“In his room beside the noisy café, he restudies everything conceivable, copies whole speeches out of the report of the parliamentary proceedings at Westminster, and sketches the remotest parts of the earth. At the end of the last of his copy-books, the final entry runs: ‘St. Helena, a small island in the Atlantic Ocean. English colony.’”
— Emil Ludwig, Napoleon

‘‘There's a storm inside of us. I've heard many Team guys speak of this. A burning. A river. A drive. An unrelenting desire to push yourself harder and further than anyone could think possible. Pushing ourselves into those cold dark corners. Where the bad things live. Where the bad things fight. We wanted that fight at the highest volume. A loud fight. The loudest, coldest, darkest, most unpleasant of the unpleasant fights…’’

LEARNING WEEK (part 2)
As I mentioned in my previous post on Monday, this week was all about learning how the ligths work in the forest. Of course this is only a starting point and there is still much to learn!
For a reminder, this is the original piece from Emil Jakob Schindler, it's called Forest Lane near Schärfing. It is originally an oil painting but i didn't dwell yet on that medium, so I made my studies with acrylic.

First I painted a small A4 study about the whole picture. Trying to figure out the lights and which part fascinates me the most.

And then I spent more time also on an A4 on this detail:

Not perfect but that's why I am trying to learn.
