It sounds like Joe and Ken focused on telling stories, stories that being stories focused on the world and characters they knew. While Pete's were more focused on delivering a message with story flavored wrapping.
This is very much the case, but the difference seems to go even deeper than that, to a fundamental difference in worldviews that affect how they approach story.
Episodes written by Joe Fallon and Ken Scarborough respect children as people. Children have been shaped by their experiences and have unique personalities. Children are curious and have brains--they are driven to explore new things and can draw conclusions from what they see and do. Children are already people who deserve respect, and like all of us, they're growing into different people as they learn new things and have more experiences. The child characters can thus be the drivers of their own stories and come to learn lessons for themselves. The child audience can relate to those characters, be drawn into the story, and learn what it's trying to teach without having every detail explicitly spelled out.
Episodes written by Peter Hirsch seem to approach children as people-in-training. They might have one or two personality traits, but instead of coming from and interacting with other elements of their background, they're just pasted on, like a sticker you can put on your Generic Child Prototype. These blank-slate children need to have knowledge poured into them so they can become Properly Educated Adults. So in his episodes, these child characters will go through their story with a question, and the adults--the real people--will tell them the information in great detail so these characters--and the watching audience--can go off into the world knowing what the writer has decided they need to know.
In Joe and Ken's episodes, flaws are funny, and can create funny conflicts that will teach the children better ways to approach problems. In Pete's episodes, flaws are horrible things that need to be pointed out, labeled, and sanded away, so these children can grow up into the perfect model of what a Good Adult should be. The first approach is engaging, and celebrates diversity of personality in a community, while the other becomes bland in the interests of shaping all the members of a community into the desired mold.
Comparing the two approaches provides a shockingly thorough lesson in how one should and should not approach writing and education. Story and character and message are all intertwined. Trying to force the message onto the story and characters makes for something bland and generic and unrealistic. Letting the characters shape the story and letting the story bring out the message makes for something much more unique, organic, engaging, and real. And yes, maybe I've come to this conclusion by spending far too much time thinking way too deeply about a bunch of shows for elementary-aged chlidren, but that doesn't mean it's not fascinating to see how, even within the same show, an writer's personality and approach to the audience can make such a vast difference in the quality of a story.

Honestly, Man-Bat would be such a horrifying creature to stumble across in Gotham? At 8'6, he is HUGE, strong enough to carry off a man in his claws while barely slowing down. He might lack the same intelligence he had as Kirk Langstrom but Man-Bat still has keen problem-solving intellect such as picking up an entire wooden desk and throwing it at Batman to hold him in place long enough for an easy bite to the throat. It's that uncanny area between what was once human vs. a hyperpredator making Man-Bat one of the most dangerous creatures to cross whether he's simply hungry enough or has developed a grudge against you for some reason. You can't outrun him and there aren't many places you can hide because not only can he fly, he's able to squeeze into places you yourself would be able to fit into.

We are. We really are.
Anyone up for trans femme Freddy?
[Image Description: Image 1 is a comic page with 9 panels. The first one is a close up of a fluffy and cartoony Freddy’s face from the side. He has a sad expression and is on a dark red background with posters behind him.
The second panel is of Freddy from the front. He still has a sad expression and haze blue filters and layers to show it’s from the perspective of his mirror.
The third panel is small and takes up the top right corner of the second row. It has nothing but the word “Hey.” in it.
The fourth panel shows a close up of Freddy’s eye. It’s wide and looking back towards the fifth panel in the middle of this row.
The fifth panel is of Roxy’s legs on a background indicating she has just entered the room from an open doorway.
The sixth panel and the last panel on this row is of a close up of Roxy’s eye with no clear expression. The text spreading across the last two panels says “I thought you might need some help”.
The seventh panel is of Chica with a happy, smiling face and closed eyes. She’s holding a box and is turned slightly to the left.
The eighth panel is of Roxy from the front with a happy, kind of relaxed expression. Her mouth is open to indicate she is the one speaking.
The ninth panel is of Bonnie turned a little to the right. He has a similar expression to Roxy in the last panel and his arms are crossed over his chest. There’s text spread across this row of panels that reads “So I brought the Cavalry!”
The second image has six panels across another three rows. The first panel takes up the entire top row and is of Freddy sitting at a desk with a star shaped mirror on it. He is turned towards the camera with a touched smile.
The second panel is of Freddy’s hat on the corner of the desk. The third panel is of a paintbrush on a background of stripes of various colours all coming from the brush. There’s faint white stars across the colours. The fourth panel is of three flowing fabrics, one yellow with white polka dots, one blue with faint white flowers, and one purple with faint white stars. In between all of them is a blue bracelet with pink and white spikes, sevel buttons of various colours and several badges of different shapes and colours.
The fith panel is on the last row and is a close up of Freddy’s face. It only shows a bit of his hairstyle and the top of his snout. The text says “So...”
The sixth panel is another close up of Freddy’s eye. The typical blue and red markings are no longer present and instead, there’s a yellow love heart shape with a thick pink outline over his eye. The text reads “what do you think...”
The third image has two panels that take up the top and bottom half of the page. The first panel is of Freddy from the front looking amazed. The yellow and pink heart marking is over his left eye and a larger version of it is over the chest instead of the typical lightning bolt. The left ear also has two piercings instead of the one. The first is a round, transgender flag pattern and the second is a pink, curved diamond shape with a yellow spot in the middle. The stripe on the chin has colours matching the heart shaped markings. The text is a continuation of the previous sentence and reads Freddy’s new name, “Francine?” In the background are the silhouettes of Chica, Roxy and Bonnie.
The bottom panel is of Francine from the front again, this time with a happy expression. Bonnie is hugging her on the left side of the image with a closed eyed, happy expression, while Chica has a similar expression on the right side of the image. She’s also hugging Francine, with one eye closed and one arm wrapped around Roxy who is positioned below and in front of her. Roxy has the side of her face pressed into Francine’s stomach as she hugs her as well and is just as happy as the other two. The background is of three pride flags. The bisexual flag is around both Bonnie and Roxy, the lesbian flag is behind Chica and in the middle behind Francine is the transgender flag. The text above them is Francine saying “It’s PERFECT!”
The last image is half the size of the others and completely black. The text reads “WE’RE Perfect.”
End Image Description]
I am still learning image descriptions. If I’ve done something wrong or you’d like to tell me how to make it better, feel free to let me know.

Anyway I’m still grumpy about this:
Tumblr media
That’s supposed to be Aaron Langstrom on the left and Becky Langstrom on the right, based on hair colour and cut.
This is ridiculous. Here’s a more standard family picture of the Langstroms:
Tumblr media
Note that Becky is older than Aaron. Aaron was born shortly before NML.
Also yes, Aaron was BORN looking like a Man-Bat and can’t transform (and the serum doesn’t work on him):

Alright Hi so im new to this whole reading books thing but what the frick man. I thought everything was lining up to be fine and complete. And then somehow every single decision that was made from that point forward made life so much worse. Idk how people can just read so often and just become used to being thrown around this emotional roller coaster with absolutely no cares in the world. Is this why so many readers are depressed? Do you just develop the ability to not feel things!?

why are you putting me through this?- any muse
"You? Why am I putting you through this?" Fran had enough, she was sick and tired of being blamed for things that she had no control over. First her dad, then Brenner, then Ricky. Nate wasn't going to join that list, she wouldn't let him. "How self-centered do you have to be to realize this isn't about you?"

Reading about how intersex athletes have been treated is so fucking horrible. The countless lies and human rights violations. The discrimination and how it's ruined the lives of so many people is so awful. There has been no apologies from any athletics comptetions or organizations. They have blood on their hands. Just a tw for intersexism and mental health issues and suicide in the next paragraph because it can get pretty heavy.
Annet Negesa, who was a middle distance runner. She was suddenly barred from competing due to her hormones. No one told her why. She was then told she needed to take medication to lower her testosterone, then what she was told was switched. She was lied to about a surgery that she was told was like an injection and would let her compete again. She woke up with scars and had had a gonadectomy. That violation of basic human rights and medical ethics combined with inadequate postsurgical care basically ended her career. She deserves justice. She deserves apologies from the Olympics and everyone single doctor who was involved in it, and compensation and the promise that it should never have happened and will never happen again. She. Needs. Justice.
Pratima Gaonkar needs justice. She was a rising track and field star. After forced sex verificatiom she killed herself. The way media and news treated her after her death was disgusting. She deserves and needs justice. Her family deserves justice.
Santhi Soundarajan had her medals stripped and was treated as an outcast after forced sex verification showed she had androgen insensitivity syndrome. She was treated as an outcast, her gender was mocked. She's spoken out about how much discrimination she's faced, and how badly she's been treated. She now works as a coach, but was barred from competing. She deserves justice.
Caster Semenya deserves justice. Francine Niyonsaba deserves justice. Margaret Wambui deserves justice. Barbra Banda deserves justice. Beatrice Masilingi and Christine Mboma deserve justice.
The racism and intersexism and horrible human rights violations and medical abuse these women have faced for the supposed crime of being intersex and good at a sport is horrible. They deserve justice, but the organizations that perpetuate these atrocities don't seem to care. It's so fucking horrible.

I LOVE how "The Nobles" are so underwhelmed by The Doctor.
Like Jackie Tyler was all "I'll defend them to the ends of the earth."
Francine Jones thought he was so dangerous she was helping the government track him down.
Everyone pretty much has stars in their eyes whenever they're with The Doctor but the Nobles?;
"Yes Millennia old alien, I know the knowledge of the universe is living in your head...but...
Rose: Why are you assuming their gender?
Sylvia: *punch in face
Shaun (seeing lord only knows what going down in his kitchen): Something smells nice!
The only exception is Wilf. You know why? Yes Wilf has stars in his eyes when he sees The Doctor but The Doctor has stars in his eyes when he looks at Wilf.
