My Personal Opinions on Minsung's Dynamic (2020)

Disclaimer: I am not trying to pass off my opinions as facts. This is my personal interpretation of what is laid out right in front of us. I could be completely off base because I don’t know these guys personally, so take this with a grain of salt and feel free to disagree!

I think it’s more than safe to say Lee Know and Han find each other attractive.

They don’t even try to hide it.

You really start to see it this year, especially from Han’s side (how the turn tables).

2020 was such a good year for them. You can tell that the guys are a lot more confident and vibrant, especially when you compare it to the latter half of 2019. I think Lee Know really starts to come into himself during Gods Menu era (like I mentioned previously), like his confidence here is another level. Compare him to his 2018 self and you'll really notice the difference.

But as I also mentioned before, Han’s attitude really changes this year.

First with the Osen Star Road video: Lee Know talks about working part-time at a restaurant flipping steak and Han blurts out “Flip me!” The members’ reactions to that are priceless if you replay that clip. His intrusive thoughts won that day.

Then there’s the Unlock concerts: the clip of him staring at LK through the giant monitor like he saw the galaxy and LK catching him in the process has me in stitches every time I watch it. (Almost foreshadowing to another instance where he does the same exact thing in 2023, but for a different reason 😉)

The fancam from Music Core during Gods Menu Era where Han literally fans himself right after he stares at LK.

And then casually calling him “Hot” as he films him in one of the SKZ talkers.

Last but not least, the “All in” clip where he goes “You” (Dangshin) after Lee Know asks “What have you been all in?”. Intrusive thoughts win again!!

And the feeling is mutual too.

During the Weekly Idol episode when Han does yet ANOTHER sexy dance, Lee Know tries to create an exaggerated, taken aback reaction much like what the other members are doing. (Some of them are playfully grossed out) But he can’t hold it for that long at all lmfao. Like, his body language completely betrays him. (Man literally says ‘wow’ and bites his lip skjdhaksjhkjashd)

Lee Know also seems to really like Han’s look in the “Easy” MV. (this is one of his best looks imo so I don’t blame him) First, he draws it in one of his vlives and then makes it his mission to mention that was his favorite part (exact time stamp and everything!) before getting all teeheehee shy. Like bro??? How do you even remember that?

Much like last year, it’s not as obvious as it was in 2018. But the occasional "slip up" doesn't ever really go away. Though, they come back in full force around 2022 and 2023 (especially!!).

We get to see a little bit more of their little hangouts. Either that or they just casually mention them in passing. They really do take the time to hang out together outside of work schedules. As much as they’ve mentioned hanging out together, fans have also spotted them out together on many occasions throughout the years. Imagine living with someone, working with them 24/7, and then wanting to spend the very limited amount of spare time you have with them as well, when you…already see them every day.

Oh! and Butt-hunter LK makes his official debut this year. His unique way of showing affection towards the members. Han seems to be his number one victim though (ooooh wow how shocking 🤥).

My personal opinions:

Again, I’m preetty sure they are just friends this year. From what we are shown, I personally don't see anything more (outside of potential feelings) unless you purposefully take moments out of context and ignore how they perceive each other around this time.

Though, they don’t shy away from the mutual playful banter and flirting, as well as being appreciative of each others looks. They seem a lot more comfortable and confident with themselves than they were in previous years, so its not something they refrain from doing. It also seems to carry onto 2021 and future years. But it’s not something you saw as much prior to 2020.

However, I do think Han, for the first time, starts developing feelings that go beyond platonic this year. If I had to pinpoint a year for him, it would probably be 2020. Han’s "Han's Communication Show - Stay 2nd Bday" Vlive gave a lot of insight in such a brief time. He seems like someone who wants to put a distance between himself and any sort of feeling that crosses the platonic/non-platonic boundary with LK. He says he doesn’t want to spend too much time with him, but they always end up together. 🙃 He literally says "Lee Know is annoying" while giggling/laughing like that. (Is he attempting to convince himself or us? I don’t know.)

It kind of goes back to him saying stuff like: “I stared/glared at him b/c he was so handsome...cause i was jealous of his looks." "I ranked him as one of the lowest b/c I don’t like good looking men." "I don’t like when he winks at me it’s so annoying" etc etc.

I honestly don’t think he’s even aware of it. Like sometimes he’ll blurt something out that kind of….gives him away in a sense? Like a Freudian slip or an intrusive thought.

I’ve also noticed he tends to pay extra attention/laugh extra hard at Lee Know’s jokes or little quirks that might go undetected by the others. 

In 2021, the playful back and forth flirting really ramps up between them. I think that year (and onwards) is when they are the most secure with themselves, at least compared to 2020 and the years prior.

🏁 Coordinate 127: Inside the Belly of the Snake (2 Baddies)

A pretty long theory post discussing about the  NCT 127′s 질주 (2 Baddies) MV and its connection to their lore.

(!) WARNING: This is a theory as it is not confirmed by SM entertainment nor members of NCT, so please don’t believe this 100%!

I was actually pretty excited for the release!! The intro and the beat really hooked me and personally, I am IN LOVE with their photoshoots. I have always liked racing concepts and I think NCT have always nailed them.

But all of this excitement for their concept, if I were to be honest, I had a lot of uncertainty of the lore connection in this comeback. Unlike NCT Dream’s Glitch Mode that clearly has a plot, this one doesn’t. But there are many points that convinced me of a theory.

The MV reminds me of aespa’s Hallucination Quest pictures. There is a snake and the Red Eye.

1. There are many snakes

We all know that there is one car that has a literal snake face on it, which I have mentioned in my Forever Only post. But there is actually more throughout the MV.

Although it is possible to make curve car tracks in real life, if you look at it closer, the tracks look like they slither around. They look like a bunch of snakes moving.

The tunnel at the back from this angle looks like how the head of a snake looks like from the back in the inside. Plus the two lights on the sides make them look like the eyes of the snake. So it looks like they are inside the snake.

Although this is just the shell of the car, in this angle, it looks like a snake’s head? The holes of the shell looks like a snake’s scales. This could also be a skull of the snake since this is not a whole car, this reminded me of Karina’s Hallucination Quest picture with the snake. But it is interesting that its from the car, since the first glimpse of the snake we had was on a car.

If you look at the round shape right under Jaehyun on the purple floor, it looks like the head of a snake. The two long shapes on the sides look like snakes too.

One more thing is this tunnel. I know for a fact that they use this tunnel with the lines to mimic what it looks like when a car is speeding up. The lines are supposed to show the speed movement. But in another way, it looks like they are inside of a snake. The most interesting part is what’s at the end of it.

 2. The Red Force

It really reminds me of the Red Force or the red eye that we have seen in Winter’s Hallucination Quest; but most importantly, SM’s main enemy. I know that it has never been officially mentioned again in SMCU contents, there are actually many implications that it still exists (the best example is of course Winter’s picture). But I was sure of it after I saw the stick that Taeyong was holding. It literally has one red eye on it.

Just like what I said before, aespa’s Hallucination Quest pictures have both a snake and the red eye. This means that both the snake and the eye have association. Whether the eye is literally a part of the snake or, the Red eye is a bigger entity and the snake is one of its underlings. Even Taeyong’s eyes are somewhat red; almost look like he is under its influence.

3. Jaehyun and Jungwoo

Jaehyun and Jungwoo are like opposing in this MV. Jaehyun, almost in most of his scenes, was seen sitting on a throne. In Favorite, he got bitten by the snake and I theorized that he would be suspicious in this MV. I think I was right... He seems like he is siding with the snake. His eyes look dark and ‘dead’ at the end of the MV. I remember talking about how he doesn’t seem like himself in the Forever Only MV, so it could possibly be the effect of the snake bite from Favorite.

Meanwhile, Jungwoo was also sitting on something that looks like a throne too. But his seat was different and it doesn’t have a backrest. On here, he was surrounded by things moving very fast. It looks like he is watching everything from far.

Then at one point, both Neos stood and back facing each other under the rain. Rain has always represents as a medium of connection. I have talked about this shortly in another post, where water in NCT contents symbolizes Ether which connects the Neos. In this scene, they could be communicating but perhaps their standpoints contradict as they don’t face each other.

Both Neos have special roles and I’ve talked about it too. They are somewhat similar but Jungwoo has connection with SM’s butterfly. It seems like Jungwoo is still on the good side and confronted Jaehyun who is under the snake’s influence. Another speculation is that they could be connecting with the other Neos, perhaps even outside the unit, but we still don’t know that.

4. Smaller details

Yuta was seen inside a lift and this is included in one of the transportations used in traveling through Dream stages. He was going up and we can see the Neo City.

Some Neos were seen driving, I speculate that they could be trying to escape from the snake, which is why Doyoung looked somewhat frantic. But they could be using this to fit the racing concept.

Conclusion

The Neos are inside the snake and is facing the monster. They were under its hallucination during Favorite and it lured Jaehyun. Now, Jaehyun is already under the snake’s control, while Taeyong seems to have more direct association to the Red Eye; this could also have some connection to his SuperM trailer. Jungwoo confronting Jae, but we would see more of this next time perhaps. Some members seem to be aware of the monster and are trying to escape but I’m keeping my eyes on Mark and Yuta; aside from Tae and Jae, they were the only ones featured in the intro transition. Perhaps they are the next targets of the snake. The 2 Baddies in question could be Jae and Tae, but it could also be Jae and Jungwoo because they were opposing. But at the end of the day, we know that its just. 1 Porche 2 Baddies and 7 shades of rainbow.

I translated Harusaruhi’s song “Jiyuu made no Kyori”, also used as the new opening theme for the Plott anime “Teikou Penguin”. It’s a web series about a penguin and his animal coworkers working for an unethical company, a work drama that parodies Japan’s suffocating labor conditions.

The Six Demons of Elsewhere

CON “SILVER  JAW”

Fun facts and just little things I thought of when I began writing for IMIE (Copy and pasted from the IMIE Docs) Visual character design notes Edition!!!

Con is the only character if the official series that we do not see, his only appearance is in the spin off comic Chlorine and for good measure. In my opinion I thinks that if he managed to survive events in Chlorine it would no doubly be a quick resolution for IMIE. Not saying he’s op but that man, this fucking beast is one who takes revenge and power very personally. The one thing about characters I write for stories is that I always hope I leave more than enough room for readers to come their own conclusions. To me as a writer it just makes it more fun for those who are invested. 

When I began working on Con, it was just a matter of what was more important to share than what exactly his purpose was. Con was a character that appeared in the Hourglass music video by Set It Off sporting a grey suit, black bowler hat, and a weird obsession with selling Cody some weird shit in his coat, eventually handing Cody a old watch and disappearing. The man looked desperate, hungry for a sale, and borderline chaotic, and I thought that “yes, make this man fear death and in doing do selling his soul in desperation for immortality.” Con is a representation of the fear of death, the slip into eternal sleep, thus selling his soul in order to stay among those who are living.

In the beginning Con was just another Elsewhere resident that was forever devoted and loyal to Nox, ready to drop anything for his maker’s wishes. But after a certain amount of drafts of Chlorine he turned into another soulless human turning his life over for immortality. Con is a character that personally battled death nonstop. Inevitably meeting his eventual reality in a life he deems much better than before. 

Written character design notes from the doc, most of these were after writing and the initial (somewhat) release of his design on my instagram. His first design release here. After releasing that I went back to design and write more for him. These were the design notes I wanted to add before working on him again.

In the mv he constantly had a toothy grin, so replace the human teeth with sharp teeth, some teeth with gold and silver. Consider that he may like to bite people who knows he’s good them teefs.

Likes to sell pearls, watches, and jewelry second hand so perhaps this could be a habit from his past life selling secondhand goods to people as if they were new. 

Main color pallets range from silver, rustic gold, copper, and black (grey, disgusting whites, and faded blacks).

Consider using steel/metal/iorn elements for his character. 

1910-1930s impression, consider historical events involving the great depression for backstory.

Con was originally from Scotland before he moved into the United Sates, in around 1910. 

Escaped death from mobs and accidents in the vehicle assembly lines too many times to count.

He hates the idea of death he completely rejects the idea that one day he will fucking die (everybody dies babe you ain’t special).

He gotten himself into too much trouble when it came to some of the mafia clans in his city, he was known to con them out of money and supplies in order to survive.

Con played may roles in groups as the eyes and ears, he was loyal to no one so him having constant and sensitive information was dangerous. He still managed to get himself out of trouble by constantly double-crossing his superiors.

Weirdly enough despite his accent, he can mimic any male voice and accent he can hear, which was perfect when he wanted to mess with people or fool for his advantage. 

No one could trust him but at the same time he also never lied to them either. 

One time he was tortured by a mob member and got one of his K9s ripped off, he didn’t say another word unless he wanted to eat mushed food for the rest of his life. 

Never knew his father because he died before his birth, his older brother died in a accident, his half sister died during her birth, then after Con became a young man, his mother died. Con was constantly surrounded by death, thus he wondered why he was subjected to remain alone. One of the reasons why he emigrated to the States was because it seemed he may have a better chance of survival. 

No one really knows how he met Nox, he tells a different story all the time. From pocket-picking him at the pub, to him saving his life, all the way from him telling people that Nox was so impressed by him that he begged Con to join (”Well that’s a fucking lie” -Nox, probably at some point).

After his contract, Con just decided to just be 100% more unhinged since no none was really going to stop him. Finally he can be himself and not get arrested for biting people. 

He’s more animalistic since his death, he growls, snarls, and cackles demonically, not for show but just because he’s been given the freedom to so.

Absolutely LOVES Elsewhere, he loves everything about it. The food, the people, the atmosphere. He misses Elsewhere when it was in constant Midnight, but he loved current Elsewhere as well when the new look was pitched to Nox. Did he suffer from constant eyestrain yes but beauty is pain. 

Honestly despite him dying (weird how he had to die in order to live forever), this was the best thing that happened him and he does not regret it one bit!

He gets along with the rest of the demons well but he really likes keeping to himself, it’ hard having to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. When he does spend time with the others it will most likely be with Ego or Lux. 

Con, Lux, Ego, and Lady Luck have never had the displeasure of having/being imprisoned in Nowhere.

Honestly this man has never been better now that he can’t die. Yay, no death! Crisis averted! Well for now at least but that’s future Con’s problem. 

Con likes to steal, he can’t keep his hands off of shiny things to save his life, this is mainly why he managed to join mafia groups because of his sneaky fingers. 

Still steals in Elsewhere but it’s petty theft because he’s spiteful like that. He’ll steal your entire stationary set if you so much as forget to give him his favorite pen back-  “IT WAS A GIFT FROM NOX YOU FUCK’EN DICK’EAH, GIV’ET BACK!”

As low on the profile he is in fieldwork, this man is the most unhinged out of the six. If Nox is so much as lightly irritated one word would set Con to completely destroy his targets. Man is unhinged he’ll bite and rip out your jugular if you were so much as an inconvenience. 

Nox offered immortality and Con gave his soul away, forever loyal and grateful for the devil who granted his only wish.

Out of all his demons, Con was the only one that Nox trusted when it came to loyalty, he won’t admit that he might have grew attached to him because of it. But this is Nox we’re talking about after events of Chlorine he doesn’t even want to entertain, “human emotions”.

Yes I know this is late but it's still January so who cares. I'm limiting this to korean title tracks and prerelease singles. Perhaps I'II make one for my favorite b-sides later. Alright lets go!

10. Lit by Stayc - I'll admit this one is kind of a sneak. I didn't even really get this song until this month. When I got it though I got it HARD. I think I listened to it on repeat for an hour straight. Do I actually think it's better than Teddy Bear and Bubble? Maybe not but I do think I like it the most. It's so brain scratchy!

9. Rising by TripleS - What a great song to be the group's official debut! I can really tell that they're Loona's little sister group in this song. Not that it sounds exactly like a Loona song but it has all these little moments where I can hear it. Probably because its a jaden jeong + monotree joint. Anyway it's a really good song and the chorus hits hard.

8. Perfume by NCT Dojaejung - My sister described this as a strut song which is so accurate. This song makes you feel like THAT BITCH. It's super smooth and sexy and really really good. Interesting vibe from NCT (That being said l'm a sticker defender so believe me I have nothing against the NCT sound)

7. Air Force One by Odd Eye Circle - The return of oec fully rocked my world. I was ranting and raving about the loonaverse implications of this song / mv / mini album for days. It's also just a really cool song! Daradaradadada~

6. Giddy by Kep1er - my babies!! Their best title track since Wadada. Also the dance is adorable. I immediately taught myself the chorus choreo. I'm incredibly biased towards these girls so I was tempted to put this higher but I held myself back.

5. Zero by New Jeans - Now I know what you're thinking, "Why tf is that your new jeans entry?" and "That's literally a coca cola ad. What's wrong with you?" This is my list though and Zero was legitimately my top kpop song on my spotify wrapped. I listened to it an ungodly number of times. It has like a weird hypnotic effect on me so I listen to it while I study.

4. Kick It 4 Now by The New Six - My top boy group jam of the year. Again shout out to my bg stan sister to putting me onto this. She truly keeps me in the loop in that regard. Pure happiness in a song it's SOOO FUN!

3. Queencard by (G)I-dle - Must every song be deep? Can't we all just have a silly girly time? My boob and booty hot!! In all seriousness though I think Jeon Soyeon is a genius. Ya'll might think her lyrics are weird but you just don't understand her like me. This is the song on this list that I think will have the most lasting impact. We'll all be looking back fondly on Queencard.

2. Underwater by Chuu - Underwater feels like a breath of fresh air to listen to. This song is so comforting; Chuu's voice is like a hug. It for real makes me emotional. It's so Taeyeon coded which is an incredibly good thing in my book.

1. Unforgiven by Lesserafim - This was my anthem of the year no question. I don't know if Lesserafim will ever be able to top this. It's just flawless. Potentially my favorite kpop album of the year all together too. Idec that half of it is songs we've already heard. I love having greatest hits in one place and Lesserafim's greatest hits are really good!
