Ronnie Radke's beef with critics Brad and Anthony Fantano

In the middle of Aug. 2023 the YouTuber critic Brad (@bradtaste) attacked Ronnie Radke claiming he banned his videos on YouTube due to copyright issues. Although it's public that all Falling In Reverse property on YouTube is owned by Epitaph Records, and it was already knows that YouTube was doing a severe filtering those days/weeks (still) and taking down videos even without a particular reason, Brad kept insisting Ronnie was after him and played the victim. He was referring to a DM he recently got from Ronnie, who probably noticed what was going on.

A short time after this beef started, YouTube critic Anthony Fantano (@fantano) jumped in on the side of Brad's and tried out a campaign against Ronnie, with a doubtful success though. He made slandering videos on his different YouTube channels making it look like so many critics are against Ronnie on this issue.

Though the beef hasn't ended yet, it very much looks like Brad and Anthony lost this battle. There is no proof Ronnie had anything to do with the video blocks, this paranoia of Brad about Ronnie seems more and more ridiculous.

If you liked Olivia Atwater's Regency Faerie Tales, definitely give The Witchwood Knot a try. It had a lot of the same magic.

When the Game Was War filled the void left by Winning Time. These tales of the magic of 80s basketball align with the one time in my life I had interest in the sport. It has been fun revisiting that time, and WTGWW provided a nice deep dive into elements and players that Winning Time was unable to explore in its short run.

I've added your playlist to my library so I can start diving in and listening to the songs I don't recognize. I'm hella excited, I've been needing new music and I . Since you liked Johnny Hobo let me tell you about a band that I wanted to add but couldn't find on Spotify: Blackbird Raum. "Cities" is probably my favorite song by them. Also, on spotify, but I couldn't think of a song that would fit the playlist right off the top of my head, is the band Mischief Brew. OOH and you may like Dangerkids since they took inspiration from Linkin Park.

I'm glad you liked Escape the Fate, I'm surprised you never heard of them given they were rather popular in the late 2000's into roughly the 2010's. Basically the tail-end of the Scene kids era. Another related band to look into is Falling in Reverse. Long story short, EtF's original vocalist, Ronnie Radke got kicked out of the band when he went to jail. He was replaced by Craig Mabbitt who had recently been kicked out of Blessthefall. When Ronnie got out, and didn't get his spot back in EtF, he created Falling in Reverse. There's beef there, but I'm here for music, not drama.

My Darkest Days never got big and it's a fucking crime. While they were founded in 2005, they didn't gain traction until they signed on to Chad Kroeger's record label and started opening for Nickelback between 2010 and 2012. They disbanded when their vocalist Matt Walst, brother of Three Days Grace's bassist Brad Walst, took Adam Gontier's position in 2012-2013.

Again, thanks for the recs! Blackbird Raum is a bit too folksy for my taste, but I’ll be checking out more of Mischief Brew and Dangerkids. Not sure how I’ve missed Escape the Fate either tbh, but could’ve just been the timing. Around 2008 I moved from emo/alternative onto punk and ska, so I quit following the new releases. Come to think of it, I haven't listened to a single Three Days Grace album since One-X (2006), despite really liking the band. Time to uh… catch up.

Upd as I got done writing this: actually that’s not true, just found a song from their 2015 album in the AWSB playlist, but got no memory of anything else. Guess 2006 is just the best.

Anyways, Escape the Fate and Falling in Reverse must’ve fallen through the cracks somewhere around there at the end of the decade, as well as My Darkest Days. Happy to have discovered them now!

There’s a bunch of stuff that’s not on spotify, namely more obscure/regional bands. It’s a shame when they’re not even on youtube. There was this shitty punk band called Big Dildos from my hometown - the lyrics were dumb, the sound was shit, but the shows were always a blast. Now I can find them pretty much nowhere, but my hard drive. Same old, same old everywhere. 

Out of the bands that didn’t make it into the playlist but I like the sound of I'd say - Chevelle, Coheed and Cambria. Altho the latter can get too concept-album’y to go into any playlist other than their own.

I also discovered this sweet channel dedicated to the UK82 era recently. Some of those are on Spotify, but some remain solely as demos. Digging it immensely.

That Walkman is 100% stolen.

(In the beginning, it was actually a joke, I didn't know what name this magic amnesiac guy could have, so I just picked something random - but then I got attached to it. It would be great if I could make a movie or a series on the book and have "Ewan McGregor as: Gregor McEwan" in the credits lol)

Captain Radke is a reference to Ronnie Radke of Falling in Reverse, back when I was 17 I loved their stuff so much!

King Anor II has Tom Odell's face in my mind for some reason

Antonia may seem like a reference to Vivaldi, since she's a violinist, but I actually named her after a song by Pat Metheny that I was listening while writing chapter 1

Dalo was meant to be a self insert in the very first draft, but in the current version, although some events of her past are direct references to my life, she's not. Her name though, is actually a mispronunciation of my last name. There's a personal reason for this but I won't talk about it now

The whole Coven of Writers - even though the only named characters are J. R. R. Tolkien, H. P. Lovecraft, C. A. Smith, E. A. Poe (mentioned) and his wife Virginia Clemm

Buck and Wynter are respectively inspired by Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac

Eyra and Troye are respectively inspired by Aurora Aksnes and Troye Sivan (who also has a city named after him lmao I'm not good with names so I gotta steal 'em)

Lastly, there's a whole cast of characters who are going to appear much later - or much before? but I've already figured out all of their stories and roles. They're safe, in one of my notebooks. They won't be anymore when they'll get in the actual book *laughs evilly* *breaks down crying*

Luka Sniegowski: despite being the son of a polish immigrant, in my mind he looks like Bradley James (specifically 2008 Brad) and I don't know how to fix this. His name is a reference to the song "Luka" by Suzanne Vega.

Sam Campbell: the jock of the group. He looks like Todd Howard in 2006. I don't know why. My brain is a mystery.

Mary: I don't like her very much. Appearance-wise, she kinda reminds me of "Inception"-era Marion Cotillard.

Simon McFarlane: a jack of all trades. he's actually a rehash of a character from another story that I wrote when I was 15. Basically, I looked at a picture of Colin Farrell circa 2007, when he had long hair, and went "oh my god he has just the face I need for Simon!" Idk, it kinda matches his personality.

Carl Richardson: Simon's coworker, he's based on "The Pelican Brief"-era Denzel Washington. He's the first black character I'll ever write, I honestly hope to not fuck things up.

Kwon Byung-ho (炳浩 / 권 병호): the older of two cousins. Spoiler: they were traveling to New York to see a distant relative but he saw some pictures of Providence on a travel guide and he just said "no wait who cares let's go here instead". He's based on Lee Dong-hun of A.C.E.

Shin Hae-seong (海成 / 신 해성): the younger cousin. He comes from Busan and he's on his way to steal everybody's heart. He's based on Yang Jeong-in of Stray Kids.

Veronica Hall: a photographer. Red hair, freckles, quirky - the incarnation of summer. Her name is a reference to the song "Veronica" by Onewe

Things in life don’t always go right for people, I happen to be one of them. From my Dad passing away to cancer, losing my home and everything that belonged to me and my Dad, My Mom’s health, Our roof falling in, and now to our Jeep quitting on us. Life hasn’t been good to me at all and i’ve been working a lot to help keep me and my family alive and with our Jeep going out on me and i’m living paycheck to paycheck I could really use some help. I don’t want to end up losing my job but If I can get a vehicle soon that’s what’s going to end up happening. I’m already killing myself at my job trying to get somewhat ahead and it’s not going so well. I’ve been getting hurt pretty bad and missing work because of it. If any of you could help me I would really appreciate it <3 Also if you check out my previous posts about my Creator Code “Brad-Radke” I do get a percentage of what you buy from Epic Games so everything I make from that will also go towards a vehicle.
