Illumina, Goddess of Conspiracies, Immoralities, Wisdom, Threats, Trickery and Death: [Slowly ages, currently 100 years old] Illumina started out as a kind priestess who healed the sick and lame, and saw the goodness in everyone. That was until she became ill with an incurable disease. After visiting numerous doctors, priests, healers, alchemists, desperately praying that some miracle would save her, yet none occurred. In one final attempt to save herself, she turned to Annih and begged, groveled and pledged undying loyalty towards him and his goal to destroy Dura. Annih, pleased and amused at the young woman's weak cries of mercy, changed her into a goddess, corrupting her in the process. Annih left the newborn deity to fester in the agonizing realization of her situation, insanity and shame eating away at the last bits of innocence from her mind. No longer was she serving the light of Dura, but the ever-consuming darkness of the God of Death's shadow. Illumina used to have tan skin, straight warm black hair, and brown eyes; now she is 12 feet tall (can alter her size to be tall as she wants), has jet black hair, greyish-pale skin, glowing green eyes hidden behind a black lace mask, dark burgundy lipstick, green face paint, jet black wings, and two grick-like worms on the back of her shoulder blades. She changed her white priestess gown and veil for a dark green-blue gradient tattered dress that drags behind her. She walks barefoot, and wears various adornments, such as her old prayer beads as arm and ankle bracelets, a jeweled belt, and thick, rusty prison cuffs. Her powers consists of: a fireball attack that gets bigger with every level-up, an illusion spell that causes multiple copies of herself to appear (number of copies increase as she levels up), a floating green orb that absorbs the health of all enemies and heals her by 15%, and an ultimatum ability where Illumina casts a curse that has a 50/50 chance of either causing the most powerful enemy to instantly die or 100% heals all allies and adds attack/defensive buffs (she doesn't like to play fair). Her basic/melee attacks are using her gricks to bite or fling around opponents.

She proclaims herself as the ruler of all Graveborn characters, and although she may be bossy and has no tolerance for being criticized by her "minions", Illumina does sympathize with most of them and often lends a shoulder to cry on. Outside of her job of helping Annih, Illumina likes to create and experiment with spells and incantations, enjoys reading a good book series in her Library of Knowledge, eating desserts (dark chocolate is her favorite), and create conspiracy theories and prank on mortals. She does have a few crushes on some of the Graveborns, and with some exceptions, the hero characters as well. Despite her hating Annih in the beginning for causing her to suffer while she transformed into her godlike state, Illumina is starting to gain feelings for him due to his strange kindness and sympathy towards her; but, after meeting Thoewyn and Kalene, she decided to stop pursuing Annih for a while, and have those two lovely women as companions. [?]

New au idea!!!

The God's Return Au

Where Dura and Annih themselves return from their long vacation, we'll mostly Dura as Annih been busy with paperwork or whatever hes been up to. Everyone is frickin panicking, especially the celestials and hypogeans. The celestials thought their goddess died by the hands of her brother, but it turned out she's been relaxing at a different dimension where no one would disturb her. It's not like Annih could kill his sister, Esperia world would be unbalanced without the goddess of life. The old tales that said Annih was jealous of Dura being the favorite. He just didn't understand why his sister found the mortals so interesting.

That is when Dura suggests a deal, creating a stable hypogean for a certain celestial.

Apparently, Dura and Annih had a deal where if a celestial and a hypogean could possibly become a lovely couple, Dura had to return back to Esperia, fix the mess she left behind, and give Annih 100 gold coins. How would the two gods remember them is the artifact "ring" they give to them. Bonus if another pair of different factions count another 100 gold coins.

In return, Annih would have to erase the hypogeans. Most of them who were created from his blood. For the rest, he would need someone who can manage to track them down quicker. It's kind of like in Naruto, where Itachi had to kill everyone in his clan because of being too OP and leaving his brother Sasuke alive.

So when Annih captured the full blood hypogeans and extra other hypogeans, Eugene and Lucilla were caught by accident. As much as he wanted him and Lucilla to escape together, he let Lucilla escape as they were almost caught.

It's interesting how much TV tropes blames Dura for Annih's downfall, and how it tries to make Annih more...sympathetic? Especially since, you know, Dura died because of Annih.

Incredible things I’ve learnt from the AFK Arena artbook lore

I’m still going through it so expect there to be more updates as I go, I just need to share this or I’ll implode! Spoilers(?) ahead!

There’s a multiverse

Dura and Annih, while being the two most powerful Esperian deities, are still but little wee children in the cosmic grand scheme of things. Dura is the favorite child.

The weird space tentacle lovecraftian monster’s name is Uemiss and he created the one and only utopia in Esperian history, before the gods got jealous of his popularity and murdered almost everyone.

Dura has a tendency to yeet artifacts that hold the fate of the entire multiverse at every problem she encounters even though she was specifically tasked with keeping said artifacts hidden.

Khazard went through a LOT of shit.

Zaphrael became a god after saving another god’s life. This man. This MORTAL man. Saved a god. Let that sink in.

Literally all the gods except Dura supported Annih’s decision to introduce humans to alchemy, and none of them ever owned up to that shit.

Dura first took decades to do anything about the Ya torture but then also took a full century before giving the Wilders a place to live, leaving them wandering the desert wasteland after taking them out of the oasis she gave Maulers.

Dwarves are actually pretty cool and decided not to fuck with humans a long time ago.

Quaedam was kind of an idiot in life.

The inquisition of the Lightbearer Temple literally only came to be because the temple was afraid it was losing power.

Thoran is between 750 and 800 years old, Grezhul is about 10 to 30 years younger.

Niru and Shemira are around 530 years old. Hodgkin is around this age as well.

Oden is between 200 and 250 years old.

Seirus is between 85 and 90 years old.

Sonja and Nara are between 40 and 50 years old.

Isabella is chronologically around the same age as Fawkes and Raine.

Oh, I really like this. The Wilders are supposed to be peaceful Ya*. It's the Maulers who are supposed the ones who are antagonistic towards Lightbearers.

However, AFK Arena has been out for years and has lately been subverting its own basic lore. If you read Oku's and Eorin's lore, you'll see that their animosity towards Lightbearers is justifiable.

* Ya are the chimeric beings (often just barely animal-like) in Esperia. They have Orc-ish origins in that mortal mages tried their own hand at divine creation, but they could not create, only modify. This was long before the war between Dura and Annih.

At some point, they were forced out of the empire and exiled into the desert. Here, they developed a society dependent on war to ensure their own survival. But a significant number of them longed for a more peaceful life and fled into the Dark Forest.

Honestly, the closest accurate if Lilith finally adds the two gods in the game

Small headcanon: Dura and Annih create the celestial twins as they weren't first created to start off as kids to adults. As well for them handle Annih's work when he "left".

Next is his outfit, which is giving a Maleficent vibe. The second one is his celestial outfit:

A close-up of him. Giving him braids. You may also find that I drew little fireballs, references from his loading screen background, or from the wiki website if you don't know what I mean. Coming up with his clothing design, I have a feeling he would wear something that covers his neck to feet.

Yeah, you might think he would show more of his skin and consider he's the creator of the Hypogeans. Nah! Boy would wear a black hoodie in the middle of a hot summer.

You may also find that I drew little fireballs, references from his loading screen background, or from the wiki website if you don't know what I mean.

One is chaotic gremlin, and the other is more chill. A dark red mix magenta makes the mortals give into becoming Hypogeans, which explains for those like Lucretia and Lavatune who were once humans. The chill one is the creator of the Graveborns and thus report to Annih on their activities. The reason why Annih is not guiding the souls to the afterlife was to play his villain role until Dura's vacation is over.

But hey, that's just fan theory

Anyway, it's Dura's turn:

Young and sweet 👍🏼 while he's more mature and serious. I had fun drawing her long, wavy hair. Surprisingly, this is the only drawing I have for her while I drew her brother more.

Oh yeah! Speaking of that. I intend to make these two as siblings instead of having typical Hades x Persephone stereo type because it's just makes the Hades character more misunderstood. Looking back at @tatarella afk Arena post, it seems dev lilith's made him that way; jealous of Dura's favoritism, hated his job, and want destruction to Esperia.

Me: Alright, I'ma do it in my own way.

HC #1: Annih was not given attention from his creator, Honas, Primordial God of Order and Creation. This makes him question his eternal life crisis, thus telling Dura that he wanted to just disappear as he thinks he doesn't have much potential like her. She tells him that he's important to this world and that they were meant to be a pair of siblings who look after each other as they were made that way. Even though one is busy with their God duties, they give him a gift, which is a library filled with every Esperian mortal life recorded in a book. He never likes the humans as much as his sister and prefers a quiet environment.

HC #2: Him being a cold brother but secretly cares and worries for his sister. Back then, she was too nice, and he fears that someone could try to take her naiveness to their greedy intentions. He made sure to warn her multiple times to never be fooled by the humans. That one Hazbin Hotel reference: "You don't take shit from any demons!"

HC #3: When Dura and Annih were fighting during the war to make everyone believe their acting, he didn't want to hurt the only closet family he had besides Honas who they haven't seen him ever since from the beginning. He had a theory that if something were to happen between the siblings, Honas would come to deal with them, but somehow, they did not after that war.

HC #4: Goodbye, young Dura, now she's gone through character development. The reason why I headcanon that she stay at the Dislyte universe was that the game was also created by Lilith developers. There, she learned the fashion style, technology, trends, and some of the people, though she was only here for a vacation.

HC #5: With every mortal life recorded in the book, it also recorded the gods like Dura and Annih themselves. Though, he decided not to read his or hers because he respects privacy. One time, he found what seemed to be two large, thick books with strange cover. He then realized this was Honas and Lutos' life book still recording, but he never read it as he never wanted to remember Honas. As for Lutos, he knew they're more dangerous and that Honas was guarding the prison throughout eons. Annih never told Dura as she wonders if Honas would ever come to visit as she see them as a father figure. Yeah, I'm giving Annih Daddy issues.

HC# 6: Okay, this is the last one. Honas and Lutos, I headcanon that they are genderless, though Honas takes the form of a masculine figure, and Lutos takes the form of a feminine figure. Maybe even starting off as enemies to lovers as I have been writing about quite a lot 😅

Annih: ...So you started a cult?

Dura: What!? No! I'm just showing you what I created. I called it the Celestial!

Annih: Hm... what are you up to?

Dura: I have a suggestion!

Annih:...*sigh* What suggestion?

Dura: I want them to make their own decisions instead of order them around for my sake

Annih: Is that why you'll be leaving in the future?

Dura: Yes...

Annih: Just remember, you need to come back some day to fix your own mess. To make things more interesting, how about a bet?

Dura: A bet?

Annih: If a celestial and a hypogean become more than just friends, you'll have to come back. Plus 100 gold

Dura: Okay, I promise

Small headcanons

Not only did Gavus and Eugene end up together, as well as Baden and Thane. A celestial and hypogean, a lightbearer and graveborn. So that means Dura owes Annih 200 gold once she comes back

Eugene perhaps was created to be more decent with just a small portion of Annih's blood so that he can get along with his celestial soulmate

I believe that Dura got tired of how she had to fix everyone's problem. Which is why she created the celestials to look after Esperia, but even some of them still didn't understand Dura's word

If Lilith plans to finish the lore, Dura and Annih finally become playable (maybe like awaken heores) possible even get new designs 🤔 since it's been a long time

Dura could be the eldest, while Annih is the youngest. Or maybe born the same time.

If the Esperia people think Annih is terrible they say, then there almost right, only Annih knows how Dura can be scary if she wants to. Not even the celestials know

In all honesty, Annih isn't bothered all the trash talk. He's just doing his job as the God of Dead

AFK Arena Headcanon's Pt. 3

Featuring: Dura, Annih, and other characters

When the two primary God's were getting used with their perspective roles, with their powers combining, they created the Underworld as their home.

The first floor's are where plants and herbs grew and rivers that lead down to the deepest floors. The middle floor's, have ancient beast that guarded the lower floors of the Underworld that Annih personally created crystals. Lastly, the deepest floors, where lies Annih's work office, library, and another office, another office, and another office. Eventually, Dura created a room for him to rest.

As the years go by, Dura fully understood Annih's opinion on the humans that they can be. It gets worse when half of her celestials weren't doing their tasks as the next generation of gods she given them, just lazing around. That is when she decided on a plan she discuss with Annih, was to create a faction, soon known to be the Hypogeans. Although, he was agains't the idea of the new faction because it'll bring chaos to the Esperia world.

"That's the point, brother. With the hypogeans, the rest of the factions would soon get along by taking them down together. As for their weakness, the celestials can have the advantage but still weak against them."

"This would soon bring more work for me. Are you sure this would work? The old bets we did never came to what we expected."

"I'm sure this would work, Annih."

One of their old bets was to get a celestial and a hypogean together, starting off with Zaphrael and Lucretia.....yeah it did not work out well, and Annih had high hopes for Lucretia.

If plan A didn't work out, plan B it is. This time, they won't interfere their lives as they go on a vacation and let fate play it out.

Where Dura was this whole time was in a different unniverse where it's similar to Esperia, but more modern called Dislyte

As for Annih, he had to keep an eye out for everyone in Esperia. Especially the people who accidentally teleported from another dimension. So it wasn't a nice vacation for him as he tried to keep his presence quiet.

He organizes the books by faction; Lightbearer's bookshelf, Mauler's bookshelf, Wilder's bookshelf, Graveborn's bookshelf, Dimensional's bookshelf (and soon a bookshelf for the Draconis)

There is one bookshelf that is kept in the cornor label with a red question mark, which questioned the God of Death of the humans

"God damn . . . why?"

Back to Eugavus/Gagene family, the dad's wanted to spend with their kids as much as possible from that 10 years of separation. Especially when Liberta and Lucilla are still considered "humans" and not a celestial/hypogean as they only inherited the magic.

Their new house, I got the idea of the house to be like Howl's moving castle, but then it's going to give away their location. So, with the idea of Eugene's trickster cube to be the door to their new house. If they want to get away, Eugene got the "keys" ready.

The dads are obviously friends with Thane and Baden as Estrilda, being the twin's older cousin. But that is when there is no one in the House of Rayne as it'll freak them out of having celestials and hypogeans together

The four dads would talk about their kids when they were children. Even sharing the embarrassment moments.

"One time, Estrilda and Baden were practicing swordsmenship and she accidentally hit him at his lower area."

"Oouuch! That must have hurt."

"Well, that couldn't be worse as our old cottage almost burned down."

"Wait, what?!"

With Estrilda, she teaches them how to horse ride as Lucilla grow fond of horses.

The reason why Eugene started spacing out in the previous chapter was that he felt his - no - Annih's blood flowing slowly, which makes Eugene stop functioning.

For Lucilla, she felt that her hypogean magic slowly going away.

There were times that Annih had high expectations but led to disappointment. Lucretia? Made mothers to widows by killing their children to feel her same pain. Women! You're not making any better, but by making it far worse. The only thing she did right was divorcing her husband, that was it.

There are other hypogeans that Annih could have wished to not killed, like Vyloris, who was once a celestial but got captured by the hypogeans who kept torturing her physically and mentally. He felt bad for her to realize she was never found by her kin, so he gave her a choice to either be free but never set foot on the mortal world or get her revenge back.

Luckily, there are only three hypogeans (well-known) that are spared from the extermination :)
