I will reserve judgement on Phoenix since I haven’t seen him yet but this love affair people have with Clavier is strange. He wasn’t a good Napoleon at all.

It’s funny too that this miniseries is held in pretty high regard now. I am old enough to remember the Napoleon circles online watching this and ripping it apart about how terrible it was (and is). A friend who is a big Josephine admirer lost her mind over how bad Isabella Rossilini was. The TV edition was mocked because of how terrible the editing was. Egypt was boiled down to Napoleon riding on a camel, pointing to the pyramids and saying “Look! The pyramids!” with viewers likening it to Napoleon appearing like a tour guide. The extended dvds made the movie marginally better.

Maybe in 10 years from now everyone will love Scott’s movie too.

on an unrelated note i've had some weird nostalgia for old web design and generally how the internet used to look, which is weird, because as a young'un (16) i never even really got to experience that. but damn, i gotta admit it looks so colorful and pretty now

"Bliss" is such a nice name for an afterlife

negative canthal tilt ❌❌ its so over for clavier

i keep drawing her making that neutral face but everytime i do she looks a little older. Her liverspots and wrinkles were actually a concious choice made by her, even though she really is quite old - for an animatronic, at least (15!).

Honestly i had 2 directions one of them being bringing back the sans djmm,

And the other being... a Tumblr Sexyman styled humanization.

For the actual human dj i realized it would be good if i did that thing where characters' limbs get thinner as they end and that's the way to incorporate his skinny ass arms?

Also a weird hc of mine is that DJ cries or cries crocodile tears with wiper fluid either from an actual emotional event or just to clean them out and in the fire ending his eyes are all melted bc of it

And finally, Clavier in bliss. does she deserve it? I'm not sure
