Apple TV+
Irish Film, TV Nominations 2023: ‘The Banshees of Inisherin,’ ‘Bad Sisters’ Lead With Most Nods
“The Banshees of Inisherin,” starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, led the nominations for the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) as the full list of nominees was unveiled on Monday night local time, picking up 11 nods in the film category.
“Bad Sisters” – Sharon Horgan’s Apple TV+ mystery series – led the pack in the drama category with 12 noms.
Coming off the back of a stellar year for Irish film and television, the nominations include a number of familiar names and titles, including Paul Mescal, who has been nominated for best lead actor in a film for “Aftersun” and best supporting actor in a film for “God’s Creatures” while Farrell is also competing in both categories, both for his star turn in “Banshees” and his supporting role as Penguin in “The Batman.”
“Conversations with Friends” has also scored noms in multiple categories while Aoife McArdle is up for best drama director for Apple TV+ series “Severance.” Sinead O’Connor doc “Nothing Compares” is up for best feature documentary.
The IFTAs are set to take place at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre on May 7. They will be broadcast on local network RTÉ.

THE PROMISE (2023, THAILAND)
Special Workshop Episode
Available on DEVONTE296 OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL
The story of Phupha (KITTIKUN TANSUHAS aka KUN) and Nanfah (WATTIKORN PERMSUBHIRUN aka KIAK) began with two short mini series in AUGUST 2022 (PHUPHA) and NOVEMBER 2022 (NANFAH)
I adored both mini series immensely so after the 2nd mini (NANFAH) a series was announced to tell their entire story.
The mini series were directed by SITTICHAI CHUTSIRI aka CHOI and he's known to be a director of commercials but he also directed short BL 21 DAYS THEORY for Rookie Thailand.
After several false starts for the series to premiere it finally did on WeTV on March 1, 2023 with a re airing on the DEVONTE296 OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
The Series had so many changes from the mini series it sadly was a bit of let down...just a bit because I was rooting for Phu and Nan. The Series also had a different director than the mini series KONGKIAT KHOMSIRI aka KHOM.
Khom is a screenwriter and director of a slew of series and movies. Most notably to BL fans, he directed KINNPORSCHE.
The screenwriter of The Promise was THANYATHORN SIWANUKROH aka FUNT or FUNTLAND. I'm not certain but I don't think she wrote the mini series. No writers were credited for PHUPHA | NANFAH that I'm aware of. And on FUNT'S MDL page she isn't credited for either mini series. Though she has an impressive list of screenwriter credits.
Now the gifs I made are from what is referred to as a special workshop episode and is under 7 minutes
Nan and Phu are a happy couple and Nan asks Phu when he knew he was in love with him. Phu answers but ask Nan if he recalls the kiss they shared the night before their graduation (Nan was drunk...this was in the series but not the minis) Nan says he has no recollection because while inebriated his memory is wiped clean.
There was a special episode called PROMISE: THE HONEYMOON which required payment which I did not do since I was disappointed with the series.
A season 2 is planned but no release date.

Living His Word

You hem me in behind and before,    and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,    too lofty for me to attain. — Psalm 139:5-6
What does it mean to be hemmed in? It means to be surrounded and shut in by something. It is to be enclosed or confined by something so that one cannot move as long as that something is in place. David is saying that God hemmed him in behind and before so that he cannot go backward or forward.
On the one hand, then, he cannot go back. He cannot go back to where he once was even if he tried. The Lord is preventing that from happening. The idea here should not be understood in a negative way. God has providential concern for David and He is preventing him from deviating from His plan. David might otherwise be tempted to leave the place he is at and go back to where he once was.
On the other hand, he cannot go forward. He cannot go forward to some new place even if he tried. The Lord is also preventing that from happening. God's plan does not include him moving forward at this time and if He did not prevent that from happening David might be tempted to leave the place he is at and move forward.
God's hand is upon David. This does not mean that David is "under God's thumb." It means that God is guiding David, holding him in place so that he doesn't make the mistake of moving backward or forward at the wrong time and to the wrong place.
The why and the wherefore of God's guidance is beyond human comprehension. True, at times God gives us glimpses of what He is up to, but at bottom such knowledge is "too wonderful" and "too lofty" for us. God's ways are not our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Our job is not to question God's guidance, but to trust Him that He has our best interests at heart.
You may feel a little unsettled where you are today. You may be wondering if you should do something about it. Yet you do not sense the hand of God moving you forward or backward. Trust God. At the right time, He will move you where He wants you to be, and you will be at peace about it for having waited on Him.

Jamie is astonished to see Tom Christie in his kitchen. Tom is a stranger to Claire, but she reads the myriad emotions playing on Jamie’s face... and an underlying unease. Tom looks equally uneasy, but smiles politely -- Jamie and Claire trade surprised glances. Roger is a bit sheepish as he explains to his in-laws -- A nervous Roger awaits Jamie’s reaction. Jamie forces a smile and pats Roger on the back. He’s not angry, but both Roger and Claire see that something is bothering him.
