You screamed when you came again, the noise drowned out by the loud bang outside. Your head turned to the side, like looking at him would be too much. 𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You’re Naven’s teaching assistant.  Being a teacher is DIFFICULT if you have no training, so he’s relieved when you, a student teacher, volunteer to team-teach interpersonal communications with him.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 He may be your mentor, but honestly there’s a mutual benefit to your dynamic.  He shows you the ropes of a work day, and you ease his anxieties about teaching his preferred subject.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 There’s an image in my head of you showing Naven lesson plans and he just pales.

“...W-What’s a unit of learning, may I ask?  Hm…  Is there a real difference between key concepts and key skills?”

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 All these terms are so new to him.  Honestly for a hot second it’s more like you’re mentoring him.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Naven may seem like a doormat to strangers, but he always knows just what to say and do.  If you’re anxious, he senses it, and he talks you through whatever it is that’s stressing you out.  He’s a real comforting presence.  It’s like you can talk to him about anything.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 When you become more comfortable talking about personal lives, Naven is just full of whimsy and enthusiasm for certain topics!  He loves babbling about different teas, what books he read recently, where he and his wife went for dinner last weekend… Honestly, doing something unexpected as he rambles is the only time you can ever catch him off guard.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 That’s another thing.  He has eyes on the back of his head, you swear it.  You’re doing any kind of slacking off and he peers over at you with squinted eyes and a furrowed brow.  How can one side-eye with unopened eyes?  No idea, but he has perfected it.

“...You better not be checking your socials during work hours.  How do I know?  Hm, I’m just psychic!” He jokes with a giggle.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 When you’re in an office together, sometimes one of Naven’s new chauffeurs will swing by, speedwalking to his desk and lightheartedly lecturing him on how he forgot his lunch.  It’s rather amusing to watch.  Sometimes she’ll talk with you, but you know she’s just here for Naven from how impatient she is waiting for him.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You wonder just how on Earth the guy can have so many chauffeurs in such a short time span…

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Naven is the king of silly little office games.  There’s this thing called ‘mugging’ someone, where you’ll leave a mug full of treats and nice things with a note saying they got ‘mugged’ and they’re now in charge of mugging someone else.  And to tell you Naven LOOOVESSS doing things like this.  He’s so cheesy, but he likes livening up the workplace you’re in with him.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Sometimes he’ll take you to STEM because a guy could always need an extra pair of hands!  He does warn you that his colleagues could be a little, ehhh, eccentric, but nothing his protegé can’t handle!!

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 You’re well taken care of in STEM, Naven makes sure of it!!!

“If you need me, do tell me!” Naven reminds you once more as you board the lift up to his office.  “I won’t know otherwise.  Communication is very important!  People… can sometimes be unprofessional.  It’s happened before, and it can happen again.  I wouldn’t want my favourite student to run into the wrong person!”

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Speaking of, he loves calling you his favourite student he’s as cheesy as a charcuterie board i swearrrrr…

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 If you’re inscribed, then he’s so interested.  He asks tons of questions, curious about what your ability does, how it affects you daily, etc. etc.  He’s so attentive, and it’s almost flattering how much he wishes to get to know you and help you out.

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Once you get close enough, Naven may invite you to work for him at STEM.  He trusts you, and he knows you’re a capable worker!  Plus, he can even provide accommodation if you live too far!

𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 Really, how could you refuse when he looks at you so hopefully?  He knows you can make a difference, and he’ll pave the way for younger people like yourself to make it happen.

Against All Odds

Part 691

McCoy

It was a miserable week.

Everywhere McCoy saw Christine she glared at him until he had to look away. Whispers were all around in the classes they shared, at the pool during practice. Someone had even wondered if she would save McCoy if something happened at the pool again. It had been said quietly as a joke, but he had overheard nonetheless.

They chatted quietly on their PADDs, sending messages back and forth, but it wasn’t the same as talking to each other in person. The rest of their friends seemed to be treading on eggshells as they tried to keep the peace.

It was uncomfortable all around. Scotty did his best to comfort and raise his spirits, but still Christine’s words rattled in the back of his head. She had been acting, but the words were still true.

Everything had been arranged from the palace for McCoy’s security for the trip. Two guards from the palace would accompany him so that Spock could remain at school. The majority of the job shadows were on Saturday, and most of the other students picked were flying out together very early.

McCoy had been picked up by his security team after classes on Friday afternoon. He’d barely had a chance to say goodbye to Scotty and he had been hurried away. The flight to Earth had been lonely and anxious, and his hand fidgeted with his ring the whole time.

He lay in his hotel room, staring at the ceiling, long after he and Scotty had finished chatting. Curfew had kept them from talking longer. McCoy rolled onto his side and rested his hand where Scotty would be. It was one night, and yet he missed his fiancé.

In the morning McCoy was brighter, though he missed Scotty. During the drive to the hospital to meet Dr. Lane he went through the list of questions Christine had asked him to ask.

“Almost there.”

Andre’s voice in the front seat broke McCoy’s thoughts. He nodded, and began trying to pull himself together. He had been selected for an amazing opportunity, even if it was all part of their plan to take down Jocelyn. He had to make a good impression, and not just as the Prince of Georgiares, but as himself, Leonard McCoy, who planned to be a doctor.

He tapped his ring as they pulled up in front of the hospital and again when the car door was opened for him. It was an impressively large structure; much bigger than the hospital in the capital of Georgiares.

Dr. Lane was waiting for him inside.

“Prince Leonard! It’s a pleasure to meet you! I’m Dr. Sally Lane.” The doctor strode forward to meet him, her hand outstretched.

“Dr. Lane,” he said, smiling at her. “Thank you so much for having me. And it’s just Leonard, please.”

His heart beat faster. Even with everything going on with Jocelyn and the fake fight with Christine it was still an amazing opportunity and he meant to get everything out of it he could.

“Of course,” the doctor answered politely.

“This is Andre,” McCoy said, gesturing to the guard at his shoulder.

Dr. Lane shook hands with Andre.

“Well, let’s get started shall we?” Dr. Lane asked.

“Please,” McCoy replied with a genuine smile.

Since it was job shadowing day, a lot of students were missing at band practice. The remaining members tried their best without the others, but their teacher let them leave earlier.

Which gave Scotty the opportunity to pay a visit to town. He still needed to buy a birthday present for his brother, after all.

To walk alone through the forest, still sent a shiver down the Scotsman's spine. Memories of his kidnapping filled his mind, but with a deep breath, he forced them away.

Khan, Sural and the others were locked away. They couldn't hurt Leonard or him again.

As soon as he reached the town, he felt much more relieved and safe though. There were people around him. No one would dare to kidnap him in front of so many others, right?

He thought of Leonard. In the morning, his fiancé had actually looked kinda happy and excited. A part of him was probably looking forward to meeting the doctor and seeing what his future might look like.

Scotty smiled at the thought. He really hoped that Leonard would have a great day.

The Scotsman had just left a store and was walking towards the next one, when suddenly a voice stopped him.

"Mr. Scott? Montgomery Scott?"

He turned around and tried his best to show a polite face. A woman was running at him. Just by her outfit and appearance, Scotty could tell that she was a reporter.

"Aye, that would be me. Hello."

He thought of everything that being with Leonard had taught him. He needed to be calm and friendly. But that was easier said than done. Especially when the woman eyed him from head to toe.

"I'm so glad I get to catch you without the prince. This way we can talk in private about the information."

Scotty narrowed his eyes in confusion, shaking his head only the slightest bit.

"What information?"

A strange tingling went through his body and he already felt the blush rushing to his cheeks. He hated talking to reporters.

"Is it true that Prince Leonard did not only harass a girl from your school, but is abusing you?"

At first Scotty's eyes widened in shock, but they quickly narrowed once again as anger gripped his heart.

"Wha- who would say something like that?"

Well, there were only a few people he could think of. Jocelyn, Pete and his friends.

"Rumors talked about the prince's ribs being injured a few weeks ago. Did you try to defend yourself? Is that how he got hurt? Does he force himself on you too, Mr. Scott?"

The woman stared at him with greedy eyes, waiting for more information.

"I-"

No comments. He wasn't allowed to say anything or else these vultures would twist and turn it around to use it against Leonard.

But... he couldn't just let them believe these lies, could he? It was so very inappropriate of them to say stuff like that.

"All I can say is, that whoever told ye something like that is delusional and crazy and that I won't say more about these lies!"

As fast as he could, the Scotsman turned away and started walking. He had to get away. He had to stop himself from saying anything wrong.

But the reporter didn't give in too easily. She hurried after him.

"It's true, isn't it? You can't talk about it in public, because the royal family is keeping it under lock and key, right? Mr. Scott, please. I can help you. I can-"

Enough was enough.

Scotty stopped and turned around, causing the woman to almost bump into him.

"I don't need help! I'm perfectly fine! My fiancé and I are quite happy, thank you!"

He wanted to leave again, but the next words stopped him.

"Then what about the video!"

"What video?"

Scotty could only watch as the woman worked on her PADD before she turned it around so that the student could see the screen.

He couldn't believe it. It was a video of the school's security cameras showing Leonard and him in the hallway. The night when Leonard had kissed him quite passionately and Scotty had shoved him away playfully.

"How did ye get this?"

His voice was merely a whisper.

"It was sent to me. Anonymously."

Scotty stared at the screen a moment longer, before he glared at the woman.

"This was nothing. My fiancé doesn't abuse me. Neither does he force me into anything. We love each other and whoever sent ye this is just trying to harm us."

Without another word, Scotty walked away and got into the next best cab. He wouldn't listen to any of these lies. And he could only hope that his choice of words had been the right one.

Team Supplemental - The Guardian of The Galaxy

The cosmic team of adventurers known as The Guardians of Galaxy is composed of various heroes from different planets, universes and realities, who have come together for the common purpose of guarding the galaxy from threats too large and dire to be taken on by any singular hero.  

There have been many iterations of the Guardians.  The original heralds from Earth  691, where the time-displaced earthly astronaut, Major Vance Astrovik helped to form a group of disparate alien heroes to take on the threat of The Badoon.  A subsequent battle against Korvac resulted in The guardians being transported to the modern era of Earth 616, where they teamed up with the Avengers to ultimately defat Korvac.  

Some years later, Star-Lord created a new version of the Guardians of The Galaxy in the midst of The Annihilation War where they freed the planet Hala from occupation by the villainous Phalanx.  The team has continued on from there, with a regally shifting membership, battling all manner of cosmic threats, from Thanos the Mad Titan to the dreaded Black Vortex.  

Primary member of the Guardians have included:

Star-Lord

Peter Quill, the son of lord J’Son and heir to the throne of the Spartax Empire.  Peter has eschewed his royal title to fight for justice throughout the cosmos as the legendary Star-Lord.  

Gamora

The adopted daughter of Thanos the Mad Titan who trained her from birth to become the most dangerous assassin in the universe.  Although she betrayed her tyrannical father and ended up a member of The Guardians so to take on the so-called Church of The Universal Truth as vengeance for the churches genocide of her native people, the Zen-Whoberians.

Rocket Raccoon

a genetically and cybernetically enhanced raccoon turned freelance mercenary turned member of the Guardians.  He is considered to have one of the best tactical minds in the galaxy.

Groot

A Flora colossi from Planet X, the capital of the branch worlds.  Root was banished from his world for defending the life of a mammal.  It wondered the cosmos for decades until it found itself in the service of Star-Lord first iteration of the Guardians.  Fostering a close friendship with Rocket Raccoon, Groot has remained a staple member of each successive iteration of the squad.  

Drax the Destroyer

The mind of a human named Arthur Douglass who was transplanted into an artificially developed superbly by the Eternals of Titan.  Draw was originally designed as a weapon to bring down Thanos.  He later ended up a member of the Guardians.

Nebula

A cyborg Luphomoid pirate who claimed to be the daughter of Thanos.  More often than not Nebula has proven a frequent adversary of the Guardians and formed her own version of the team (called The Dark Guardians) to hunt down a resurrected Thanos.  Her role as a member of the Guardians is more prominent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  

Mantis

A former Avenger of Earth who was trained by the Priests of Parma to become the Celestial Madonna.  She possesses near peerless fighting skills as well as an enhanced cosmic awareness.  Mantis was part of Star-Lord’s initial band of Guardians and has served on a number of its subsequent iterations.  

Adam Warlock

Designed by the scientists of The Enclave to be the ‘perfect being,’ the man called Warlock severed alongside the Guardians to defeat his future self, a malevolent being called The Magus who leads the Church of The Universal Truth.

Moondragon

The daughter of Arthur Douglas who cultivated powerful telepathic abilities whist care for by the Eternals of Titan.  She has served as both an Avenger and a Defender and joined The Guardians to bring down Thanos.  

Phyla-Vell

The genetically engineered daughter of the Kree hero Mar-Vell.  She has operated under the monikers of Captain Marvel, Quasar and The Martyr.  She and her lover Moondragon have served on multiple iterations of the Guardians.

Bug

A rengade from the Microverse, Bug was among the first recruits of Star-Lord’s initial band of Guardians tasked with taking on The Phalanx.  Bug went on to serve with the Guardians for subsequent mission yet left the team to help form the Knowhere Corps.

Cosmo

An earthly dog who was sent into space as part of the space program of the former Soviet Union.  Passing through a radiational field, Cosmo was bestowed psychic powers.  He has acted as both the Chief of Security for Knowhere as well as a member of the Guardians.

Major Victory

Vance Astrovik, a time-displaced, older version of the earthly hero known as Justice who heralds from Earth 691.  Possessing telekinetic abilities and quipped with a protective suite that bestowed greatly enhanced physical powers, The Major helped to for his realty’s version of The Guardians.

Yondu

A Centauri who can mentally control the arrows he fires.  Yondu joined the Guardians to garner vengeance on the Badoon after the Empire had slaughtered his native peoples.  The 616 version of Yondo became a pirate and was the captor-come-mentor of young Peter Quill.

Starhawk

Stakar of the House of Ogord was rescued from Earth during the Badoon invasion and brought to the monastery planet known as Vesper.  Through his archeological research, Stakar became bonded with he being known as Aleta Ogord and the two became Starhawk.  Often the two shared the body in unison although at times Starhawk would change from man to woman when Aleta’s consciousness gained greater control.  Together they loaned their terrific powers to Major Victory’s iteration of The Guardians of The Galaxy.

Martinex

A sentient crystalline who heralds from the 691 Universe.  He had been part of a scientific and research colony of his kind stationed on the planet Pluto.  The colony was abandoned hen the Badoon Empire was taking over the Sol Solar System and Martinex volunteered to remain behind to destroy their research so that it would not fall into the Badoon’s hands.  He succeeded in this end and afterward ended up joining Major Victory’s version of The Guardians.  

Nikki

Nicholette ‘Nikki’ Gold, a humanoid modified to live on a colony on the planet Mercury.  Her family were slaughter by the Badoon yet she managed to escape and ended up a member of Major Victory’s iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy.  

Charlie 27

A hulking humanoid from a colony on Jupiter who possesses greatly enhanced strength and durability.  When he discovered that his galaxy had been overrun by The Badoon, Charle agreed to join Major Victory’s and Martinex Guardians.  

Captain Universe

Gabriel Vargas was an American army veteran who found himself possessed by the cosmic Uni-Force, transforming him into Captain Universe.  After traversing the stars, Varga found himself recruited into Star-Lord initial team of Guardians sent to free Hala from The Phalanx.  Vargas gave up his powers to help ensure victory and fell in battle soon thereafter.  

Jack Flag

A one time partner to Captain America on Earth, Jack ended up allied with Star-Lord during a break out on the Negative Zone-stationed penitentiary, Prison 42.  Jack escaped with Star-Lord to Knowhere and the young hero stuck around to act as a member of the then current iteration of The Guardians.  He later returned to earth and was sadly killed during the set of the Secret Empire event.

Angela

An Asgardian warrior princess who came to join The Guardians whist scouring the cosmos in search of her lost love, Sera.  

Cammi

A human adolescent who befriended Drax the Destroyer when he was marooned on Earth.  She later joined him as a member of The Guardians in fighting in the Annihilation War.  She later returned to earth and became embroiled in the gristly goings on of the Avengers Arena event.  

Deathcry

A Shi’ar warrior who briefly served as a adjunct member of the Avengers.  She ended up incarcerated by the Kree Empire and was conscripted to serve in Star-Lord’s initial team of Guardians.  She sadly perished early in the adventure when she attacked Captain Universe for ‘robbing her of a kill’ and the Uni-Force reflexively atomized her.    

Additional members of the Guardians of the Galaxy have included Hercules, Marvel Boy, Agent Venom, Captain Marvel, Doctor Doom, Kitty Pryde, Iron Man, Any Man, The Thing, Kl’rt The Super Skrull, Nova, Quasar, Hulkling, Wiccan, Kid Loki and The Cosmic Ghost Rider.

The Earth 691 version of The Guardians of The Galaxy first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #18 (1968); whereas the 616 iteration of the team first appeared in the pages of Annihilation: Conquest - Starlord #1 (2007).

Wild Animals Found In Tanzania

Did you know that Tanzania has the largest wild animal population density in the world? This means that there are more animals per square mile of land in Tanzania than anywhere else. How interesting is that!

According to Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), the country has 22 National Parks home to more than 430 mammalians, 6,000 insects, 1,112 birds, and 100 snakes species.

So, hop on to this exciting ride as we’ll be sharing some amazing facts of different animals that are found in the beautiful country of Tanzania.

Today we’ll have a look at the Tanzanian’s National Animal and that is none other than the majestic Giraffe. According to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF), there are four distinct species of giraffes and those are the Maasai giraffe (G. tippelskirchi), Northern giraffe (G. camelopardalis), Reticulated giraffe (G. reticulata) and Southern giraffe (G. giraffa). Tanzania is home to the largest population of Maasai giraffes in the world.

Facts About Giraffe

An average giraffe is 20 feet tall, making them the tallest land mammal on earth

Both male and female giraffes have ossified cartilage resembling horns on the top of their heads

They are social animals. They travel in groups of 10 to 12 known as tower

Both male and female giraffes can live to about 25 years in the wild and even longer in captivity. Their mortality rates vary from region to region depending on the density of their natural predators

Their biggest natural predators are lions who are responsible for the mortality of more than 50% of giraffe calves in their first year

They are herbivorous animals and due to their height they eat leaves and buds from trees and shrubs. They can consume approximately 35 kilograms of food a day

Their bodies are covered in spots (patches) which they use as camouflage from their predators

Giraffes’ gestation period is about 15 months. They can carry only one calf at each pregnancy, and they give birth to their calves while standing up

They can run as fast as 35 mph over short distances and about 10 mph over longer distances.
