Feyre going to visit Elucien in the Day Court years and years from now and…
Tumblr media
They reside in a large, but somehow very homey manor. When Feyre winnows to the entrance, she’s immediately overcome by the warm, buttery sunlight and the large sprawling garden that seems to wrap around the entire house. Various windows are open, ferns and ivy and all manner of potted greenery tumble out of them as though the home they’ve made for themselves can hardly contain Elain’s green thumb.
It’s Elain who answers the door and ushers Feyre in, and it never fails to surprise her just how much the Day Court suits her sister. Her blush pink gown is made of light, elegant fabric and cinched at her waist by a gold belt. None of the fuss of the gowns that hindered her gardening with all of the beauty of the dresses that had made her the belle of every ball.
Elain says she’s set up tea in the back garden. Lucien is at the local market with their children and will join them soon. While they sip tea among the daffodils and the daisies Elain proudly tells her sister which flowers each of her children have planted, and how poor Sorrell kills most everything he touches.
About an hour later Feyre and Elain can hear the front door open and then the excited voices of Elucien’s brood as their father leads them inside.
“My hands are sticky!”
“A tragedy for the ages, my darling. Lily, you can help Poppy wash them, can’t you? That’s my favorite eldest daughter.”
“I’m your only eldest daughter. Come along, Lily.”
“I’m still hungry, papa!”
“Of course you are, Aster, I’d expect nothing less. I bet your mother has some snacks out in the garden. Aunt Feyre should be there.”
“Papa, can you make me some soup?”
“Papa said he’d help me with the bow today!”
“Jasmine, I’ll make you soup — I know, not too hot. Sorrell, we can still do the bow but I need to get Basil into bed before Im soaked in drool.”
Feyre’s brows are high as she listens to Lucien patiently and diplomatically address each need from within the house. He may be Helion’s heir, a charming courtier and a talented emissary, but he is a natural father. Elain just sips her tea with a small smile, like the sound of Lucien interacting with their children is her favorite melody. Little Aster, who looks every bit his father, comes running out into the garden on skinny legs and tackles his Aunt Feyre with a hug before diving into the cucumber sandwiches.
One by one, everyone but baby Basil comes and visits Feyre. Sorrell and Jasmine depart to go “explore” the woods. Poppy and Lily excuse themselves to make flowers crowns. Aster has some carrots he swears are ready to pick.
Finally, Lucien joins them, and Feyre thinks to herself how much domesticity suits Lucien. The Autumn and Spring Court Attire seemed to stifle him and while the Day Court attire his father wears isn’t exactly his style either, he’s somehow found a balance that suits him. A comfortable white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up and sage colored trousers tucked into riding boots, his fiery hair down but tied back at the sides. He looks dashing decked out in finery, but when Elain rises to kiss him and Feyre sees them together, she can’t imagine him in any other fashion but this. After centuries of clawing his way through darkness, he is in full bloom. Casual and stylish but practical and comfortable.
Feyre stands to embrace him, and she finds it’s hard to recall the time that there had been a wedge between them. The time they were both healing and seeing one another had only reminded them of their shared trauma. Now he plants a kiss on the top of her head and when he sits and joins them for tea, he asks all about Nyx and Andromeda.
The rest of the afternoon passes in a similar fashion with the three adults enjoying the never emptying tea pot, but every twenty minutes one of Elucien’s brood will approach the table. Each time, Lucien drops everything and leans forward to meet them at eye level. He answers every question, listens to every story. Before they resume their activities they always go to Elain for a kiss.
“You’ve both been fortunate to have been blessed with so many children,” Feyre smiles over her tea cup. “Any plans for a seventh?”
Elain sets down her tea cup and saucer with a clatter, her lips in a faint but exhausted smile as she gives her mate a knowing look. Feyre turns her attention to Lucien who grins at Elain from across the table.
“She’s cut me off,” Lucien says, russet eye glinting with amusement. “Give me a few centuries. I bet she’ll go for number seven.”
“You and your father wish,” snorts Elain.
Feyre almost balks at her sister’s flat tone, Lucien has brought out such fire in her.
“I can be very persuasive, lady…”
Elain rolls her eyes. “Oh please.”
Lucien opens his mouth to retort again, but then his metal eye whirs and his lips turn up in a wry smile. “He’s up.”
Feyre realizes that he means Basil. His metal eye somehow imparted this to him. Elain moves to stand, but Lucien is on his feet sooner, motioning for her to remain seated.
“No, enjoy your time with Feyre, lady,” he says, leaning over the table kissing the crown of her head. “I’ll see to him.”
“You’ve tended to them all day,” Elain frowns.
But Lucien is already walking backwards towards the house, rolling his sleeves up a little higher. “And I expect a substantial reward for such acts of heroism tonight.”
Feyre blinks and bites back a smile at Elain’s flushed face. Lucien disappears into the manor.
“To think,” Feyre says, unable to keep the smugness out of her tone, “there was a time I had to elbow you to get you to invite him over.”
Elain laughs softly. “I always knew it would be him. I didn’t need you to elbow me. I was just… taking my time.” She gestures to the garden, the manor. “I saw the eternity he would give me, but I wanted to wait. I wasn’t ready for all of this. For them.”
Feyre knows by ‘them’ she means their family. She doesn’t blame Elain for waiting. Her life here in the Day Court was quite an alteration to when she’d first been Made, quite the commitment. One she now loves.
“To have such certainty must’ve been a blessing and a curse,” Feyre murmurs. “But you always knew?”
Elain looks up at the second story window belonging to the nursery. “Of course. I could hear his heart.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Waiting in his chambers with his mother, Eris felt the wards break. He rolled his eyes up to the ceiling and watched the magic simmer. He then watched as they immediately repaired themselves.
“Your son is here,” he said, with a sigh to his mother. He stood from his chair. “Dramatic as ever.”
Not even a moment later, the doors to the chambers opened. No knock; his brother never knocked. There was a squeal of a female and golden blonde hair rushing to him.
“Eris,” Elain said, hugging him. Eris took a moment to realize what happened and hug her back. She pulled away and looked towards his mother. She gasped. “Is that the baby?”
“Good to see you Elain,” he said with a slight chuckle.
She left him quickly with her lilac dress twirling around her feet, and went to the couch his mother occupied. She murmured her greetings and his mother handed her the babe swaddled in a green blanket. Elain sat beside her and he could hear his daughter’s little grunts from being shuffled around.
“Oh Eris, she’s beautiful.”
Eris felt another presence beside him. “Where’s your wife?”
He looked toward his brother. Eris was surprised to see him in a tunic and trousers, and not in day court attire. Coupled with Elain’s dress that meant they must have come from Spring.
“She’s napping. I’d rather not wake her. She refuses to rest. So when she does, I don’t disturb her.”
“Sounds like Celeste.” Lucien walked over to his mate.
“You know you can't keep breaking the wards, Lucien.” Eris crossed his arms. “You’ll start a war because you’re too lazy to walk in.”
“I keep telling him that,” Elain said. “But he doesn’t listen.”
Lucien himself replied by dismissively waving a hand and giving his mother a hug. He then peered down at the bundle in Elain’s arms. “Oh thank the cauldron, she looks like her mother.”
“Careful,” Eris frowned. His mother didn’t suppress her laugh.
Lucien only smiled at him. “Have you named her yet?”
Eris didn’t answer him. He heard familiar footsteps to his right and tried not to scowl as his wife rounded the corner. She had changed into a red knit sweater and brown trousers. He was at least happy she didn’t feel the need to put on something more formal. Her brown hair looked hurriedly put into a bun, loose strands framing her face. The dark rings were still under her eyes. He wanted to tell her to go back to bed but he knew not to argue in front of family. She gave them all a smile and Lucien walked over to her to hug her.
“I was just telling your husband what a blessing your child looks just like you,” he teased.
“I heard,” she replied with a little yawn. “But she does have his hair.”
“She’s beautiful, Celeste.” Elain told her with a smile.
Celeste said her thanks while Lucien stepped back and looked her over. Eris glared but didn’t say anything. He knew it was ridiculous, but he refused to feel guilty for being jealous and protective. Even if they’d been married for nearly a century.
Lucien frowned, “Eris was right, you still need rest. You look absolutely terrible.”
“Lucien,”  his mother hissed from the couch.
Eris didn’t bother to cut his eyes to his brother. Celeste smacked him on the arm for the both of them. Eris chuckled when he saw Elain, still holding the babe, glared over for a brief moment before schooling her features.
“Elain, come get your mate,” she laughed. “It’s been over a week. I’m fine.”
“She refuses to let me help,” Eris interjected. Celeste rolled her eyes. “It’s the truth. I practically have to steal my own child to bond with her.”
“Now that is a lie if I ever heard one,” Celeste came over and took his hand. “If I’m not holding her, he is. Edith said it would spoiler her.”
“Nonsense,” his mother replied. “She’s always said that. What she didn’t tell you is when she was my healer, she coddled every single one of my boys.”
Celeste grinned. “I think she says it mostly because Eris also takes her to all his meetings even if she’s sleeping.”
He brought her hand up and kissed the tops of her knuckles. He held her gaze tightly. “How can I not? I love to show off your work.”
Lucien made a gagging noise. “Please get a room.”
“These are our rooms,” Celeste replied.
Eris pulled her to him and kissed her cheek, then her lips. He was very pleased with the way she hummed in response, kissing him back.
“Disgusting,” Lucien grumbled.
Elain, ever the polite one, changed the topic. “Did you name her?”
Celeste pulled away, and turned towards her. “We have.” She looked back at Eris.
She asked him a silent question and he nodded. He saw the brief sadness in her eyes and he gripped her hand tight. He knew it would be hard for her, especially with Lucien present, but he stood by her decision when she asked before the baby was born.
He watched her look over to Lucien. Her voice cracked a little when she said, “Her name is Andrea.”
Realization washed over Lucien and his eyes widened. He looked to Eris but Eris only shrugged. Their mother, who had been watching quietly, stood and went to Lucien, squeezing his arm. Elain looked confused.
“That’s a lovely name,” their mother replied.
Celeste let go of Eris’s hand and she went to Elain to retrieve their child. “She’s named after Andras,” she said softly to her. “He was a dear friend,” she turned to Lucien. “A very dear friend to the both of us back in Spring. He gave his life for us to be free. I wanted to honor him.”
Lucien was still eyeing Eris. “And you’re fine with that?”
Eris glowered. “She could have named her Tamlin and I would be fine with it. Truly Lucien, that’s the first comment you want to make?”
Celeste thankfully took no offense and laughed. “Would you let me name your child after my former high lord?”
Eris bristled a little at the reminder. “You labored for two days, as long as it wasn’t Morrigan I was fine with anything.” He swore he heard Elain snort at that remark.
Lucien nodded and looked him over with a grin. “Just checking. You are the jealous type. But I should have guessed Celeste gets whatever she wants.”
Eris only looked to his beautiful wife again, holding their child. He didn’t bother to change his expression into something other than the adoration he felt. “You say that as if it’s a terrible problem to have.”
Another knock came to the door. His other brothers, Piran, Asher, and Cillian filed into the room; followed by Celeste’s mother.
“These three were loitering in the halls,” she stated with great humor before curtsying towards Lucien, Elain, and his mother. “Something about how my daughter’s husband would murder them if they woke her.”
Eris didn’t hide his grin. “I can’t fathom where they heard such an outlandish story.”
“Eris,” Celeste shuffled the babe in her arms so she could smack his arm gently.
“It was kinder for me to kill them if they woke you than to let them suffer your wrath.” Eris retorted. “Everyone in this room knows you’re a monster to wake up.”
Celeste scoffed, dramatically looked very offended. “You wound me deeply.”
Piran stepped around them to greet Lucien and Elain. “Good to see you both.” He turned his head to Lucien. “You keep breaking the wards, Lucien and I’m going to have you banned from Autumn again.”
“I repaired them, didn’t I?” Lucien replied.
“Boys,” their mother said with a tone of warning. “Lucien, promise to your brothers you will stop breaking the wards.”
“You treat me as if I’m a youngling.” He rolled his eyes.
Asher spoke up from near the door. “That’s because you act like one.”
Everyone laughed, including Elain, which made Lucien scowl. She finally cut him a look and he replied. “Fine, I promise I won’t break the wards again.”
Cillian said from beside Asher, “this room is a bit crowded. We came to fetch you all.”
They all filed out the chamber and Eris took Andrea from his wife. He still wasn’t used to it; holding the little being the cauldron blessed them with. She was still so new to the world, for any stark features to truly stand out other than the red hair, pale skin, and her blue eyes. Her little face scrunched as she settled in his arms while he walked down the hall. He smiled down at her for a moment and glanced at his wife walking beside him. He’d probably never understand what he’d done to earn this kind of happiness.
They all reached the conference room that was refurbished as a sitting lounge several decades ago. Once Andrea was placed in the cradle, he sat with his brothers to continue talking. Even Lucien joined them. Eris would never admit how much that meant to him. His mother and Celeste’s mother were off to one side chatting. They offered to sit close to the cradle to keep an eye on the baby. Elain and Celeste went to the far side of the room. Eris could hear his wife talking, catching bits of gossip from Spring and how Elain was bullying the Tamlin into letting her redo the flowerbeds during her visits. He did catch the shift in Elain’s tone that had him worried for only a moment.
“I started that book you sent me. You are just as terrible as my sister,” Elain said. He could see the blush on her face from his seat. “You did not warn me about chapter 33. You told me it wasn’t that bad.”
Celeste laughed loudly. “It’s not! But if that made you blush, then skip 40. It’s nothing but-”
He instantly knew exactly what they were discussing and immediately blocked them out. His wife’s reading habits was something he decided a long time ago was none of his business. He glanced over and his gaze caught Lucien’s. Apparently he was doing the same thing, from the look he shared. Eris bit back his laugh and focused on what his other brothers were saying. It wasn’t long before a knock came to the door, stifling the conversations in the room.
Rowen, the captain of the guard, poked his head in. “Lord Helion is here. Shall I escort him in?”
Eris looked at his brothers. Unspoken words were exchanged between them with a look and Eris stood.
“I’ll go.” When he got to the door, he looked at Rowen and nodded to the room. “Go in and visit.”
Rowen looked at him skeptically. He ran a nervous hand through his dark hair. “Are you sure?”
“You’re family, aren’t you?” He patted his friend’s shoulder. “Go meet the baby. You haven’t even seen her yet.”
Eris understood his hesitation. Rowen was a good leader but very reserved. Asher was always the more outgoing one and Rowen gladly let his husband take on those responsibilities. He watched Rowen stare into the room for a moment. He then gave Eris a nod and went through the door. He took a shortcut to the main hall and found Helion waiting near the front entrance.
“Afternoon Helion.” His greeting was short. Even after all the time that passed, their relationship was still complicated.
“Eris.” Helion gave a little nod. “Apologies for running late. Congratulations. I know your mother is excited to have a new youngling around.”
As if summoned, footsteps echoed in the hall. Eris turned to see his mother and wife walking towards them, his wife holding their daughter.
“You look well.” Helion said to Celeste as they approached.
Celeste scoffed. “Don’t flatter me, Helion. Lucien’s already told me I look worse for wear.”
He frowned. “Did he?”
Eris replied with a little pride, “she handled it.”
Helion cut his eyes to Eris’s mother, who nodded. He looked back to Celeste. “You look like you have a new babe keeping you up at night, but that’s expected. All that considered, you do look well.”
“Eris helps.” Celeste readjusted the baby resting in her arms. “Would you like to hold her? Her name is Andrea.”
Helion nodded and Celeste handed her over to him. He grinned as he took her, part of the blanket falling to the side as she squirmed in his hands. She seemed more awake, her legs shuffling under the white gown they’d dressed her in. Helion cooed a greeting to her and Eris could see her yawn.
“Isn’t she beautiful?” His mother sighed and leaned onto Helion’s arm.
Watching them awe over his child made Eris wonder if somehow, in another life, that would have been how they looked at their own babe. Would that have been how they looked at Lucien? How they would have looked at him? He must have let his emotions show. Celeste slipped her arm around his and took his hand. She weaved her fingers around his own and she squeezed gently. With a blink, he squeezed back.
The moment didn’t last for long, however. Eris knew instantly by the quick little movements his daughter was making that she was about to start screaming. As if on cue, her face scrunched up. Celeste moved first, holding out her arms as Andrea let out a little cry. Helion thankfully wasn’t offended, letting out a soft chuckle.
“And she’s hungry,” Celeste quickly took the wailing babe. She held her close and looked at Eris.  “I’m going to feed her and drag out Elain. I left her alone talking with my mother and she was trying to needle out of Elain her cinnamon bread recipe,” she added, making a face.
“I’ll go with you.” His mother told Celeste and stood on her toes to kiss Helion on the cheek.
Eris caught her gaze for a brief moment. He knew she was leaving them alone on purpose. He didn’t hide annoyance on his face. His mother flashed her eyes in a way that told him to behave. Eris crossed his arms. He and Helion turned to watch them retreat for a moment. Eris could taste the awkward silence hanging between them.
Helion finally turned to Eris. “You know you’re welcome at my court, Eris.” Eris could only nod. “I do mean that. Next time Celeste visits, you should join her. I know your mother wants to see more of you. Especially with the baby-“
“I am aware.” Eris finally snapped back. He said it more harsher than he intended to. Helion frowned and Eris continued. “What I mean is, when Andrea is old enough to handle winnowing, I will send notice.”
That softened the Day High Lord’s demeanor. “There is a lot of bad blood between us. I’m not asking for a miracle; I’m merely asking to start making amends. We are family.”
Eris nodded again. He knew he needed to try harder. It had been over a century. He was at least trying. Even if it pained him.
Helion didn’t let the silence lapse for long. “I spoke with your mother and we both agreed there will be Pegasus waiting for her when she’s old enough.”
“That’s hardly necessary,” Eris replied, taken aback.
Helion shrugged, wearing a smirk eerily similar to Lucien’s. “So was giving us two smoke hounds as a mating present.”
Eris rolled his eyes. “Again, hardly. Aspen and Jora missed my mother dearly.”
Helion didn’t seem to buy it but also didn’t further argue. “Shall we?” He asked, looking toward the hall.
“Of course,” Eris nodded.
He told himself one day he would be used to the family he made and acquired, just like he had gotten used to the peace. For the time being, he would try to enjoy it for what it was and accept the happiness the cauldron and Mother granted him.

Contrary to popular belief, Eris Vanserra did have feelings. He has a heart and as much as he loathes to admit it, he does fall guilty to being influenced by its whims. Whether that’s a good or bad thing remains to be seen; however, as now his heart is quite literally compelling him to follow his stupid mate into a metaphorical lion’s den. ‘Family Dinner at the Night Court.’ What the fuck.
Initially just expecting to get a front row seat to Azriel’s family drama, Eris Vanserra finds himself disappointed yet ultimately not surprised when the arrival of Lucien at the Night Court family dinner forces his own problems to be served up as part of the main course.

"You're saying you love me?" Luciens voice was hoarse, breaking under the weight of the words and their meaning.
"I am, but you..." Elain started, the drum of her heart pounding in her ears at her confession and its anxieties.
"There is no but" His interruption was resolved. He straightened his shoulders as he fixed his gaze upon her. "I won't let what happened between my parents happen to us."
With a firm smile, he took her hands between his.
"I am yours, entirely. There will be no mistaking that."

ok i dont have much but if u wanna do archeron v. vanserra centuries long feud w/o u know the real world stuff, i'm thinking holes (starring shia labeouf) vibes? that's it that's all i got-- but wild west sort of vibes, stealing money, betraying a lover and igniting a centuries long quest to bury said money? idk if this makes sense LMAO
OH MY GOD ANON.
You're so smart and beautiful and brilliant. Feuding over money/treasure is actually a really great idea and I can't believe I didn't think about it.

A Family of Our Own
Lucien was settled on his stomach, arms folded underneath his head to serve as a pillow. Elain had straddled his back, her fingers combing through his hair as she hummed quietly to herself. It had been a peaceful day, the two spending quality time exploring all Velaris had to offer.
Lucien watched her out of the corner of his eye before facing forward and closing his eyes. He thought back to all the sights they had seen as they explored and one particular image had stayed rooted in his brain.
“What are you thinking about?” Elain asked as she started braiding his hair. “You’re a bit tense, Lu.”
He tried to relax his body as he prepared himself to explain. “I was thinking about when I first came to Velaris.” he said quietly.
“What about it?” she asked, her fingers pausing.
“One of the first things I noticed were children laughing.” he continued. “It had been a long time since I’d heard that sound.”
“It was that bad?” she whispered, as she tied off the end of his braid and tugged gently to indicate she was done.
“Very.” he answered softly. “Watching those little children run around the Sidra today…it reminded me of that moment.”
He felt her slide off him and Lucien turned his head to face her. Elain slid her body next to his, pressing against him and her gaze locked with his, full of worry.
“What’s wrong?” she asked quietly. Lucien turned on his side, one arm still underneath his head, the other now wrapped around Elain’s waist. He was hesitating. He knew he shouldn’t be but Lucien couldn't help it. His eyes flickered to hers and then rested on her bare shoulder.
“You do…want children, right?”
“Of course.” she answered immediately. “Don’t…don’t you?”
“I do.” he replied then swallowed. “I’m just worried.”
Elain braced herself on her elbows, brows furrowed as she watched him. “What are you worried about?”
Lucien focused on where his arm was resting. Focused on the sleeping gown she was wearing. He couldn’t quite meet her gaze.
“Talk to me, Lucien.” she said gently.
“I’m worried…about whether I’d be a good father or not.” he replied quietly. “You know what my family was like…how they are. I don’t know if any of that will seep into the way I raise them.”
Elain’s expression softened and she settled back down next to him. “Why would you think of it that way? You’re not like them. You’d never be like them, much less treat others the way they treated you.”
His mouth formed a thin line and he met her gaze for a fleeting moment then looked away again, focusing on her shoulder.
“…I think I want to have children because I know what it’s like to have no one.  I want a big family, one where they all feel loved and cared for and happy. Where they’ll always have each other.” he began and she gave him a small smile.
“That sounds like what I want too.”
He forced a small smile of his own then his expression fell again. “But then I get worried. What if they start hating each other? What if they get pitted against each other and turn into what my brothers are? What if all they do is fight? We were a big family but definitely not loving.” he continued and then met her gaze. “I don’t know if I could live with that.”
“Oh, Lu.” she said softly and leaned in to place a chaste kiss on his lips. “Our children would never be like that…we wouldn’t raise them to be that way. You may have grown up in a family that didn’t treat you the way a family should be treated but you are nothing like them nor will you ever be.” she stated and brought a hand up to tilt his face towards her so Lucien would meet her gaze. “You’re caring, dependable, thoughtful, and you have so much love that you want to share. You are so full of love and I am thankful to have you. Thankful that you love me because I didn’t know it could feel like this until you.”
Lucien looked at his wife and swallowed hard when Elain gave him a soft smile. He blinked rapidly before burying his head in the crook of her neck and she hugged him tightly against her.
“The circumstances you grew up in don’t get to dictate your life or our future together. We get to decide how to raise our family and we are going to raise them to be the most wonderful, lovely children to ever grace this life. You’ll see.” she said calmly, tugging on his braid. “I have no doubt in my mind that you will be an excellent father.”
He sighed pulling back to gently kiss her lips, his hand coming up to tug gently on a strand of her hair. “You really think so?”
“Of course I do.” she confirmed with a smile. “You should too. You’re already a great husband. Snarky and very annoying but still good.”
He chuckled, his hand now running through Elain’s hair. “I’ll probably be an annoying father as well then.”
“Definitely. Our children will think we’re simply the worst because we’ll be the type of parents who embarrass them by loving them too much in front of their friends.”
“I want to be as embarrassing as possible.” Lucien confirmed with a nod and Elain laughed.
“I shall assist.”
“You’re too adorable to be embarrassing, dove.”
“Well, I’ll be cheering you on while you’re being embarrassing so I think it’ll even out.” She said with a nod and he laughed then kissed her again.
“How many kids do you want to have?” he asked her quietly and her face lit up.
“Six. Or eight. Or ten.”
“Ten?”
“You do call me bunny.” she said with a giggle and he rolled his eyes. “Bunnies are known for their breeding.”
Lucien snorted. “You do know pregnancies with fae aren’t as easy as it is with humans, right?”
Elain shrugged. “Your mother had many so I’m sure you’re fertile enough.” she said with a wink and Lucien rolled his eyes. “Besides, we’ll have fun trying until we get there.”
“That we will.” he said with a grin. “Which do you want first? A male or female?”
“Either. Both. I don’t care as long as we have many of them.” she replied. “I already have the first two names picked out if you would be so kind as to agree to them.”
He quirked a brow. “Let me guess, it has something to do with flowers?”
Elain flushed but smiled as she traced a finger over his collarbones. “Would you mind?”
“Never.” he said, kissing her forehead with a smile. “Tell me.”
“Rose for our first daughter and Ren for our first son.”
The words daughter and son rang through Lucien’s head as watched Elain discuss excitedly. She would be there through it all and there was no doubt in his mind of how lovely a mother she would be. They would have the rowdiest children, filled with love and light and all the good they could offer them.
Lucien would make sure of it.

Lucien Week, Day Five :: Family.
From the family he left behind in Autumn, to his friends in the Spring and Night Court, and the human's he's chosen to live with (and the father he may or may not know about in Day), Lucien's blood and chosen family are scattered throughout Prythian. @lucienweekofficial

Lucien left after four hours, fearful he may already be too late, though he couldn't exactly leave earlier, not after Helion had announced him his son, his Heir. But after four hours, the excitement died down enough that Lucien winnowed out and to the Border of Summer Court and Autumn Court.
Finding a squirrel, he sighed in relief. Crouching down, making sure none of his body tipped into the Autumn Court at all, he spoke to the squirrel, knowing them to be far more than just ordinary squirrels found amongst other courts.
"My name is Lucien Vanserra, seventh and youngest son of the High Lord Beron. I need you to go get Eris Vanserra, first and oldest son of the High Lord Beron. Quickly though, as fast as you can. Have him meet me here." Lucien spoke, praying to the Mother and Cauldron both that the news had not reached the Autumn Court yet, as invoking his title he had since birth would not work with the woodland creatures, and they would not take orders from anyone but the High Lords family.
The squirrel, on its hind legs, tilted its head, looking at Lucien, before running off East. He hoped that was a good sign, and the squirrel kept East. All he could do was wait.
One of the benefits from being emissary for Tamlin was that he could be in any court, almost any court, he corrected as he looked towards the colourful trees. The benefit of being emissary for Tamlin was that he could now be in most of the courts without raising alarms, as he had made friendships and business relationships in them all. So he had no concerns standing in the Summer Court as he waited.
After half an hour, Eris arrived, confusion on his face. If his reason for being here were not so dire, he would tease his eldest brother for finally having information Eris did not. But now was not the time. He was here for an important reason, bordering on, if not already, an emergency.
Before Eris could ask his brother why he insisted on meeting, and so dangerously close to the Autumn Court where one wrong, frantic step, and their other brothers would not hesitate to take him to the Forrest House, Lucien spoke.
Lucien spoke, informing Eris that he had to get their mother out, and she had to leave today, within the hour, preferably. Lucien stood there, watching his eyebrows raise, even more confusion on his face, as he explained how he had plans in motion to make it happen, but he needed at the very least three more days to succeed barely, the whole week to succeed perfectly.
Lucien shook his head before explaining. "My f-" Lucien stopped himself. It didn't feel right yet. The timing did not feel right. Starting again, Lucien explained that Helion was growing rather annoyed with all the rumours and had told an entire courtyard of people in the Day Court about who he was.
"I was lucky to make it here in time before the news got here. Before the woodland creatures got the news, otherwise I would not have got the squirrel to get a message to you." Lucien finished explaining.
A glance towards his brother, he could see the restrained anger. Anger that he had to throw a months worth of planning out the window and come up with something on the spot. Pacing, Lucien saw his brother thinking before he stopped.
Eris then explained how he would bring his mother out for a walk to visit his hounds about twice a week. He could bring her out, go behind the shed, and winnow her to Lucien in the Day Court.
Lucien shook his head. "The Day Court is the first place father will look. Followed by the Night Court." Lucien explained. Now his turn to think. It took less than a minute when the idea hit him. He turned to his brother, telling him to bring their mother to Jurian and Vassa, and explain the situation. He knew his friends would not turn his mother away. "He won't look for her in the Human Lands."
And with that, Lucien and Eris bid farewell, and Lucien watched as his eldest brother winnowed away. Waiting no more than five minutes, Lucien winnowed to the Night Court to let Rhysand and Feyre know to expect a visit from his father, or at least one of his father's officials. And to expect his father to place spies around in case his mother were to show up.
It had been a month since Lucien had been announced son of Day, and had seen Eris. When he had finally returned from the Night Court after his meeting with his brother, Helion, annoyed, yet concerned, demanded to know where Lucien had been and why he just left.
After Lucien had finally told Helion that Eris knew who he was, and had for a few weeks, and had been working on a plan to get their mother out of the Autumn Court so she would be safe when the news inevitably came out, Lucien noticed the immediate regret on Helions face.
Lucien quickly reassured the male, though, letting him know that he and Eris had come up with a last-minute plan, and his mother was free and safe. That she was in a place Beron would not look to find her. He did not include, though, that he had no way of knowing if his mother actually did make it to his human friends house safely or not.
He kept telling himself that Eris was great at these sorts of things. If anyone could manage to get their mother out safely, it was him. Their mother was safe. Living with humans, yes. But she was safe.
But it had been a month, a whole month with nothing having happened yet. He was growing concerned. When his fath- When Beron kept quiet after things so large as this, it was usually never good. Why hadn't he done anything yet.
If Lucien were Beron, he would have taken this as an act of war. Would have seen this as Helion stealing his son, holding him captive, against his will. Despite Lucien being Berons' least favourite, he would have used this to finally have the war against Helion he's been wanting for centuries. So why hasn't his father made a move?
"No one's come to see my sister or Rhysand." Lucien heard from behind him. Turning around, Lucien made his way towards his friend and hugged her. To hell with the bond and the glowing charged reaction it gave to the hug. To hell with her hesitation to the bond even. Lucien hadn't seen anyone in a month and had been alone with his thoughts, his worries. He was too afraid to go anywhere, too afraid to step outside even, in case he was followed.
"Lucien," Elain said, his name almost a plea from her lips. Concern in her tone. And shockingly, she hugged him back. The bond was charged, and it glowed bright, and fluttered and swirled, flew around in his chest. It was the most alive it had ever been.
He was ignoring it all, though, and it seemed as though Elain was too. Lucien couldn't care less about their bond right now or what it was wanting. Right now, he was soaking up as much comfort as he could. All the fear from the last month had crashed down in him the second he heard her voice.
Suddenly, his head was lifted up, and he was looking at his mate, his friends face, looking her in her brown fawn eyes as she told him that none of his fathers men had been by to see them.
"But Eris' men have."
That sentence caught Lucien off guard, and he pulled back from the embrace fully to get a good look at Elain, trying to figure out what she meant.
"Don't you remember? I told you the day you came over that everything would be alright, even if it didn't seem like it?" Elain asked, though Lucien truly did not remember.
It was then that Helion walked in with a piece of paper in his hand that bore the sigil of the Autumn Court. He greeted Elain, as though it was perfectly normal to see her with Lucien, alone in his room, before he turned to Lucien, telling him that it seemed their reasons to worry has come to an end.
His confusion must have been written on his face, as Helion then handed the letter over for Lucien to read.
To the High Lords, and Lady, of Prythian.
Allow me to start this letter out by stating that the former High Lord Beron is unfortunately no longer with us. He has indeed died.
Next, the latest rumour you have heard of my youngest brother Lucien is true. He was not my father's son. But this fact does not strip him of the fire of the Autumn Court pulsing through his veins. My mother is still his mother. I am still his brother.
Lucien has both the fire of the Autumn Court, as well as the light of the Day Court running through his veins, and with him, the fued between our courts can come to an end.
My father died, out of defence for my mother. I tried to get her to safety but did not get to in time. I was forced to kill my father to protect my mother. After he died, I felt the High Lords magic pass on to me.
I am the new High Lord of the Autumn Court. I will not run this court as my father did. I aim to rebuild the relationships amongst my court and yours. Please accept the gift given, alongside this letter, as an apology for all the hardships my father has given over his years as High Lord.
I look forward to working alongside each of you.
Eris Vanserra.
Lucien finished reading the letter and looked towards Elain and the Helion. Who would read this, and how much of Prythian would see this news confirmed had they not already heard it by word of mouth?
"These letters only go out to the High Lords of Prythian. So only the seven - the eight of us have seen it, and after the two of you, that makes ten. It will remain that way." Helion answered Luciens questions as though he could see them written on his face.
Lucien then found himself looking towards Elain while whispering to himself, not wanting to believe it, as it didn't feel true yet. "He's really gone."
Elain simply nodded. With a small smile, she repeated her words from before. "Everything will be alright, even if it doesn't seem like it."
Elain then took Lucien by the arm, leading him out of his room, towards the main door. Her insistence and rush to get there was confusing him, but when they got to the door, Elain opened it, just in time to see his brother standing on the other end, hand raised as if he were about to knock.
Lucien couldn't help the smirk at the look of shock on his brothers face, clearly not used to Elain just knowing things. But to be fair, Lucien still wasn't fully used to it either.
The smirk didn't last long, though, because behind Eris was a female. A female Lucien had not seen since his time under the mountain. A female he had not spoken to in even longer. A female he would instantly recognize no matter how long it had been.
Elain, having let go of Luciens' arm for this reason, and Eris having stepped out of the way, Lucien stepped towards the female, almost in a daze.
Lucien hadn't heard Helion enter the room or the reaction the male had upon the scene in front of him. His whole focus was on the female standing in front of him. Even the bond, which was begging for the physical contact again, was not strong enough to tear Luciens' attention away from the female.
It wasn't until the female lifted her hand up to Luciens' cheek that he realized he had started crying. She rubbed tears out of the way before pulling Lucien into a hug.
After many, many, many years of being forced apart, forbidden to speak to each other under the mountain, a mother and her son were finally reunited.

“You can stay.” The words were so soft, hardly louder than an exhaled breath, that Lucien wasn't sure she had even spoken. But she had. “What?” He asked, hardly daring to breathe. “You can stay.” Elain repeated, watching him from the doorway, hands wrapped around its frame, as though to steady herself. “Of course, its up to Feyre and Rhys.” she added with a faint blush. “But… you needn't leave on my behalf.” Lucien swallowed, hand still on the doorknob, the small backpack he had first arrived with slung over one shoulder. “Are you… are you sure?” he asked finally, hardly daring to believe it. “I- i wouldn't want to impose. To- to make you uncomfortable. I never mean to make you uncomfortable.” Elain offered him a small, tentative smile. “I know.” she said quietly. “I was planning to go out shopping. For some new clothes. Next Friday. I could use an escort.” A shy smile. “If you chose to stay, that is.” She dipped her head to him once, then turned, and disappeared up the stairs. Lucien stayed standing, one hand on the door, staring after her. He wasn't even sure if he was still breathing.

Taking into account that we have two more books (acotar 5 and acotar6). What plot do you think each will be focused on? couple + romance + background plot
uff, that’s a good question. thanks for asking me! I once made a post about my ideas actually (romantically). but generally, I’m on board with most of my mutuals here, I think.
actotar 5:
couple & romance: gwynriel, most likely. everything in acosf is basically leading up to gwyn and azriel falling for each other. now that cc3 is coming next and bryce is going to be spending some time in prythian in the book, I believe sjm will use it to set up the story for actoar 5 even more. the ic may need help of the priestesses, and gwyn having researched a lot for merrill, is going to be included a lot because of her friendship with nesta. she’s also likely the most comfortable out of the library, so that makes her likely to join the ic in dealing with bryce and helping her out (I think, okay, these are all just ideas). I also want gwyn to detect the bond first.
background plot: I really have no thoughts on this. they might be dealing with whatever consequences bryce’s stay had in prythian. maybe another issue gets introduces. who knows. maybe stuff with eris happening? tamlin too? the valkyries ride pegasi. mor helps out? we meet azriel’s mother?
acotar 6:
couple & romance: my sunshines, my babies, my loves, elucien. including a mating ceremony. elain gets the hell out of the night court. visits the summer court, winter (PLEAAAAAASE), spring most definitely, and day ☀️. lucien and elain get to know each other and fall for each other. lucien shows her the world, or as much of it as he can, to be fair.
background plot: lucien discovers helion is his father. autumn court drama. the lady of autumn gets out. beron dies. eris becomes high lord. tamlin finally gets his shit together. lucien and elain move to the day court and stay there. koschei fucks shit up. maybe bryaxis is being used again and cassian has a final encounter with him before he gets killed or released into another world (lucien discovering the depth of his powers? don’t ask me how this is supposed to work though). lady of autumn and helion are mates. nessian are still happy and thriving. nobody dies (least of all helion fucking spell cleaver) and all is good in the world.

she had a purpose, and joy, and friends: those two half-wraiths who worked in Rhysand’s household. But those things had always come easily to her sister. Had always made Elain special.
I just know that Elain will be acting all sweet and innocent with the BOE (while ignoring Lucien), but instead of letting themselves get fooled and coddling her, they don’t buy that act and rather drive her nuts until she snaps and yells a big old “FUCK YOU” at them.
one second of silence passes and just before Elain is about to apologize they encourage her to let it all out and not stop and Elain is too stunned to speak.
We all just know that Lucien, Vassa, and Jurian won’t be easy on her. Eris too, I think he’ll be the worst and I love it.

Chapter 5: Le Plat Principale
Before Eris has a chance to further assess the situation or finish analyzing his chances of being stabbed in any theoretical crossfire that may or may not about to take place, the High Lady of the Night Court decides to open her mouth and fuck everything up.
“I’m bored. Azriel, let’s change seats,” Feyre declares, silencing the room, the only sound being the slight clink of the High Lady's cutlery as she places it back down on the table.
Eris blinks. Did she say Azriel? He blinks again.

Did Lucien try to use his healing abilities on Jesminda at the chance the something, anything could be done? Did he use his fire powers to burn her body when he realized he couldn’t save the one he loved? Does he live, wondering if he’ll ever have to do the same again?

I think a good way for Feyre and Lucien to start mending their broken friendship in the next book would be for Feyre to spend time with Lucien, one on one, teaching him how to build and strengthen his mental shield in preparation for Koschei.
