While the two got off to a rough start, Melody wasted no time sketching Chad from every angle as reference for the sculpture.

"I noticed, your friend isn't joining us." Chad inquired.

"He's not just my friend, he's my—"

"Husband?"

"No. He is mine though, so if you don't mind."

"Relax, I wouldn't. I entirely belong to someone else."

"Excuse me if that doesn't at all make me feel comfortable."

"That's fair. But truly, he means the world to me. In fact, it's his birthday today, so I'm keen on getting back to him soon so I can take him out tonight."

"To be honest he's displaying a lot of faith and trust in me by letting me do this alone. I want it to be a surprise what it ends up looking like. You should give your guy a bit more trust too. I'm certain he loves you enough not to run off with the first hot guy he sees."

"Mr. Chinsley, you're wearing my patience. Less talky more posey."

"Yes, ma'am." Chad nodded cheekily as he got back into position.

Mel couldn't deny that before her, guys were mostly Lukas's type. Pretty guys. The plan was to finish quick and get Chad out of her house ASAP.

Lucky for Chad, Mel wasn't just any artist, she was very good at what she does. And fast.

"And we're done!" Mel cheered. " I've got the reference sketches I need for the sculpture and you can go and never come back."

"You have a way of making a man feel so welcome." Chad snarked

Currently screaming about your portrayal of Chen-Chad— are there more plans for him and what are your thoughts on the character—

There is definitely more plans for him! He still has a Lloyd to bully, self-esteem to break, and an older cousin to bug ;P

My overall thoughts on him are that in the movie he's a pretty shallow (as in, not deep whatsoever) character that kind of has the purpose of being the face for the public's perspective on Lloyd (going from mindlessly hated to at least respected) but even that bit of approach doesn't really have any payoff. Not that it would have been that essential to include, but it's weird that he got a bit of spotlight in the beginning and then just a shot of looking regretful at the end. That may just be my love for bookend plot points speaking though *shrug*

Therefore, I've made him a very easy-to-despise minor antagonist, who is partially responsible for Kai's less than stellar tendencies, and who may or may not know more than he lets in on, and who may or may not get a little bit redeemed eventually (or at the very least, have his actions be more understood). I have some very general plans for him but I do not know how it's all gonna mesh quite yet.

Welp:

It's no surprise that Cole's go-to choice is Zane, but beyond the elephant in the room, they are each other's oldest + longest-lasting friend, and know each other best. They often fall into line with one another without even having to ask!

Similar to Cole and Zane, Kai and Jay tend to fall into sync automatically, as despite their tendency to take shots at each other their elements complement one another well and they both know how to get the most out of each other's fighting style.

If Nya and Lloyd weren't already Ride or Die, they'd wind up with one another anyway given how much the Core Four tend to head off doing their own thing a fair chunk of the time. Suits Nya just fine though—although we gotta be careful that Lloyd's enthusiastically destructive tendancies don't rub off on her snknksnk

Antonia probably shouldn't be weaseling her way into anything remotely dangerous, but when she does she's obviously tagging along with Jesse (at least, until Nelson gets into the picture). Jesse never fights it because he knows he's not gonna win shgfdhggd

Sunni's de facto best friend may be Samantha, but whenever she does wind up entangled with some Ninja Things, she's tag-teaming with Miranda (in which they may get distracted talking about Jay or sci-fi topics), and/or Harleigh (depending on the point-in-time...and Harleigh's mood)

This is prolly gonna sound somewhat bizarre, but I plan to have Skylor and Pixal team up often because they are both badass and cool and I desire more of their dynamic. We had a teeny taste in Crystalized and I want MOAR (...at least, once Pixal starts to warm-up to Skylor after, y'know, Skylor's dad tearing her apart and stuff.)

Olivia: Since Nya has replaced me with garbage, I'll just have to take Bridget instead 😤 Bridget: No, no you're nOT—

Brad/Sally/Gene and Chad/Maggie/Meghan all come as packaged set within their trios, though while they're not ~main~ characters, they'll show up often enough during shenanigans to be mentioned and I love their dynamics with one another (despite Chad's group being jerks at this moment in time) but aaaah I'm so excited to use them more—they're not exactly friends but they do eventually see the similarities in one another and it's so fun

River picked at his meal, his stomach tying itself in knots. Glancing up, he noticed Chad wasn’t getting much further with his. River had never seen him this withdrawn before. Was he still feeling ill and trying to hide it in the hopes River would still enjoy the evening? River chewed at the inside of his lip, his mind on the little box in his pocket; perhaps tonight wasn’t the best timing... Had Chad possibly figured out the reason behind tonight? Was he... readying himself to answer no?! “Hm?” River snapped back to attention as his name filtered into his thoughts. “River? River? I... I need to talk to you...” “Sorry, I zoned out.” “Rivi, I-I—” “If you aren’t feeling great, we can go home early. I honestly don’t mind.” River spoke quickly and with carefully measured calm, hoping that if he stopped Chad from starting, he wouldn’t have to endure the awkwardness and pain of being gently let down. “It’s not—” “Tonight was supposed to be special, I admit, but I promise it’s okay. We can d-do this some other time. I-it’s fine—” “Rivi, please, slow down—” “I can call over—” “River! I’m pregnant!” River froze completely, body and mind both falling numb. “...Rivi? P-please say something?” Everything around him went fuzzy, like a low-level static overriding his senses. With no input from his brain, his mouth defaulted to the words that had been swirling around his head all day. They came out quietly, barely a whisper. “...marry me?” “...What?” River blinked, snapping back to reality. “Nothing! Uh... but... How? We’ve been careful! ...Haven’t we?” Was this his fault? “These things can happen,” Chad dismissed hastily. “Did you really ask what I think you just asked?” “N-no!” River sputtered, cheeks hot. “I-I...” He buried his face in his hands for a few moments, taking a deep breath to reel in his churning thoughts. “Tonight was meant to go very differently...”
