Amazon Bedrock Custom Models

Building and scaling generative AI applications is made simpler with Amazon Bedrock’s selection of high-performing foundation models (FMs) from top artificial intelligence (AI) firms. Publicly available weights that can be adjusted and tailored for particular use cases are offered by a few of these models. It is not simple to deploy customised FMs in a scalable and secure manner, nevertheless.

The option to import custom weights for supported model architectures (such Meta Llama 2, Llama 3, and Mistral) and serve the custom model using On-Demand mode is now available in preview on Amazon Bedrock. Models with weights can be imported from Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) in the Hugging Face safetensors format.

This allows you to utilise Amazon Bedrock with pre-existing customised models, like Code Llama a code-specific variant of Llama 2 produced by retraining Llama 2 on code-specific datasets or to refine models for your own particular use case using your data, then import the refined model into Amazon Bedrock.

Introducing a personalised model to Amazon Bedrock

You can select Imported models from the Foundation models area of the navigation pane in the Amazon Bedrock console. Currently, model weights from an Amazon SageMaker model or an Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket can be imported by AWS to generate a bespoke model.

Custom Models weights are imported via Amazon from an S3 bucket. You use this pull request (PR), which contains weights in safetensors format, to download the MistralLite model from the Hugging Face website in another tab of your browser. By the time you read this, the pull request might already be included in the main branch because it is currently ready to merge. MistralLite is an improved version of Mistral-7B-v0.1 language model that can process up to 32K tokens of lengthy context.

Important information

In the US East (North Virginia) AWS Region, you are able to use your own weights for supported model architectures on Amazon Bedrock. The preview version presently has the ability to import models.

Amazon Bedrock provides the model in On-Demand mode when utilising custom weights; there are no time-based term commitments and you simply pay for what you need. For more details, refer to Amazon Bedrock pricing.

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) is used to control the import model functionality. Only roles that are necessary for your organisation can be granted access to this feature.

With this release, creating and growing generative AI apps with bespoke models that incorporate security and privacy is now simpler.
