★ Sometimes, the conversation between Them starts with “Это так?” – “Is it like that?” and ends with simple bonding time in Pieza.  ★ To note a few slang words Василий finds amusing or interesting yet cannot pronounce at all: ‘Judiciosa’ as for ‘Well–behaved’, ‘¡Berraquísimo!’ as ‘Cool!’ and ‘¡Chimba!’ which we could also translate to ‘Cool!’

★ There was a moment when Василий was trying to learn Cumbia, Porro and Salsa. With Salsa, that was different than with others. Porro, being closer to Him by the music in background suits Him. Cumbia? One cannot count how many times He did not understand the basic side steps. ★ Despite the way the music was not known to many of the outside world, after meeting His beloved one, Василий caught Himself humming and playing the rhythm over and over again.

★ First time hearing “Te amo.” made Him slightly chuckle. Second time, He blushed. After the next one, He could not keep it and made a sketch of His beloved one and Himself kissing under Columbia’s wax palms. ★ There was a thought about visiting Columbia, indeed. But only if time and money gathers. If not, then Василий promised to get as close as He can. Via photos, stories, language, books, history and art.

★ Meeting Василий’s Mama was not only making her excited, but also His beloved one. How They got along? Easily. Talking, or at least trying to, about Василий and His childhood. Photos of little Василий included. ★ And how was Василий trying to bond with those distant parents away in Columbia? Well, Василий learned some sentences and formal words to impress Them through letters. And a little birdie told His beloved one, that was a success.

★ Honeymoon styled in Russian–Columbian way is one wild combination full of passionate dances to borscht at the end of the day. ★ And how does arguing go? One tries to gesture His anger out while the other one goes on with the high temper, ending it on compromise.

La famosa obra de Vasily Perov, uno de los principales artistas rusos de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, se ha convertido durante mucho tiempo en un ejemplo de libro de texto del género cotidiano en la pintura. A la vuelta de las décadas de 1860 y 1870, el artista deja temas sociales agudos y busca la relajación en temas gratificantes dedicados a la naturaleza, la caza y la pesca.

A Perov le encantaba cazar desde la infancia y se autodenominaba con orgullo un conocedor del "mundo del canto y el crecimiento". La comida de hombres sin complicaciones que él conoce bien en el seno de la naturaleza está escrita con una ironía no disimulada y evoca asociaciones con los calumniadores héroes literarios de numerosas historias de caza. Perov muestra el mundo de "personas idealistas, románticas, entusiastas y soñadoras" a las que les gusta relajarse en la espesura del bosque oa orillas del río, lejos del bullicio de la ciudad.

Un anciano, sentado a la izquierda, habiendo entrado en el papel, claramente está contando fábulas. Los binoculares del modelo antiguo que cuelgan del cofre insinúan una sólida experiencia de caza. Los trofeos obtenidos en forma de liebre y patos así lo confirman. El hombre está claramente complacido, aunque en lugar de una manada tiene un perro, que se llevó algunas de las presas. Esta imagen fue pintada por Dmitry Pavlovich Kuvshinnikov (1830 - 1901), un conocido médico de la policía en Moscú y amante de la caza con armas.

Frente a él se sienta un joven "recién" cazador. Absorto en historias sonoras, se olvida distraídamente de encender un cigarrillo, habiendo preparado una mecha humeante y un cigarrillo con la otra punta. Por inexperiencia, se vistió con todo lo nuevo, pero no demasiado cómodo para caminar por bosques y pantanos. No es de extrañar que la bolsa de caza y la red de caza que ha capturado para cazar estén vacías, lo que, sin embargo, no molesta al héroe en absoluto. El prototipo fue Nikolai Mikhailovich Nagornov (1845-1896), de veintiséis años, futuro miembro del Ayuntamiento de Moscú.

En el centro del lienzo, aparentemente, se representa a un cazador local, que conoce bien el entorno forestal y es escolta de sus conocidos. Su apariencia delata al cazador más experimentado que hay en él. Vasily Vladimirovich Bezsonov (1826-1887), un noble, oficial clerical y artista aficionado, posó para esta imagen. Era un amigo cercano de Perov. En 1869, el artista pintó un retrato de Bezsonov , que se conserva en la colección de la Galería Tretyakov.

Los objetos de caza, que con tanta elocuencia "hablan" de los personajes de la imagen, se recogen en bodegones separados y son una adición importante al "escenario" de la obra. El cálido tono amarillento que une todos los fragmentos del lienzo se asocia con el color del otoño tardío. Perov muestra cómo es necesario "amar la poesía de la caza" para ser libre, para sentirse involucrado en la originalidad y la pureza del mundo natural.

Gambito de dama

«Gambito de dama» es una creación extraña. Serie de deportes y análisis de personaje a partes iguales, el drama ajedrecista de Netflix es una de las grandes sorpresas de la plataforma este año. Escrita y dirigida por Scott Frank, guionista de «Logan» (2017) y «Minority Report» (2002), la serie presenta la historia de Elizabeth Harmond (Anya Taylor-Joy), quien descubre el ajedrez durante su infancia en un orfanato.

Con solo siete capítulos es fácil de ver en pocos días, y es suficientemente adictiva como para hacerlo en una sola tarde. Hay varios motivos por los que la serie funciona, y por los que consigue enganchar al espectador con facilidad.

Si hubiese un solo motivo para ver «Gambito de dama» sería su interpretación central. Harmond no es un personaje fácil. Sensual, brillante y rota a partes iguales. Capaz de resolver cualquier conversación con un comentario mordaz, ganar una partida de ajedrez en menos de treinta movimientos o de romperse y pasar días en una vorágine de alcohol y drogas.

Anya Taylor-Joy consigue encarnar todas sus contradicciones. Uno de los temas fundamentales de la serie es la soledad de su protagonista, por lo que pasa bastante tiempo sola frente a la cámara y Taylor-Joy hace que cada uno de estos instantes sea fascinante. Tanto sus intentos de llenar su vacío con sus vicios, como sus largas sesiones de entrenamiento frente a un tablero o un libro, consiguen captar la atención.

Aunque es poco probable aprender la estrategia del juego viendo la serie, Frank y compañía consiguen transmitirlo de forma electrizante.

Pero no son solo los torneos, la serie consigue que entendamos la forma de pensar de los ajedrecistas de alto nivel. Desde trucos de visualización hasta la capacidad de memorizar juegos anteriores; es fácil entender cómo cada uno de los participantes entiende el deporte y por qué están enamorados del mismo. La serie llega al punto de revelar la personalidad de personajes clave explicando cómo mueven las piezas.

Más allá de Taylor-Joy, el resto del elenco es de gran nivel. Desde Thomas Brodie-Sangster como Benny Wats, su principal rival estadounidense, pasando por Harry Melling en la piel de Harry Beltik, quién se convierte en su primera gran víctima dentro del mundo del ajedrez hasta llegar a Jacob Fortune-Lloyd como Townes, un periodista de ajedrez que se fija en la habilidad de la joven protagonista.

Pero lo mejor del elenco son cuatro figuras de la vida de Harmond que quizás hubiesen podido pasar más tiempo en pantalla. Bill Camp le da un aire de respetabilidad imprescindible al bedel que le enseña a jugar ajedrez; Marielle Heller da vida a la madre adoptiva de la joven ajedrecista y quien le traspasa algunos de sus problemas; Moses Ingram se convierte en Jolene, su primera amiga quién aparece de vuelta en momentos clave de la trama, y Marcin Dorociński consigue generar empatía y darnos pistas de una personalidad más profunda de la necesaria con las pocas escenas de su Vasily Borgov.

La serie protagonizada por Anya Taylor-Joy no deja de recibir alabanzas y eso ha llevado a recordar que Heath Ledger había anunciado que iba a convertir en película la novela original de Walter Travis. De hecho, hubiese sido su debut como director de no haber fallecido de forma prematura el 22 de enero de 2008.

Ledger incluso contactó con Ellen Page para ver si estaba interesada en dar vida a la protagonista de la película, pero su muerte truncó el proyecto. Una pérdida enorme para el mundo del cine, porque además nos quedamos sin saber qué podría habernos ofrecido detrás de las cámaras.

No es solo una serie de Ajedrez, es mucho más y no te dejará indiferente, te engancha sin darte cuenta 👍

BLAABR- Vice’s Crew

Some more minor characters this time being the henchman of notable criminal and smuggling magnate Vice. While he's often the one doing the dealing and arranging shipments of new product, he relies on a small crew of trusted compatriots to move the new supplies, make deliveries, and help deal with any prying eyes. From left to right:

 "Mero" as he’s known, is a mysterious fellow clad in loose black clothes and even more strangely a tagelmust. Vasily and Walker aren't exactly sure when or why he joined up with them nor why Vice took him but nonetheless get along with the twerp. He presents himself strangely often speaking in a distorted manner attempting to come off as menacing and slick. He constantly rambles on about the code of criminals and of old time mobsters from the 20's which perhaps lends more insight into his character and habits than anything else; he’s a bit of a nerd.

 Walker Wright meanwhile was originally a member of one of the many colour gangs in the Residential Quarter. Following a dispute with Vice, where the gang tried to threaten him out of paying for a weapons shipment, they soon found themselves besieged by the rival Darts with Walker jumping out a window to escape the brawl. As he watched the dust settle he saw the motorcycle helmeted smuggler walking out with the bagheads and quickly realized this was no coincedence. Rather than take a beating for his crews greed, Walker instead played it as cool as he could under the circumstances and plainly walked up to Vice playing to his pride by expressing how he was small time but Vice was a whole nother' level. Despite his anger for the would be swindlers, Vice accepted Walker's humility and let him into the fold albeit having extreme suspicion that would take over a year of dutiful work with little pay to finally earn his full trust. Since then it's been smooth sailing for him and he couldn't ask for more. Pockets full and belly fat, Walker’s only concern is feeling deja vu with his boss’ seemingly endless ego and ambition...

 Vasily Blok had been by Vice's side for years having been close childhood friends, when approached about the lucrative business of moving illegal items he jumped at the opportunity for riches and has loyally acted as Vice's confidant since. His role mostly regards finding new buyers and clients to sell to which his ever enthusiastic personality has little problem doing. Despite his closeness to Vice however, Vasily detests narcotics and refuses to be apart of any deal involving drugs unless it's for people desperate for treatment or genuinely in need. Alongside this, he too has an aversion to the extreme violence his boss often resorts too in order to send a message and gets squimish rather easily.

Little Vera (1988) is one of the New York Times 1,000 Best Films.

Critic Leslie Halliwelll gave the film one star out of four and wrote “With its drunken father, promiscuous daughter and nagging mother, it will bring a sense of deja vu to anyone familiar with the British kitchen sink dramas of the 1960s.”

My rating - unseen

The film was directed by Vasili Pichul, who was born in the Ukraine, and had 12 director credits, from a 1982 short, this his first feature, to four episodes of a Russian tv series in 2013.  None of his other credits are notable.
