HAPPY 42ND BIRTHDAY TO HRH THE PRINCESS OF WALES, CATHERINE ELIZABETH ♡

Catherine Elizabeth (nee. Middleton) was born to Michael and Carole Middleton at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, on 9 January 1982. She was christened when she was six months old at the parish church of St. Andrew’s Bradfield in Berkshire on 20 June.

Catherine studied in nursery school in Amman during her family's time in Jordan. After moving back to the UK, she joined St. Andrew’s School, from where she went on to study in Marlborough College in Wiltshire, studying Chemistry, Biology, and Art at A-level.

The Princess undertook a gap year gap year studying at British Institute in Florence, working with Raleigh International programme in Chile, and crewing on Round the World Challenge boats in the Solent. In 2001, she enrolled in the University of St. Andrew’s where she met William for the first time to study Art history.

Cat and William fell in love during their time at uni, and married at Westminster Abbey on 29 APRIL 2011 at Westminster Abbey. The couple have three adorable cupcakes Prince George (b.2013), Princess Charlotte (b.2015) and Prince Louis (b.2018). The family of five divide time between their official residence, Kensington Palace and their two private residences - Amner Hall & Adelaide Cottage.

Upon her wedding, Catherine became HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, The Countess of Strathearn and Lady Carrickfergus. She received the titles of the Duchess of Cornwall & The Duchess of Rothesay upon King Charles's accession to the throne. William and her were made The Prince and Princess of Wales by him on 9 September 2022.

As well as undertaking royal duties in support of The King, both in the UK and overseas, The Princess devotes her time to supporting a number of charitable causes and organisations with some of her key areas of interest being Early Childhood Development, Children's Mental Health, Visual Arts and Sports among others.

Did you guess what BRF’s baby names would be and if so, what were your guesses? And which is your favourite?

I am way too proud of the fact that (as a history nerd) I guessed George because of the strong family line / George VI. I guessed Charlotte, Alice or Louise due to those being Queen Victoria’s daughters’ names that have been reused - but Charlotte was my top guess. I never guessed for Louis and wouldn’t have guessed his name anyway.

I didn't really play the guessing game for baby names.

I had a feeling a baby girl would Charlotte because of the Princess Royal pattern, but only for a non-heir daughter (as our Charlotte ended up being). I'm less confident William and Kate would have chosen Charlotte for a firstborn child - on the one hand, a) there hasn't been a Queen Regnant Charlotte before and they don't strike me as being that kind of a history-maker and b) I'm not sure that they were close enough to Charles at the time to be able to tolerate the amount of "Future Queen named after Future King Grandpa" PR Charles's team would have put out in 2013. But on the other hand, Charlotte follows the Goldsmith pattern - Carole (eldest daughter) and Catherine (eldest daughter).

I liked Alexander for George but I knew they wouldn't choose it for a first name because there hasn't been a King Alexander before and I feel like Elizabeth's "I'll choose my own name, of course" decision has set a modern tradition for the BRF. I don't think we'll see another British monarch use a middle name for their regnant name (e.g., how David became Edward VIII and Albert became George VI) again. I was pleased to see that Alexander is one of young George's middle names.

I liked Michael for Louis. If Charlotte honors Charles, Carole, and Diana, then it's only fair for Michael (Kate's father) to be included too. I also liked James for Louis too, but I knew it wouldn't be chosen because of then-Viscount Severn (William's cousin James), James Middleton, and James Matthews (Pippa's husband).

If William and Kate were to have had a fourth child -- and there was a period of time 2020/2021 when a lot of royal tarot readers and astrologists saw William and Kate having a fourth child and that child being a daughter -- I liked Lucy for her. Only for the parallels to The Chronicles of Narnia. But I think Frances or Francesca may have had the better chance of being chosen as it honors both Michael Middleton and, of course, Diana, since William and Kate's choices have all been rooted in their family.

Ernest threw me for huge loop (Eugenie's younger son). That kid's going to have a rough time in school. He'd have been better off as Ronnie.

August is fine. Unexpected, but on trend with today's baby names.

Archie and Lilibet were also very unexpected choices. Archie is fine but 'Harrison' for a middle name seems like Meghan was going for a branding opportunity, versus naming a person. Lilibet is the tragedeigh of the Windsor family and what a shame, because again, Meghan was naming a brand, rather than a person.

In short, he's blaming Kate for no one curtseying to Camilla during the coronation, as they were making their exit from the abbey.

His reasoning is that no one wanted to curtsey to her because certain people, the people who helped rehab Camilla as well as Kate's extended family, were excluded from the coronation and it was a snub that turned the entire congregation hostile towards her. It's so stupid, but apparently, Kate was disdainful because there were only "four Middletons and twenty Parker-Boweses", so she sent a mind-control signal for everyone to follow her lead and not bow to Camilla.

I wish that Kate was that powerful, but has Bower ever considered that people don't want to curtsey to Camilla because a) they'd already bowed to Charles 1.5 seconds before and b) Camilla is really, really unlikeable?

In London 1577, Henry Bynneman printed a book titled "The Gardeners Labyrinth: Containing a discourse of the gardeners life, in the yearly trauels to be bestovved on his plot of earth, for the vse of a garden : with instructions for the choise of seedes, apte times for sowing, setting, planting, & watering, and the vessels and instruments seruing to that vse and purpose : wherein are set forth diuers herbers, knottes and mazes, cunningly handled for the beautifying of gardens : also the physike benefit of eche herbe, plant, and floure, with the vertues of the distilled waters of euery of them, as by the sequele may further appeare. Gathered ovt of the best approved writers of gardening, husbandrie, and physicke." and written by Dydymus Mountaine [aka Thomas Hill]. As the title suggests, the book is about gardening, with extra notes about uses of medicinal plants, and compiles the work of nearly 30 authors of antiquity, including Cicero and Galene.

The title page has the signature "John Edwards of Stanstie" on it, but it is difficult to know which John Edwards the signature belongs to, since there are far too many persons in the area with that name and most of them are related. Stanstie (today spelled Stansty) is a town near Wrexham in the county of Debingenshire in the northern part of Wales.

In the same year the book was published, John Edwards of Stanstie (d. 1635) built an estate house called Plas Issa, and it’s possible that this book was bought for a library there or to facilitate the creation of a garden. His second-eldest son, also called John Edwards (b. 1612), was a court physician to King Charles I of England, and may have made the majority of the annotations in the book, since they primarily appear next to the parts about the medicinal uses of plants. There was a prominent family in the same area of Wales with the name Middleton, and Edward Howell Middleton could have gotten ownership of the book through this connection.

It is not clear how this book made its way to the National Agricultural Library or even the United States in general. The NAL doesn't have any information on the provenance of the book beyond that it was acquired sometime in the 1900s.

One of the most interesting parts of the book (in my opinion) are the "knottes" or knotted gardens, which were gardens planted in complicated and intricate designs. Below is an example of a few of these designs, which I am telling myself would not be something that I would be able to maintain in my yard, no matter how pretty it looks.

Harry and Meghan’s ‘factually incorrect’ Lilibet claim was called out by GMB’s Kate Garraway

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has pointed out a factual inaccuracy in the statement issued by representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which announced the christening of their one-year-old daughter Lilibet on Wednesday, March 8. It was revealed that Meghan and Harry’s youngest child, Princess Lilibet Diana, was christened at their family home in Los Angeles on Friday, March 3.

The statement said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, 3 March, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor, on Thursday’s installment of Good Morning Britain; however, host Garraway claimed that the statement contained a "factual inaccuracy."

As she hosted Thursday’s show alongside Ben Shepherd, Garraway explained: "They put out a statement saying the Princess Lillibet was christened last Friday by the bishop of Los Angeles; actually, in the statement, they called him the Archbishop of Los Angeles, which is factually inaccurate, and you just think, gosh, someone who is so keen on accuracy and representation--it seems so unhelpful that things like that are wrong."

"You worry that the Sussexes don’t particularly help themselves, don’t you?" she added John Harvey Taylor, who is the Seventh Bishop Diocesan of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, wrote in a blog post on the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles website: "On behalf of Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry, and at the invitation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, I had the blessing of presiding as the sacrament of Holy Baptism was conferred on their daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, on Friday, March 3, at their home in Montecito."

He added, "Prince Harry and Meghan were gracious hosts to the congregation of family and friends who were present." This comes after a source reportedly told People that Meghan Markle, 41, and Prince Harry, 38, extended an invite to King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, but they were "not in attendance".

The Independent has contacted Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace for comment on the US publication. According to the publication, there were 20 to 30 guests at the intimate ceremony, including Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and Lilibet’s godfather, Tyler Perry.

Also on Wednesday (8 March), it was revealed that Harry and Meghan’s children will officially be referred to as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet; Lilibet, one, and her older brother Archie, three, were not given HRH titles at birth due to their position in the line of succession. At the time of both of their births, they were the great-grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the death of the Queen in September, Charles became king. As a result, Archie and Lilibet became the grandchildren of a monarch, which changed their royal roles. It is understood that the King was aware beforehand that the Sussexes intended to refer to their daughter as Princess Lili and that there had been correspondence about the matter.
