the value of having someone of the family who could also act from within the vampires, but I needed to do research into her lineage to guess at her powers, at least the Slayer-born ones.  His reign was long before my time.  I knew she wasn’t of Papak’s bloodline, so skill with magic and physical strength could tell me more of her vampire nature as soon as I learned her exact age.
Given her father’s age and former position, she might well be privy to many of our family’s secrets, even ones that were supposedly taken to the grave.  As conversation continued, I became more and more convinced that I’d get nothing from her.  The girl’s speech and motions might as well have been rehearsed with how easily she could redirect conversation without giving away anything.  If I could stand the thought of vampire grandchildren, I would suggest that my son redirect his attentions.

Tsuyu: I’m home. Kero.
Beru: Welcome back sweetie. Your father and I are making dinner. We are hav...ing... Ribbit? *Beru smiles as she turned the corner wearing her apron to see her daughter only to be surprised that she was not alone.*
Izuku: H-Hello Asai-san. It is a pleasure t-to meet you. Sorry f-for the intrusion. I’m M-Midoriya Izuku. *Izuku nervously stutter bowing to Beru. with a blush.*
Tsuyu: *Tsuyu watched her mother look at her love then at her and then back at him then back at her while pointing at him causing Tsuyu to let out a sigh.* As e said he is Midoriya Izuku, the one that I told you are was meeting up with earlier today. Dad invited him to dinner when he was causing spying on us. *Tsuyu explained before adding while taking hold of the nervous hero’s hand.* Oh and just to have it out of the way now, Izuku is my boyfriend. Kero.
Beru: *At first the young couple watched as the older frog woman start at them with a trademark Asai stare, unmoveing like a statue, when looking up and placing her finger on her chin and muttering.* That would explain why Ganma insisted we cook so much curry. *She then stepped forward to Izuku returned the bow to the still bowing hero.* Its a Pleasure to meet you as well Midoriya. I’m Asai Beru but please call me Beru. My Daughter me a lot about your heroic fetes. Now if you could go and please wait in the living room I would like a moment to talk to Tsuyu and scold my husband for spying. Which I apologize for. Its an old habit of his. Ribbit.
Izuku: Now I see where Tsuyu gets her bluntness from. *He thought to himself also think how cute it is that they all croaked in different ways.* O-Oh okay. Sure. Th-Thank you As-Uh, Beru-san. *Izuku said, still blushing as she looked at his girlfriend who gave him a nod signalling him it was okay as he and the two Asai walked down the hall showing him to the living room, to which he took as seat on the couch before being left alone. However, he soon realized that he was in fact not alone when he noticed two small heads peaking over the arm of the couch, Izuku keeping himself from jumping in surprise before smiling and giving a small wave to his loves younger siblings.* Hello. You must be Samidare and Satsuki right? Your sister told me a lot about you two. I’m Midoriya Izuku. It’s nice to meet you both.
Satsuki: *The two children stared at the the green haired hero for a moment before the little girl turned to her brother and whispered loud enough for Izuku to hear.* Where is his crown and why isn’t he glowing gero?
Izuku: Huh?
Samidare: *Whispers back to his sister, which Izuku can still hear.* Satsuki, just because Sis calls him her prince charming doesn’t mean he is a actual prince. Don’t know why he isn’t glowing though?
Izuku: Glowing?
Satsuki: *The little girl and boy then hopped onto the couch, Samidare taking a seat as Satsuki to pock his cheeks and patted his hair.* Hey Prince charming, Sis said that you glow. Why aren’t you glowing? Do you need to rechange?
Izuku: *It took a few second to realize what she was talking about when it clicked him his head and said.* Oh. You must mean quirk. I glow when I activate it.
Samidare: Is that why you don’t get all muscular like All Might, kero?
Izuku: Eh? *Izuku exclaimed, staying calm but still panicking slight that Tsuyu maybe have told her family about One for All, he telling her the truth of his quirk to make sure not to keep any secrets between them.*
Samidare: Sis mentioned that she thought your quirk was similar to All Might’s quirk because its so powerful.
Izuku: *Izuku let out a small sigh of relief that Tsuyu kept his secret, he knew she would, and smiled.* Y-Yeah. That’s right. Al though because it is so like All Might he is teaching me how to use my quirk like his. *It was at this moment the two frog siblings stopped and stared in shock at Izuku.*
Samidare: You know All Might? Personally?
Izuku: Well yeah... He’s, uh, kinda dating my mom too. *Then after a moment of silence Satsuki got up and sat in Izuku’s lap and Samidare right next to him leaning in close.*
Satsuki/Samidare: Tell us everything.
~MEANWHILE! In the kitchen~
Beru: What. Have. I. Told. You. About. Spying? *Beru frowned at her husband who sat on a chair taking a tongue lashing, literally.*
Ganma: I-ow-am-ow. Sor-ow-ry. Gerow! *Ganma apologize between each tongue karate chop to his head.*
Beru: You should be. Ribbit. We are not into the PSIA anymore. Can could have gotten in a lot of trouble if caught.
Tsuyu: To be fair on that front, I don’t think he would have if Izu’s asking for permission to kiss me didn’t surprise him enough to make him croak. *Tsuyu chimed in only to have her mother whip away towards her making her gulp.*
Beru: This brings us to you young lady. *Her voice started firm and strict but quickly softened.* Why didn’t you tell us the truth?
Tsuyu: *Tsuyu’s gaze moved down to the floor.* In full honesty, I’m not entirely sure myself. On one hand I was afraid that you two would disapprove of me dating or worse of me dating Izu since he is my first boyfriend and scare him away.
Ganma: We’ll wait and see about that GerOW! *Ganma said only to get whipped by her wife’s tongue.*
Beru: Sorry please continue.
Tsuyu: Well  I assure you both he is a great and kind boyfriend, always thinking of my happiness and safety first. Always helping out others. So Bravo and will to put himself in harms way to save everyone especially me. *Tsuyu smiles with a slightly blush.* Plus, he admires me and doesn’t find my frog features ugly. If fact, I even walked in on him defending me to a class B student talking about how beautiful and perfect he thinks I am. I even recorded some of it Kero. *Tsuyu added pulling out her phone and showing her parents the clip of Izuku ranting about how amazing her quirk is as it turns to how beautiful and cute she is when someone points out Tsuyu record him causing him to turn bright red and freeze with embarrassment while trying to hide his face.* That’s my favorite part Kero.<3
Ganma: Hmm I still need to interrogate him though does he always act like this? Gero.
Beru: He is like a puppy if you turned them into a human. Ribbit. *Beru smiled before asking.* So what was the other reason why you did tell us the truth about having a boyfriend?
Tsuyu: Well... *Tsuyu now her neutral express turning to one of embarrassment.* I... Kind liked having the privacy of a secret relationship. Just being able to be with Izu without a worry in the world so we can go of dates, hold hands, share hugs and kisses, and cuddle and not worry about being spied on. *Tsuyu looked up to see both parents slacked jaws and shocked.* Kero?
Ganma: Ts-Tsuyu...What Exactly do you mean by “Cuddle”?
Tsuyu: What do you mean? *She asked think that it was pretty straight forward, remember her and Izuku cuddling in his bed while watching a movie.*
Beru: Honey. Do. Do need to have the talk? *Beru questioned.*
Tsuyu: Kero?
Beru: W-Well you see, when two people love each other very much like me and your father your body will start to feel- *Beru started to explain.*
Ganma: Beru! Don’t use us as an example for this! Gero! *He panicked.*
Tsuyu: Kero?
Beru: Why not? I think we are the perfect example.
Ganma: Because! Because do you really want that image in our daughter’s head? Wait, Should I even be in here for this? I mean I know I’ll but giving the talk to Samidare when he is older but! Gero! *The oldest frog man frantically exclaimed making Tsuyu realize now what her parents thought she meant by cuddle.*
Tsuyu: Oh... Oh! Mom! Dad! That isn’t what I meant by cuddle! *Tsuyu said as nervously as he boyfriend would have, making her glad he wasn’t here to see it.*
Beru/Ganma: Ribbit/Gero?
Tsuyu: I meant ACTUAL cuddling like when we lay down on a couch to watch a movie. That kind of cuddling.
Beru: Oh.
Ganma: Are you sure, gero?
Tsuyu: Yes. kero. *Tsuyu nodde as her parents let out a sigh when Tsuyu continued.* Beside, We both agreed to wait until after we become official hero after we graduate.
Beru/Ganma: RIBBIT/GERO!?!
Tsuyu: *Ding* Oh the curry is done, kero.
*Here is part 2 of Izuku meeting the Asai’s. As you can tell I am making most of this shit up as I go.*

All Japanese
Before I get to the main attraction (i.e., Rokumeikan) it’s worth taking a moment to consider the other plays presented at the Fujigaya drama festival. The first point worth noting (as Kazusa does while reading the flyer) is that all the plays are Japanese in origin and on Japanese themes.
This contrasts with the previous year, when the plays seemed “designed to avoid as much as possible anything that hints of transgression .... through productions that are isolated in time and place from modern Japan, and thus avoid direct commentary on contemporary Japanese society.” None of this year’s plays take place in modern Japan, but a play like Rokumeikan is certainly more relevant to contemporary Japanese society than Wuthering Heights.
What about the other two? The Bamboo Cutter is based on a thousand-year-old Japanese folktale (竹取物語 Taketori Monogatari), also known as The Tale of Princess Kaguya (かぐや姫の物語 Kaguya-hime no Monogatari), about an old childless couple who discover a baby in a stalk of bamboo and raise her as their own. As she grows to become a young woman she is beset by suitors, including the Emperor, but refuses them all, and is eventually carried away to the moon to rejoin her people.
This seems simply a charming tale fit for elementary school students, but as Caroline Cao points out in an Anime Feminist article, it can be interpreted as implicitly criticizing a father driven by “patriarchal obsessions” to seek social status for himself through his daughter’s marriage: “Had Kaguya’s father not been oblivious to her evident pain and so presumptuous of her welfare, perhaps Kaguya would have lived happily in an earthly life ... away from the greed of men seeking to make a wife out of her.”
The Izu Dancer is a more modern tale, based on a 1926 short story by the famous Japanese author Yasunari Kawabata. Better known in the West as The Dancing Girl of Izu (伊豆の踊子 Izu no odoriko), the story was an early highlight in a career that eventually saw Kawabata win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1968. (Incidentally, that award apparently was a severe blow to Yukio Mishima, as he had also been considered a candidate and thought the Nobel committee would not soon give the award again to a Japanese writer.)
The Dancing Girl of Izu has been translated into English at least twice, by Edward Seidensticker and later by J. Martin Holman. (The Holman translation is apparently more faithful to the Japanese, but I think the Seidensticker translation reads better as English.) Wikipedia calls it “a lyrical and elegiac memory of early love”, but to my Western eye it’s also more than a bit creepy.
Why might I think that? Let’s look at a summary of the plot (from Answers.com): “The nineteen year old narrator, an introspective student on a holiday from an upper class school in Tokyo, ... meets and becomes infatuated with a young dancer in a traveling family of entertainers. At first he feels a vague erotic attraction to her. But when he sees her in the nude in a public bath, he realizes that she is still a [thirteen year old] child, still pure and innocent. This changes his feelings for her to a loving brother-like protector. He is accepted by and becomes close to the family. ... At the end the narrator and the little dancer part with the promise that they will meet again. Yet we understand, as the narrator seems to realize, that this will never happen; this sweet tender moment in life has passed, and the love they feel is impossible.”
(The Seidensticker version gives the student’s and the girl’s ages as 19 and 13 respectively, the Holman version as 20 and 14. I’m guessing that this is because Holman is translating literally ages originally written according to the older Japanese system in which a child is considered to be one year old at birth and their age increases by one year at every New Year.)
On the one hand one could agree with critic Mark Morris that this is a story “about cleansing, purification ... [a] narrative vision that ... generates impulses of release, near jouissance, by means of an effacement of adult female sexuality and its replacement by an impossible white void of virginity ...”, and see it as a worthy literary accomplishment. On the other hand, if one has nearly drowned in the great wave of anime and manga featuring prepubescent “waifus” worshiped for their purity and innocence then the story can be a bit harder to take.
So how has The Dancing Girl of Izu been able to inspire at least six films, three television dramas, and (in Sweet Blue Flowers) an adaptation for the stage deemed suitable for a production by middle schoolers in a stodgy girl’s academy? Some adaptations side-step the implications of the plot by aging the dancing girl up, as in the 1933 silent film version in which the girl’s age goes unmentioned and the 24 year old star Kinuyo Tanaka is hard to mistake for a minor. Others age the student down, as the Fujigaya production presumably does. And some may not care, just as lots of people don’t seem to care that thirteen year old Usagi Tsukino has a boyfriend who’s a university student.
The more interesting question is, does Takako Shimura care? I have no way of knowing. But I will repeat what I have written multiple times now, that Sweet Blue Flowers seems to implicitly endorse relationships between equals (Akira and Fumi, Orie and Hinako) relative to relationships between those unequal in age or other aspects (Chizu and Fumi, Yasuko and Fumi, and Ko and Kyoko). From that point of view I hope you’ll forgive me if I interpret Shimura’s reference to The Izu Dancer as a subtle hint that contemporary Japanese society still has some issues when it comes to young girls and older guys.

Japanese Horror Films of the 1990′s and 2000′s Entry 2
The movie “Ring” (1998), directed by Hideo Nakata may be considered the most popular J-Horror film of all time. It is based on the 1991 novel “Ring” by Koji Suzuki. The film begins with two high schoolers named Masami and Tomoko who are talking about a video tape that bears a curse that kills those who watch it in one week. Tomoko then reveals that she and her boyfriend and two other friends watched a strange tape and then received a phone call right after, but the call was from her mother. But, as soon as Masami goes upstairs, the TV turns on by itself and Tomoko is killed. While this is happening, the cursed tape story is being covered by Tomoko’s aunt Reiko Asakawa, who is a reporter. At Tomoko’s funeral, Reiko learns that two of Tomoko’s friends died on the same night and their faces were found “twisted in fear”. So, Reiko investigates Tomoko’s room and finds a receipt for a photo that shows the four friends with all their faces distorted. Reiko goes to the cabin to investigate and finds an unlabeled tape and watches it. The tape shows a series of disturbing images while making a loud screeching noise and ends with an image of an open well. Reiko then receives a phone call but can only hear the loud screeching. Reiko realizes what may have just happened so she locates her ex husband Ryuji to help investigate. The two take a picture of Reiko’s face and find that the face is distorted in that picture as well, so Ryuji watches the tape and asks Reiko to make him a copy of the tape so that he may further study it. They find a message saying “frolic in brine, goblins be thine” which is dialect from Izu Oshima island. They also learn of a woman named Shizuko Yamamura who lives on this island and is seen in the tape. So, Reiko and Ryuji sail to Oshima to learn more about Yamamura. They learn that Yamamura predicted the eruption of Mt. Miahara, and was heavily investigated, and had many slanderous reports which drove her to suicide. That night, Reiko and Ryuji stay at the inn ran by Yamamura’s brother, Takashi. Reiko and Ryuji have a horrific vision of Yamamura’s daughter Sadako killing the reporter whop incited her mother’s suicide. The vision also featured Sadako running up to Reiko and grabbing her wrist. When she wakes up, she notices a hand shaped bruise on her wrist. Reiko and Ryuji realize that Sadako created the cursed tape to express her fury against the world. The two sail back to Izu and discover a well underneath the cabin where Tomoko and her friends watched the tape. Then, through another vision, they realize that Sadako’s corpse is at the bottom of the well. They empty the water from the well and eventually find Sadako’s corpse, and they then notice that the bruise has disappeared from Reiko’s wrist and are relieved that the curse is seemingly broken. The next day, Ryuji suddenly hears the loud screeching and sees that the TV has been turned on by itself and is showing the well from the end of the tape. He watches as Sadako’s ghost crawls out of the well, then through his TV which frightens him to a fatal state of shock. Reiko, who had been trying to call him, goes to the house and finds that he has died and his body has been taken away by police already. The film ends with a vision that causes Reiko to realize she was the only one freed from the curse by copying the tape and showing it to someone else.
A key scene from the film, (and perhaps one of the most iconic scenes in J-Horror history) was when Sadako crawled through the TV. Ryuji notices the loud screeching noise and goes to the TV, where he realizes that the tape is displaying the final shot that shows the well. He then sees Sadako in a white dress with long black hair covering her entire face slowly crawl up from the well. In a state of shock, he stares at the TV watching until he hears the phone ring. He goes to the phone, but only hears more of the loud screeching. Sadako slowly approaches the screen and proceeds to crawl through the television. Ryuji yells and runs, but falls and tries to get away, but when he turns back, he is able to see the eye of Sadako, which shocks and kills him. This is a key scene because it was the climax of the movie. When it was believed that the curse was lifted and all was good, at the most unexpected moment we see the most extreme display of horror in the entire movie. This scene is a legendary movie scene and had great influence on J-Horror films and horror films in general.

Most people have a bucket list of places that they want to travel to before they die. We dream of visiting exotic islands, beautiful cities, natural wonders, and historical landmarks. But what you may not know about some of the places you visit is their background – and what exactly the sites are notorious for. The places we are looking at today may be stunning to visit and gorgeous to photograph, but they also have a dark side. They are suicide hotspots, places where people go to end their own lives. Traveling to another place to end your own life is known as suicide tourism and this also applies to people who want to end their lives because they are suffering from terminal illness. Suicide is never the answer. In most of the places we are looking at today, measures have been taken to try and deter people from taking their own lives by offering help to those who need it. We can all take action to help people who are suicidal by knowing the warning signs and taking threats of suicides seriously. So if you ever get to travel to one of the places on this list keep in mind that many people took their last breath in these locations.
#1 Mount Mihara, Japan – Almost 1000 People Jumped In In 1933 a 21 year old student named Kiyoko Matsumoto took her own life by jumping into the crater of Mount Mihara, an active volcano located on the island of Izu Oshima in Japan. Her suicide started a deadly trend and over the course of the next three years, more than 944 people also leaped into the volcano. To try and stop people taking their own lives authorities restricted access to the highest vantage point, built a fence, and made it illegal to purchase a one-way ticket to the site. The volcano last erupted in 1990, sending lava fountains up to a mile-high spewing out the top and prompting a total evacuation of the island. Major eruptions tend to occur every 100-150 years at Mount Mihara.
#2 West Gate Bridge, Australia – Mother Took Her 18 Mo. Old With Her At 8,473 feet the West Gate Bridge in Melbourne is the third longest bridge in Australia and also one of the highest at 190 feet. The bridge, which rises up over Westgate Park (a recreational reserve), is one of the busiest roads in Australia, carrying in excess of 200,000 vehicles every day. According to police data, there is about one suicide every three weeks at West Gate Bridge. In one tragic case, a young mother jumped from the bridge taking her 18 month old baby with her. After a man threw his four-year-old daughter over the bridge in 2009 a temporary barrier was installed, which was converted into a permanent feature later on. There have been a number of cases where police officers trying to prevent jumpers have almost been dragged over the edge themselves, and this barrier will hopefully prevent this from happening in the future.
#3 Tehran Metro, Iran – Someone Jumps Every Month The Tehran Metro, a rapid transit system in Tehran, Iran, is still under construction, but already spans over 110 miles and carries roughly 2 million passengers every day. By the time it’s complete (around 2020) it will have a total length of 270 miles, consisting of 9 lines. The tariffs are reasonable and it has improved the lives of the people of Tehran dramatically. But sadly, it is also a place where desperate people go to end it all. According to Tehran Metro authorities, at least one successful suicide occurs every month in the subway system. The figures for attempted suicides (people who are rescued before they jump in front of the trains) are not known. Not only is this devastating for the families of the victims and the victims themselves, but also terrifying for other commuters who witness such an event.
#4 Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, China – Over 2000 Lives The San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge was once considered to be the most popular suicide site in the world, but it was recently overtaken by the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge in China. This bridge was constructed in 1968 and since then more than 2000 people have taken their last breaths here before leaping to their deaths. The number of deaths on this bridge may even be higher as many bodies have never been recovered. Also, police in the area do not include people who jumped off the bridge, missed the water and hit the riverbanks, in the total number. On a slightly less morbid note, police records show that since 2007 up to 200 people have been rescued from the bridge and one local man has single-handedly rescued more than 300 people from the bridge and helped them get the support they need.
#5 Sunshine Skyway Bridge, United States – Installed Crisis Hotline Phones Along The Bridge The Sunshine Skyway Bridge that crosses Tampa Bay is believed to be haunted. That’s not very surprising when you consider that since 1987 more than 200 people have taken their own lives by jumping from the highest span of the bridge. It’s estimated that at least another 50 people have jumped from the bridge and survived. It’s easy to think that jumping from a height like this into the water would be a quick and painless death, but as Corporal Gary Schluter of the Florida State Highway Patrol explains this is far from true. Hitting the water after the 4-second fall is more like hitting concrete and sometimes the jumpers remain conscious after suffering bone-crushing injuries and slowly drown in the water. To try and quell the number of suicides at this site the State of Florida installed crisis hotline phones along the bridge in 1999 and began 24-hour patrols, but the total amount of jumpers has not declined in the last 18 years.
#6 Aokigahara Forest, Japan – Most Popular Site In Japan, 8 People Every Month Aokigahara forest located in Mount Fuji, Japan, is a popular tourist destination. The forest is dense and the porous lava ground underfoot absorbs sound, making it the perfect place to find solitude. But the forest has another nickname as well, the Suicide Forest. This is because this forest is the most popular suicide spot in Japan with around 105 suicides a year, roughly 8 every month. Most of the deaths in the forest are caused by intentional hanging or overdose and the bodies are sometimes not found until months later. There are signs all along the trails urging suicidal visitors to consider their families and contact a suicide prevention group for assistance. It’s not surprising that many consider this forest to be haunted. The forest has been the subject of several movies, including The Sea of Trees with Matthew McConaughey and The Forest with Natalie Dormer.
#7 Golden Gate Bridge, United States – Building Barriers For Prevention This location needs little introduction. It’s one of the most internationally recognized and photographed structures in the world and has been declared one of the Wonders of The Modern World. And while many people travel long distances to admire the beauty of the 4,200-foot Golden Gate Bridge others go there for a far darker reason… The Golden Gate Bridge is the second-most used suicide spot in the world, following the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge. It was opened in 1937 and to date, almost 1500 people have taken their lives by jumping over the edge and plunging 245 feet into the water. Most of them die from impact trauma while a small portion survive the fall but soon drown or succumb to hypothermia. Construction started in April 2017 to install suicide barriers and the project should be completed by 2021.
#8 Prekestolen, Norway – Authorities Have Refused To Put Barriers To Keep The Site’s Beauty This incredible spot is only accessible via a 2.4 mile hike but as you can see it would definitely be worth it. Prekestolen, a 1,968-foot mountain cliff in Rogaland, Norway is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Norway with approximately 150,000 visitors a year. The cliff is also a popular site for BASE jumpers from all over the world. The name of the cliff translates to Preachers Pulpit or Pulpit Rock. You would think that the remoteness of this site would prevent high suicide numbers and you’d be right too. But there are still people that make the one-way journey to leap off this cliff. Authorities have been asked to install a barrier or fencing, however, they have so far refused, saying that it will ruin the natural beauty of the site. Still, I bet standing up there must be pretty creepy.
#9 Prince Edward Viaduct, Canada – Averaged One Person Every 22 Days In ’97 By 2003 the Prince Edward Viaduct in Toronto, Canada was the second most used suicide site in North America, following the Golden Gate Bridge. By that year there had already been nearly 500 suicides at this site which earned the Viaduct a macabre nickname, “a magnet of suicide”. The worst year was 1997 when the suicide rate averaged one person every 22 days. The jumpers were also posing a safety risk to the traffic traveling underneath. Since then a barrier called the Luminous Veil, consisting of 9,000 steel rods, has been erected at a cost of $5.5 million to prevent people from taking their lives from the Viaduct. Sadly, the overall suicide rate by jumping has not decreased in the city of Toronto since its construction.
#10 Van Stadens Bridge, South Africa – Installed A Video Surveillance System The Van Stadens Bridge crosses over the Van Stadens River in the Eastern Cape of South Africa and the view from the bridge into the gorge is quite incredible. It was opened for use in 1971 but just 12 days later a local man committed suicide by jumping off the bridge. Since then it has gained the reputation as the Bridge of Death as it is one of the most popular suicide sites in South Africa. From the bridge it is a 460-foot drop to the valley floor below and since the bridge was opened almost 90 people have taken their lives here. A video-surveillance system was installed in 2005 and in 2013 a full-length barrier was erected to try and prevent further loss of life.
#11 Beachy Head, England – Team Patrols The Site For Jumpers It’s easy to see why Beachy Head located in East Sussex, England, is a popular tourist attraction. It is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, rising up 530 feet from sea level. But with no barriers or fences in place, it has also become one of the world’s most notorious spots for suicides. Between 1965 and 1979 alone, there were an estimated 124 deaths at Beachy Head, almost all of which were ruled suicides. Thanks to the work done by the Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team, who patrol the area day and night, the rate of jumpers has decreased, but there are still about 20 suicides a year at this site. Locals are always on the lookout for potentially suicidal visitors and there are signs posted along the trail with emergency numbers for troubled souls.
#12 Lawyers Head, New Zealand – Road Leading To Site Was Closed For Prevention I know what you’re thinking – this picture doesn’t look disturbing at all. It just looks like a gorgeous beach, the kind of place that would make the perfect vacation spot. Well, when you hear why this spot is infamous you might have second thoughts about that. Lawyers Head is a well-known landmark along the coast of Otago, New Zealand, but the spot is not only known for its beauty. It also has the reputation of having the highest number of suicides in New Zealand. In 2006 the road leading to this landmark was closed and although this frustrated residents it had one benefit. Because people could not reach the site there were no more suicides whereas in the 10 years before that 13 people took their lives by jumping off the 111-foot cliff. This may not sound like a lot, but keep in mind that New Zealand only has a tiny population of around 4 million people.
#13 Eduardo Villena Rey Bridge, Peru – Covered Bridge With Windows For Prevention Miraflores, a district of Lima, Peru, is an upmarket area with plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops which makes it one of the main tourist spots in the region. It is also where the Eduardo Villena Rey Bridge is found; a site notorious for its high suicide rates. Peru is a religious country where suicide is not freely discussed, making it difficult for those with suicidal thoughts to get help. The site became so notorious that the city decided to cover the bridge with large windows to try and lower the number of deaths. This has worked well although locals believe that the street underneath the bridge is haunted by the souls of the dead jumpers and they avoid it whenever possible. Can’t say we blame them given its reputation.
#14 Nusle Bridge, Czech Republic – 365 People Since Its Opening The Nusle Bridge is an essential component in the Prague transport system. It carries six lanes of roadway, two train tracks, and pedestrian traffic. The bridge was opened in 1973 and although it is a beautiful landmark it does have a darker reputation. It’s been nicknamed “Suicide Bridge” due to the approximately 365 deaths that have taken place here since its opening. In an effort to prevent further loss of life the city erected tall fence railings in 1997 but this did little to help as would-be jumpers simply climbed to the top of the fence. In 2007 the fencing was topped off with three feet of polished metal that now make it impossible to get over. Not a place you’d want to be walking alone on a dark night is it?
#15 Segovia Viaduct, Spain – Thick Glass Panes Were Added For Prevention Construction of the original Segovia Viaduct in Madrid started in 1874 and the bridge has been through a number of rebuilds and restorations since then. It has been a suicide hotspot almost since it was first completed, which makes the total number of suicide deaths difficult to calculate but we do know that suicides peaked in the nineties with at least four people a month jumping off the bridge. It’s estimated that in the 20th century alone around 500 people took their own lives here, hence why it is referred to as The Suicide Bridge. In 1998 the city added thick acrylic glass barriers to prevent people from jumping off the bridge. This has not only made it safer for vehicles and pedestrians passing underneath the bridge but has also worked well to deter jumpers.
