It may be hard to believe given how often I log on to tell you guys about my diarrhea, but I have a lot of symptoms and problems I don't post about. Turns out a lot of them are, or could be, complications of having untreated celiac for years.

On the one hand, that gives me some hope that I'll feel less unwell after my cilia grow back, I start absorbing nutrients again, etc.

On the other hand, now that I realize a future exists in which I don't have to put up with all this shit, it suddenly feels far more intolerable. I've been bottling it all up and ignoring it, but beneath that I am so tired and angry from [a bunch of things I don't want to share].

Usually reader/oc stories make the first Big Moment of tenderness with Erik about his face, and I get how that tracks with canon progression but it can feel a little rushed to me.

I think another way to show gentleness without pressuring Erik to unmask could be washing his hair. I get the feeling that for all his fine suits personal hygiene is something Erik really struggles with, and I know from personal experience what a difference it can make when everything's already terrible to at least feel a little cleaner/ease the small irritations.

Depending on the canon Erik might not actually have much hair, but he probably still has a lot of scalp irritation and buildup of oils and dead skin, especially if he wears wigs all the time, so I think a gentle massage with a soft scrub to lift that all away would really help. He might not really brush the hair he has, so gently working the tangles out from tip to root and washing it could ease a lot of tension in his head.

Maybe lotion or conditioner to keep that fresh hair & skin from drying out or becoming brittle so it heals easier, or medicinal ointment if there's any open sores. I think letting someone close enough to his head to wash his hair would be a huge display of trust for Erik, and feeling so clean and light and cared for would help him a lot.

Unmasking might still be too drastic, as I imagine he would be pretty overwhelmed already, but it's definitely a step toward accepting that he can be cared for and doesn't have to live in fear and pain all the time.

God damnit... So, I'm slightly genderfluid. Most of the time the shifts happen slowly or infrequently, and mostly stay on sort of genderless-demigirl-demiboy-??? scale, if that makes sense.

And I've been sensing that shift is about to happen, and was hoping it would be towards more feminine end of my scale, but nooooooo, obviously not, it went towards more masculine because why not.

It's also strong enough this time, that I may need to cut my hair short and get a new binder bc my old one is too small now... Hair I can luckily cut myself, but binders won't come cheap... 🤦

But there was nothing but I kept looking and looking and still noting was there #and my scalp was really try so thee was a little bit of dry skin coming off which made me even more crazy about it #and I don’t know. I’m over it now I’m fine but like. there’s always something wrong and I don’t want every day and every night #to be this bad awful experience because then that’s just my whole existence. knowing that each day there’s going to be *something* to make #me absolutely miserable. #so I really hope this is just a stress thing xoxox #also i don’t have lice I just needed to clear that up

Did yall notice that Quaritch told Ardmore that if she gave him ships to catch Sully he'd "bring back his scalp"? Quartich was referenccing scalping, an ancient and brutal war rite.

While scalping wasnt invented by any one particular group pre or post colonization era, it was used extensively by European settler-colonizers in "The New World" as a tool of terrorism and economic exploitation against Indigenous people, so its quite a sensitive subject. European colonizers scalped men, women, and children for various prices, and often institutionalized the practice to maintain socioeconomic hierarchies that benefited rich white men the most at Indigenous people's expense.

This choice of words by Quaritch in this scene made it viscerally clear how Cameron meant to portray the RDA as a brutal settler colonial force seeking to impose itself on Pandora. Quaritch literally or metaphorically bringing back Jake's scalp references the imperial brutality of supressing Indigenous resistence and insurrections. And his referencing of scalping was a vivid enough promise to Ardmore that Na'vi resistence would be futile after this mission because all Na'vi would become targets if they dared to defend their sovereignty.

I was able to afford my normal shampoo that doesn't leave my scalp dry and a new scalp scrub and my usual face wash and I just feel so much better

She shakes her head, “No tv.” He raises a brow, “Don’t,” you chuckle. “Go babe,” You say, grabbing her plate and letting her run off to do god knows what in the living room. 

“She’s never gonna learn,” Simon sighs, watching his baby run around throwing her toys in the air, causing destruction. “That’s your fault.” you laugh. Simon gets up, clearing his plate, “I know,” he admits, rubbing your very swollen belly. 

“They’re gonna be worse!” he dips down to peck your stomach, “I’m gonna go change.” He says stretching. 

When he comes out to the living room, You on the couch and your Simon duplicate rolling around on the floor while her cartoons play in the background. “What are you doing, bug?” He gets on the floor also, laying on his back, letting his daughter roll around him, occasionally kicking his side or slapping him in the face accidentally. 

You were on your phone not paying attention to the two on the floor, Until it got quiet, Your daughter sitting on Simon's stomach while he laid on the floor, both of them staring at the tv. 

“You okay?” you say looking up from your phone. 

Simon looks at you, “Tv.” he mumbles and gets right back to it. You tap him with your foot, “Since she’s down, get her pigtails out.” He nods, swatting your foot away from his shoulder. 

He lifts her with so much ease, and takes the rubber bands from her out so easily and quickly, Playing with the warm honey curls that sit on top of her head, massaging her scalp a little. 

Simon sat on the floor with his back on the couch and your guy's daughter between his legs, he played with her hair, her big brown eyes getting droopy with sleep. 

“I need to give her a bath,” You whisper to Simon who was too invested in Mulan. “C’mon buggie, Bath and then we go to sleep.” You say reaching for her, She nods.

You bathe her, and get her under the covers in no less than 45 minutes. 

Simon holding her in his arms, rocking her back and forth just like he did when she was a newborn, “You sleepy buggie?” he mumbles to her, she nods her eyes closed and head on his shoulder, “Me too.” he sighs, placing his hand on top of her head, “Let’s make night-night.” He places her on her toddler bed, under five minutes she’s out, small snores leave her mouth. 

You stand at the edge of your bed rubbing your big belly while you watch Simon kiss her cheek and tuck the cover around her for the millionth time.
