I think this would happen when Capt. Leona docks the boat and Ruggie decides to go fishing. He catches a cute little mermaid on his hook and can’t help but think: Should he turn you in for some cash? Or keep you on the boat like an exotic pet.

Leona won’t care what he does as long as Ruggie still does his tasks like he’s asked. So, I hope you like sleeping in a tank on a rocking boat for a while. He didn’t have the heart to dump you on someone who only wants to dissect you. Besides, you’re pretty charming for someone who lives in the sea while he sails through it. Why hasn’t he seen someone as gorgeous as you before?! You need to surface more often… Well, too late for that now because he’s filling a tank with water to keep you in. It’s small and cramped and your tail fin hangs out of it, but Ruggie makes it livable until he steals gets you a new tank.

Ruggie takes good care of you.

He pours water on your scales, brings you all sorts of shiny things he found on land, he feeds you fresh fish and seaweed. You feel like a pet to him sometimes… But when he starts decorating you in rings, pins, bracelets and necklaces… That’s when it feels different. Now you feel like a living piece of treasure he owns. Which is a major upgrade from a pet!

He won’t ever be romantic towards you since the truth is: He’s holding you captive on a boat with Leona’s permission. And he doesn’t think you’re happy even if you say you are. One day he’ll ask you in the dead of night as he slowly pours water over your glittering scales. You can hardly see his face in the dim room, only lit up by an oil lamp.

“Do you want to go back to the ocean? Or do you want to stay here on Savanaclaw?”

The room is silent, except for the water dripping into your little tank as you admire the many more shiny trinkets he has given you this week.

He’s allowing you the choice to leave, or stay. He won’t be upset with you. Ruggie just wants you to be happy.

bc i’m bored at work (i’m a game master at an escape room), here’s how I think the bad kids would do at an escape room

Adine is so into it and excited. every time she finds something she goes “fuck yeah!” and oh boy does she find stuff.

Riz is also super into it but he’s not as good. both bc he’s just too short and bc he’s cursed by the dice gods. he’s so frustrated like. i’m literally a licensed detective what the fuck. he keeps reading all the filler text around the room. he has to climb on fabian’s shoulders to get more height

Fabian doesn’t get it. he was dragged along for found family bonding time. he’s like we solve mysteries all the time with actual life and death on the line. why are we doing this for fun. he keeps asking for hints way too early and looking into the camera like the office.

Fig is weirdly into it. she doesn’t solve or find a bunch of stuff but she hypes everyone up who does. she’s so in character. if they’re in a pirate escape room u better believe she’s sayin arrrrg and making puns. if they’re secret agents, she’s calling everyone agent. she’s having such a good time wether or not they actually get out.

Gorgug is also just here for a good time. he’s finding some things but he’s never confident enough to voice his theories bc he thinks they’re dumb (they’re not he’s 100% right every time way before everyone else and it’s driving the gm insane) he’s mostly playing along with fig in character and having a chill time

kristen is honestly just fucking around creating elaborate backstories for their characters. her guesses to solving the puzzles are straight up impossible and she keeps looking for things where nobody would hide anything. until she casually finds the final key out of nowhere like a fucking maniac

My main issue with FE:Fates was that it advertised that you could play the bad guy...then it doesn't let you play the badguy and instead makes you the stupidest hero ever. Like let me be evil, I picked the evil side! Don't say you can side with the Evil Empire and then not let me actually side with them! "Undermine them from the inside" by winning battles and the war for them? That's not how that works in any capacity! I shouldn't be actually striking down and smashing the rebellions, I should be helping them escape and giving false reports of victories or reporting that it was a bandit gang that got blown out of proportion by rumors or something! Not actually doing the thing the Evil Empire wants me to do if I'm not supposed to be actually evil! Pick a lane game! Either let me actually be evil and do evil things like I asked, or have me be secretly good so you can keep your hero centric narative, don't take this wishy-washy middle road of me doing evil things for the evil empire but then feel bad about it because I'm actually a good person but it's all for "the plan" which is just stupid and arrrrg!

This is a solid take but also I don't think "Fire Emblem Fates has lackluster writing" is an original opinion
