Trevelyan Main Branch

Basileus Trevelyan - Great Aunt Lucille’s brother, Maxwell and Evelyn's grandfather. Also, Lady Osher's grandpa. Famed for his martial prowess and a devout heart. Was the former Teyrn's military advisor.

Emalaine Darrow of Starkhaven - Belongs to a house loyal to Prince of Starkhaven and had maternal ties to the illustrious House Dorner. It was later believed that she died in a plot by House Dorner to weaken House Darrow as part of their power bid against the Prince.

Artemy Trevelyan (Leraux Branch) - Maxwell’s father. The First Born. Groomed to follow Basileus footsteps with the military matters. However, Artemy is a stubborn son who 'bedded that harlot from the Circle' as far as Basileus is concerned. He was trained a soldier and became Captain of the Guard in Ostwick. He commands respect and honour, much to the surprise of those who finally knew him, and will get the job done. But after his marriage to the lady of House Motierre (who had plotted against the Teyrn and in turn, the Trevelyans), he was banished from Ostwick, but he left the guard with good ties with his team.

Clarissa Trevelyan Bayart (House Bayart) - The Second Born. The Max and Evelyn's aunt. Married to her childhood friend, Eustace Bayart (the second son of House Bayart, an arling at that time). Mother of Lady Osher. Future Teyrna of Ostwick.

Daniel Trevelyan (Valentis Branch)- The Youngest Son. Evelyn’s father. A courtier of Teyrn of Ostwick with financial matters. Married the daughter of the wealthy Antivan merchant prince, Giovanni Valentis. A cunning and scheming man who secretly operates the underworld through his wife, Sofiya Valentis, and had a hand behind the politics of Ostwick.

Leraux Branch

Mirabella Fauste - a Circle Mage. Formerly the Lady of House Fauste, now a defunct house after all its members die due to House Motierre's treachery. First love of Artemy, whom she had 'seduced' and bore his bastard son (Maxwell) after 'that night' in the Circle Library before his wedding to Yvonne Motierre. Was murdered in the Circle.

Yvonne Motierre - the daughter of the treacherous House Motierre. Her marriage was a ploy created by her father to weaken House Trevelyan, whom they consider the obstacle towards their plans in overthrowing the current ruling house, House Bayart. They failed due to the efforts of Daniel Trevelyan and his wife. Committed suicide due to grief after delivering her stillborn son.

Katerina Leraux - daughter of a minor noble in Ansburg who owned vast plains and granary. Current wife of Artemy. Known to be pious and kind to their people. She loved Max like he is her own son.

Maxwell - A Circle Mage. He discovered he can use magic during the day before of his eleventh birthday when he accidentally turned his water into ice.

Beatrice and Bastien Leraux Trevelyan- Fraternal Twins. Younger half-siblings of Max.

This is a very small gift for @kawereen , hope you don’t mind if I’m almost two days late and I really hope you like it :)

P.S.: This is the setting, its name is “Lago di Arpy”, and this is Calanthae Lavellan.

“Why do we have to come back already? Can’t we stay a little more?”.

The piercing sound of Artemis’ disapproval tone broke the silence but Lyliane shook her head and went on putting her things in the bag.

“Look at the sun. It might not look like that but it already started to set and we just have no more than the hours it takes to get back to the village”. Lyliane sighed. “And believe me, it is better to be already back home at night”.

Artemis sighed after the elf, she was born there and it wouldn’t be wise not to listen to her even if that place was beautiful. She looked at the landscape once more, the wild landscape of the Frostback Mountains in autumn. Sitting on the grass, Artemis looked at the crystal clear water of the alpine lake that reflected the blue of an afternoon sky, the silhouettes of the pines already turning into a warm tone of orange on fields covered with golden grass and the peaks of the mountains wearing their usual snow caps.

A sudden gust of cold wind made Artemis stand up and fasten her blue cloak with a white border of fur, then her light blue eyes crossed Lyliane’s peaceful gaze. The silver Vallaslin on her forehead looked almost gold in the warm light of the setting sun.

“Alright, now I’m ready to leave”, she uttered, fastening the quiver with bow and arrows on her back. Lyliane’s eyebrows rose with surprise only for a second, then a wide smile appeared on her face.

“Good to hear it”. Lylie set the bag on her shoulder and checked the sheath of the sword to be tied to the belt, then she started walking down the narrow path that crossed the field and led to her village.

“I assume you liked this little hike we made today”, the elf added while looking at the curvy path in front of her. She heard Artemis softly laugh behind her.

“I can’t say that a four hours hike on a path like this one is a little one but I loved the lake! Thank you, Lylie”.

A rumble reached her ears and Lyliane suddenly stopped, looking around for thunderstorm clouds that seemed nowhere to be seen, and Artemis almost hit her back.

“Hey, what…?”, she asked, confused by the elf’s behaviour.

“What was that sound?”, Lyliane answered with another question, turning back and looking at her friend. Artemis stroked the scruff of her neck.

“Oh, that sound? Ahem… I’m afraid it was my stomach. Aren’t you hungry?”.

The elf and the human looked into each other’s eyes, and they burst out laughing.

Later, at Lyliane’s home…

“Calanthae Lavellan, will you ever stop laughing at me?”.

Cullen Rutherford was standing arms crossed in the middle of the small kitchen, watching the blonde mage who was almost doubled over with laughter. Calanthae had always seen him like the super busy and authoritative Commander of the Forces of the Inquisition and couldn’t really imagine that one day he would stand in front of her covered with flour. Actually, most of the kitchen was covered with flour.

“Lylie will kill us both if she’ll see the conditions of her kitchen”.

Cullen knew that Calanthae was right. There were bowls, wooden spoons and dishes everywhere as well as the flour, a consequence of the afternoon spent trying to cook something good for dinner and to bake an apple cake. Lyliane brought Arry on a hike and Cullen was happy to be able to work on a surprise for her.

He looked out of the small window, it was already dark and Lylie and Arry weren’t home but it wouldn’t take long.

“Help me Calanthae. It is better to clean up this mess before the two arrive”.

Calanthae took his request seriously and rolled up her sleeves.

“Yes, Commander!”, she answered and laughed. “Oh, where did Lylie hide the gift?”.

“She told me it was hidden in her wardrobe”.

“Okay, I’ll get it”. Calanthae rushed upstairs into Lyliane’s bedroom and looked for the weapon into the wardrobe. Cullen, Lylie and Calanthae decided to give her a new bow as a gift, but it shouldn’t be a simple one. In fact, it was crafted by the elves of Lyliane’s Clan and then she carved the elegant, elfic patterns herself.

There it was, well hidden behind her clothes. Calanthae added a blue ribbon to the bow and ran back to Cullen, there was no time to lose.

The night sky in Enyladell looked like a dome covered with bright stars. Arry stretched a little bit while Lylie was opening the door.

“I’m so tired I think I’d sleep for at least 10 hours”. Lyliane laughed.

“Weren’t you hungry?”.

“Don’t underrate me. I can be both”.

Lyliane opened the door, but all that Arry could see inside was darkness. The elf left her bag and cloak in the small entrance and suddenly the sweet smell of an apple cake reached her nose.

Followed by Arry, she went straight to the kitchen where suddenly a bright light lit the room. The table was set for dinner with lots of delicious food and an apple cake that really looked appetizing. On a chair, there was the bow carved by Lylie and embellished with a ribbon and behind the table, Cullen and Calanthae were standing proud of their work and they suddenly shout “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”.

Artemis Trevelyan x Cullen Rutherford Modern Inquisition AU

“It didn’t go that bad,” Artemis nodded to herself “For once, the music was enjoyable, the food wasn’t terrible and they gave me enough cake!” Cullen smirked, “Don’t forget you successfully convinced the Duke and his guests of the importance to find whoever is behind the contraband of Red Lyrium. You well deserved your cake, my lady.” “I thought we have ascertained that my name is Artemis, Sir Cullen,” the young Inquisitor tsked in fake disapproval, her heels tickling against the road “I agree about the cake, anyway. Do you think Leliana could obtain the recipe?” “I’m sure our Head of the Confidential Affairs has already grabbed it,” he smiled again. Lady Trevelyan... Artemis often made him smile even against his best intentions to keep a professional and imperturbable facade, as the Skyhold Head of Security was required to do. They walked quietly for a while until she shivered “Maker, I can’t wait to return in Skyhold where I can wear proper clothes for this type of wheater.” He frowned, noting once again the light surcoat. She had worn it over the beautiful, long dress that had made her stand in the crowd shining as a star in the dark sky. Usually, Cullen didn’t pay a great amount of attention to things as dresses. It was undeniable, however, that even someone like him could appreciate the way the blue and silver silk floated around her like a soft cloud. The bodice was encrusted with dark blue gems and little silver sequins and it made her shone every time she danced under the huge chandelier in the Duke’s ballroom. Truly a star that nobody could compare to. “Allow me,” he said, quickly shrugging off his coat and draping it around her shoulders. Maker’s breath, when those huge eyes looked at him with a mix of surprise and amusement he felt his cheeks burn and his knees tremble. “You’re the one who risks getting cold now,” Artemis murmured, brushing her cheek against the soft fur of his winter coat. Under her gaze, he felt younger and inexperienced and weak and strong altogether. He couldn’t decide if he liked that or not, but for sure he liked her. He liked her more than a simple soldier should have liked his superior. Maker’s breath, he was knee - deep in an ocean of troubles. How would she react if he dared to voice his feelings? With disgust? Maybe. Puzzlement? Obviously. A brave, beautiful noble lady would never return the affection of a former soldier, a soldier who was fighting to be a better man, a man who didn’t have much to offer her. “Cullen,” Artemis called gently, her hands covering his as he still held the coat around her shoulders. The touch was tender, but it struck him like a well-placed punch. He looked at her, trying to breathe as she stole empty words and weak protests with a blink of those eyes. Cullen knew what was going to happen when she tiptoed. He also knew he should have stopped her, not bent forward. There was so much in his past - Kirkwall investigation, the Templars deserters, the scandal of the Tranquils. Was that a burned he was willing to give her? She left the hold on his hands and gently grabbed his face, her hands soft and warm against his skin. Artemis hesitated just a moment. Cullen prayed her name softly, his voice brushing away her own doubts and fears. He wasn’t sure what he was asking her to do - to stop now or never stop - but she did the only right thing. She kissed him. Her lips pressed against his and he pressed back, eager to feel everything at once. Her soft sigh quietened his worries. She still wore a faint trace of lipstick, a red that had reminded him of plump cherries as he watched her smiling at the full ballroom. He had wanted to taste it. And now he was not disappointed. Cullen was surprised - and delighted - when she gently nipped at his lower lip, sending shots of pleasure down his limbs. He embraced her tightly as she still held his face in her hands, which were gentle and trembling. He made her arch her neck and gently pressed his tongue against her lips. She purred and let him slip inside. The kiss was all he had dreamt and more, and Cullen wanted to devour her here and there, marking her as his and letting her as breathless and weak as he felt. Mostly, though, he wanted to make this good for her. Because he cared for Artemis and he wanted her to know how much she meant to him. She was sunny days and loud laughter, sparring matches, and shared books. A friend, a warrior, a woman who conquered a place in his heart -no, in his very soul - thanks to jokes and clever ideas and a courage he could only admire. Cullen couldn’t pick the moment when he fell for her. Was it ridiculous saying he fell from the beginning when she first smiled at him and shook his hand vigorously in Cassandra’s office? Or maybe it happened when she trusted him enough to open about her confusion as new Inquisitor, letting him see someone different from the usual witty her? Artemis grabbed his shoulders silently demanding him to come closer and he simply decided it wasn’t important to understand when it started. It only counted that happened. She laughed when she backed up “You know? I’m not cold anymore.” He couldn’t hold back a smirk “Glad I helped.” “You surely did,” she smiled, blushing a bit. He knew Cassandra and the others were waiting for them at the hotel. He knew he and Artemis should have hurried. And yet, he kissed her again. This moment was only theirs.
