Fairy Tail
It doesn’t matter how many people criticize Fairy Tail, I will always love this anime with all my heart and all my soul. You can say it is one of the worst animes you have seen, but I think it is the best. And if you think I’m wrong, okay, I see you’re not prepared to accept that it is a beautiful and wholesome anime.
You want to see proves that it is an incredible anime?
Okay, I have them:
1. The music. Look me in the eyes and tell me Yasuharu Takanashi isn’t one of the best or the best japanese composer. I dare you. There isn’t another composer of Anime OST like Yasuharu Takanashi, because all the soundtrack of Fairy Tail is beautiful, wholesome, emotional, epic… and he makes you feel emotions that no one else can make you feel.
2. The animation. Maybe people will disagree with me on this, but for me, the art style of Hiro Mashima is one of the best (alongside Kōhei Horikoshi, Natsuki Kizu and Masashi Kishimoto). I just love his characters designs and the backgrounds. For me the way he draws the hair, the eyes, the body and everything else is great.
3. The couples. Hiro Mashima is the only mangaka that made me ship the canon/semi-canon ships (like Nalu, Gruvia, Gale, Elfever, Jerza) more that the fanon ships (like Gratsu, Graylu, Stingue…) and I think that says a lot about the couples of the mangas created by other mangakas. In Fairy Tail there isn’t one single ship toxic or forced or that doesn't make sense. Not a single one. (And I could give examples of ships from other animes that are toxic, forced or senseless, but I would never finish).
4. The girls. All of the female characters of Fairy Tail are awesome, badass and incredible. Fairy Tail is the only anime that made me love all of the female characters (like Erza, Lucy, Lisanna, Levy, Mirajane, Evergreen, Cana, Juvia, Wendy, Kinana, Yukino) and again, that says a lot. And if you don’t like (or hate) some of the girls (like Lisanna or Lucy), shame. All of them are strong, brave, kind and they don’t deserve your hate.
5. The villains. There’s nothing I love more than a villain getting a second chance, or a villain redemption, and this anime has it. Fairy Tail is a great guild that redeemed a villain (or a group of villains) in each arc, and I think that’s beautiful. That’s what Fairy Tail does, bring out the best in people (like Kageyama, Lyon and his mates, Gajeel, Juvia, Milliana, Jellal, Erza Knightwalker, Edolas Royal Army, Ultear, Meredy, Legion Corps, Flare Corona, Sabertooth, Oracion Seis, some members of the Alvarez Empire…).
6. The world. The world where Fairy Tail takes place is wonderful. It is a world where magic and wizards exist. You can join a guild that can be -is- your family and will help you every time you need it. Besides, the magic that the mages of Fairy Tail have is amazing: the Dragon Slayer magic, the Celestial Spirit magic (which is very original), the Requip magic, the Ice-Make magic…
7. The plot. Fairy Tail tells the story of a member of the Fairy Tail guild, Natsu Dragneel, that wants to find the dragon Igneel who taught him the Dragon Slayer magic. In some point he goes to the Hargeon Town where she meets Lucy. Then the story follows the adventures of Lucy, Natsu, Happy, Gray, Erza, and the rest of members of the Fairy Tail Guild. I fell in love with the anime from the beginning, but if you get bored don’t stop watching it. It would get better. I promise. You just have to wait to get to the Galuna Arc, Phantom Lord Arc or Oracion Seis Arc.
8. The humor. Fairy Tail can be serious when it has to, but it is also funny, and it brings a smile to your face even if you’re angry or sad. (Trust me, I know because it happened to me).
9. The emotions. Fairy Tail can make you feel a lot of emotions. When the characters cry, you feel sad, when the characters are angry, you are angry too, when the characters are happy, you smile thanks to them… And when the Fairy Tail guild wins, your heart fills with pride and joy (at least mine does). If there’s anything that feels better than Fairy Tail’s victories, tell me, I’ll wait for it.
10. The meaning. This is related to number 5. Fairy Tail is a kind, empathetic and compassionate guild. They try to understand the villains instead of just assuming the worst of them. They try to change the villains instead of letting them become worse persons. And even with the most evil villains, like Acnologia, they don’t talk with hate, or anger. Natsu said something (I don’t remember the exact words) to Acnologia with pity and sympathy. That just proves how human are the members of Fairy Tail. And I think Hiro Mashima wanted to show that in his manga/anime. That nobody is pure evil or irredeemable. That every character needs a second chance. That every character is capable of being good. And that the good in people is what will make a better world.
For this, and for more, Fairy Tail is, to me, the best anime. And to me, these are the reasons why Fairy Tail doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
Edit: If you hate Fairy Tail, then you are totally missing the moral of this story. It is an anime with kind, compassionate and empathetic characters that are capable of forgive villains for their bad actions and characters that are almost incapable of hate someone. Characters that sees the best in people. But after you watch that anime you criticize it? It seems like you didn't understand at all what Fairy Tail wants to teach you.

Maybe it would have been a little out of character but I still would have liked to see one or more of Natsu's friends (such as Gray) learn that Natsu was E.N.D. and initially react negatively.
There was just SO much angst potential.
Edit: apparently this literally did happen and I just forgot so much of the Alvarez Empire arc that I forgot. Shame that Natsu was too crazy at the time to be sad about it.

Natsu and Achnologia clashed during the alvarez empire arc. Natsu had already defeated Achnologia but was sent to soul society. There he the gotei 13 110 years ago. There he met and fell in love Yoruchi.
"Hiya, stranger. Welcome to Shihouin compoud. Care to tell me why the hell you are here and how you got here in the first place~?"
Natsu heard the purr-lik teasing but sharp, forceful voice of the most gorgerous woman in the world. His black-colored gaze look at the short, purple-haired, yellow-eyed beauty looking at him with a half-cocky half-deadly expression on her impeccable face blessed with perfect womanly features.
"I-I am N-Natsu D-Dragneel and I was fighting someguy and I found myself waking up here" Natsu replied with a stutter and pink cheeks as he shyly look to the floor, unable to look at the awe-inspiring woman who was like a goddess to his love-inexperienced mind and lovelorn soul.

About Page | Headcanon page | Canon divs | Verses | Tags
Below are points I consider to be important regarding my muse and I hope they will be kept in mind during plotting/writing. Links to specific headcanon or divergence posts may be included in the below and I may add to this post in the future, as I go back over the manga or think about things further.
Note: filler arcs/chapters and the 100 Year Quest are not included as canon here.
Gajevy is Not canon on this blog. She does not have any romantic or whatever feelings for him. When Gaj attacked her during the FT vs PL arc, it had a huge effect on her (mentally, physically, and emotionally) and there are still echoes of that even now, despite her best efforts and the fact she does view him as a guildmate (even tho she’s not in the guild but you know what i mean).
Following the brutal defeat of Shadow Gear at the hands of Gajeel, and her becoming painfully aware of her lack of physical strength, Levy trained herself to increase her speed, agility/dexterity and learn techniques that would help her use her opponents strength or size against them. She also worked to increase her magical strength and capabilities. She is not to be underestimated, especially now.
Tenrou arc – as a way to try deal with her issues since Phantom Lord and Gajeel himself, she was the one that asked him to be her partner for the S-class trials.
The One Year - she did not retain her guildmark after FT was disbanded. She maintained contact with her friends where she could and they all made effort to continue to see and support each other.
She was involved in the trials of the Avatar members as she had been involved in that mission and was working for the Law and Enforcement department.
She only temporarily rejoined FT at the revival, intending just to help them get set up and, of course, to help with getting Makarov back from Alvarez if she could. She returned to work at the Council once he was back and she realised just how bad the situation was going to get.
Therefore, she was with the Council forces during the war and was leading some of the efforts. But she did get separated and so still ended up near Gajeel during his fight with Bloodman and did witness Gajeel ‘dying’ (tho this can be omitted depending on Gaj rpers canons)
After the war, she became the new Head of Magical Law Enforcement and was involved in the situation of Crime Sorciere and other’s conditional pardons. At times, she is supervising Macbeth/Midnight.
She still keeps in contact with her friends at FT and tries to get them to behave since she doesnt really want to have to arrest them or enforce anything too harsh (but she’ll do it if it comes down to it)
During her pre-FT childhood, her family’s living conditions were very poor (lack of warmth and food) and this had an adverse effect on her physical development and immune system. She would get sick quite easily, and although her health improved greatly upon being taken in by the orphanage (and later, Fairy Tail), she still had to be careful. Her health took another hit during the events with the Tartaros guild and the poisonous water she and the others were submerged in, and then again during the war with the Alvarez empire and the exposure to the Magic-Barrier Particles (Anti-Ethernano). She has done well in her recovery, all things considered, but her lungs have suffered some damage and are unlikely to ever fully recover.
Jet and Droy are both incredibly important to her (We do not accept Jet and Droy erasure on this blog). At FT’s revival, she almost committed to returning to the guild because she missed Shadow Gear and knew the boys enjoyed the guild life. They would have loved her to come back, but knew her job at the Council was important. They stayed with FT until after the war but have since retired from the guild mage life and returned to the jobs they picked up during the disbandment, realising they got more joy from it and that the guild mage life wasn’t for them after all. Shadow Gear still regularly hang out and message/call each other frequently too.
Her father was an avid researcher, she got her love of books and knowledge from him (she was constantly reading in the hopes of finding something interesting to share with him, or reading simply to distract herself from the quiet house and hunger pangs) but he was obsessed with his research, his quest to find the cure for magical illnesses and even death itself. He feared losing Levy the same way he had lost her mother. His attention to his research was so complete, he hardly acknowledged her, and she dared not interrupt him. She kept to herself. Part of her motivation to learn magic when she was younger, came from the hopes that in doing so, she would be good enough to hold his attention. The need to read as a means of calming herself, and the constant need to learn more and do better, are things she carries from her time with him.
Her mother died when she was very young. It became her mother’s best friend and fellow guildmate, Aubrey, that ended up mostly raising Levy. Aubrey took her away from her father when it became apparent the man couldn’t divide his focus between his work and his child, however she unfortunately became another soul lost to the cultists of Zeref sometime later. This left Levy to the hands of the orphanage in Magnolia.

Fairy Tail Arc Tier List
You know the drill. We're going from best to worst. (I'm not doing the sequel arcs, because I'm not sure how I feel about some of them.)
Bottom Tier
Alvarez Empire arc
This arc overall feels like Mashima couldn't wait to end the story and go on to something else. Wouldn't you guess, that's not too far from the truth. It doesn't have enough high notes to redeem itself.
Galuna Island arc
Longtime followers of me know that I'm not a fan of this arc. This arc exists to start dealing with the ever-frustrating Deliora situation. Almost nothing else in the arc has to happen as it does.
Low Tier
Daphne arc
I don't hate it as much as the rest of the fandom seems to, but I'm not putting this on any pedestal. This might be one of the best Gruvia arcs. I mean that unironically.
x791 arc
This arc is just kind of there, in canon. Though, that's not without reason.
Loke arc
One of the most important of the Lucy-centric arcs. This would be higher if I was higher on Lolu. Or Lucy.
Mid Tier
Eclipse arc
I've said this is one of the best arcs to place fanfiction for the series in. The difference is that this fanfiction has the canon backing of Mashima's approval.
Lullaby arc
This would be a better arc if Mashima was willing to kill Kageyama.
Zero arc
This arc would jump to at least a tier higher if the whole Zera situation wasn't a thing. This serves as an excellent origin story for Fairy Tail. Unfortunately, Zera is a thing that we can't ignore.
Key of the Starry Sky arc
The best of the anime arcs is middle of the road? That's better than a lot of series can say. Though, the idea of Michelle and the neo-Oracion Seis are better than large portions of the two arcs in the bottom tier.
Macao arc
The one that started it all. Fairy Tail has plenty of short arcs, huh? This was a great introduction to the guild and the main characters.
Tartarus arc
Did you know this was when Fairy Tail got dark? In all seriousness, this arc changed how we view the rest of the series, both before and after it. We're still seeing the outworkings of this arc in the sequel.
Oracion Seis arc
I mean, it's the Wendy arc? I'm not hyped over this arc or the characters it introduces, outside of Wendy. We got some great songs out of it in the anime, so there's that.
Phantom Lord arc
I don't know that fans recognize how important this arc was. Not just cementing Lucy as a Fairy Tail guild member. Not just establishing several fan-favorite characters. This arc set the tone for the rest of the series.
Fantasia arc
This was a fun arc with many cool twists. I like Laxus as a character and he's fun to see as an antagonist. Some of the best versions of many characters. Gray was done dirty, though.
High Tier
Sun Village arc
This is higher than others might expect. There aren't too many other arcs that are as much fun as this one, from start to finish. One of my most popular posts on this website involves this post.
Grand Magic Games arc
This one is lower than others might expect. There are two parts to this arc: fighting other guilds and the Festival of the Dragon King. If the arc was about just one, it might be top tier. Instead, we got this.
Tenrou Island arc
There's quite a lot going on in this arc. The S-Class trials, the battle against Grimoire Heart, and the formal introduction of both main antagonists. One of the best arcs from the jump to manga to anime.
Top Tier
Edolas arc
Speaking of arcs the anime improved, this marked my reintroduction to the anime. Outside of its sentimental value, I love this arc. It marks a turning point for the series.
Daybreak arc
This was the arc that sold Fairy Tail for me. Honestly, I'm not an anime fan without this arc. It's still crazy how different Natsu and Lucy are from this arc. And yet, it's the beginning of their partnership.
Avatar arc
Why don't more people like this arc? This might be the purest version of Fairy Tail rolled into one arc. The stretch from chapter 430 to the end of the arc is one of my favorite in the series. It would be the best, but...
Tower of Heaven arc
This might be the only arc I'd say ranks comfortably among Mashima's best arcs ever. Its ripple effects can be felt throughout the series. Even the ending after Mashima planned was amazing.
