✨️Duotale FAQ✨️

Just in case peeps ask questions a lot lol. Will add more as we go.

•What exactly is this AU about?

Its just a funny little AU where not all monsters were locked underground and some went into hiding instead. Some species of monster in this AU can take on human form with their magic, hence why this is possible. Of course, this doesnt stop kiddos, human or monster, from climbing that darn mountain though.

•When is the next page?

Duotale updates every Friday. Time varies but I try to keep it between 10am and 12pm EST. If either day falls on a holiday, the page will be posted the following day.

•Why is this AU called Duotale?

Because the two main characters are twins, hence the Duo in Duotale. Ok they aren't twins, but they are siblings, born a few months apart. Yes, Strawberry is the Older one.

•Is the player a thing in this AU?

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the AUs in the Citadel. No one is controlling the Duotale cast though. They've had their own mind and actions from the start. Underplayer is in the Citadel though, if you count them as a player.

●Can my AU be featured in your comic?

Why yes. Just refer to the link in the Masterpost labeled "how to get your AU into the comic". Follow the rules, answer the questions, and you'll be in where we can fit you! Do note that we will try to spread everyone out through different MVC visits, so please, don't be upset if your appearance isn't automatic! You will be seen eventually before the story's end! Scene art and asks are a different story though.

•Will Kris make an appearance?

Yes :3. I'll leave it at that. Ralsei will make an appearance in asks or art, Susie may or may not be in the comic itself. Here's the boi. During the comic he's a lil toddler. (Gender explaination is below btw for those that care.)

•Is Kris gonna be Frisk or Luci's counterpart?

No. Neither. They will be their own person.

●Is Clover gonna make an appearance?

Like Kris, the cowboy ghost will be there, but unlike Kris, you won't see him in comic til the end. He will (and has already) pop up on our blog, like Dalv or Star sherrif boi, but in comic, sorry, hes in Asgore's castle and that's so far away right now lmao. But here's how he looks. Yes, he knows the fox stole his hat. He does not know where his gun is, though.

●Will xxx color soul child also be in this AU?

Depends. We already have the Yellow soul decided (obvi). If There's another colored child you wanna see pop up as a canon-to-duotale ghost at the end of the comic you can ask, but so far only Clover and MAYBE Marine(Patience soul) but the lore is off that comic might contradict yellow or ours so that's undecided. Any other kids so far would be only seen in the MVC. We're trying not to pick kids in full existing sets so thats why Clover and maybe Marine are our only choices so far. We are more likely to make up the rest tbh. No more red souls though beyond cameos. Red souls work a special way in our AU and there's not a lot (if any) that can fit that requirement.

•Can other ghosts see Chara/Luci?

Yes. And she can see said other ghosts. Strawberry can only see those that she summons and Blackberry can see ghosts as well. Frisky can sense spirits near him but obviously cannot see them.

●Why do some characters have rings around them?

That just means they're dead. Ghosts. Spirits that didn't move on to heven or hell. The ring color matches the color of their soul and doesn't change. Luci, Blackberry, Dalv, and Kris have special rings though. They change color based on emotions. This color changing mood ring is only available to one species and it starts becoming visible around puberty. Luci is fullblooded, hence why her ring is always visible and changing like a rainbow, though Blackie and Kris aren't fullblooded, so their rings might be a bit faultly ha. If you're every curious what the colors mean, you can refer to the link labeled "Luci's mood ring" on the master post. Or a more simplified list ca be found on her teen ref.

•What exactly are the main cast's species?

Blackie is is a halfbreed kitsune vampire, Luci is a purebreed vampire with demonic powers, Strawberry is a tanuki who practices witch magic, and Frisky is a human. He just has a magical scarf to give him wings like redbull. As for Kris... you'll figure it out. No spoilers, sorry lol.

•How did you come up with the idea of Duotale?

Originally this story was gonna be a comic of our own runs in Undertale, showing how they clash and would effect each other. Kinda like thise PMD comics and Nuzlocke animations people make. But somewhere between writing the script and making the first cover art, we changed our minds and made a whole AU instead.

•Is fanart allowed?

Yes uwu. You can find character info and all current ref sheets in the Masterpost, last section at the bottom :3 If ya tag me, I can reblog it in my main account so peeps can see it, and an account I have specifically for or art made by others so I wont lose it. Main account is @oatmealkitty . That is where all non ask/comic art goes.

•What ships are in this comic/blog?

Oh boy a hard question to answer. Ignoring any cameos, out of our own and JUST our own characters this is the list. I'm probably missing a LOT though as these are off the top of my mind.

•What are the pronouns of each character?

You will find all information on the masterpost, last section. If someone is missing we just didnt finish the refs yet. Apologies. Since I know MK, MTT and Blooky will be asked about due to lack of refs, they are all he/him here but Blooky and MK accept They/Them. Remember that this is an Alternate Universe, as in not sticking to the game's lore to a T. So please dont start a fuss over this. If canon versions of the characters ever speak or are spoken to in the Citadel, they will be referred to by the genders Toby (NOT THE FANDOM) placed on them, so be happy with that smh.

A note to avoid confusion since I KNOW this will cause issues if I don't give a bible explanation: WITHIN the comic, Kris' pronouns will be he/him, hence me calling the younger one he/him. Personally, I can't see a literal 3 year old toddler changing his gender or even caring about that. I know I sure didn't back then lol. I didn't care till damn near the end of highschool tbh. Soo, He starts requesting people use they/them (if possible) in his late teens as thats what I personally experienced. Sorry to anyone who wants out of the womb non binary/trans babies. Oh and when he's spoken to or about in another language, regaurdless of age, it will be male pronouns bc languages. Sorry, can't fix that either. That's just how languages work. So yeah, Tldr: In comic=he/him. In asks=they/them (he/him if non english language).

i'm v interested in ghost's past with roach, like the entirety of their relationship? hows and whys and whens!!! but i shall keep my silence for the sake of the sequel...... but!! ghost's issues keep increasing (well i keep learning there's even more baggage than i expected) with each of my asks/comments that u answer and i am Enjoying It. like yes. make him Suffer. hurt/comfort is a very superior trope and he is my sacrificial lamb to the angst gods

so idk much abt lovecraftian eldritch monsters (i know of the lore pretty vaguely) bc i am a Fool so idk how much u based ur plot on it but basically any eldritch lore dump is appreciated either way bc of that.

also ghost crumbling at peer pressure? now i feel that. well i think u meant more like a threatening sort of pressure rather than friendly jabbing but it's a lot more funnier when u consider ghost being exposed to peer pressuring and going. uh, ok. LMAO anyway it's also a v beautiful irony that a being that feeds off of fear doesn't welcome it in the parts of his life that he is the most vulnerable in so chefs kiss for that

his true form!!!! i was already guessing this bc it's pretty much implied i feel like but!!! does this mean, when ghost got captured by zaragoza he was in his true form? what are the dimensions even? and!!!! simon saw him like that? could 141 ever get a chance to see him like that, like can he leave simon's body and then come back? (i won't accept the answer of they will but he'll have to completely leave simons body, no sir. simon is along for the ride alive or dead, whether he wants to or not) (talk abt ride or die but die is optional while ride is mandatory)

more importantly, i'm like v v v obsessed with thinking abt simon's pov on first seeing ghost and how his opinion would've changed had the situation been more normal when they first met? like... is he also inherently a monsterfucker? anyway i have yet again wrote walls of text abt this fic so. i'll wander off and touch some grass before my brain explodes. i'm just. obsessed with all this. a tad too much perhaps so this ask is now ur problem. have fun

The hows and the whys and the whens of Roach and Ghost's relationship have pretty similar answers actually, it'll make sense when I get there hopefully. And I hope that it's as good as you're imagining!

Hurt/comfort ngl is one of my favorite tropes, and I love giving characters trauma and breaking them down and mending them back together and seeing how I can mend them

And don't worry about knowing the lore, as with most fanfiction I'm taking Lovecraft and his genre's works and kinda ripping it apart for juicy bits, though I'm trying to keep the overall impressions. The feeding on different emotions/things is entirely my own idea because I honestly needed some way to nerf Ghost since Lovecraft never elaborates on how his eldritch beings function, so I gave them a food source. The whole possession aspect is actually based on one of Lovecraft's characters though I filled in my own blanks (LC loves being vague for The Horror) and Ghost's parents are also eldritch horrors that are mentioned in his and others' works. Cthulhu also exists in this fic and is actually Ghost's nephew geneology wise! Thats gonna become important in the next chapter ;)

And yesss the fact that Ghost feeds on fear doesnt make him immune to it

And yes! Ghost was in his true form when he was captured by the cartel, though since he was weak he was smaller than normal (he stretches like silly putty). I put a lot of lore and background into each chapter so I'm never sure how much readers remember/understand especially if its spread out. Size wise during the cartel he was probably at least the size of a car, normally he's maybe the size of a six story building? He's actually pretty small compared to some of his kind

And yes, Simon saw him like that and was like "neat, I'm gonna make a deal with this thing because I was the cartel to Burn" and Ghost immediately vibed with that

Would you believe that I'm toying with the idea of the 141 seeing his true form in the main fic? Its gonna be very near the end, and there's a lot of angsty implications regarding it because remember, Simon's dead. Without Ghost to keep his body, well, alive and functioning what happens to a dead body?

Absolutely iconic question and I'd very much believe that Simon is definitely a monsterfucker. He's seen so many human monsters that it imagine its somewhat of a relief and very attractive for him to see a monster not trying to hide what they are. You're also giving me very naughty threesome Ghost/Simon/Soap ideas

And friend, dear mutual, I have absolutely no clue how to fix the brainrot as its infected me as well! And again with giving me ideas!! I was soo close to starting a new 141 fic focusing on Roach for mermay you have no idea, might come to your ask box and ramble at you about it

You know Venom, yes? This idea is giving very Venom movie vibes. Because Ghost is a hardass and he'd cave eventually and end up possessing the people that Shepherd brought in as cannon fodder but he wouldn't gel with them and since he's very prideful he's end up ripping them to shreds over and over. Until Simon. Until Shepherd captured Simon and they gel and Simon and Ghost bond and the 141 come to save them. The team finds out about Ghost and they just slowly introduce him to the world and help him heal and take him on missions

Shinki Names. Part 1

I should probably add a disclaimer that I don't know Japanese. I did spend a lot of time looking up all the kanji though and also consulted someone who does know some Japanese

A name is one the most important things a human can have. In ancient times, it was used to separate humans from nature, to guard them from evil spirits. Nowadays it’s more of a necessity, a primary part of one’s identity; a person without a name virtually doesn’t exist in the society.

In Noragami names, their meanings and functions are key elements of the magic universe created by Adachitoka. This two-parter is devoted to one of the name groups present in the manga – those belonging to shinki.

General rules of forming

Since shinki names are a part of Noragami’s magic system, there are certain rules for making them up. Many (if not most) of the readers of this post must already know those rules but I’ll list them just in case.

1. A shinki’s name is always (well, almost always, but we’ll get to that in Part 2) is written using a single kanji – a character that came into Japanese from Chinese. A kanji can have several meanings, one of which is chosen to be the name. The meaning’s two respective readings become two shinki names: kun-yomi, or Japanese native reading, refers to a shinki as a person while on-yomi, or Chinese sound reading, refers to their instrument name.

2. Even though shinki names are represented on their bodies by a single kanji, the kanji reading isn’t generally used as a name on its own. Another kanji is added to the kanji forming a shinki’s personal name to make yobina, which is the name a god uses when referring to their shinki in everyday life. Generally it’s a kanji that the gods use towards all of their shinki, i.e. their family/clan name. Here are examples of family names in Noragami:

音 – “ne”, Yato’s shinki’s family name. Means “sound”.

喩 – «yu», Tenjin’s shinki’s family name. Means “metaphor”.

大 – «dai», Kofuku’s shinki’s family name. Means “great”. The only prefix in this list.

麻 – «ma», Bishamon’s shinki’s former family name. Means “flax”.

巴 – «ha», Bishamon’s shinki’s current family name. See the meaning in the family names paragraph.

弥 – «mi», Ebisu’s shinki’s family name. When read as “mi” isn’t really a noun. One of the meanings is “more and more”.

云 – «un», Takemikazuchi’s shinki’s family name. Means “cloud”, “to talk”.

Known exceptions:

Noras: three out of four of Nora’s known names – Hiiro, Eyami, Mizuchi – do not include a family name (“chi” in “Mizuchi” isn’t actually a kanji for a family name, it’s part of kanji 螭's reading). Tenjin also refused to give Kugaha the “yu” clan name when gave him the name “Saku”;

Sakura and Nana, who aren’t noras but still have no family names;

Daikoku and Daigo – their clan name is added to their instrument name, not their name as a person

3. The instrument name also isn’t used on its own: kanji “ki” 器 (“instrument”) is added to it. As seen in the manga, characters in Noragami prefer to use “name + ki” when talking about a shinki’s instrument form.

Keeping these rules in mind, I’ve made this table that I borrowed from Wiki and expanded upon:

On the one hand, it seems like there’s no common theme in the names of the shinki belonging to the same god. There’s also no connection between a shinki’s name and instrument form in most cases. All in all, gods appear to name their shinki intuitively without actually thinking much about the meaning of the name. If we take Yato’s shinki as an example, three of them were named based on whatever Yato saw nearby: Yuki (snow) – it was snowing that day; Tomone (partner) – he just wished for someone to stay beside him; Sakura (sakura) – they met under a sakura tree. Momo has got a name that actually corresponds to his instrumet form – 100-yen store scissors; Hiiro’s (scarlet) and Kazune’s (calendar) seem to be a little more symbolical. Father, on the other hand, seems to be the only one to choose the names of his shinki deliberately. He gave Mizuchi the name of the monster that she turns into as an ayakashi; Edachi is literally his “servant”; and now he has Hagusa as well, “something that appears good, but isn’t”.

On the other hand, everything is not as simple as it seems. For example, look at these two translation notes about Nana’s name (Volume 16):

Moreover, “shi” means “death” in Japanese. Anything that sounds like “shi” has a connotation of “death”. A warrior is also “shi”. Number 4 is “shi”, number 7 is “shichi”. The Japanese mostly say 4 and 7 in kun-yomi in order to avoid saying “death” as much as possible. Bishamon, on the contrary, invites it. She is a warrior (“shi”), calling “shichi” to her service by her instrument name (on-yomi) – all of that does not bode well for any Japanese.

And here’s another example with Kiun’s name form Volume 17. When he recalls the day he was named by Take, he says that he was given “a very noble name” Ki.

Yellow is also the color of Amaterasu and her descendants, the Imperial dynasty. There are even several shades of yellow that can be used for dyeing the emperor’s clothes only.

So the reason why there’s no clear theme in the names of shinki of the same god and why they usually have nothing to do with shinki’s instrument forms is because each name has unique circumstances that surround it.

(BTW, regarding the “seven tools”: it’s a little far-fetched, but Yato technically has all of them as well. Yukine is his long sword and short sword while Kazuma is the rest – clothes (armor), bow, arrows, the scarf that also covers his head (helmet & cloak), and katana, because sure, why not).

Naming incantations

To give shinki a name, either for the first time or to someone who’s had a name before, a special incantation needs to be used.

This translation note was super helpful back when I first started reading Noragami. However, it was made in Volume 1, when little to nothing was known about the significance of names in the lore of Noragami, so I’m going to update it a bit.

Apparently, imina is the real name of a deceased person or a noble that is changed to a posthumous name; a forbidden, avoided name. Early on, before I reached the part with the gods’ greatest secret, I assumed that imina referred to the kun-yomi reading of a shinki’s name (like Yuki for Yukine). I thought that the reason gods added a family name to the kun-yomi reading was, just like it says in this note, to avoid the repetition of that name. But then there are noras, who almost always don’t get a family name, and shinki like Sakura and Nana, who are not noras and still don’t have family names either. So imina can’t possibly be the kun-yomi reading - if it really is an “avoided name” that shouldn’t be used for any purpose other than reverting a shinki from their instrument form, surely gods wouldn’t risk using it as a yobina (the name the gods call their shinki in everyday life, like Yukine) as well? That’s why I think that the first two lines of the incantation are a literal description of how the god’s greatest secret works. The god “grasps”, i.e. learns and conceals, a deceased person’s actual name – grasping thy true name, I bind thee here – and replaces it with the name that he/she makes up for that person – with borrowed name, I dub thee my servant. Karina, or the borrowed name, is the one that seals away the true name that should never be spoken. Lines 3 and 4 are pretty much an instruction for using a shinki. And the part about “mei” meaning both “command” and “destiny”,“life” explains why the last line was translated as “I use my life to make you my servant” in the anime. Wiki says that the reason why gods and shinki have this connection that can end up killing the god is because they use their life to create shinki, and I support the notion. After all, if there’s a line or word in Noragami that has more than one meaning, it’s 99% chance that it’s intentional. The last line shows that a shinki isn’t just a servant but a huge responsibility that a god may end up paying for with their life.

There aren’t any specific conditions to be met when naming a shinki (apart from the fact that a corrupted soul can’t become one, and even that’s… debatable); a spirit can receive a name voluntarily or forcefully. With regular ghosts who get a name for the first time it’s often not consensual since they don’t even know that’s a possibility (though there’s actually a cute scene in which Yato tries to persuade an old lady spirit to become his shinki freely). A shinki who has been released before can ask another god to name them, like Sakura did. Or, they can ask for a name without being released and become a nora. Finally, a god can forcefully give a name to a shinki who’s already serving another god, which is what Tenjin did to Kugaha. This, however, doesn’t mean that a shinki is defenseless against a god who wants to name them against their will, as shown in this scene with Yato, who wanted to make Kazuma a nora “for a bit” but helped him learn how to use borderlines instead:

Another interesting detail regarding the naming incantation is that it can only be used once – a god doesn’t get to name their former shinki for a second time (chapter 72).

Apart from the naming incantation used on shinki, there’s also a similar one for ayakashi (chapter 27).

The name Ebisu gives the ayakashi is Ryōki (菱鬼).It sounds like a shinki name (Mineha’s instrument name is also Ryōki), except here “ki” means “ghost”, “demon”. The first two lines of the incantation are very similar to the one used on shinki. Which is strange if you think about it, ‘cause unlike shinki, ayakashi don’t really have a name that must be concealed. Though they are born from human emotions, and some of them are even former humans (former shinki), so maybe that’s it. The difference in the first two lines of the two incantations is that an ayakashi is also tied to a mask. And there’s an entire translation note to be made about the rest of it.

The “one visage” probably really is the god using the incantation since Ebisu seemed to get blighted by his ayakashi the way shinki sting their masters when they sin – not on a surface level but with a deep, indelible blight.

Also, an ayakashi gets only one name, not two.

Finally, there’s also a hybrid incantation Father used in chapter 84 in combination with kotonoha to give names to shinki who started turning into ayakashi.

The first lines aren’t shown but they are probably the same as the ones in the regular incantation. Like any other shinki, Hagusa receives two names, as a person and as an instrument. The part resembling the incantation for naming ayakashi is the line about “obeying one name”, though with ayakashi it was “one face”. The last line is unique to this version of the incantation – using the kotonoha, Father orders Hagusa to retain his human form (in fact, we don’t know for sure if the incantation is actually necessary or if Father is simply imitating the gods while the only thing really needed for the naming is the brush).

Family names

Kazuma explains the existence of family names in chapter 18.

As mentioned earlier, “ne” and “yu” mean “sound” and “metaphor” respectively. The reason for the “ne” name, as we know, is very personal, while “yu” might have something to do with Tanjin being the god of learning and also a poet in his human life. Explaining the “ha” name will take a little longer.

Kazuma might think that family name is “really nothing”, but gods would clearly disagree. One of the things indicating that they don’t consider a family name “a nothing” is refusing to give one to noras. Tenjin did not give Kugaha the “yu” name when made him his nora Saku. Nora only has one name that has a family name attached to it – Tsutsumi, which she received from Ebisu. Ebisu himself is an exception though since he would name any shinki capable of drawing a borderline, so all of his shinki have the “mi” name, whether they are a nora or not. Another exception is Kazune but that is a special case since Yato and Kazuma have known each other for a long time; no wonder Yato decided to give Kazuma his family name.

Yato’s first two shinki, Sakura and Hiiro, didn’t have family names either, but that’s because Yato didn’t know he could or was supposed to give them one. Kazuma’s guess about creating a family bond through a common name is also correct – Bishamon explicitly states she doesn’t want to give Nana the “ha” name ‘cause she doesn’t want to become too attached to the girl who’s supposed to be her “disposable” weapon.

Finally, gauging the importance of a family name without knowing its backstory is hasteful. Yato’s family name “ne” simply meaning “sound” doesn’t seem to be very important at first. But to Yato it’s more than just a sound:

And Bishamon had a similar reason for not giving Kazuma the “ha” name after the Ma clan was wiped out.

This makes the names Father gives to his shinki – like Mizuchi and Edachi - all the more interesting. They sound like they have a family name “chi” but are actually written with a single kanji. So Father is basically creating an illusion of a family name that isn’t there. Another notable thing is that he did not choose a name ending with –chi for Hagusa. Does it mean that Father doesn’t want to make him a part of this “family”, however fake it is?

Summoning a shinki

To summon a shinki, all you need to do is call their instrument name. There are some nuances though. Firstly, sometimes shinki can have a delayed response, like how Yukine only answered to Yato’s call after his second attempt in chapter 26.

It’s hard to tell whether all shinki are capable of this. Yukine is a hafuri here, so we can’t be sure if his new status affects his ability to resist his master’s call or not. It’s also not clear if Yukine decided to help out on his own or if he couldn’t refuse his nature as an instrument after all. There are, however, other instances of shinki not coming after being summoned. Takemikazuchi’s senior shinki outright refused to respond to his call the night they killed him:

And then there’s Kiun who apparently can simply sleep through being summoned.

The reason why this is important is because it influences our understanding of the nature of the bond between a god and a shinki and shinki’s level of autonomy. Are shinki bound to transform because of a magical contract embodied in their name, or can they choose freely? The second option suggests a more trust-based connection between shinki and their masters. If they are able to ignore the summoning but willingly come to the gods’ aid without questioning the need to do so, it means they want to support their masters no matter what. New shinki can’t resist the call though, as seen here:

Secondly, there’s an entire group a shinki who definitely can choose whether to respond to a call or not – noras. Hiiro ignored Yato several times: when Yato and Ebisu called her at the same time, she chose Ebisu; when Yato was calling for her to fight off the masked ayakashi, she did not respond.

Noras’ ability to choose if they want to take their instrument form or not makes sense regardless of whether it’s something all shinki can do or just them. Even if they are magically bound to transform when called, in a situation with two masters summoning then at the same time they will have to do something eventually. If they can’t ignore the summoning and also can’t split into two different instruments, it makes sense that they’d be at least able to choose whose call to answer. And as for Hiiro ignoring Yato’s call in a situation where there was no need to choose, there are several different explanations here. Maybe the ability to choose is simply always present for them, even when they aren’t summoned by two gods at the same time. After all, noras are resistant to name-binding spells in general. Another explanation can be that Hiiro is a half-shinki, half-yakashi who was named using the kotonoha. If her bond with Father is stronger than with any of her other masters because of that, then no wonder ignoring Yato was so easy for her.

Another thing I’m curious about is long-distance summoning. It wasn’t a thing in the beginning of the series – Yato did not call for Sekki when Kugaha attacked him near Suzuha’s sakura tree; the seven gods of fortune didn’t even try to summon their shinki when they were under arrest by the Heaven’s guard. However, Takemikazuchi calls his shinki from Takamagahara to Earth like no big deal (well, except for Kiun, who overslept).

And he also expects them to appear in Takamagahara if he summons them there:

I can see two possibilities here. 1) There had to be a reason why gods didn’t try to summon their shinki in the the cases mentioned. Like Yato not wanting Yukine to find out that Suzuha was dead, or the seven gods of fortune not wanting to get their shinki into trouble with the Heavens. 2) Adachitoka didn’t think of long-distance summoning in the beginning of the series and added it later.

Finally, shinki only answer to their master. Someone else pronouncing their name as an instrument or name as a person won’t work. There’s only one exception – the ruler of Heavens, the goddess of sun Amaterasu, who knows the name of all the gods and shinki and can call them. She was able to summon Sekki to put him into the box where he was supposed to spend the rest of the eternity. She also reverted Kokki by calling his name “Kuro” when she saw how he was trying to do something on the ground.

Releasing shinki from the name

Gods can release their shinki on their own will and upon request; no special incantation is needed. All a god needs to do is to write the name in the air and say that they release their shinki. After that the kanji tattooed on the shinki’s skin breaks and vanishes.

A released shinki looses their abilities (such as using borderlines) until they find themselves a new master but other than that the procedure is harmless.

However, there’s also Liberation, which breaks shinki names forcefully. Saying their original human name in the presence of a shinki or a direct question about the cause of their death leads revealing the gods’ greatest secret. That destroys their god-given name and the shinki turns into an ayakashi under the weight of all the regrets about the life they could have lived. There are only two shinki known to have survived the Liberation – Nana and Mizuchi. Mizuchi can even reveal the secret herself, although that power seems to be limited to her Chiki form.

Finally, there’s another unpleasant aspect of the lore that’s tied to releasing a shinki: if a god vanishes before taking the name from their servant, that name still remains. It’s one of the reasons some shinki end up being noras – a name no one can call is useless, so the only way to get a home and a shelter from ayakashi is to find another master. It’s not as easy as it sounds since the gods’ distaste towards noras is so strong that simply having a name given by another god is a reason enough not to take in an abandoned shinki.

Conclusion

I think it’s brilliant – to use the linguistic peculiarities of the Japanese language to form this unbelievably interesting and probably one the most memorable aspects of the magic system. I’m even more amazed at how much significance it has for the plot and characterization of the manga’s, well, characters. This theme will probably be further developed in the series, so I can’t wait to read new chapters of Noragami to find out other secrets of shinki names that Adachitoka have in store for us.

Top 10 Games of 2020

Time again for PawelCyril/SodaPaladin’s GOTY 2020 countdown! As usual, these are not games that came out in 2020, but games that I played in 2020. At least when it came to gaming, I had a great year.

Honorable Mentions: Final Fantasy VIII: I loved everything about this game except for the actual gameplay. I didn’t enjoy the battle system one bit. Far too many flawed ideas. But everything else was so enjoyable. The story was cheesy and ridiculous, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It might actually be my favorite main Final Fantasy.

Fall Guys: This TV show-esque challenge is tons of fun with friends, even though I’ve still yet to win a single time. See Saw is the worst game, btw, and if you like it, I hate you. :)

Sonic Mania: Best Sonic game in years that made me smile from ear to ear, but I forgot if I played it this year or last year, so I’ll put it here haha.

10. Super Metroid: I finally played my “first” Metroid game after years of friends badgering me, and they were right. It’s a good game. I’m not as wild about the music and map design as some people, but it is indeed a fun game that holds up well. The atmosphere of the ghost ship was incredible.

9: Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution: I’m a casual Yugioh fan at best, having not played since the GX era. I like the original manga and first few anime series, but everything in the past decade is a mystery to me. Feeling nostalgic, I bought this hoping it wouldn’t be too overwhelming, and was pleasantly surprised with how accessible it is to all sorts of fans. There are tons of cards and opponents from all eras of Yugioh. I’ve learned to play with the new abilities, and can also enjoy the rules like I’m used to by playing through Duelist Kingdom. I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I do, but I could easily put dozens of more hours in.

8: Ogre Battle 64: I’m still apparently near the beginning of this game after 40 hours, because I’m the slowest gamer on earth, but I’m enjoying every minute of it. While I love strategy games, they tend to be turn-based. This RTS RPG has been super satisfying.

7: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night: It’s exactly what I expected it to be: Symphony of the Night 2. And that’s a good thing. I have some minor gripes with the bloated inventory and crafting systems, but the core exploration is a joy.

6: Super Mario Odyssey: Of course it’s great. I’m sure everybody knows this already, so I don’t have much to say. The amount of love put into all of the costume references made me smile with each one. Rocking the Picross explorer suit!

5: Persona 5 Royal: I hadn’t put too much time into the vanilla P5, so I figured I may as well play the definitive version when I saw it on sale. I have loads of complaints about the story, characters, and abysmal pacing, but despite all of that, it’s still a stylish, fun game that I’m enjoying a lot.

4: Animal Crossing New Horizons: You all knew this would be on here. The timing for this game was perfect. I haven’t touched it in a couple months now only because I know I’ll get sucked back in, and I’ve already put in a couple hundred hours.

3: Street Fighter III: Third Strike: Never expected to get into fighting games this year, but here we are. I picked up the SF Anniversary Collection on a whim because it was a sale. I mainly intended to play SF2, the one I’m most familiar with, but gave Third Strike a try because my good friend @arkthepieking recommended it. I can see why. This game is smooth. I’ve since tried other fighting games to recapture that magic, but I started with the best. The intrinsic motivation of winning through your own skill, from hard work and practice, is such a great feeling. Makoto forever.

2: Moon: Remix RPG Adventure: As a fan of Chulip, I had been curious about Moon for a long time, and I’m so happy it finally was released in English. It’s exactly what I hoped it would be: Chulip 0. The core ideas are still there, but better executed due to being less punishing. The music system where you buy CDs was a fun, novel idea at the time, and the atmosphere as a whole is charming. It’s an incredible, unique experience that I don’t think everyone would enjoy, but those who give it a chance may discover something wonderful.

1: Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling: Sometimes with spiritual successor fan games, I can’t help but feel I’d rather play the original. Like I love WarGroove, but it doesn’t quite scratch the same itch as just playing Advance Wars sometimes. I expected Bug Fables to be a cute love letter to Paper Mario, but it blew my expectations away. I would dare say it even surpasses Paper Mario in many ways. Everything about it is a delight. The story, the characters, the battles, the music, and the setting. There are tons of sidequests for backstory and lore, too. The main trio are so likeable, each having their own motivations and feeling like the main character of their own story, and I’m amazed at how naturally they warmed up to each other over the course of the game. Bug Fables may be one of my favorite games period, and I cannot emphasize enough how much I love it.

Hello. I have a question, and it may seem weird. But is it confirmed that Jensen’s new character is Dean possessed by something? or does everyone just assume that? Because Judging on the pictures we’ve seen of him as the new character, his outfit is pretty ‘old timey,’ you’d think if he was possessed that whoever/whatever possessing him would just wear whatever Dean is wearing at the time right? Or am I wrong and looking too much into it?

I’m sorry for only replying so late and also only with this short reply, but I am truly so short on time due to traveling for work atm that in my days off I just have so much other stuff to do and plan prior JIB that I simply can’t be online as much atm. So sorry again! *hugs*

Given the latest episode I personally think that we will likely end this season on a mixture of endings such as in S8 and S9. I get the feeling that possibly none of the main characters will actually end the season in the same place, but will each face their respective “all goes to hell”-moment. And with that I don’t mean they are in different universes, but they’ll be split up and each of them focused on a different obstacle. And I also kind of think that the Apocalypse World thing may not be resolved this season.

But to make it a bit easier, I’ll give you some things I could imagine happening in S14 or the end of S13 that takes us over to S14 and that being things I’d pick to explore if I was to be part of the writing team.

Judging from official descriptions it seems that in 13x21 the Winchesters may enter Apocalypse World once more and trying to bring Mary and Jack back. From spoilers we know however that won’t go as smoothly as expected because Mary seems to see that world as her form of purgatory and doesn’t want to go back. Futhermore in 22 apparently they plan on saving lots of innocents which I suppose could mean they will try to bring all of the resistence over to the normal SPN world including Kevin, Bobby, etc.. At the same time it seems Rowena is dealing with Lucifer in some way as the official description for 13x22 says that Rowena’s interaction with Lucifer will have an effect on the outcome of the journey for one of our heroes. Now question is does journey mean the journey to the other world or their story in a broader sense? In any case the hook line is called “hitching a ride” which at the very least feels ominously alluding to possession or something like Dean carrying Benny out of purgatory in his arm. That said based on these infos I could imagine that

a) Lucifer may be wounded ot even dead after his confrontation with Rowena, which is the reason for

b) the last bits of his power keeping Heaven stable enough (where was he btw? because he seemed to not have been in Heaven since the whole low on bettary thing and lights flickering wasn’t a thing when he was around) are gone and Heaven would fall and that leading to

c) all souls kept in Heaven crashing to earth and causing chaos - and the show using a parallel to how it was in S9 with the angels that possibly some of those ghosts, because they are unable to deal with this opt for possession.

d) the falling souls thing would be of course another perfect possibility to bring back deceased characters (this is also where I could imagine the show truly got JDM for some short scene as John), but much more than that truly re-arrange the whole natural order (and with that also give Death a whole lot more trouble), because

e) with Heaven falling and apparently Hell being run by no one, I think they could really let a few big bads come out to play from Hell.

f) Furthermore Heaven falling and God remaining absent and Jake possibly also staying back in the AU would make for a blank in power structure that so far jas been filed by everything christian belief/lore and in that regard Gabriel going after demigods of other cultures and beliefs feels important, because those smaller religions, etc. could be filling that blank space.

And that brings me to the main characters and what may be in store for them. The least ideas I have for Sam’s story tbh, but I think whatever it will be it will be tied to Rowena and witchcraft (possibly even his psychic abilities coming back or his demon blood addiction playing a role again) since for seasons the show has been framing Sam with witchcraft in particular and with Rowena as well.

Cas I could imagine is either the one to finally remember there exists another archangel in their universe that they may try and contact and in so far could be trying to rise Michael from the cage in a desperate attempt or could even go as far as tyring to reach back to the Empty and get that place’s entity to allow more angels to return. In any case they will make this angels dying out thing a very personal journey for Cas I assume.

And last but not least there is Dean and that is probably who everybody is thinking about most and while the show has been alluding to Michael!Dean or Death!/Reaper!Dean or more generally Dean dying quite heavily I think it will be none of that or at the very least in the shape we have come to know.

As I have said before on this topic of spoilery pics from set and that Jensen posted himself, the vibe I am getting is that whoever Jensen plays is something/someone that hasn’t been walking earth in a long time or never (really, their “it’s someone from a while back” could just be distraction). Just look wise I fangirled over the outfit because as a massive Peaky Blinders fan it reminded me a great deal of those costumes, but moreover reminded me also of “Baron Samedi” (who could fit the bill of someone from way back and something related to Death).

At the moment I think that what- or whoever Jensen will play (and of course they could truly just opt for a doppelgänger plot with Hevane falling and possibly different world collapsing someone looking like Dean but not being Dean could pop up, but I think this is a more unlikely possibility) is a creture/character that only comes into being due to the situation and blanks left by Heaven going out of business and there needing to be someone to “guide those souls” to their new resting place. If they wanted to they could perfectly use Baron Samedi like figure here to do that. Now question is why that creature would look like Dean but dress differently or would chose Dean as his vessel. I have no good explanation or idea, but it could be the Billie as Death knows Dean’s expertise in that regard and knows something will come - she was very interested truly about what would happen if Sam died (you could even argue that Sam getting hurt/death could have brought about the chnge in Dean Billie is after - again I don’t think Billie will survive this season) - and that Dean would be the right one for the job. More generally I think Dean is in a mindset where he would make a deal - even possession of some sort - if it meant they could save the world. Also, reapers are supposedly a league of angels, couldn’t they possibly be “promoted” to angels and power Heaven and therefore someon who has worked as a reaper before filling their place? Anyway...

So to answer your first anons questions (and this really just a brief collection of ideas I have, I could also imagine Cas trying to get some angels from AU to this world for example, but there are so many ideas but I can’t get them in order or at least can see them work on their own but nor woven together, so I left those out)

All that said if I had to take over from here on out, I would work with Heaven falling and the aftermath of that and explore that. Likewise one would also have to take a look at the state of Hell, because who runs that atm? I’d stick to this main thing and would work everything around that in terms of personal arcs and would chuck the million tiny stories Dabb opens up with each new episode without resolving or truly takin time to develop them.

And now to the second ask. No, I don’t think it was said anywhere that Dean will get possessed. It is just based on allusions throughout the season one could think that was foreshadowing, but also it would be the easiest explanation and the current staff seems to go with the most obvious options. But no, in general it could be someone who looks like Dean or appears in his shape, but is not possessing Dean. If Jensen playing someone else than Dean and Dean disappearing would be a dead serious confirmation imo that this mini arc won’t last longer than 3 episodes or 4 at most, because the show simply cannot function without Dean as Dean, because Dean builds the emotional core and serves as the narrartor of the show, so if he isn’t there, the show lacks it’s heart and soul. That is not to say Sam isn’t important or that Cas isn’t, but I am saying this without any maliciousness involved, the show can function and has shown to function when they are not around as Cas or Sam (see all the times we had Not!Sam or Not!Cas), but that would not be the case with Dean. He is the stepping stone and core of it all holding it together, so... I’d be surprised if the show went with Dean not being Dean for much longer.

Creating belief systems and religions in your fiction

Perhaps you need to flesh out an elaborate, convoluted system of religions and philosophies. Perhaps you just need a facade, with a few bits of detail to give it the feel of depth. The kind of belief system you write into your novel--or the presence of one at all--will rely heavily upon the scope of your book and the world it’s set in. So take these questions, prompts, thoughts, etc. and use them as you see fit. You might only want a handful of things, or you might find it beneficial to go through the whole list. It’s all about what you and your story need. :)

The First Big Questions

What are the belief bullet-points of your religion? Those bullet-points might answer these questions:

Why do we exist (in this dimension/plane/world/time)?

How did the world begin, who/what was responsible for its creation?

What are the primary ethical standards?

Are there deities? How many?

What rituals are of great importance or are very common?

What level of commitment or service is expected of adherents?

Are its basic facts and stories true? Literally? Symbolic or metaphorically? Partially? Not true at all? How much doubt is there among believers? Skeptics? If its based mostly on unsubstantiated folklore, how has it survived (see next point)?

How long has the religion survived? How adaptable is it to change? If it has persisted through generations, especially primitive ones, then it will likely appeal to people’s basic needs, while also drawing from some sense of inherent “goodness.”

Do the fundamentals of the belief system fit into a variety of cultures? As technology changes, as the people expand and grow, what elements of the religion’s core give it the ability to survive?

Does it reinforce or justify any social system or hierarchy?

How does it encourage or even dictate health and safety among its adherents? If a great deal of time has passed, how have these guidelines morphed, if at all?

What kind of promise does it offer to its people to ensure its own survival? Power? Immortality? Knowledge? Enlightenment? Acceptance? Provision of needs? Wealth?

Deities

Are there gods at all? If not, is there some cosmic, ultimately powerful force that has a hand in the universe, events, histories? If not, what is the religion formed around instead?

How many gods are there? Is there a hierarchy among them, or are they all equal?

Are they immortal? Do they reincarnate? Hand over the title?

Are they as important as they think they are?

Do they live in this realm or elsewhere?

Have they interacted with people on a personal level? How often?

What do they do to maintain their authority?

Are there any rivalries or relationships between the gods? How does this affect their areas of rule or the politics of their followers?

Are they mystic and distant, or do they have much more relatable, casual personalities?

Are there cosmic enemies of the deities? Demons? Angels? Spirits? Where do these enemies live and how do they relate to the people of the world?

How strict are they about the behavior of their followers? If there are multiple gods, do their rules of adherence vary?

Do the various deities rule over particular groups, activities, elements, or ideas? Why? How is this implemented?

Try to think of the box a little here. Consider your culture and what kinds of division among the ruling deities would make sense in their setting.

Do some deities share responsibilities? How does that affect their relationship? The stability of that idea/activity/group/element?

In what light do the gods view their constituents?

Do the gods have varying morality, or are they all strictly good and evil?

Followers/Believers/Adherents

How are new believers converted?

Can people from all classes/sects/families be followers? Or is it reserved for specific people?

When a religion has vast groups of followers, there will inevitably be differences and disagreements among them. What philosophical or practical differences do people tend to have?

Letter of the law vs. Spirit of the law

Tradition vs. Adaptation to the times

Interpretation of stories, metaphors, lessons, poetry

Reasons behind following, good for me vs. good for the world

Casual believer vs. Devote believer

Disagreement of number of deities, importance of minor deities

Reverence of prophets, priests, apostles, etc.

What is the cost for followers?

Sanderson’s Second Law of magic can apply here, too. The costs for following the religion can be far more interesting than the benefits...especially for us readers who aren’t actually living it.

What benefits, if any, do the adherents receive on a day-to-day basis?

Is there are level of mortals (or adherents, in general) who, by some act or interaction, have been elevated to a plane above other people? How revered are these select among other believers? Do others believe them at all?

Other Elements to Consider

Prevalent Folklore, Parables, Myths, Stories

There will likely be stories that permeate the culture. They’re told to children to illustrate lessons, used to pass on histories, illustrate complicated ideas...and if these are important to the world or to your characters, elements of them will seep into everyday conversation.

Write out or outline a handful of stories that are the most important to your religion.

Consider what characters of these old stories would stick out (especially to children) as the heroes. Their names, if not their legacies, will be easily recognized and possibly referenced in conversation or pop culture.

Organization of Religion

Is there a very organized church? Maintained rituals, buildings, or monuments? Many religions have a “leader” and a hierarchy system beneath, but others are a body of people with no one more important than the other. Still others are quite independent and rely on one’s internal devoutness or thought, utterly regardless of others who practice the religion.

Literature, Art, and Music

How integrated with contemporary art is the core of the belief? Or the stories? Can it be seen on murals or heard in street songs?

On the other side of that coin, is there a canon work of art, literature, poetry, or something else that contains the heart of the belief system? Like the Torah, Bible, Qu’ran, or Book of Mormon? How important is it to the average follower? How is it seen by society in general?

Belief is incredibly powerful

There are countless books about this subject (The End of Mr. Y by Scarlett Thomas is my fave, btw), and it will apply to the development of your own religion. Especially if it falls into the partially true or false categories. Religion is resilient and people can have opposition thrown in their face all day long, but at the end of it, something (often) keeps them faithful to their beliefs.

What is that something for your characters or your religion’s followers in general?

A few last questions:

What is the generally accepted or believed cosmology? Does it count as one of the “big” stories of the religion? Why or why not?

How is this religion viewed by those on the outside?

How do adherents view non-believers? Magic/Non-Magic? Other species?

Do priests/shamans/pastors/whatevers work for the church or organization full time? Do they have other jobs?

Are priests etc. allowed to have families? How much freedom do they have in general?

Does the duality of good and evil have a role? If so, is there disagreement among the believers as to what constitutes good and evil?

Do spirits or ghosts walk the earth, or are they believed to?

There is absolutely no reason that Kalista has been this neglected other than Riot made a champion that they didn’t know what to do with after they made them. It’s bs. The last time they got a skin was 2015, which, granted isn’t a huge amount of time but they haven’t ever gotten a skin that was entirely their own. Their fucking RELEASE skin was Blood Moon because that’s the only thing Riot’s ever needed them for to be a spooky ghost in the lore to join the ranks of Nocturne. Seriously since Ekko came out in September 2015 (About 5 months after Championship Kalista), he’s gotten 4 skins. (5 if you include his default, and AND he’s gotten a set of chromas) Since the same time (2015) Kalista’s gotten 2. (1 if you start at the same time as Ekko). AND Ekko got another skin (Academy Ekko, which is and ugly fucking set he is the only good one in there) not months after his initial release!

Sure there are other champions that started off with skins from a set (See Illaoi, Camille, technically Taliyah, Xayah, Rakan, ect) but there aren’t that many of them, and they tend to be newer champions which is that sad part!

Championship Kalista and SKT 1 Kalista came about for the same reason, 2015 was the last time anyone paid attention to them, and Blood Moon was I will admit a clever way to work them into the Ionian lore which needed a lot of support a while ago and has kind of filled out with the new Vastayan stuff and Jhin being from Ionia or something. But they have lore of their own(!) and near as I can tell the only reason they don’t get skins like the rest of the Shadow Isles champions is because they got KILLED BY THE REST OF THEM!! SO STOP FUCKING SHIPPING KALISTA AND THRESH!! I understand not wanting to give her the exact same skins as Thresh because they don’t want them to become a counterpart but there are Quite A Few ways to remedy this while still giving her skins

Update the Lore: That doesn’t mean redo them entirely and change everything, just give her a little more depth. I actually don’t even think this one should be necessary, because they have a vastly different character arc than Thresh, but not everyone knows the lore, so I get it, this wouldn’t help as much.

Give Her Skins That Thresh Doesn’t Have: Yeah what a fucking concept. I mean I think at this point pretty much everyone who plays Kalista has seen the super cool artwork of Arclight Kalista, or Sewn Chaos Kalista. Based on the “Behind the Scenes” videos Riot puts out it seems like a large factor that goes into skin design are if it would fit that champion thematically which I take to mean would the general themes of the skins fit with the champion lore wise or animation wise. (Leaning more heavily animation wise it seems) Sewn Chaos Kalista I would argue works even better than Sewn Chaos Oriana! what with the spears being needles and pins, they could look like a pin cushion.

This shouldn’t be hard to wrap your head around Riot, you make champions different by doing different things with them, not just ignoring one. And I understand that it’s not really profitable to make skins that no one will buy, but they make skins for Quinn so... (I’m just kidding that was a dig at my friend Kannie) But seriously, who bought Festival Queen Anivia? It was a lovely skin, she got a huge spot on the home page when it came out plus a cute animation, but she falls into the same category as Kalista as having a tiny userbase of dedicated fans! Festival Queen Anivia goes to show that you can make cool, original skins for champions that not many people play and still have it be well received, even on smaller scale.

(BTW in the realactual lore of the game Kalista, Akali and Shen are the only people who have any business having Blood Moon skins, Kalista being the actual spirit from the story and Shen and Akali being the actors in the performance at the Blood Moon festival. You can spout nonsense at me that Elise, Thresh and Zilean should have them because it’s how Ionians see them or whatever bullshit but they aren’t part of the Blood Moon lore, just Ionian lore. Tense: Third Person, Present (will do past if it’s super important to you)

Frequency: Depends, but if I’m at my comfort level I’ll probably be able to respond multiple times a day. Anything above that will of course take me longer.

Grammar and what not is kind of important I guess, but not as important as content. I’m not sure if this ad is really an accurate example of my writing potential as I’m just kind of spewing out whatever. That being said if you’re okay with the level this ad is written at, then you’ll probably be okay with my actual writing. If you’re not okay with it then, eh, take a chance?

As for my characters, I play Doms, Subs, and Switches and don’t really have a preference for one over another. Keep in mind that sometimes my subs are whiney, uke boys and sometimes they will twist your nips and call you a cuck. AKA my character’s personalities are not dependent on their position in bed, HOWEVER sometimes their personality will, coincidentally, line up with the stereotype of their position.

Just to show you kind of how my mind works. Feel free to ask for one of these (and add to them <3) or not. The summaries don’t indicate which character I want to play (because I’m mostly good with playing either) so let me know if you have a preference towards a character.

✧General✧

Sci-fi/Space Opera:

1. I have this alien race that are essentially gender neutral, like there’s no way to tell their gender unless you get in their pants. They pretty much consider even KNOWING what gender they are as extremely intimate and somewhat taboo. So they take forever to choose a mate and when they do it’s for life. I’d be pretty down for doing something with that.

2. A near-homeless man finds an old broken down robot behind one of his favorite restaurants. It’s an old, outdated model, but he thinks he can fix it up with just a little time.

Post-apocalypse:

The world is broken, it’s times like this when people need to come together to rebuild what was lost. Like that’s going to happen, every semi-competent faction is vying for control of more land, more money. Its times like THIS when smart people, really smart people can get ahead. That’s just what the tactician is doing. He’s a smart guy who’s never lost a battle and he’s up for grabs to any faction that’s willing to shell out the cash. However, smart guys like that tend to make enemies and the faction he’s working for insists he have a bodyguard.

Supernatural:

1. It’s an equal exchange, the vampire bites you and gets fed and the represents they release gives you the high of your life. It’s only good business to do it in a hotel room or something so you’re not tripping on the streets, but what happens when your vampiric dealer doesn’t want to leave. (I have a bit more to this world so just ask if you’re interested)

2. He’s always been a bit of a loner, a ghost to society. When he moves into his new apartment he doesn’t really see it as much of a change, until he lays down to sleep and feels hands running through his hair.

Medieval Historical/Medieval Fantasy:

1. (Medieval Fantasy) This was the big expedition, this cave was going to have all the riches of his dreams. The cave-in however, that wasn’t to be expected. These cave were abandoned right? So why can he feel something watching him.

2. (Medieval Fantasy) After 10,000 an evil necromancer awakens from the curse that paladin put on him, he’s ecstatic to find out his Orc bodyguard was cursed too. Now they can continues their plans for world conquest and also get some revenge.

3. (Medieval Historical) He’s a highwayman all he wants is your money or your life. One day an unsuspecting priest comes along and tries to bargain for his life with the word of God. It’s didn’t work, but something in his eyes kept him from killing the priest.

4. (Medieval Fantasy) Someone’s plotting to kill the king and all bets are on the shady court magician. There’s no proof though, so the king assigns personal servants to all within his court as a “gift” (to spy) Maybe the court magician isn’t as evil as everyone says….or maybe he’ll have his new servant face down in the gutter by tomorrow.

Modern Day:

1. He’s been crushing on the cute boy in his precalculus class since the semester started. He finally gets the never to ask him out, only to later find out that his love interest is a furry. What’s a furry?

2. He had no clue his dorm mate was a mass murderer, what even more surprising is that he’s in love with him. (Killing Stalking sort of thing)

3. Crime Bosses weren’t supposed to fall in love, especially not with someone in law enforcement, even if that “law enforcement” is a mall cop.

Historical:

I don’t really have any prompts of my own I just put this here to let you know I’m into this too. Do refrain from using real people from history, I’m not into that. (Including real events/facts is A+ tho.)

Superheroes (actually mostly villains) and stuff:

1. He’s the number one fan of the number one bad guy in the world. Sure he wants to see the world burn, but if the posters on this nerd’s wall say anything it’s that he wants to watch it burn too.

2. The boss isn’t the smartest guy around, but that’s why he’s here. His henchman and unofficial bodyguard, he’s content to let his boss run about with his foolish plans even if the ones in his own head are 10x better.

Warhammer 40k:

*While I’m not a super lore whore I will try to keep pretty close to it. This means that, yes, I expect any Space Marine characters to be impotent. But I mean hey have you SEEN the size of their fingers, I mean, tsk, come on…COME ON…*

1. A Tzeentch/Slaaneshi psyker finds an ancient deamonic staff of domination (it’s prolly Slaaneshi too, let’s be honest) which forces its user’s will on one other person. Being a whimpey little psyker he decides to use it on a chaos lord of Khorne, who is pretty upset about the whole thing, to say the least. (this is actually based off two of my O.C.s we can keep as close to their story, or as far from is as you’d like.)

2. Love can bloom…or it can violently explode within the chamber of an ancient Eldar long rifle. While exploring some ancient ruins one day, a lone rogue trader finds a discarded rifle on the floor. Upon picking it up he finds that it…speaks to him? It’s really got a tongue on it too, but hey it’s too awesome of a weapon to give up. (Yes this is a relationship between a man and the soul of an ancient Eldar that resides in a gun….)

Star Trek:

1. The son of a prominent Romulan commander abandons his duties and becomes a notorious smuggler. Now he’s on the run from the Tal’ Shiar (who are trying to drag him home), a Ferengi trader (whom he may or may not have sold faulty weapons to) and a Klingon bounty hunter (who he’s tempted to be captured by.)

2. Comfort women were a common sight within the quarters of Cardassian soldiers during the occupation. However, this Gul would rather seduce a known Bajoran resistance fighter. After all the greater the challenge, the greater the reward.

Star Wars:

1. An admiral is supposed to be reliable, smart, and efficient he is, after all, in command of an entire fleet of ships. This admiral, as CT-7465 has found out, is a little too young and laid back for the job. (Clone Wars Era)

2. They were supposed to stay together, best friends fighting side by side against the Sith, until he became a Sith. (Pre Prequels.)

Voltron:LD:

1. A Galra commander is dragged along by one of his friends to one of those ridiculous slave auctions. He expected to sit there bored as his friend lusted over all his new “options”. For the most part he was right, but why does that boy keep catching his eye? (A sort of sweet Galra bby)

2. A Galra commander is fed up with spending his nights alone, he needs someone to share his bed and he wants them to be perfect. So he picks up one of those slave order catalogues and starts filling in all his specifications. When his slave finally arrives, he’s not quite what was ordered. (An abusive Galra bby)

3. (Alt. Universe) The Human Empire dominates the galaxy under Emperor Shiro Takashi and a recently promoted chancellor now has the kind of money he needs to fulfil one of his most devious fantasies: owning a Galra pet.

Fallout:

I don’t really have any plots for this either, but I would absolutely love to do something in this universe!

Elder Scrolls:

He’s a nord: strong, hearty, well endowed, and he’s got Talos to thank for it. Now these elves come in and tell him Talos is no God, well that’s just not right. But the Thalmor agent that’s threatening his arrest is really, really handsome.

Dragon Age:

1. The Inquisitor is just a normal guy who happens to have a glowing hand. Completely normal right? And normal people don’t really find the company of extravagant Teventer mages and buff Qunari spies to be all that appealing (no matter how handsome they may be.) No, he needs someone simpler, someone who can remind him he’s still just a normal guy. (I don’t really consider the inquisitor to be a canon character b/c they’re kinda player based.)

2. Seheron belongs to no one but the ones who live here, he wishes the Qunari and the Teventers would learn that and leave his home alone. He’s getting sick of only feeling safe when the fog covers him. (Fog Warrior/Qunari Soldier)

W.o.W.:

Does it count as necrophilia if they’re Undead?

Blood elves are pompous stuck ups and orcs are barbaric savages, so why are they fighting on the same side?

Tokyo Ghoul: *Trigger Warning for suicidal thoughts*

A recent high-school graduate learns he’s contracted a terminal disease. His parents are too poor to afford treatment, in fact they’re too poor to support him or his four siblings. Since he’s going to die anyways, he might as well spare them the cost for the few months he has left. But he doesn’t like the idea of anyone else having to clean up his dead body. Maybe he can at least be useful in killing himself, ghouls eat people, right?

✧Tropes✧

Monsters: I love QT monster boys (slime boys, nagas etc.), but I also love big bara giants. My thing is either: their head and torso are humanoid and everything else can be whatever OR they have to be a full blown, all out monster (they have to have sentience though, I’m not into bestiality stuff.)

Size Difference (ranges from slight difference to HOLY HELL YOU ARE MASSIVE WTF I ONLY COME UP TO YOUR STOMACH): I love big bara boys who fall in love with small tiny babes. The big bara can be all super macho or whatever I’m into that too, but what I really, really like is when they’re a squishy romantic who is completely devoted to their bby. Like they are willing to do anything their tiny love says at a moment’s notice. Bonus if the tiny boy is an absolute argumentative spitfire.

Age Differences: I don’t care how big the age gap is so long as the youngest is 18 or older.

Hey, Listen: This seems like a good place to put one of those “if you’ve read this far” things, not that I expect everyone to. However, if you have read all this then put the words “coco for cocoa puffs” somewhere in your message to me. <3

Toxic Relationships: Physically or mentally abusive (or both). Things can either work out in the end with the abusive cunt changing their ways, or not. I’m good with either.

Angst: I’m completely okay with letting characters straight up die. If that’s not something you’re into just say so and we can keep it fairly happy. However, if it’s something you’re willing to do HIGHFIVE!

Hopeless romance: In complete contrast to Toxic relationships I’m also into 100% fluffy and supportive relationships (so long as they both go through some hell. Can’t keep things too happy)

One-Sided: I love when characters think they are in a hopelessly one-sided love (but in fact aren’t). What would make it even better is if they are casually having sex with each other (because their friends with benefits/ one of them thinks the other is imagining someone else/ whatever) while both of them are secretly in love with each other, but neither of them knows it. Love is confusing.

Yandere/Ice King: Self explanatory

Unlikely Lovers: This could be characters who hate each other, but are hopelessly attracted to each other, people on opposing sides (Good Guy/Bad Guy) who fall in love, or characters who hate each other at first due to prejudices (ex. Orc/Elf) but are forced to work together and fall in love along the way.

I am okay with gore and death and the eternal void so long as it’s fitting/ pre-planned/ we’ve been writing together for a while and you know what you want to do won’t upset me.

I’ve avoided doing it (I think) in this ad out of respect for other’s preferences, but I my cuss level is that of someone who has recently stubbed their pinkie toe against the corner of the bed. So, if you want to contact me please be okay with that, it’s understand able if you yourself don’t want to cuss, but don’t try and force that standard on me. (This goes for pretty much everything else involving ideals/morals)

Obviously, you have to be 18+, even though I kinda said that at the very beginning I want to say it again.
