Learning new Yu-Gi-Oh decks, especially combo decks, can feel a bit silly at times since you have to read like ten new cards and remember what they do do and understand how they lead into each other to get to the end point you want, but when it clicks. Damn.

Started learning Drytron yesterday, now I'm at the point where I don't need the combo sheet anymore, and it feels so good to just effortlessly know what to do and how to extend your stuff.

So...I love playing Yugioh and imagine my surprise when the game launched and my eyes were bombarded with the beauty that is the card “Meteonis Drytron” and their boss monster- “Drytron Meteonis Draconids“. I had never heard of the Drytrons before but came to know them intimately soon enough...

Anywho, against my better judgement I decided to model and then print this beautiful chonk-boy and in doing so created a hellscape in which I was consumed with all art and media regarding this bastard. 2D art it isn’t such a reliable reference point especially when artists can change large or minute details about a piece of work. The tail alone has different numbers of segments between the ritual card, ritual monster card, and concept art alone.

My apologies for the horrible print quality! We had some really cold nights here and a bunch of the prints detached from the bed and ended up causing the nozzle to explode and filled the print head with blobs of filament. We tried salvaging as much as we could but a few parts of the printer were still warped/borked.

Tried to do as much as I could with the information out there (cards, concept art, etc.) and took some artistic liberties when I couldn't find references.

***The stand used to keep the figure upright is, unfortunately, blocking the majesty of how chunky his bottom half is and the tail. But please believe me, he is a good chonk-boy!

Meteonis Drytron

Turns out, fans of the constellation Draco have their own entire archetype they can use. And boy do they have some gorgeous cards at their disposal. This one takes Drytron Meteonis Draconids (a pretty striking and cool card on its own) and turns it into a majestic being descending from space. Which is incredibly fitting, as it's a monster based on the Draconids, a meteor shower that appears to originate in the constellation Draco! Through the sparkly, aurora-like shine, you can actually see what looks like little blue meteors shooting outwards from the pink gaseous form at the top. I will say, it's funny that I thought Meteonis Draconids was positioned above Earth at first, before I realized the planet below seems to have four moons arounds it (unless those are meant to be other planets, but they're all pretty uniform in appearance). Love the color gradient in this, love the resplendent way Meteonis Draconids was drawn, even love all the little space details in this.

hi i came across your blog by chance and your art is phenomenal (i have fat girl friday scheduled lmao) but my most important question is. what deck(s) do you play in master duel

a) this is the most delightful ask i've gotten so far tyvm for the compliments and spreading my fat catgirl propaganda. nota fakename is everything and it makes me very happy to see people on here fall in love with her.

b) i play dragonmaids and HEROs (i was a GX baby) for fun, used to use exodia/synchron/quasar for climbing ladder (70% of wins coming from someone folding before the end of my first turn), am currently experimenting with a despia deck that is more than 50% handtraps by volume as i spite my way through tearlaments meta

Getting caught up with this week's reveals, because we've had a lot these last three nights:

New Drytron support! Helps lock the deck into specifically Machine Ritual Monsters so you can't abuse the Fairy/Herald strategy.

Five new generic monsters, including the first-ever Illusion Xyz! They've all got a little potential, thankfully.

A whole wave of new support for Gimmick Puppets!

The GP cards are all really good, surprisingly! I won't post all of them but they've really managed to capture the aesthetics of the whole archetype in one wave and made them pretty powerful to boot!

We're almost halfway into the set now, and if there's any reveals tonight we're definitely hitting 40 cards.
