Dingolfing 1924: Leistungs-Gutscheine

BMW Glas 3000 V8 Fastback, 1967, by Frua. Originally conceived as a fastback concept based on the Glas V8 coupé, when BMW took over the Dingolfing-based company Pietro Frua added a kidney grill the hope the BMW might want to use his design. However BMW were developing their own large coupé (the E9) and had no interest in Frua's fastback

BMW 3.0 CSL
German automaker has unveiled a special 3.0 CSL model as a tribute to its race cars from the 1970s.
It will be limited to exactly 50 units to mark BMW’s 50th anniversary, the production of all the vehicles will take approximately 3 months and each vehicle will be created in an elaborate manufacturing process at the external location of BMW Group Dingolfing plant in Moosthenning, Lower Bavaria.
The exclusive interior carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) components will be produced by hand at the BMW Group component factory in Munich.
For the paintwork of the new BMW 3.0 CSL, a specific process was conceived, craftsmanship and high-technology was combined to provide each individual part with its characteristic colour design, a team of 30 qualified technicians worked on the vehicles and each model took upto 10 days to complete.
The racing version of the historic BMW 3.0 CSL won the European Touring Car Championship during its inaugural season in 1973 and repeated this title win five more times in succession from 1975 to 1979. The road version of the racing car was developed for homologation purposes and became a widely known symbol for inspiring driving pleasure.
The BMW 3.0 CSL is powered by the most powerful straight six-cylinder engine with direct injection ever used in a BMW model, the engine produces a maximum output power of 206 hp, the powerful drive system was combined with refined suspension technology and its unladen weight was just 1270 kgs.

BMW 1600 GT Convertible (resurrects One-Off)
In 1966, BMW bought Dingolfing-based Glas, a vehicle manufacturer that had launched the Frua-styled 1300 GT in 1964 and the more powerful 1700 GT a year later.By 1967, BMW had already modified the GT, giving it the 105PS (103hp) 1.6-liter engine, rear axle, and seats from the 1600 TI, a kidney grille and round taillights from the BMW 02 Series. The car got re-badged as the BMW 1600 GT and went on to achieve 1,255 sales in just under a year of production, making it one of the rarest Bavarian classics. While the Glas 1300 GT and 1700 GT each had convertible versions, BMW never actually sold a drop-top 1600 GT. However, that doesn’t mean none got built. At the request of BMW USA importer Max Hoffmann, the automaker explored the possibility of building a 1600 GT convertible and a coupe with a larger 2.0-liter engine.
In October 1967, BMW took delivery of a Frua-built convertible body mounted on a strengthened floor assembly. The carmaker painted and assembled the car in Dingolfing and on November 16 the 1600 GT convertible was completed. A second prototype got built shortly after but it was scrapped following an accident during the test drives.
Unfortunately, plans for series production and export to the United States never materialized. The only surviving BMW 1600 GT convertible was handed over to BMW AG’s major shareholder at the time, Herbert Quandt. Licensed for driving on public roads, the car remained in the Quandt family for many years before being sold to other private owners. Ultimately, Munich-based Allianz Centre for Engineering bought the 1600 GT convertible and carried out major restoration work on it for the first time.BMW Group Classic tracked down the car and bought it with the plan of returning it to its original condition at the very place where it first saw the light of day: the Dingolfing plant. After several years of painstaking restoration by BMW apprentices guided by trainers, the silver four-seat convertible with a red top is now back in shape. Packing both original and remanufactured parts, the 1600 GT convertible looks just as it did 51 years ago and is ready to take its place in the BMW Group Classic collection.

1962 Goggomobil TL-250 Transporter Pickup
This model sports an air-cooled, 250-cc, two-cylinder, two-stroke engine located under an access panel flush with the bed and behind the rear wheels. It rolls on four 10-inch wheels, and the rear end is geared down slightly to handle payloads.
In addition to the driver, the truck can hold one passenger who rides on a wafer-thin, flip-down seat. Two sliding doors akin to a UPS delivery truck — German postal workers used Goggo vans as official vehicles — complete the cab, whose floor is covered with wooden slats.
To accommodate the sliding doors, the truck’s roof and walls extend past the rear window nearly half the length of the bed. It’s as though the van body were chopped off just ahead of the rear axle. This styling touch also creates a little extra storage space: Because the entire bed is raised to accommodate the motor, the cab’s floor extends about two feet past the back wall.
Weighing in at a scant 1,300 pounds, the Goggo is about 9 feet long, 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide. It can travel at up to 65 mph and achieves up to 24 mpg. Its wheelbase alone is more than 4 feet shy of a basic 2010 Chevy Silverado regular cab.
Built from 1955 to 1964 by Hans Glas GmbH of Dingolfing, Germany, the Goggo pickup shared platforms with a two-seater coupe, four-seater sedan and a “Transporter” work van, and it originally cost about $1,000. Nearly 300,000 Goggos were built. Of those, about 3,600 were Transporters, mostly vans.

Pictures: BMWs new WEC team completes first test with M Hybrid V8 at Aragon | World Endurance Championship
The team which will field BMW’s entry in next year’s World Endurance Championship has completed its first test run with the M Hybrid V8 LMDh. Six of the team’s works drivers took the wheel of the BMW M Hybrid V8. It is powered by a four-litre twin-turbo engine producing around 640bhp, as defined by the regulations, and a specification 50kW (67bhp) LMDh hybrid drive system. The car was originally shaken down at BMW’s Dingolfing facility in Germany by Nick Yelloly. It then spent several days running at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain. BMW M Team WR drivers Jesse Krohn, Maxime Martin, Sheldon van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor, Dan Harper and Max Hesse shared the BMW M Hybrid V8 in Spain. The car was also entrusted to some of its Junior Team drivers. BMW M Motorsport chief Andreas Roos said the team made “a very good start” to its programme ahead of the new WEC season in Qatar next March. The car has already raced in America’s IMSA series. BMW scored its first win with the it in last weekend’s race at Watkins Glen after the on-the-road winner was penalised for a technical infringement. “The BMW M Hybrid V8 ran smoothly during the first test drives and provided our engineers and the team with the opportunity to gain a wealth of insights right from the start,” Roos continued. “Of course, the experiences we have gathered together with BMW M Team RLL in the IMSA series races have also contributed to this. “At the beginning of the LMDh programme, we deliberately chose to compete exclusively in the IMSA series first and later in the FIA WEC. We are now benefiting from this approach. Although the start was successful, there is still a lot of work to be done on the way to the first races. We are all highly motivated for the work throughout the rest of the year.” Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free Pictures: BMW M Hybrid V8 tests at Aragon BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free World Endurance Championship Browse all World Endurance Championship articles via RaceFans - Independent Motorsport Coverage https://www.racefans.net/
