During this year's Fringe festival, I attended an immersive and interactive event that allowed its adult participants to engage in "kindergarten" activities. My chosen activities for the day were drawing and using Play-Doh. For the former, I doodled an homage to how I used to draw when I was very young, with the two eras of my life side by side. For the latter, I just had to bring my good boy Softboy to life.
Remember: playing and creating things that make you happy are important at any age.

Edinburgh Fringe Interview: Charlotte Anne-Tilley - Almost Adult
A boisterous coming-of-age comedy and brave confrontation of workplace sexual harassment, Almost Adult is inspired by Charlotte Anne-Tilley’s own experience as a young woman taking on The Big City, following an appalling experience at a large immersive entertainment company in London. This big-hearted and honest play gives voice to the thousands of women who have been silenced or challenged when…

I'm at the Edinburgh Festival / Fringe (I'm local) and just came out of a moving, quite depressing show using King Lear's dialogue to talk about homelessness.
I immediately hear someone touting their show as a 'queer pirate romcom' and do I want a flyer.
Yes yes I do
But they'd better not breakup at the end I swear I will go insane

It’s The Way I Tell ‘Em (34)
The best jokes from #EdinburghFring2023 allegedly
The best jokes from the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, allegedly. I started dating a zookeeper – but it turned out he was a cheetah. (Lorna Rose Treen); The most British thing I’ve ever heard? A lady who said, “Well I’m sorry, but I don’t apologise”. (Liz Guterbock); Last year I had a great joke about inflation. But it’s hardly worth it now. (Amos Gill); When women gossip we get called bitchy; but…

My FAVOURITE show of the Fringe 2023! Broadway Diva @EdFringe @AssemblyFest #FringeEdin #WhatsonEdi #Edinburgh #Theatre #FringeReview #Music #OliviaRuggiero
Broadway Diva Review by Kelly Lacey I recently had the pleasure of attending the Broadway Diva performance with my dear friend Joanne from Portobello Book Blog. As soon as the show started, I was instantly drawn into the magic of Broadway as Olivia Ruggiero began to sing. The diverse range of songs included both familiar favourites and hidden gems that were completely new to me. What made the…

Laughing through the pain: Edinburgh comics relive true-life traumas What’s the funniest thing on the festival fringe? No, not politics, but painful introspectionNominations for the prestigious Edinburgh comedy award, to be announced on Wednesday, are likely to include a few standup routines that sound about as funny as an electricity bill. Fringe performers who deal with parental cruelty, online sex-shaming, serious addiction, mental illness and a coercive cult could all be in the running.Early tips suggest that among the contenders may be Ana Magliano, with a show about her hidden bisexuality, André de Frietas, a Portuguese comic who describes his descent into prostitution, Moses Storm, who chronicles his childhood inside a cult, and fellow American Avital Ash, with an act that “workshops her suicide note”. My five star picks of the Edinburgh Fringe after week one.
I’ve only seen 38 shows out of the 3,750 or so that are available, but I’ve very carefully curated my festival So here are my personal, all five star, picks. (In order of my own view of brilliantness) Funeral by Ontroerend Goed at Zoo Southside. A sublime experience like no other and incomparable. Here’s what Time out said about it. I’m sure I write a variation on this same introduction pretty…

Jesse explaining that although all three boys generally experienced the same physical abuse, Roman has internalized his experience as a victim in a different way than Kendall and Connor.
“I would suggest Logan would have cuffed and hit all the boys at different times in their lives.  I think the difference for Roman maybe is that he feels like he was bullied in the domestic environment and so we can all react to things in different ways. I think Connor and Kendall probably have experienced that and have managed to accommodate it without it being a big part of their psychology whereas I think Roman being that beaten dog and being - there’s often a dynamic isn’t there with bullied people as sort of needing the feeling of negative attention that you get from that and I think he’s become, not addicted to it, but related to it.”

Darren Criss and Cat Cohen Will Lend Voices to GWYNETH GOES SKIING in Edinburgh and Utah
Gwyneth Goes Skiing is headed to Edinburgh Fringe this August, and will also make its international premiere in Utah.
Darren Criss will provide the singing voice of Terry Sanderson alongisde Edinburgh Comedy Award Winning comedian, actress and singer Cat Cohen, who will lend her voice  as Gwyneth Paltrow on the vocal track with hits including I Wish You Well and See You In Court.
Darren Criss is best known for playing the role of Blaine Anderson in Glee (alongside the real  Gwyneth Paltrow!). In 2018, he was awarded Emmy and Golden Globe acting awards for his  leading role in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Criss has also starred  on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Hedwig and the Angry  Inch.
Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner Cat Cohen’s live comedy performances combine stand-up  comedy with cabaret-style songs. The comedian, actress, and singer’s first Netflix comedy  special, The Twist...? She's Gorgeous, was released in 2022. As an actress, she has appeared on  comedy series such as High Maintenance, Broad City, Search Party, and What We Do in the  Shadows.
Criss and Cohen digitally join Trixie Mattel who makes a special on-screen appearance as  Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother, Blythe Danner. They are seen alongside the original Gwyneth Goes  Skiing cast - Linus Karp as the Goop-founding, Door-Sliding, Shakespeare-In-Loving, consciously uncoupling Hollywood superstar Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Martin as her nemesis, Terry  Sanderson, a retired Optometrist from Utah.
The world debut of Darren and Cat’s voices will be back where it all began, Park City, Utah. The  now-infamous location of Terry Sanderson and Gwyneth Paltrow’s collision in 2016 will play  host to the US transfer of Awkward Productions and Pleasance Theatre’s runaway hit. Gwyneth  Goes Skiing’s transfer to The Egyptian Theatre marks the first international transfer for Awkward  Productions’ work.
Gwyneth Goes Skiing, which is a co-production between Awkward Productions  and the Pleasance Theatre, returns to the slopes after two sold-out and critically-acclaimed runs  in London. This silly play-with-music marks Awkward Productions’ return to the Fringe  after Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story had a sold-out run in 2023.
Gwyneth Goes Skiing recounts the collision in 2016 on the slopes of Deer Valley and the court  case seven years later that enthralled the world. This very silly story of justice, betrayal and  optometry makes the audience the jury, asking them to decide who's guilty and who's gooped.  Gwyneth Goes Skiing features a whole lot of fiction, a sprinkling of verbatim lines from court  transcripts and delightfully catchy original music by Leland (RuPaul’s Drag Race; Cher’s  Christmas; Troye Sivan’s Something To Give Each Other).
Performance Information The Egyptian Theatre, Utah  Thursday 16th – Sunday 26th May 2024  328 Main Street, Park City, Utah 84060 https://parkcityshows.com

Edinburgh Fringe Interview: Kristin Winters - Lovefool
The charming and unapologetically funny one-woman show Lovefool is an honest depiction of the shameful, awkward, and painful events in our lives. This deeply personal play by Gintare Parulyte champions life’s endless pursuit of healing, regardless of how heart-breaking or embarrassing it can be. The brutally vulnerable and hilarious show navigates the impossibly confusing dynamics of modern…

Coco Khan: When the rumors started to surface just before the weekend that Channel 4 were going to broadcast a potentially career-ending expose...did you know who it would be?
Nish Kumar: Yes, this is a well known open secret from the comedy circuit. It's been something that's been talked about certainly to my knowledge for at least the last five years. It's something that's been pretty openly discussed in the comedy industry. I think I remember first hearing about it in mid-2017. Subsequent to Dispatches and the Sunday Time expose, Deadline ran a story about an incident that happened on a TV show called Roast Battle where jokes were made referencing Brand being an abuser and they were removed from the broadcast... from that point onwards it was common knowledge...It was discussed by multiple comedians in Edinburgh Fringe shows the following year, in 2018. It was that well known.
Coco: But when you say it was well known like what was well known?
Nish: to be completely honest with you the story that I had heard was relating to a sexual assault it was not covered in the documentary, so it was a very specific and serious allegation. I was not aware of any of the stories in the documentary. I was surprised watching it how far back this had gone.
I think this is a real moment for everybody to consider how this was allowed to happen and how this was allowed to go on for so long.... I think if you look at Russell Brand's IMDB page you see that his television work in Britain starts to dry up around 2018, 2019 and that's simply because increasingly people were just not willing to work with him. Everyone was afraid to talk about it because of the threat of lawsuits... Watching it as a cisgender heterosexual male comedian you feel a certain sense of guilt and a certain sense of complicity because you've been working with production companies and producers who are providing an infrastructure that allows predators to thrive.
There are still people working in comedy who are the subject of open secrets...there are still people working in comedy who people will say 'oh we don't send young women into their dressing rooms'. Now at that stage for me you should be sacked... if you can't have someone be around young women they have no place in any kind of workplace.
