😆🥰🤗 I've been waiting for Kirishima's past to be translated since forever 😭😭Now I can FINALLY talk about this chapter wkdbjsnsjsjk

Out of all the mysteries presented in this series (the hell's up with Suo Azami, Renji, Yoshino's parents, the brewing yakuza civil war), Kirishima's past is one thing that hyped me up the most; mostly because I've been dying to know the background this insane yet lovable(?) ML lololol.

⚠️ Though the title is Ch 34's Thoughts, I actually started it from ch 33. If you haven't read it then what are you doing here, go to MangaDex if you don't wanna get spoiled here.

We FINALLY get to see Kirishima's rich ass mommy and daddy 🥳🥳🥳

Looks like the parents are busy people, they missed the fact that their son is not normal since birth. That, or Kirishima is just damn good at hiding it. Maybe both.

"My 2 classmates are fighting over irrelevant things. Solution? Erase the thing without anyone knowing. No more things to fight, problem solved 🙂"

He has a shrewd moral compass, I have a feeling he was being genuine when he "helped" his classmates. Aww my cute baby gremlin.

Or if he wasn't being 100% genuine, maybe he tore up the cards to surpress his urges for violence, to ease the boredom he felt because he couldn't feel anything while living in a normal, peaceful life.

The parents slowly realize the abnormal blood that's been there since Gaku era has never disappear from their family.

Since Gaku is the black sheep of the family, Kirishima's dad prob thought: 'Oh fuck this is uncle all over again. No wait I can do this. He already released his energy using a good outlet (karate), he just needs to surround himself with good people. Friends, yeah. The school we picked is the best; surely there's no bad influence that's gonna taint my son. No more psycho #2.' Umm, I hate to break it to you, but daddy-

Ironically, the dad might be the first person who gave him insight about the feeling of having fun by being with a friend. Up until that point, he probably didn't know the feeling he felt when he did the karate. He did it many times, and the dad claimed he liked it, but he never registered it as 'liking something' until it was pointed out to him.

(just like when kirishima threw daggers at yoshino's back until she pointed out he might be jealous of Shoma and he got a little 'ahh that explains it' moment.)

Let's be real Kirishima could really use a proper diagnosis and therapy back then, even right now.

The smile of a child who has found the spark of his life:

LMAO seriously, he smiles because Kodaka can kick hard. The more pleasure (read: pain) he gets from other people, the more he's gonna seek it.

But Kodaka is still weaker than him, so the pleasure ends quickly.

Enter Otogawa.

She's cute. Sweet. More importantly, she's important enough to trigger Kodaka.

She told him all he needed to know about Kodaka. Great in academics, gyms, and karate. Secretly violent too. Just like himself.

"He's just like me, so we matched right? We can be friends! 😃"

Kirishima be like: FUCK YES MORE FRIENDS TO FUCK.

Remember in ch 25.2 when Kirishima told Yoshino he once formed a "friendship plan" that went down the drain?

Whelp, looks like Kodaka is that "friend." We all know how that ends, tho.

Anyways.

Thus, began Kirishima's scheme to ✨️nurture✨️ Kodaka into a person who could kick him harder & also strong enough to not break easily. He befriended (read: flirted) with his crush, lured him into a desolate place, provoked him, stayed docile & easy to kick, yadda yadda.

Really an elaborate plan for someone his age, it's almost cute.

This moment of Kirishima and concealer really highlights his cleverness since he was a kid. If he buys a concealer for his bruise, it's too pricey for his budget. Parents will question unnecessarily if he were caught buying it. Solution? Pretend to return the high schooler's money (even though it's his own) so they'd do the makeup for him. Bruise covered, money covered, no one's gonna know ☺️ Little manipulative shit.

I was gonna feel sorry for him for getting beaten up, but then his innocent, excited smile turned me off so quick. Ugh.

(This is prob the beginning of his exploration to find new "fun" stuff to try. Like choking himself, for example.)

Kirishima is a pathological liar huh. Saying his birthday is in September even though it's in November. This really adds weight to his words earlier that he only revealed his true birthday to Yoshino 🥺🥲

Kirishima's plan to nurture Kodaka is going smoothly in this chapter. Maintaining good relationship with Otogawa, making him jealous and all that.

I bet bringing a 10,000 yen bill is part of the plan too, because kids need the motivation to keep coming back to him. Extorting a broke student is boring afterall.

It's been 300 days since Kodaka had beaten him up? Um. Excuse me what the fuck. With that many injuries, Where are his parents??? Did he ever get questioned at all?? Is Kirishima just that good at lying?? I'm sorry, but I also smell neglection. Intentionally or not.

Moving on, Kirishima is damn good huh. His fights like an adult, prob even better than some yakuza. He's 12. Let that sink in.

(should've seen it coming tbh, but it still surprises me.)

I wanna say he's so disgusting when he ripped the poor dude's ear (where on earth did he learn that?), but he's also my son, so...

Also, the art is so clean. My eyes is blessed, thank you Konishi.

I forgot chapter 35.2 is already out WAAAHH

I say Kirishima's name a lot this time, maybe I should call him Kiri.

Okay, this chapter confirms my suspicion. So his family really did neglect him.

Uhh I don't think the diary is meant to prove himself as a victim. I bet it's to keep record of what makes him happy 😅

BAHHAHAH Gaddamit.

I thought he was mourning, or at least self-reflecting. Who knew he was playing soccer 🤣 (where is your sympathy kid, tf) At least he knew not to play in the middle of people mourning, lol

Oh yeah, I just remember, Sumire (Kiri's great-aunt) did say his parents tried to get him to talk after that incident, but no matter how much they tried, he never answered them. Maybe it's because he's aware he's too different from them, they wouldn't understand him anyway? If that's the case, that's kinda amazing of Kiri for being able to (kinda) open up to Gaku even though he never met him, because just from a short meeting he knows his great-uncle is not normal like himself.

(If Kiri is your average kid, even if Sumire dropped some hints that Gaku is similar to him, he wouldn't be able to take the hint because he's too clouded with "no one understands me" prejudice. But no. Our Kiri here uses his brainn, bro)

Turns out his "friend" is more normal than he thought, his plan failed, he got into trouble. He did so much, yet, didn't get anything in the end lolol

I'm surprised Kiri is the first one who asked to be adopted. I don't think Sumire or his parents ever told him that the man in front of him is a yakuza. He must've put two & two together and concluded it himself.

If I could guess why Gaku accepted a brat like Kiri, it's may be because he saw his potential. I'm sure he never heard about Kiri until his sister introduced him, but the fact that she asked for his help is enough prove that his family couldn't handle him anymore. He never introduced himself as a yakuza but Kiri, with limited informations and short time, knew right away. He's not scared or nervous like normal people. In fact, he just focus on getting what he wants, and willing to do anything to get what he wants. Talented. Abnormal. Obsessed. Unhinged. Gaku could really use those traits. Even if he couldn't become his grandchild, at least he could become a reliable subordinate. Maybe that's why he accepted him so quick 😂

(Turns out there's another reason in the next chapter tho, so I'll save my thoughts for later.)

This is just a reminder to myself: Gaku barely provided Kiri with the neccessity needed, probably because he needs to test his worth if he wants to earn that "yakuza's grandchild" title. Or at least that's my theory. Maybe Gaku is just naturally apathetic. Maybe both.

Kiri might've liked Gaku to a certain degree because he's one of his few family who accepts him as who he is, but I'm pretty sure growing up with a man like him in a yakuza household has worsen his mental condition, until he meet Yoshino.

Wow. Turns out it's not the first time he waits for hours in the rain 🤣

We know that Kiri used to date older women to leech, but seeing it with my own eyes disgust me. Not just Kirishima, but that grown-ass woman too; having sex with a minor, what the fuck. That's what I like from the author tho, just bc the ML did it, it doesn't mean it's romanticized.

OOHHH the day when Kirishima is appointed to be Yoshino's guard dog. Never thought I'd see this day come so fast, I thought we gonna have to wait for ch 80 or smth.

Hmm? The guy who killed Kyousuke? Do we know him? Is it Suo Azami? Nah, if he's around the same age as Kiri, he's practically a baby at that time. Wait, didn't he change his face tho? How old is he again? Or myb it's not Azami at all, myb it's his boss, Akime Hishibe? Oh I forgot Shouma said he's already dead, but I highly doubt it. Maybe the mastermind is still alive.

Um, if Kirishima is owned by Gaku, and Gaku leaves him under Renji's care, does it mean he's now owned by Renji? He doesn't have to obey Gaku anymore?

I'm confused with this whole ownership thing now.

Wow, oh wow. I need to recalibrate everything.

This panel gives chapter 2 a whole new layer. Wow.

So like. He told her to sell her body not only because he was tired of her, but also because Renji told him he could make Yoshino go back to Osaka if he didn't feel like up to the task?

Though I don't think Kiri did that because he values his life; he did that merely because he thought she's boring and not worth his time. But then everything change 😂

Yo Renji. You're the one who said it's okay for Kiri to make Yoshino go back to Osaka. You said you'd take care of the rest, you even said he can be creative. He was doing such a great job at making her feel like she wanna leave, yet, you won't let him have his way?

Was Renji intentionlly flaming them both? Is this his plan all along; to have both children go screw each other in Tokyo and forget about Osaka for a year?

(Istg Renji's death flag has been up for a while now, I'm scared for Yoshino)

Oh wow, Kiri really did not lie. Their interest really do align perfectly.

To continue my point above about why would Gaku accept Kiri into his house, it seems like he wanted to use Kiri's talent and obsessiveness towards Yoshino to make him protect her, because he feel indebted/guilty towards Renji? Was he feeling responsible for what happen to Kyousuke? If that's the case, this makes Akime seem even more sus bc he used to be Gaku and Renji's close friend.

Seeing Kirishima's reminiscence sure brings tears to my eyes. From obsession to genuine love and affection. He really does come a loong, long way, huh. Maybe I should make a meta about this particular scene but idk, let's see if I feel like it.

But I don't think he would've feel this way if Yoshino didn't acknowledge his quirks and treat him "normally." She really is amazing.

The way he's so scared when Yoshino didn't move for literally 1 second he decided to check her pulse, like she could just drop dead in a blink. Even though he has seen how strong she is up until now. That irrational fear of losing someone, he finally understand 🥺🥺

I'm really REALLY surprised Yoshino relented and agreed to eat parfait 🤣 Kirishima you always win huh 🤣

Aww, he returned to the same place when he first entered the yakuza household, eat the same parfait he used to eat, but now he's together with a friend/lover he treasures for life, enjoying the life he found boring at the beginning 🥺😭💞

These past chapters have been a treat. Even after he declares he loves Yoshino multiple times, we never stop doubting him because the fear he instilled at the beginning is too strong to dismiss. Just like Yoshino, we have this lingering doubt that he doesn't really love her, he's just obsessed. These flashbacks managed to shed some lights into his character, making him seem even more human. Kiri really HAS been trying to show how genuine he is -- in his own awkward way -- and it shows 🥹

Just 2 more chapters until we catch up to the raws, I can't wait. I've seen it, and all I can say is, it's beautiful. And Kirishima says some crazy stuff while sober. I just can't with him. I love him, I hate it.

Crunchyroll, in arrivo True Cooking Master Boy e la nuova stagione di Food Wars!

Dall’11 ottobre si torna dietro ai fornelli!

Dopo “Assassins Pride” e “Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise” vanno ad aggiungersi al già ricco palinsesto autunnale di Crunchyroll altre due serie, questa volta entrambe di genere culinario! Vediamo in dettaglio gli altri due anime che potremo seguire ogni settimana in contemporanea con il Giappone, sottotitolati in italiano.

FOOD WARS! THE FOURTH PLATE (Dall’11 ottobre alle 18:30)

Quarta stagione della serie animata tratta da “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma”, il celebre battle shonen culinario scritto da Yuuto Tsukuda e disegnato da Shun Saeki, edito in Italia da GOEN.

Yukihira Soma sta affinando le sue capacità culinarie nel ristorante della sua famiglia, il Yukihira Diner, ed è entrato nella scuola super elitaria di cucina chiamata Totsuki Teahouse Culinary Academy. Una volta dentro, Soma ha incontrato vari cuochi continuando a imparare, ma le cose sono cambiate drasticamente non appena Nakiri Azami ha preso la presidenza della scuola. Istituisce il Central che non permette più agli studenti di cucinare liberamente. Soma e i suoi amici decidono di combattere il modo con cui il Central gestisce le cose, il che li rende dei ribelli.

E ora, il tempo per l'esame del biennio è arrivato. Malgrado una brutta situazione dopo l'altra, Soma e i suoi amici continuano a mettercela tutta, ma il Central non si arrende. Alcuni degli amici di Soma vengono espulsi dalla scuola. Per cercare di risolvere le cose, Soma e gli altri sfidano i dieci eletti della Totsuki in una sfida culinaria a reggimenti.

La squadra di Soma vince di misura nella prima parte della gara, ma siamo solo all'inizio. Ora c'è il secondo round! Riuscirà Soma, insieme alla sua squadra, a battere i dieci eletti della Totsuki e a salvare gli amici?

Yoshitomo Yonetani (Vatican Miracle Examiner, King of Braves GaoGaiGar) torna a dirigere il progetto presso lo studio J.C. Staff (Okaasan Online, High Score Girl), affiancato da Shogo Yasukawa (Akanesasu Shoujo, L’epopea del cavaliere ripetente) alla sceneggiatura e Tomoyuki Shitaya (Sagrada Reset, Jinsei) al character design.

TRUE COOKING MASTER BOY (Dall’11 ottobre alle 20:45)

Serie animata basata sul manga storico culinario “Shin Chuuka Ichiban!” di Etsushi Ogawa, sequel della precedente “Chuuka Ichiban!” (Cooking Master Boy) che fece il suo debutto nel 1997.

Nella Cina del 19° secolo, il protagonista Liu Maoxing vince il titolo su Super Chef ed è il più giovane ad esserci riuscito. Il suo maestro Zhou Yu gli consiglia di espandere ancor più le sue doti di cuoco, dunque il protagonista parte in un viaggio lungo la Cina coi suoi amici Shirou and Meili. Dopo essere ritornato si unisce a Xie Lu e Lei En per combattere la Underground Cooking Society. Scopre poi il segreto degli 8 Legendary Cooking Tools. Bei, la madre di Mao, nel passato ha affrontato la Underground Cooking Society per il suo desiderio di vedere tutti felici. Per proteggere i preziosi strumenti dalla Underground Cooking Society, e dare seguito agli sforzi della madre, Mao e i suoi amici partono per un viaggio...

La serie è scritta e diretta da Itsuro Kawasaki (The Legend of the Legendary Heroes, Chrome Shelled Regios), mentre del character design si sta occupando Saki Hasegawa. Il progetto è prodotto da NAS, in collaborazione con Production I.G (Psycho-Pass, Haikyu!!).

J-POP Manga e Edizioni BD: tutte le uscite di settembre

Questo mese tante novità al debutto: Josèe, la tigre e i pesci, Kowloon Generic Romance, Mission: Yozakura Family, Obsessed with a Naked Monster e Jelousy!

Di seguito tutte le novità che Edizioni BD e J-POP Manga pubblicheranno nel corso del mese di settembre, che trovate più in dettaglio anche sul Direct 85.

1 SETTEMBRE

L’1 settembre continua la poetica avventura ambientata nel mondo steampunk di Beyond the Clouds, e quella post-apocalittica di Tsugumi Project! Ma non solo dal primo settembre saranno disponibili anche Blue Period 7, Game of Familia 3, So, I’m a spider, so what? 8, Metamorfosi 4 e Lady Oscar Collection – Le rose di Versailles vol.8

8 SETTEMBRE

L’8 settembre arriva il penultimo volume di Hell’s Paradise – Jigokuraku 12. La battaglia finale è in fermento e Gabimaru e i suoi compagni dovranno affrontare i nemici più temibili e le scelte più difficili se vogliono riuscire a lasciare il Nirvana incolumi.

Continuano anche: Black Jack 3 – Osamushi Collection, I diari della speziale 3, Super HxEros 8 e Dead Tube 16.

15 SETTEMBRE

Per J-POP manga, arriva il 15 settembre il titolo nominato ai premi Kono Manga Ga Sugoi nel 2020 e Tsugi Ni Kuru Manga Taisho Awards nel 2021, Kowloon Generic Romance 1. Uno slice of life ambientato in una delle zone più malfamate ma anche più celebri di Hong Kong: la città murata di Kowloon, un angolo oscuro dell’estremo oriente. Un luogo che sfida l’immaginazione, i cui numerosi abitanti vivono abbandonandosi alla nostalgia per le strade in rovina in cui si intrecciano passato, presente e futuro. In allegato solo per la prima edizione l’esclusiva Cartolina da Kowloon in omaggio.

Continuano inoltre: Kingdom 48, La finestra di Orfeo 4, La Regina d’Egitto 8 e Bird of Shangri-La 2.

22 SETTEMBRE

Il 22 settembre sarà disponibile l’attesissimo shonen sullo spionaggio di Shueisha, Mission: Yozakura Family 1. Un’originale commedia nominata al Tsugi Ni Kuru Manga Taisho Awards 2020. Taiyo Asano è un liceale molto timido e l’unica persona con la quale riesce a parlare è la sua amica, Mutsumi Yozakura, l’ultima discendente di una famigerata famiglia di spie! Quando Mutsumi finisce nei guai, toccherà a Taiyo salvarla: ne sarà in grado? Mission: Yozakura Family 1 sarà disponibile nell’esclusivo First Mission Pack, un box contenente il primo volume, e ben cinque specialissimi extra!

Tornano Hanako e Nene con Hanako-kun: i 7 misteri dell'Accademia Kamome 11 che sarà disponibile in un’edizione regular e una variant davvero speciale che avrà in allegato il Ghost Hotel’s Cafe Picture Book, un inedito volume a colori di 32 pagine (al prezzo di € 9,90).

Per gli amanti dello yaoi, arriva Obsessed with a Naked Monster di Ogeretsu Tanaka. Un nuovo capitolo per i protagonisti di Love Whispers, Even in the Rusted Night e The Proper Way to Write Love! Obsessed with a Naked Monster sarà disponibile anche in una versione deluxe con il volume extra, Azami – Il cardo (regular € 6,90 - variant € 8,90).

Il 22 settembre arriva in tutti gli store il manga Josèe, la tigre e i pesci di Seiko Tanabe: Tsuneo è uno studente universitario e Josee, che usa questo nome fittizio ispirandosi alla protagonista del suo libro preferito, una ragazzina che raramente esce di casa da sola a causa dell'incapacità di camminare causata da una paralisi cerebrale. I due si incontrano per caso quando Tsuneo, camminando per la città, salva Josee da un incidente mortale. Stringendo amicizia con la ragazza e la nonna, Tsuneo riuscirà piano piano a farsi strada nella vita della ragazza, riuscendo ad abbattere i muri in cui lei stessa si è rinchiusa.

Per Edizioni BD, arriva la commedia dark kafkiana di Andi Watson (nominato più volte ai premi Eisner e Harvey), Book Tour – L’autore incontra il suo pubblico. Dopo la pubblicazione del suo ultimo romanzo, G. H. Fretwell, uno scrittore inglese di basso livello, si imbarca in un tour promozionale. Nulla sta andando secondo i piani e il suo viaggio si trasforma gradualmente in un incubo. Il 29 settembre sarà disponibile un nuovo volume della Osamushi Collection: Il Terzo Occhio (titolo originale Mitsume ga tooru) Hosuke Sharaku è un ragazzino con personalità multiple che deve affrontare misteri, avventure e problemi per scoprire il mistero che circonda la sua nascita e le sue origini. Per farlo, indagherà sulle misteriose rovine che una civiltà perduta da tempo chiamata i Tre Occhi hanno lasciato nascoste per tutto il globo.

Il 29 settembre arriva in libreria, fumetteria e tutti gli store online il primo numero di Jealousy di Scarlet Beriko, autrice dell’amato Jackass!: una nuova saga Boy’s Love in salsa crime. Sarà inoltre disponibile il volume singolo Yondaime – La storia di Tatsuyuki Ooyamato, il sequel da cui è nata la storia di Jealousy. Continuano Komi can’t communicate 10, Zombie 100 – 4, Land of the lustrous 9.

Per Edizioni BD si conclude il viaggio di Lucifer, la misteriosa ladra sovrannaturale, protagonista della saga di Hexed, con il secondo volume.

J-POP Manga, le novità in arrivo nei prossimi mesi

Annunciati tanti titoli fra i quali figurano nuove opere di Jun Mayuzuki, Kengo Hanazawa, Tamekou e Nagabe!

Durante la diretta streaming di oggi su Twitch, lo staff di J-POP Manga ha annunciato, assieme ad alcuni ospiti, i nuovi titoli che andranno ad aggiungersi nel corso dei prossimi mesi al catalogo della casa editrice, vediamo in dettaglio quali.

Kowloon Generic Romance di Jun Mayuzuki

Nella labirintica Kowloon, distretto di una Hong Kong futuristica e improntata alla terra-formazione, la tranquilla trentenne Kujirai e il suo spigliato collega Kudo lavorano in una piccola agenzia immobiliare, passando le giornate immersi nelle caotiche vie della loro città, apprezzandone la vitalità, il caos e l’anima decadente.

Project Sakura Wars, online un nuovo promo per la serie animata

Il primo episodio dell’anime sarà trasmesso in Giappone il 3 aprile.

Diffuso un nuovo trailer di “Project Sakura Wars The Animation” (Shin Sakura Taisen The Animation), la nuova serie animata dello storico franchise di Sega che andrà in onda da 3 aprile a seguito del debutto in Giappone dell’omonimo videogioco per Playstation 4, atteso in primavera anche in Europa.

Il video anticipa sia la sigla di testa "Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan - Shinshou" che quella di coda "Sakura Yumemishi". I brani sono cantati dalle doppiatrici delle varie protagoniste.

L’anime è diretto da Manabu Ono (Saki, Sword Art Online: Alicization, Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon) presso lo studio Sanzigen (Bubuki Buranki, BanG Dream! 2nd season). La sceneggiatura è curata da Tatsuhiko Urahata (Saki, Haganai,Strike Witches) assieme al regista, mentre la colonna sonora è firmata da Kouhei Tanaka (One Piece, Punta al Top!), uno dei compositori principali sia della saga videoludica che di quella animata.

Tokyo, 1941. La capitale del Giappone sta lentamente riconquistando la sua serenità. Durante il periodo passato dal comandante Seijuro Kamiyama in Europa, Sakura Amamiya è stata promossa vicecomandante. Al suo ritorno, Seijuro porta con sé una strana ragazza di nome Clara, che a quanto pare è l'unica sopravvissuta della divisione di Mosca, andata distrutta in un terribile Rivista del combattimento di Mosca, che è stata distrutta in un terribile incidente. Il mistero sull’accaduto, però, si infittisce quando fa la sua comparsa in città un gruppo militare che dichiara di essere la divisione di Mosca! Chi è Clara? E qual è lo scopo di questi combattenti?

Il gioco è ambientato sempre a Tokyo, dodici anni dopo gli eventi di “Sakura Wars 5″ e segue una nova forza d’assalto imperiale guidata da Seijuro Kamiyama. Dal titolo è già stato tratto un manga, serializzato dal 12 settembre sulla rivista Weekly Young Jump di Shueisha.

Negli anni il franchise ha ispirato tre manga, sei OVA, una serie tv e un film. Questi ultimi due sono arrivati anche in Italia distribuiti direttamente in home video, ma ad oggi sono molto difficili da reperire.
