“I swear on my life to protect Small Lady...”
“Usako… I’ll take charge of Chibiusa…”
Usagi curled deeper into herself on her bed, trying to ignore the persistent pain in her chest. Mamoru’s voice haunted her mind, taunting, telling her things she knew were irrational, knew were absurd, and yet… and yet…
At first, Mamoru’s bond with Chibiusa only bothered Usagi in a very juvenile sense: someone was taking precious time away from her beloved boyfriend. But slowly, like a terrible poison, her initial envy blossomed into a deadly garden.
“I’m jealous of my own daughter,” she whispered to herself, staring into the palm of her hand before clenching it tightly into a fist, as if willing her nails to break her skin, to bleed. “God help me, what’s wrong with me?”
A gentle knock on her door jolted her from her reverie.
“Usagi-chan? Can I come in?” It was Minako, her voice muffled by the door, but her tender tone was still the lifeline Usagi needed.
Suddenly, the reality of everything – Mars, Mercury, Jupiter’s abductions; Chibiusa’s true identity; everyone living to be nearly a thousand years old before the Black Moon’s evil destroyed the world – came crashing down over Usagi’s ears. The room seemed to tilt with the gravity of all that she had learned, seen, felt in the past twenty-four hours.
With a choked sob, Usagi bolted out of bed, rushed to open her bedroom door, and flung herself into her best friend’s arms, wailing incoherently.
If Minako was startled by the storm of emotions thrust upon her, she had the tact to not show it. Gently, she steered her inconsolable friend back into her room, closing the door behind them.
“There, there, Usagi-chan,” she cooed, reaching up and plucking the bobby pins from Usagi’s buns. “Sit down, take deep breaths for me, okay? That’s it, nice and slow…”
She continued to undo Usagi’s buns, stepping away only to pick up a hairbrush lying on the vanity desk, returning to sit on her knees on the bed to brush out her friend’s long hair. As Minako gently brushed away, Usagi’s hysteria began to quiet, her breathing stabilized, her tears drying on her cheeks.
“Wanna talk about it?” Minako asked softly.
“I… Mina-chan, I’m terrible.”
“No, you’re not.”
“What kind of mother is jealous – romantically jealous of her own daughter?!” Usagi sobbed.
“Damn, addressing the dog in the barn that fast, huh?”
“It’s ‘elephant in the room,’” Usagi muttered with a hiccup that could have been a laugh under different circumstances.
Mina waved her hand, before returning to her work, now focusing on braiding Usagi’s hair into two parts. “Whatever. The point is I’m proud of you for directly addressing the problem.”
“See? I am the problem here–”
“Don’t put words in my mouth, sweetheart. I said the problem, not your problem. The first step to fixing mistakes is admitting to them. And you’re not a bad person for feeling that way, Usagi-chan.”
“Then, what do you think of me, Mina-chan?” Usagi demanded, whirling part way around and looking into her friend’s eyes.
Minako smiled, a knowing mysterious smile, the same kind of smile she donned when she was masquerading as the Moon Princess. “I think you’re human. No, let me finish. You’re human, Usagi. Human beings are complicated. We’re kinda dumb, too, let’s be real. Is your jealousy stupid, wrong, even? Sure, but that doesn’t make YOU bad. Feelings are feelings. We girls can’t help it.”
Usgai sniffled, fresh tears pricking the corners of her blue eyes. “Since when did you switch places with Ami for being the smart one?” she mumbled, her throat closing up as she wiped her eyes.
“I’m gonna ignore that jab because you’re crying and because you’re only human.”
The girls giggled, and for a moment were silent, Minako nearly done with the first braid.
“Mina-chan, I don’t understand why I feel this way.”
“Who can say?”
“B-but, it was bad enough when Chibiusa was just a mysterious girl! Now that I know who she is, that should have made me feel relieved, right?”
“Probably.”
“Then, why–?”
“Speaking as your Friendly Neighborhood Goddess of Love, I hate to break it to you, Usagi-chan, but feelings are not rational. That’s why they’re so addicting. It’s easy losing ourselves into them. Trust me, I know.”
Minako paused to tie a hair ribbon at the bottom of the first braid before working on the second. Usagi remained patiently quiet, biting her lower lip as she pondered Mina’s words.
“The fact of the matter is,” Minako continued calmly, “you are the reincarnation of the Moon Princess Serenity. You have regained your past life’s memories, and it ended tragically. You lost Endymion to hate, and you almost lost Mamoru recently to Queen Beryl’s twisted love, so it’s not entirely illogical that the next living thing to bond with Mamoru would fill you with irrational jealousy.”
Usagi opened her mouth to protest, but Minako reached around and placed a finger on her lips.
“I’m not condoning your feelings. But I’m also not going to attack you for them, either. I get it. Feelings are complicated. Just try to remember that this is Mamoru we’re talking about. Tell me truly, Usagi-chan: do you really think Mamoru, your Mamoru, would willingly be seduced by his daughter? Or God forbid, do the seducing?”
“Of course not!”
“Then, what are your feelings telling you?” Minako returned to her braiding.
“I… I just can’t lose Mamoru, Mina-chan, I can’t! Not again!”
“Who says Chibiusa will be the cause of his loss?”
“Because… because she…. She loves Mamoru!”
“Lots of little girls have crushes on their fathers.”
“Exactly! Oh… oh gods, Mina,” Usagi blubbered, “how can I even think that?!”
“Let me ask you something: did you ever think or say when you were young that you wanted to marry your father?”
“I think so. Mama caught it on camera and showed it to me a few years ago. It was so embarrassing!”
“How did your mom react?”
“She thought it was hilarious and adorable. She thought it was the sweetest thing, having a husband who dotes on their daughter.”
“Hmmm.”
“Mina-chan, the more you ask these questions, the more obvious it is that I am in the wrong, here!”
“Well, of course, you’re in the wrong, Usagi-chan,” Minako said matter-of-factly, “but that doesn’t make you the villain.”
“Ack! Stab me in the back next time, why dontcha?!”
Minako laughed, finishing up Usagi’s braids and hugging her best friend’s shoulders. “Oh, my silly, insecure princess! I’m trying to help you unpack!”
“Unpack?”
“The real reasons you’re so jealous. It’s not Mamoru’s character you distrust, and it seems like you didn’t learn anything weird from your parents. I mean, hell, I doubt there was a lolicon rival in your past life, but you never know…”
“Oh, hush!”
They fell into giggles again. After another affectionate squeeze about her friend’s shoulders, Minako hopped off the bed to rummage through Usagi’s hair accessories. Usagi certainly felt calmer, and most definitely very foolish, but also rather pensive. Why did she feel such intense jealousy towards her future daughter?
“Mina,” she said slowly, tentatively, “maybe I just…”
“Hmm?”
“Maybe I just… hate Mamo-chan splitting his attention…between, um, Chibiusa and me…” Usagi trailed off, highly embarrassed, hoping her friend wouldn’t chastise her.
“Yeah, I figured as much.”
“Eh?!”
“Well, yeah, think about it.” Minako turned around, some artificial flowers in one of her hands, as she ticked off the reasons with her other fingers. “One, the whole tragic reincarnation thing blah blah blah. Two, teen girl in love. Three, teen boyfriend has a tendency to be kidnapped and brainwashed by crazy chicks with a crush on him. Four, teenage girl grew up pampered and sheltered and is suddenly thrust into fighting evil, regains her tragic backstory memories, and now has to live with the knowledge that one day she’ll become official royalty again, only this time it’ll be on Earth, the place that she fell in love in ancient times, but also the cause of her previous life’s doom, and –”
“Okay, okay, I get it,” Usagi cried, half-laughing, half-blushing.
“Do you, though?” Minako said shrewdly, as she began clipping the flowers into Usagi’s braids.
Usagi chewed her bottom lip. The truth was that she definitely felt calmer and more rational about the whole mess in her heart, even if most of the jealousy was now replaced with shame. But still…. Minako had been gentle, understanding, despite all evidence revealing that she deserved otherwise. Usagi suddenly envisioned the other girls here, if they were never abducted, and how they’d react.
Makoto would also have been kind. She knew better than anyone how powerful emotions were, and how blinding love can be. But she also was not the jealous type. She tended to “suffer in silence” due to unrequited love, rather than lash out in a fit of jealousy. Plus, Usagi doubted that Mako would provide the kind of levity that Minako’s jokes did. (Granted, she could go for some of Mako’s delicious baking right about now…)
Poor Ami would have tried to resolve it logically. She’d probably talk about how it would be physiologically against Mamoru’s better judgment to find Chibiusa attractive because of her age and biological connection as his daughter, and that Mamoru did not have any history or symptoms of mental illnesses that would make him a terrible exception to the rules. She would have been, as Minako would put it, “too real,” and put an emphasis on the uncomfortable facts surrounding Usagi’s turmoil.
Rei, on the other hand? For a brief, terrible moment, Usagi imagined Rei’s fiery temper, usually kept under cool restraints due to her spiritual training, unleashed. She involuntarily shuddered.
“I’m glad it’s you and not Rei talking to me about this,” Usagi mumbled, half-hoping her words wouldn’t be heard.
As it so happened, that was not the case, since Minako immediately burst out laughing.
“Ohhhh, I can only imagine Rei’s reaction! She’s bad enough when Mako-chan and I gush about cute boys. You know how ‘superior’ she is to all things related to the heart. Should we enlighten her and the girls once we rescue them?” she added with a wicked tone.
“MINA-CHAN!! You wouldn’t dare–!”
“I’m teasing, Usagi-chan. Your secret is safe with me. Although,” Minako said with a more serious voice, “you know you’ll have to talk to Mamoru.”
“I… I kinda already did.”
A pause. Minako fiddled with the last flower connecting Usagi’s plaits at the end, waiting.
Usagi took a shuddering breath, and whispered, “It was just before we – we first traveled to the 30th century. I told Mamoru that Chibiusa was obviously in love with him, and that – and that —”
Usagi closed her eyes, tears welling up and threatening to spill. She clenched her fists and blurted out the horrible truth: “And that it didn’t matter her age, she’s still a woman!”
Minako let out a low whistle. “Oof…. How did Mamoru take that?”
“Oh, you know him. He’s kind, so kind. He didn’t shame or correct me. He only embraced me and assured me that he loved only me.” Usagi was crying again now, wiping her eyes. “He… he held me close, he… he made love to me,” she confessed hoarsely, hearing Minako suck in her breath. “After I said that, after I basically admitted that I saw Chibiusa as a romantic rival, after he knew something so awful and ugly was in my heart, and oh, oh, Mina-chan, what did I d-do to deserve that man? How can I still doubt him after that? How can I still – still —”
She couldn’t finish her sentence. Her sobs were wracking her body once more. She was vaguely aware of Minako shifting positions and holding her close to her chest, patting her head, and whispering soothing words. Usagi wailed and sobbed and cried her heart out, loathing herself, grateful for Minako’s presence, relieved that Mamoru or Chibiusa or her other friends were not present. Of all the people in the world, Sailor Venus seemed to be the best suited companion for this absurd, painful crisis in her heart.
“--- gi-chan? Usagi-chan? You still with me? Okay, now wipe your eyes.”
With a great heaving breath, Usagi nodded, accepting the handkerchief being offered to her. She blew her nose, sniffled some more, and looked up to see Minako’s eyes were overly bright and tender.
“Mina-chan…?”
“Usagi… You need to talk with Mamoru. You can’t just sit here and dwell on your feelings while leaving poor Mamoru alone. This is your relationship, your future, that you’re trying to save. It’s more than just Chibiusa.”
It’s more than Chibusa…. Yes, yes, that was precisely why her jealousy, of any kind, was so absurdly selfish. Some of the burden on Usagi’s shoulders lifted, ironically, at that moment. Somehow, thinking of it that way, it puts things in perspective unlike anything else.
Minako seemed to sense the gravity of Usagi’s thoughts, because she followed up with a would-be casual, “I mean, come on, are you really gonna let Fate try to destroy your love again, all because you’re projecting your fears and worries onto a 8-technically-900-year-old child?”
The two friends looked at each other and burst out laughing. After her two previous breakdowns, suddenly laughter was dangerously addicting, as Usagi swiftly found herself out of breath, clutching her sides, practically wheezing, tears streaming down her face again, only this time, with mirth. Minako was just as bad, but her grins had a distinct touch of triumphant smugness to them.
Finally, recovered, Usagi hopped out of bed, glancing at her vanity mirror and approving Minako’s work of making her look like an innocent, adorable flower girl, and heaved a few deep sighs.
“You’re right, Mina-chan. All of it. I may not help my feelings, but that doesn’t mean I have to act on them when it means hurting the ones I love. I have to go see Mamo-chan. Cover for me, wouldja?”
“Hold your cats, missy,” Minako said sharply before Usagi could bolt out of her room.
(“It’s ‘hold your horses,’ Usagi grumbled, but she still obediently halted in her tracks and faced her best friend.)
Minako was rummaging through her purse that she had left on Usagi’s vanity table. Then, she tossed a few packets to Usagi, who immediately shrieked and nearly dropped them, gazing at Mina in horror, her face turning redder by the second.
Minako, on the other hand, looked shamelessly unperturbed.
“Listen, sweetie, babygirl, my dearest princess and future queen, I am very proud of you for coming this far in our deep conversation, but if you and Mamoru decide to get down and bone as a way to make up, it’s always best to take precautions–”
“M-M-M-MINA-CHAN!”
“Usagi-chan, you literally just confessed to me you’re no longer a virgin, this is hardly the time to act like one–”
“THAT– THAT’S NOT THE POINT!”
“Well, let me put it another way: do you really want to conceive Chibiusa now?”
Usagi squeaked something incoherent. Minako plunged on, relentless.
“I’m just saying, girl. Giiiiirl. You’ve barely gotten over your Electra Complex Jealousy Mode, and Chibiusa is currently at Mamoru’s apartment. It’s gonna get real awkward if you get pregnant and have to double down and explain to Mamoru that ‘no, Mamo-chan, I swear, I’m not jealous of the fetus inside my womb!’”
“I thought you understood where I was coming from!” Usagi protested, half-laughing through her mortification.
“I do, but that doesn’t mean I don’t reserve the right to give you a little shit for it.” Minako winked, then crossed over the room and hugged Usagi tightly. “We all love you, princess, flaws and all. But it’s time for you to own up to your flaws and talk with your boyfriend honestly, the whole thing, no punches held back.”
Speechless, Usagi embraced her back, overwhelmed in her half-ashamed, half-mollified state of mind. They squeezed each other, then Minako abruptly let go, spun her around and pushed her towards the door.
“Now, get going and get laid, honey! You’ll feel loads better, especially when it’s not an angsty session like your first time.”
“Mina-chan, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were speaking from experience —”
“Wow, would you look at the time! You better get going and go get your man before he’s asleep!”

I made a Reading List for the Sailor Moon Manga Canon
I composed this reading list for the entire manga, Sailor Moon, Sailor V and the side stories too.
I admit I haven’t ‘road tested’ this list so if anyone tries it out (or even just looks over the below) and has any advice to improve it I am very open to taking suggestions.
The names of the chapters are in reference to the Eternal Editions which I used as the ‘skeleton’ for this list. My aim was to include everything in such a way that did not give away spoilers and retained as much drama and narrative flow as possible. My thinking was, how would I recommend the series to a first time reader who wants to experience everything at once.
To this end I opted to avoid disrupting the Sailor Moon story arcs and slot everything else in between them. In general I tried to slot everything in as close to when they chronologically take place as possible, so if a side story takes place during an arc I’ve placed it immediately after that arc for example. The downside of this is that the narrative flow gets interrupted whenever an arc ends in a cliffhanger that gets picked up at the beginning of the next arc.
My internal rationale for this is that the arcs are akin to a season of television, wherein you inevitably get breaks in between anyway. So the side stories are a chance to decompress after the climactic events of one arc and before we begin a new one. If you are a Marvel fan, it is a little like getting two more relaxed Marvel movies immediately after Avengers: Infinity War’s cliffhanger and before Avengers: Endgame picks up after said cliffhanger.
With all that out the way, here is my proposed reading order:

So there’s this negima fic that starts as a basic what if kinda thing (what if negi roomed with chisame and hakase instead of asuna and konoka) that quickly devolved into an ultra mega crossover between, like, twenty different animes, comics, and cartoons, plus at least two other major negima fics
It’s very long
So I don’t have the patience/stamina to reread the fic itself, but I learned that the author started a sequel fic (without actually finishing the first one I think? Straight up could’ve just continued updating the original story as far as I can tell but that’s neither here nor there), and it’s honestly kind of a blast jumping in at a point where I remember most of the weird character things (one negima character is sailor mercury in this continuity, another one got abducted by haruhi suzumiya’s group and is acting as the kyon character… wasn’t kidding about the crossover thing) but also I haven’t run into just plain story fatigue by recently reading like a million words of this au

old sailor moon fic idea i had
so i had this idea ages back and i can’t find my notes from it, but it was this sailor moon fanfic wherein it’s after the Stars arc and Usagi and Mamoru have gone and gotten married at last, and they’re away on their honeymoon to America (since Mamoru was originally on his way to Harvard when he was abducted?/Killed? it’s been a while since i’ve read the manga) and basically they’re out of the country and unable to come back for some time.
And the world has been peaceful and stuff, to the point that the senshi have forgotten that sometime soon some big event is going to happen that’s going to cause earth to be frozen until the 30th century, and then Usagi will become Neo-Queen Serenity and establish Neo-Crystal Tokyo. Like, this has to happen, but because of there being no need for the sailor senshi for quite a long time now, they just kind of.... had it slip their minds that something terrible is going ot be happening soon.
anyway, so usagi’s around 20-21 at this time, and she becomes Neo-Queen Serenity at age 22 (according to the manga, i think). So that’s the situation up to the point of when i have the AU set.
So, while Usagi and Mamoru are away on their honeymoon, a mysterious enemy begins appearing and leaving withered husks of people in their wake. or places where they’ve appeared or attacked look like they’ve become ancient ruins and stuff like that. by the time the sailor senshi arrive to deal with the situation though, every time, there’s other people there and they’ve just defeated the bad guys and are about to leave.
well one day, the hikawa shrine is attacked directly and Rei transforms to fight the monster before the mysterious heroes arrive. and while she’s strong, the enemy is stronger. when the mystery heroes get there, she gets a good look at them and sees that they wear armor rather than a traditional sailor senshi uniform. but some of their attacks are very similar to ones she and the senshi use, even if the names of the attacks are different. mind you, there’s only like, 3 or 4 of these heroes at the time. when the fight’s over she’s like “who are you people? are you here to help us?” and one in gold armor is like “you could say that.” and then they leave.
anyway, so the plan for the story was for these heroes to end up joining the sailor senshi to fight off this new evil and over the course of the story, which was going to be chaptered and rather long, the senshi learning that these heroes are the Knights of the Golden Millennium Solar Kingdom, which is from a parallel universe, and their universe was destroyed by an evil entity called Entropy, which was that universe’s version of Chaos. And this other universe is genderswapped, save for the Knight from Uranus, who’s non-binary (AMAB). And it’s not a weird time thing that’s happening to the places where these attacks happen, it’s pieces of their world manifesting in the sailor senshi’s universe. A universe where Earth is a ruinous wasteland because the evil sorcerer King Beryllium managed to win the war against the Golden Millenium and kill Queen Serenity, who was not residing on Earth’s moon at the time, but on the planet Apollo, which was situated between Mars and Jupiter. The knights had been forced to take refuge in a neighboring star system as Beryllium took over their entire solar system for his master, Entropy.
Anyway, so eventually the two teams will fully team up, the senshi will get a power boost (but not new forms), and basically have to hold the fort until Usagi and Mamoru get back. The couple end up getting back to Japan during a lull in the fighting period and get caught up on what’s been happening.
I forget what happened between this point and the big battle against the baddie, but essentially it was a situation where the knights end up sacrificing their lives to help Usagi freeze the world to stop Entropy from spreading, and Prince Apollo, the genderswapped Usagi, uses his golden crystal (again, the other universe version of the Silver Crystal), and temporarily fuses it with the silver crystal to trap Entropy and send it where it can never harm anyone again... only, that doesn’t exactly go to plan - as it ends up being sent to the Cauldron (the same galaxy cauldron from the Stars arc), where it will end up ultimately fusing with Chaos leading to a more powerful enemy waaaaay in the future for Sailor Cosmos to fight.
Prince Apollo dies, with his final wish being that Usagi keep his crystal and that one day, if the universe is ever in danger from Entropy again, she is to take his powers and use them herself to protect life.
eons later, when all is lost, this will ultimately lead Neo-Queen Serenity to combine the Silver Crystal with Apollo’s golden one, giving her the ultimate form of Sailor Cosmos, elevating her power to that of godhood so that she can fight Chaos, who is now the combined powers of Chaos and Entropy.
Cosmos will flee at some point into the past to help Eternal Sailor Moon - the Stars arc - and when she returns, the fires of her hope re-lit, she knows what she must do. because she’s already done it once before. she fights Chaos, and manages to lure it back into the cauldron and this time she goes with it, and tells the guardian fairy that yes, she wishes to start again.
And so, in the cauldron, the powers of sailor cosmos and of chaos are dissolved, broken down into their most basic components. first chaos is separated from entropy. then each separated from their star seeds. then the seeds sent out. their essences scattered once again into the void to eventually coallesce into existence again. and sailor cosmos’s power is broken down as well. the silver and golden crystals separated again. the silver crystal’s power broken down further into smaller chunks - star seeds - and sent out to a fledgling solar system. the golden crystal is broken down into smaller chunks... but rather than star seeds, these are heart sparks - which is what they were called in the parallel universe - which rather than go into a person, they go into the cores of the planets and planetoids of that same fledgling solar system that the silver crystal star seeds went to. one star seed goes to what will become Earth’s moon while one spark bypasses it and the world forming between what would become mars and jupiter, and goes directly into the heart of the star in the center of the new solar system, Sol.
And it’s revealed at the end by the fairy that this is a never-ending cycle. sure, the little things change constantly with each iteration, but the key points of each “cycle” remains the same. chaos and entropy will rise up, and to protect all life, a king and a queen will rise up as well and use their combined power to cleave the universe in two, leading to two parallel universes. in one entropy, in another chaos. and sometimes it swaps - the star seeds will fight entropy and the heart sparks will fight chaos. but eventually one will fall and rejoin the other. Sometimes there’s Neo-Queen Serenity, sometimes there’s Neo-King Apollo. Sometimes there’s Sailor Cosmos at the end of all things. Sometimes it’s the Cosmic Knight. But always, it ends and then begins again. Their faces may change, but their souls, their star seeds, their heart sparks remain the same, as does their mission - to protect all life in whatever form it may take, from the darkness until it’s time to start over.
SIDE NOTE - the senshi’s names are always their planets, Sailor Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, etc. The knights are always called things like “Sir Ares, Sir Hermes, Sir Zeus” etc with that world’s version of Mamoru being “Lady Gaia”. And that world’s version of Usagi and Mamoru (Apollo and Gaia) also have a tragic love story, with Princess Gaia running away from Earth to join Prince Apollo against the wishes of her father who is brainwashed by the wicked King Beryllium with the intent of making Princess Gaia marry him.

In many cultures, we find stories, myths and legends of inhabitants of invisible realms, be they fairy, djinn or iwin that abduct the living to their sanctuary in the wood, the ocean or the 'other side'. A common theme is that the abducted is thought of as dead and time moves slower in the place of abduction, making their return a resurrection. To leave this world, this reality we living have agreed upon, is a death. It is transition and transformation.
With the Vodou mystes La Siren and Bawon Samedi, we find the paradox of how the living is brought to temporal death and how the dead become temporally alive, challenging our worldview and our materialistic ideas of reality, hinting towards a greater dynamic and a wider landscape of ingress and expansion.
La Siren, the myste of seduction, poetry and music, is also the sorcerous powers of the Ocean. She is known to abduct babies and to bring sailors to a watery death. She is usually considered a Rada lwa—and this is true—but we need to understand that Rada is rasin, of the root, and not a reference to the 'calm' law of Vodoun. Rada is the royal side of Vodou, where the memory of Ginen and even memories more distant pulsate deeply within each of the lwa that find their place there. All of them have their fiery aspect and can turn Petwo, or la flambeau so to speak. La Siren turns petwo when she seeks a death and threat, but then she is no longer La Siren, but Brijit, wife of Bawon Samedi, where she, like a shark, generates whirlpools in the waters to bring you down to her dark depths. This aspect of La Siren is found in the prime representation of Bawon Samedi, the cross. The cross holds in Vodou several secret meanings, and one of them is that the root of the cross stretches down in the abysmal waters where we find Brijit as an Undine Queen, a dragon. Hence together they are the perfect mercury of any psychopomp dancing in the waters abysmal and celestial and generate the possibility for ascent as much as for descent.

Sailor Mars woke up in a dazed state. Her body was sore and heavy. As her eyes began to focus, shock and fear sink into her, as she discovers she was in an unfamiliar place, stuck behind bars, in a cage. With the only source of light, a torch, illuminating faintly over her head. It was almost impossible to see and make out anything. Studying her surroundings, she was stun, horrified and sickened to see a pile of corpse close to her. Panic. Her mind began to race, frantically trying to put the bits and pieces together.
As her memories fall into place, she began to recall confronting Koan, who claims to be a member of the Black Moon, one of the youngest siblings of the Ayakashi Sisters. Mars remembers how the witch overpowers her. Trapping her in her flame barrier. Instantly, her body began to aches, as it recalls the painful burning sensation. She remembers next, hearing Sailor Moon and Mercury’s voices, panicking as they try to aid her, but it wasn’t enough and she soon passes out.
Sighing. Things became clear to the Senshi. That she has been abducted and capture by the enemies. Mumbling to herself. “I need to escape…” And trying to move. She discovers both of her hands are bound and chain to the wall. Infuriated. The Senshi of War tries to summon her fire attack to melt the shackles away, but it was hopeless. Something within the dense and heavy air. Plus the overwhelming stench of miasma. The weaken Senshi could sense negative energy in the atmosphere. Robbing and draining her strength and powers away from her.
Faintly hearing a voice, a sinister laugh. She looks up. “WHO’S THERE?” The hot temper Senshi snapped at the stranger. “SHOW YOURSELF!” Demanding whoever it was, to show their ugly smug face. As the figures stepped into the light, the Sailor Senshi wasn’t able to recognize him. But from the dim light, she was able to make out. The sinister laugh came from a young man, with dark blue hair and fairly pale skin. Another thing that draws her attention was his upside-down crescent moon on his forehead.

“Break Me” / Sailor Mars x Prince Demando
Leave a “Break Me” in my ask, and I will write an angsty drabble about our characters.
How long had she been here? Despite her struggle and her many efforts to stay awake, she kept losing consciousness and track of time. At some point she noticed she wasn’t alone anymore in the dark cave. Mercury first, then Jupiter joined them - but they couldn’t even share a word. Deprived of their energy, they lost their powers and fell back into a dreamless slumber.Mars only seemed to be able to wake up, though it never lasted. Maybe they never were awake at the same time; this was a possibility.
How long had she been here? As she wondered about it once more, there was someone in front of her. She gathered all her strength to raise her head and meet with cold purple eyes - then she was gone again.The man showed up a few more times. Mars never got his name, if he ever introduced himself, but she could tell he was the one behind their abduction. Perhaps the mastermind of these new enemies. She tried in vain to wake Jupiter and Mercury up so they could think of a plan but just crawling to their side was her limit. This was a nightmare.
Then one day (was it day? Night? Were they even on Earth?) she woke up feeling a little bit… better than all those previous times. She had enough energy to sit down and look around, though she was still too weak to transform, but she didn’t feel like she would faint again right away. This was an improvement. The room was brighter than before, when she could barely tell where the forms of Mercury and Jupiter were; they were still unconscious but she could see them clearly now, as well as their gloomy surroundings.She was gathering her thoughts and thinking of what to do when she noticed him. The same man as usual was here as well, sitting not far from her on a chair that definitely wasn’t here before. He smiled when their eyes met.
“As I thought. Weakening the power of the reactor just a bit and you are at least able to breathe. Though I don’t think you can do much more.”
Mars had so much questions - but she knew just how vulnerable she was, deprived of her powers and most probably in the enemy’s territory. So she just glared at him, but that only made him laugh.
“Oh, she was right! You are a fierce one.”
She?Mars was about to ask what he knew about her and why were she and her friends locked here when she heard the sound of heels walking down stairs.
“Demando? Are you here?”
That voice!A sudden rush of hope, affection and joy made Mars’s features lighten up. She was here! She was here to save them!The sound got closer and closer, and soon Mars could see the long skirt of a white gown. Long blonde hair glistened in the faint light of the room, a pale hand over her eyes as she got used to the darkness of the room. Yes, it really was Sailor Moon!
Tears of joy on the corner of her eyes, Mars stood up to run, if she could that, to her friend - but a wave of dark energy restricted her moves. Who was doing that? Usagi was right here and she couldn’t even move or say a word to her! That man would pay for that. That man… that… why was Usagi talking to that man? Why— was she touching his arm in a simple yet strangely intimate way?An unexpected sight made Mars choke on her breath, and hope slowly wash away from her face. When Usagi lowered her hand, as she looked around the room, she noticed the black crescent on her forehead. She was wearing the same black crystal earrings as their enemies. On her head, a tiara of white and black pearls surrounding a crescent-shaped crystal.No… it couldn’t be…
Usagi seemed to notice Mars and her gaze - oh, that was the worse. She looked at her with not a single emotion on her face, like she was a mere insect, but as she turned her head, her eyes sparkled once again - as she looked at that man. Those were her usual eyes, full of life and glittering. If only they were empty and soulless, as if she was under a spell, Mars would still believe she could bring back her friend but this– this person in front of her, was the true Usagi.
“So, Serenity? What do you want to do with them?” the man asked before kissing her hand.
Usagi’s glare was back on Mars and she could tell- that dark energy filling the room and restraining her was actually coming from her.
“U… sa…gi—-” she managed after a painful effort, gathering all her strength to raise her arm.
“How dare you address me in such a vulgar way?” she slapped away Mars’s hand with disgust.“I am Neo Queen Serenity, queen of Nemesis! Send them back to Earth or let them rot here if you prefer, Demando. I don’t care. I have no use for these useless soldiers anymore.”
A strangled noise escaped Mars’s lips, but she found herself unable to say another word, unable to turn away when Usagi ran her hand into that man’s hair to pull him closer for a kiss.The energy restraining her only allowed her to fall on her knees.
“Then I shall send them away, my Queen.” purple eyes met with Mars’s dark ones, and a triumphant smile played on the prince’s lips. “I have no use for them either.”
That was the last thing she saw before her conscious faded away, burning into her memory the sight of her beloved princess posing as a cold Queen, in the tight embrace of the man who stole her away.

I had just sent my manuscript for Chapter 74 of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger to Shueisha. I received a phone call from Miyako. She had gathered the other Powerpuffs, the Mane Six, and the three remaining Sailor Senshi together and needed me to be at the Gotokujis household as well. I immediately got ready and headed to Cerulean City. When I got to the Gotokuji household, I noticed that Usagi seemed even more upset now that Ami had been abducted as well as Rei. I had sensed what the Black Moon clan had been up to and we all realized that they might be after Chibiusa, so we decided to protect her at all costs. A few hours later, Makoto had caught an illness that seemed to be plaguing Animation Land. Thankfully, Powerpuffs were immune to every disease in existence, so it didn’t affect us. We helped Makoto home, with help from a schoolmate of Mamoru, Asanuma. Asanuma admitted that weird things have been happening. Makoto revealed that she was a Sailor Senshi and that we were fighting a powerful enemy. Asanuma respected her and decided to keep her secret. Just then, a UFO appeared, right as Makoto fainted. We quickly realized that it was the Black Moon clan that spread the disease. The mastermind behind this scheme was Petz, the oldest of the four Spectre Sisters, who was ordered to replace the people of Animation Land with Droids. We immediately took down every double that Petz created. Just then, Makoto was being attacked by her double. I helped her transform into Sailor Jupiter and she easily took down the Droid. Petz then trapped Sailor Jupiter in a prison of pure air and wind. I immediately called for Sailors Moon and Venus, who were busy fighting the Droids. Sailor Moon used her Moon Princess Halation to destroy Petz, but the UFO took Sailor Jupiter away. I could sense Sailors Mercury and Mars in that same UFO. The Sailor Senshi were disappearing before our very eyes, so I decided to keep an eye out for the last of the Spectre Sisters. The very next day, the seventy-fourth chapter of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and sold over 200 million copies.

I had just started working on my script for Chapter 74 of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. I received a phone call from Miyako. She explained to me that Usagi had been upset following Rei’s abduction and therefore, couldn’t help us defeat Tentacles Lay Priest. Miyako also told me that Usagi was accusing Chibiusa of working with the Black Moon clan, but she saw a necklace with a key. The Legendary Silver Crystal appeared to be inside it. I figured that Chibiusa would be useful in dealing with the Black Moon clan, so I went to Mamoru’s house to talk to her. Chibiusa proceeded to tell me that she was looking for Sailor Moon’s help to save her parents. I later passed the information onto my fellow Powerpuffs, the Mane Six, and the four remaining Sailor Senshi. We proceeded to discuss who the Black Moon clan were and how they could rescue Sailor Mars. A few hours later, a mysterious woman challenged Ami to a chess match, with Ami ending up victorious. I realized that woman was Berthier, the second of the Black Moon clan’s Spectre Sisters. My fellow Powerpuffs, the Mane Six, Sailor Senshi and I managed to destroy Berthier’s Droids, but then, Berthier focused the water in the sewers and used it to trap Sailor Mercury in a prison of pure liquid water. Sailor Moon managed to destroy Berthier with her Moon Princess Halation, but couldn’t destroy the watery orb. Sailor Mercury was then abducted by a UFO that I could tell was part of the Black Moon clan. Judging by two Sailor Senshi being abducted, I realized that the Black Moon clan would be far stronger than the Dark Kingdom, so I began practicing intensely to prepare for the next encounter.

Infiltration, Sailor Mars
I had just finished my script for Chapter 73 of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. I decided to take a walk through Stroller Park. I ran into Usagi and Mamoru, who were sharing a moment. Suddenly, a mysterious girl, about 10 years of age, landed on Usagi. It turns out this girl was also named Usagi. She pointed a pistol at my sister and demanded for the Legendary Silver Crystal. I could tell this pistol was just a toy. This “chibi” Usagi fled and we, along with my other fellow Powerpuffs and the Mane Six, later found her on a swing. All of us then went to the Tsukino household, where “Chibiusa”, as we’ll call her, hypnotized the Tsukino family into letting her stay with them. Usagi was enraged by this, but I told her to save her anger, as I feared that a new enemy would arrive and that I would need help from my fellow Powerpuffs, the Mane Six, and the rest of the Sailor Senshi in order to take it down. A few hours later, I spoke with Luna and Artemis about this new enemy and they proceeded to equip Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako with new transformation devices and new communicators. I suddenly sensed that the first member of this new enemy was at T&A Girls’ Academy, the same school that Rei attended. I immediately rounded up my fellow Powerpuffs and the Mane Six and we set off for T&A Girls’ Academy. Shigeru, Dexter, Koji, Takashi, and I had to transform into schoolgirls in order to blend in. I found Rei, who immediately saw through my transformation. I began to tell her that a new enemy had arrived at this school before finding her. She was Koan, a member of the Spectre Sisters, which were part of the villainous Black Moon clan. Meanwhile, Rei discovered two droids disguised as nuns. She transformed into Sailor Mars and used her Burning Mandala attack to destroy them. Koan unleashed her identity and trapped Sailor Mars in a flame barrier. Usagi saw this and transformed into Sailor Moon. She tried using her Moon Tiara Action on Koan, but it just bounced right back. Koan sent out more droids, but then, Sailor Mercury showed up and used her Shine Snow Illusion to destroy them. Just then, Sailor Moon got a new Moon Stick, called the Cutie Moon Rod, which was born out of Usagi’s and Mamoru’s romantic affections for each other. Sailor Moon immediately used its attack, Moon Princess Halation, to kill Koan. However, Sailor Mars was still trapped inside the flame barrier and suddenly disappeared. I could tell that Sailor Mars was abducted by the Black Moon clan, which were going to be much more dangerous than the Dark Kingdom was, so I decided to train excessively to set myself on equal footing with them. The Gotokujis and Mane Six decided to do the same.

Rei, Sailor Mars
I had just finished my script for Chapter 16 of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. Suddenly, an announcement came on the radio. There had been a bus that would take children and they would never be seen again. This was the Demon 6:00 PM Bus. I knew this crime was too complicated for the Black Cross Army to commit, so it must have been the doing of that other villainous organization. The Gotokujis and Mane Six came to my door. They had heard the announcement, too. A few hours later, we were walking around Animation Land when I saw Usagi and Ami being attacked by a pair of crows. It turns out they just thought they were evil spirits, as did their owner, a young girl named Rei Hino. Apparently, her friend was also abducted by the Demon 6:00 PM Bus. When 6:00 PM came, a bus came to pick Rei up. I sensed something strange about this bus. As it rode away, a large hole opened up in a wall. That bus that Rei got on was, in fact, the Demon 6:00 PM Bus. The Gotokujis, Mane Six, Sailor Moon and I went right after it. Inside the hole, there was a strange man with long, straight, blonde hair. His name was Jadeite and he was the Far Eastern commander of the villainous organization that was committing the strange crimes around Animation Land, the Dark Kingdom. Sailor Mercury and Luna came just in time. I used Fire Blast on Jadeite, burning his skin, but covering his uniform with soot. Suddenly, I sensed another blast of fire. It was Rei, she was, in fact, the fiery-passioned second ally to Usagi, Sailor Mars. She used her exorcism technique to make Jadeite crumble into dust. I realized that the Dark Kingdom had a Big Four just like the Black Cross Army, but I felt that they would be much more difficult to eliminate than the Black Cross Army. According to Luna, Usagi needed two more allies in order to fulfill her destiny. I began wondering who the last two allies would be.
