Synopsis
In the space of a blink, Prime Minister Lizel finds himself not in his office, but on a random street in an unfamiliar city. A look around quickly tells him that he is somewhere very far from home, and he’s going to need some assistance. Luckily, he runs into Gil, or “One Slash”, the strongest solo B-rank adventurer in the country, and they form a partnership that will last far longer than their initial one month contract. Gil guides Lizel on how to become an adventurer so that he can gain an ID and make a living in this new world while he waits for the people back home to find a way to get him back. Since there’s nothing Lizel himself can do, he decides to simply consider this a vacation and enjoy himself!

I'm loving this manga series! I mean, it's very RPG - labyrinth, monsters, treasure, lather, rinse, repeat - but the characters! I adore Lizel and his "Gil, look, a book! Please, get me the book! 😇" And Gil grumbles and whatnot but in the end, he always caves in and off he goes and does yet another completely nutty thing just so Lizel can have his gosh darn book and can be all 🤩

does anyone know any books or webcomics that have both a level-up system similar to orv and lgbtq+ characters without a romance being the main plot? Because it must exist right? But the closest I can find to it is Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation but that series is kinda just chill and relaxed and I want action and plot twists. Not that it’s a bad series, it’s good, it just doesn’t fit the bill for the kind of books I want right now.

July Monthly Recap:
So I forgot to do my July version of this, so here it is, and my August one will follow shortly! A Gentle Noble's Explosive Merch Announcement!
TO Books dropped an insane amount of info the other day! Alongside announcing the release date for the next manga, the light novel will also be resuming publication, AND we're getting new merch!
And we even got images!! Light novel 18 will feature Lizel, Eleven, and a couple of Eleven's core elites. Manga volume 10 is the first time Lizel has been all alone on a coverーthough surrounded by his beloved books. Both also come with bonus, newly written short stories.
Drama CD 5 comes with a brand new script and for the first time we'll hear the voice of Count Shadow as voiced by Yasumoto Hiroki! This also comes with a bonus newly written short story.
And finally, new merch!! A little keychain bear dressed up as Lizel, including his earrings! It's designed to call back to the teddy bears Lizel has pulled out of the labyrinth and gifted to Viscount Ray.
A new mug was made with the concept of a commemorative gift passed out at His Majesty's coronation. On one side we have the japanglish title and on the other it finally shows us the coat of arms for Lizel's country. A silver shield in the center features a radiant moon. On either side are a gold dragon and a silver eagle, and on top sits a gold and blue crown with a star on top. The mug also comes with a comic drawn by Momochi-sensei!
And finally: coffee! Misaki-sensei named them after characters and what time of day they best suit.
6:30am, Stud, a drink before work
9am, the gossiping landlady taking a break
12:30pm, His Majesty taking a tea break in town
3pm, Lizel and his adventuring party enjoying themselves after returning from a labyrinth
10pm, Nahas relaxing before the night shift

silver under nightfall, rhythm of war, book lovers, invisible cities, o human star. hard to pick!! i read a lot this year and i have a LOT of favorites but i think these are the standouts. and also book lovers made me cry

i have a couple books checked out on libby that i want to finish but i am STRUGGLING to get into any of them tbh. actually nevermind its the gentle noble's vacation recommendation (< guy who just remembered that vol 7 is on hoopla nyeow)

either in the lives of puppets or the archive undying. in the lives of puppets REALLY really hit, and the archive undying was not as well put-together as i had hoped but i enjoyed parsing out the concepts going on & also the perspective shifts + stylistic choices were inspiring and delightful

Warpe: An Oasis of History and Tranquility Away from the Bustle
Marcus hadn't experienced such a delightful vacation in a long time as he did in Warpe. The small municipality, nestled in the gentle hills and valleys of the Samtgemeinde Grafschaft Hoya in the district of Nienburg/Weser, Lower Saxony, was idyllic in every sense. Watercourses flowed throughout the area, including the picturesque Bückener Mühlenbach, which meandered through the village, passing its abandoned, decaying, and restored watermills.
Despite being off the beaten tourist path, Warpe occasionally witnessed exciting events that quickly became known throughout the village. Marcus had the fortune of meeting Horst, a former village schoolteacher who had discovered his passion for music. Horst provided Marcus with numerous recommendations for meeting people in Warpe and exploring its attractions.
Warpe's history extended far back in time. From 1259 to 1555, the von Warpe noble family had their ancestral seat here. Even the Counts of Hoya owned estates in this small village. The rich history was reflected in the local buildings. A school had operated in Warpe until 1963, nurturing generations of children.
The entire village could be traversed by bicycle in just about 15 minutes. The proud emblem of Warpe showcased a silver watermill wheel on a blue background, surrounded by golden ears of wheat and crossed gable boards ending in outward-facing horse heads.
During his stay in Warpe, Marcus discovered that the village was primarily shaped by agriculture, although tourism played a significant role as well. He fondly recalled the popular private Hoffestivals, attended by approximately 300 guests, which transformed rural life into a celebration of music and joy, with nearly half the village participating.
Marcus also explored the various local associations in Warpe, such as the Ernteclub Warpe, the voluntary fire brigade, the Nordholz-Helzendorf singing association, the TSV Nordholz sports club, the Nordholz-Helzendorf shooting club, the Warpe shooting club, the Windhorst shooting club, and the Wundertüte e.V. kindergarten, nurturing the creative potential of young residents.
Warpe was also home to several local businesses, including the Mittelweser Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG and the Hofkäserei Derboven GmbH & Co. KG, which played a significant role in the local economy.
Despite being a predominantly rural community, Warpe boasted good connectivity. The Bundesstraße 6 was a mere 5 km away, and on school days, there was a bus connection via the local bus line 26 operated by the Verkehrsgesellschaft Landkreis Nienburg, serving Bücken and Hoya.
During his time in Warpe, Marcus also had the pleasure of meeting notable personalities, such as the painter and sculptor Pablo Hirndorf (*1963), who carried forward the village's creative heritage through his artistic works.
As Marcus reflected on his time in Warpe, he was captivated by the serenity and beauty of this community. The warm reception from the locals, the vibrant history, and the picturesque landscape made Warpe a special place that Marcus would undoubtedly cherish in his memories.
