Ok so as someone who started using this website right before Elon announced taking Twitter, I just want to talk about my take on (some of) the changes since then because, in theory, they should be targeted towards my demographic.

Blazing: I think this was new when I joined, but I didn’t think it seemed bad. You can pay to make your post reach more people, probably to attract brand accounts to the site. I can’t say I’ve seen a lot of brand accounts since then on my dash but I’ve seen a lot of blazed posts for photography. Didn’t really mess with how I had used tumblr at the time, doesn’t change anything now. It’s cool

Buying Checkmarks: taking the piss on twitter, which was funny at the time. However I’ve noticed people with more checkmarks will often have posts on my dash that are kinda cut off? I assume the checkmarks reached a second row and pushed the text out of the post but it’s kinda annoying. This has really only happened to me on mobile and is a pretty rare occasion, but i just don’t understand how this kinda thing happened in the first place? Was it not accounted for that some users would have ridiculous amounts of checkmarks?

Tumblr live: I’m gonna be honest, I thought this was a gaslighting thing from the community. Fucking never showed up for me, but from what I understand nobody liked it. My rule of thumb is if your feature is “opt out” for no reason, you never had confidence in it in the first place.

Side bar: why is it there? Isn’t all the stuff it shows already available on the top of the screen in the desktop application? And why? I honestly liked how tumblr payed out there stuff compared to other social media because it just felt different. It just seems like tumblr is trying to become new twitter, which is not a good look bestie.

Icon hiding: this is the newest one and I hate it so much. Why do I even have a pfp if nobody is gonna ever see it? Why am I able to display stupid checkmarks and badges if they don’t show when I reblog a post? A lot of these changes just feel needless, and this one by far is the stupidest.

Now, for a change of pace, what would be some changes I would actually LIKE to see as a newer user?

Tagging presets: when I reblog a post, or hell even post my own, wether I tag it at all or not depends purely on how I feel at the moment. For me rebloging feels like it should be able to be done quick. To remedy this, I think you should be able to have custom presets near the tag button. Like say I wanna reblog some art, I could click my “art” preset to automatically put down all the tags I would want when reblogging a post like that (Art, Not Mine, Fandom, ect). From there I can add or remove tags if I feel like it, but the point is to just make it more intuitive to reblog with tags. Especially because, from what I understand, that’s the only way a post will get traction.

Likes doing something: I don’t know what the point of likes are for. I think they contribute to your For You page, but I don’t look at that as often as my main dash. Maybe if likes had an effect on the main dash it could also help the problem with reblogging. Though I have no fucking clue what they would do extra if im being honest. Maybe just get rid of them entirely. They are, to say the least, pointless.

If I have any other thoughts I will just add them to this post.

also gets passive aggressive

another mf with a massive community except he has a lot of friends (sorry not sorry albedo)

the day the game was available for download, he stREAMED THE ENTIRE DOWNLOAD PROCESS

while he and his chat were waiting, they decided to watch the trailers and character showcases to get a feel for the game, and played some mario kart to pass the time !!

as soon as the game loaded, he threw mario kart behind him and went on 🐥

he typed his name (ajax) for the when he chose aether and literally everyone was appreciating the aesthetics HKJFS

he appreciated the aesthetics, fighting mechanics & voice acting a lot tho !!

they knew he was down bad before but now?? they know it’s hopeless to save him and if he ever falls out of love that’s when the world ends

he wasn’t interested in diluc,,, (even now his diluc is barely looked after, and only used for spiral abyss, *sweats*)

the next 5 star he got was around the 60 mark, and he got a weapon,,,

i mean,,, he got the weapon that was most suited for u so that’s smth at least (ˉ▽ˉ；)

after he used all his remaining primos and fates, he finally got u 🥺

he just went “fuck the storyline” and immediately put u in his party and just

admired u as a whole

went through all the voice lines available, ur character story, ur idle animations (he had a heart attack from u and his chat clipped it) and took many, many screenshots

his favourite voice lines would have to be the night + about us + (y/n)’s hobbies

and then he equipped u with ur weapon and damnnn did u look so good with it 😩

he changed u to be his avatar, with his signature as :

after at least £2k, he got u to c6, along with at least 1 copy of all the standard 5 stars,,

he finds it hot tho so it’s okay—

i won’t lie tho, his zhongli after he got him is his second strongest after u

he just builds all his characters in the most broken way he can so he can show his viewers that everyone can be a dps in their own right, not just the ones meant to be since there’s no right or wrong in this game !!

but now ur weapon is r5, ur lvl 90 and u have lvl 20 5 star artifacts that make u the most broken (y/n) seen

ppl who co op with him are honestly baffled,,, especially when the feature of them being able to view other players’ character stats become available,,,

u with ur nearly 3k atk,,,

he’s hit over 600k with u tho and he’ll always flex that

no one can top him as a (y/n) main and that’s honestly just a fact at this point 😩

when he saw that the dating sim hangouts was official, his immediate and iconic response was simply ;

“so when will (y/n) become a dateable, huh 🤨”

to this day he’s still waiting to be able to date u in-game <//3

Tumblr Get To Know - Tag game

Thanks @rinielle for the tag, what a fun little bio Q&A! More information than anyone needed about me below the cut.

1. Why did you choose your url? Probably self-explanatory but...I love Lan Jingyi with my whole heart, and he is definitely the chaotic good sort of child I would hope to raise, if I wanted to raise a child. My FIRST tumblr was a username I’ve had practically my whole life and it was Elvish I cobbled together myself from Ruth S. Noel’s handbook when I was, like, 9; my second blog was a tattoo I have in Latin.

2. Any side-blogs? I have a personal blog that I RARELY use, and it’s mostly just gothy aesthetic shit and some multifandom yelling.

3. How long have you been on tumblr? Ah...since...2010? 2009? Something like that.

4. Do you have a queue tag? I’m too lazy and I’m actually not sure what the point of it is? So, no.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? Because I desperately needed more people to scream about The Untamed with!!! And it WORKED, I love you all.

6. Why did you choose you icon/pfp? It is the closest representation of my actual self that I could find within the theme of the fandom. It’s pretty close, honestly, going by Vibes.

7. Why did you choose you header? IT WAS THE GREATEST GIFT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE, FROM THE INCOMPARABLE CLOUD. GO LOOK AT HER ART AND HER FIC AND HER WONDERFUL EVERYTHING @milkcrates!!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!!!! *cries about it for the hundredth time*

8. What’s your post with the most notes? I think this fic promo post. But this one is a close second. I don’t get very many notes!! This tumblr is more like a warm lil house full of love than a big noisy stadium, and I do not mind at all.

10. How many followers do you have? Don’t know, don’t care. :)

11. How many people do you follow? No idea! (I am aware all of these numbers are available but like I said...I could not care less.)

12. Have you ever made a shitpost? N...no? I don’t think so? I don’t often even MAKE posts. Maybe that Titanic ficlet I added onto Dani’s genius AU idea almost counts but honestly it is too earnest to be a shitpost.

13. How often do you use tumblr each day? Less than I used to but more than I should? But I don’t feel like I just scroll mindlessly here, I’m really actively enjoying the content I see. I love this fandom.

14. Did you have a fight/argument with a blog once? Who won? Nope! I’ve never widely engaged with internet people before this fandom, and this blog is very much a drama-free zone. If somebody has a callout or constructive criticism for me, I will accept it wholeheartedly; if someone comes at me with wank, they will be lightly bopped on the head or entirely ignored. But none of this has happened as of yet! Like I said: warm lil house full of love.

15. How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this post’? Nobody is obligated to reblog anything! Tumblr-as-escapism is valid, and guilt is an ineffective information-spreading technique. Also, Tumblr is not a credible news source. Educate yourself and disseminate information as you personally see fit!

16. Do you like tag games? Yeah! It’s fun to see and be seen, is it not? I did sort of miss a few I think, in the last month, things have been a little crazy. But I like it, it’s fun, and if you’ve tagged me, thank you for making me feel involved!!

17. Do you like ask games? Maybe? I’ve never reblogged one because I don’t feel like I have enough followers for people to see it, and I get so few asks anyway. But they sure look fun! I love talking to the people here, everyone is so great and has such fascinating thoughts, and obviously...I also love to talk. 😅

Getting to Know You - Tag Game

I was tagged by the awesome @rinielle!! Thank you for the tag, I had fun doing this. <3

1. Why did you choose your url?

I chose my URL because I’m a fan of Studio Ghibli films. “Susuwatari” refers to the soot sprites that are in Spirited Away, and “kompeito” refers to the colorful star-shaped candy they are fed.

2. Any side-blogs? If you have them, name them and why you have them.

So I started a 2ha sideblog, but I only have one post on it so far and its just a housekeeping one haha. It was in anticipation for the release of HYX/Immortality. However I don’t think I’ll have the capacity to manage two blogs so I decided to just save the URL and have all my mess on my main blog.

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

So I created my blog years and years ago, probably in 2010? But I never used it, and had only a few things posted. In June 2020, I wiped everything and started reblogging The Untamed content.

4. Do you have a queue tag?

I do, but it’s really boring. It’s just “q” because it’s quick and easy to type.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

No clue haha. I think it’s because I liked anime and wanted to look at gifs? But again, I never used my blog so I can’t really say for sure.

6. Why did you choose you icon/pfp?

My icon that shows in the dashboard is the manhua version of Jiang Cheng. I chose him because he’s my most favorite MDZS character (since this is a mostly CQL blog) and also my favorite fictional character in general.

I also have an icon on the sidebar of my desktop theme, which is circular gif of HuaLian. I chose that because I love that pairing so much (third-most favorite) and also I wanted TGCF representation on my blog.

7. Why did you choose you header?

I have two headers, one for my dashboard/mobile, and one for my theme.

I recently changed my header (it used to be Jiang Cheng gripping Sandu) to a gif of the Twin Jades from the MDZS donghua. I chose that because I love the character design of them in the donghua. I think they are really ethereal and I love how graceful they are in that scene.

My desktop theme header is a BingQiu gif from the Scumbag System donghua. I chose that as my header because I love that ship so much, I love that scene, and I love SVSSS in general. They are my second-most favorite ship so I wanted to represent them on my blog somewhere.

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

So I just started making my own content like a month ago, so I haven’t had that much time to build up notes (and none of my text posts got particularly big at all). The post with the most notes is this Nie Huaisang birthday edit which has just over 1K notes. Honestly, I was shocked when it reached that number because I didn’t feel that good about the set when I posted it. But the comments in the tags have been super encouraging and I am thankful that people like the set.

10. How many followers do you have?

More than I could imagine! I’m still a growing blog, so I don’t have a whole lot, but I’m thankful for each and every one of my followers.

11. How many people do you follow?

Around 200! I feel like that’s not a lot....but I’m following new blogs pretty consistently.

12. Have you ever made a shitpost?

No, my brain is not big enough for that. Though I have an idea for one...but I don’t think it would be very funny or anything.

13. How often do you use tumblr each day?

Too often. I use it as procrastination.

14. Did you have a fight/argument with a blog once?

Never, because I don’t really get a lot of asks and I only use messaging/askbox/tags for saying positive things. I don’t believe in starting fights, and if someone were to try start one with me...I think I would probably try to diffuse it as quickly as possible.

15. How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this post’?

I don’t feel one way or another, I just simply scroll past. If people choose to reblog it, that’s up to them.

16. Do you like tag games?

Yes! It’s a fun way to get to know others.

17. Do you like ask games?

I’ve never done any because I don’t think I would get any asks...haha. But I do think they are fun, and would consider doing them in the future as I grow my blog.

18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?

Hmmm....not really sure how to answer this question. A few of my mutuals I think are popular within the fandom, but idk what “famous” means in terms of Tumblr.

19. Do you have a crush on a mutual?

Not in the literal sense! Just “their content is super nice I look to them for inspiration and they seem to have a nice online presence.”

1.Why did you choose your url? i needed to change my tag on everything because i wanted to start anew, and since im a witch, I just kinda played around with the word "witchy" until I settled on my url! wiitchea is pronounced either "witchy" or more preferably "wee-chee", just because I think it's cuter. 2. I don't think it's fair to be obligated to reblog posts on any social media site, let alone tumblr. sometimes people just want to get on social media to distract from the real world. its good to raise awareness, but you shouldn't force people to do it. i feel it defeats the purpose of learning, they're just reblogging/sharing because they have to. 16. Do you like tag games? 1. why did you choose your url?

i wanted to start a shameless blog because i was posting a lot of shameless stuff on my other account but i didn’t want to turn that one into a full shameless blog and milkovichesmicks was one of the first things i typed in and it worked!

2. any side blogs?

i have a really old blog and a newer blog that i haven’t posted on in a while since i’m primarily on this one

3. how long have you been on tumblr?

since 2013! i was 12 :/ embarrassing xx

i’ve tried but i’m so bad at remembering to use it that i just don’t lol

5. why did you start your blog?

i really wanted to start a shameless blog because i started writing fanfic (which i haven’t even updated my fic in a few months uh oh)

i think i googled mickey icons and that was one of the ones that popped up and i liked it cause he’s cute

7. why did you choose your header?

i love them in that moment and how they’re just so in love and comfortable and how they’re such “cute domestic bitches” as sandy would say

i made a post after watching the post-finale interview about how well christian did and how glad i was that he was on the show and it got 41 notes which isn’t a lot but i don’t really make my own posts

not a fan. i don’t like when people try to guilt trip others especially for notes or clout or whatever.

i agree with lauren that there’s probably not many people in the shameless fandom who are tumblr famous, but all of my mutuals are beautiful and amazing and famous in my book

1. Why did you choose your URL?

I did answer this in more details [here], but it's just a panic name I choose when I was younger and will be forever stuck with me now

2. Any side blogs?

... 9 sideblogs, yes. The ones I post content/interact with people are @kiwilart, @kiwi-tries-to-write and @dcmk-hoard. The other ones are just thematic reblog centers so I can more easily find reblogs by theme.

3. How long have you been on tumblr?

My oldest reblog is from January 2011, but I've been on tumblr a bit longer before I started reblogging stuff (not counting the old posts I deleted when cleaning up the blog)

4. Do you have a queue tag?

I used to, but now I rarely queue things and just bomb people with content before I once again dissapear.

5. What did you originally start this blog for?

I had a friend who loved tumblr, so I created one because why not?

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

It's my FFXIV character! I like using them to represent myself :D

7. Why did you choose your header?

I just choose a random art of mine that kinda matched with my icon and gg.

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

Currently it seems to be my [DCMK Ranma ½ redraw], who recently surpassed my [Aro!Hakuba comic]. I think people really like art shitposts.

9. How many followers do you have?

My main tumblr currently has 186 followers, but for sure more than half of them are ghost followers from years ago (the bot blogs...). My art account has 187 folllowers and my... dcmk reblog account somehow has 148 followers? (I wasn't expecting this) Those are the two blogs who probably don't have ghost followers messing the count because they're newer owo

10. How many blogs do you follow?

I'm currently following 210 blogs! :D

... So many of them must be inactive by now.

11. Have you ever made a shit post?

Certainly, yes. It's my most popular posts.

12. How often do you use tumblr every day?

Depends of the day, but I usually do quick checks on tumblr through the day. Not for too long, though. So on average I don't think I spend more than one hour on tumblr? There are certainly days I spend way more time than that, though.

13. Have you ever had a fight with another blog?

I don't believe so, no owo

14. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

I will purposely not reblog the post even if it's something that I completly agree with if they guilty trip me into rebloging it. I will do that even if they disguise it as "X people are encouraged to reblog this".

15. Opinion on tag games?

They're fun to do!

16. Opinion on ask games?

I love to overshare so I love when people ask me things.

17. Which of your mutuals is more tumblr famous?

Huuh, I have someone in mind, but it feels weird to just talk about them here?

18. Do you have a crush on any of your mutuals?

Not that I'm aware, no. (I can be a bit oblivous to my own crushes until it hits me in the face in some way, but I'm positive I'm not crushing on anyone)
