*Rises from the Grave*
It's Young Royals S2 First Look Pictures analysis time, cherubs.
THE ROWING MACHINE PICTURE:
Tumblr media
Firstly, I wasn't expecting a picture like this even in my distant hypothetical S2 Sneak Peak releases, I don't think anyone was really, but it's really interesting. I've seen on Twitter and Instagram that Netflix have used the word "Revenge" a lot, and I think that this picture could tell us why - Even though Wille, Simon and the other 3 Hillerska lads are centre frame, they're pitted against a mirror, and if you look to the far right (right circle), there's another character wearing red, and in the distance (far-left circle), it looks there are spectators.
Maybe what could be happening is a small sub-plot of Wille potentially becoming a second rowing captain of an opposite team (Hence the two differing rowing gear colours of Green vs Red) as means of trying to exert "revenge" on August, bc if the Monarchy won't help him, and August goes without repercussions, then Wille is on his own, and so, he could (maybe) target the one thing he knows is significant to August; His authoritative position as Rowing Captain. Here, Wille presents a challenge that through the eye just appears as a civil opposition shrouded in sportsmanship, but indirectly, it serves as a subtle step, taken by Wille, to oppose August's social position. (I would go into catering towards typically masculine forms of competition and how gender convention could play into the classic trope of a Revenge arc, but I'll save that for another time.)
Also just a quick add on - New character on the far left? Hmmm...
THE CLASSROOM PIC:
Tumblr media
Ofc the class is reading, all with their heads down, and Wille is just looking at Simon, because he is what? Whipped! And ofc I'm going to talk about colour in this picture because I am what? Sad!
For me, here, the presence of colour theory relies on the contrast between Pastels v Darkness (or really, De saturated v Saturated). Despite purple being a consistent motif for Simon's costume through S1, and even if we assume that, through the passage of time, Simon has now integrated into Hillerska society, he is still aesthetically differentiated from his peers through his clothing - Most of the characters surrounding him are wearing pastel colours (i.e purples, pinks and yellows) and yet he has a dark green shirt over a deep purple. So, maybe this just further entrenches Simon's struggle in regards to finally cementing himself in the elitist environment, especially after the leak.
But also, something else should be noticed - Wille wearing pastel purple. In the previous season, Wille's costume was mainly comprised of deep reds/burgundies, blues or destaurated greys, and yet here, he visually looks different (not just the hair btw). Not only does he still parallel his peers, solidifying his connection to the Hillerska society, but now he also parallels Simon, mimicking the colours he wore throughout S1, so maybe this is a subtle visual hint at Wille attempting to reconcile with Simon.
Bonus: They're sat next to eachother :') I can't remember if we ever saw Wille and Simon physically sat directly next to eachother in class before!
THE ROYAL DINNER PIC:
Tumblr media
Now here is some juicy cinematography.
Here, the camera lens is bracketed by the presence of the doors, and so the lens itself is personified and, despite not being invasive on the family dinner, the overall placement of the camera as situated within the doorway serves as an insight into Wille's Christmas (likely indicated from the fact that it's snowing etc). As always, I could be wrong, because the time-skip could be from the end of S1, skipping past Christmas and onto the new School year, but I think it would be interesting to see what Wille's Christmas would be like.
Not just this, but given their differing expressions, the cinematography further relates to Wille's entrapment - The audience are passive, we're not allowed to enter the room and so our empathy rests within an observational position. Wilhelm clearly looks out of place and dejected, whilst The Queen and his Father look content.
But also, notice how there are only three chairs? And whose facing/in the position of the missing chair? The camera is. Already, Wilhelm has adopted the new Crown Prince persona, and so the absence of Erik is elevated bc not only does the dinner exist at a partial distance, but there is no remnant of Erik anywhere, not even an empty chair, or a picture of him.
Not at all making me upset on how out of place and unsupoprted Wille feels by his own family but hEY HO ANYWAY-
FELICE AND WILLE PIC:
Tumblr media
I. Love. Silhouettes. And. Light.
The prospect of Felice being a more prominent character in the narrative, let alone in Wille's story, is slskls so exciting - Especially the thought of elite Felice x Wille friendship duo.
I'm guessing that there has been a change of Wille's room/Wille now sleeps in the other bed because S1 his bed was always in the right hand-side of the room, but this is cool ! Especially if you consider it along the idiom of "growing too big for your bed" and Wille's newly given title/ position in the Monarchy. I mean, even if you look at the visuals, everything appears to be minimalist and stripped of any indicative personality; The red LED lights are no longer here, we can't see the Frog snowglobe, or a bedside table, all we're given is a shelf with some (what look like) deodorant cans and a simple light. It's as if in order to become more like a Crown Prince, Wille had to, little by little, become less like Wille.
But I have hope! If you look at where the light is placed there are a few things that could be said: 1.) Felice is deliberately placed closer to it in an attempt to illustrate her significance. Perhaps here she is consoling, offering comfort to Wille, and so she becomes this 'beacon' of wisdom (tbf I would trust Felice with my life soooo...), 2.) It highlights the void of the space, and further broadens on the sense of "absence" as a dip in the covers is visible, perhaps mirroring Wille's dialogue if its about Simon, or about how lonely he was over the Christmas break, 3.) Their silhouettes. The presence of their shadows was not necessarily needed in this scene, but it was included, and maybe I've been too deprived of content and I'm reaching here, but it's the externalisation of their beings, and could serve as foreshadowing for their blossoming friendship. So, maybe Felice and Wille try to help eachother this season, which would be lovely !
This is pretty much just me begging for Wille and Felice to form the #BestiesAgainstAugust duo for nothing else than my own fulfilment.
These aren't all of the photos, but these are the ones that I initially had the most to say about. I'll likely talk about the others soon, though ! Let me know what you think ! <3

Note
Maybe this will be a stupid question, sorry if you have answered this in the past, but, are the Private Secretaries also responsible for the management of the Royal foundation!? The Centre of Early Childhood and Earthshot, respectively?
Because for example, you are mentioning that in your opinion a good PS is someone who has knowledge on their areas of interest, but isn’t that the reason that they also had CEO’s in the foundations and charities?
I’m also a bit surprised of this PS (if he is hired) because is the complete opposite from the woman she was considering at the beginning of the year. Maybe she decided to go with a more traditional way since maybe the CEO will be someone not too conventional.
The second paragraph of your ask answered the questions of the first one haha. No, they don't run the foundation and the centre.
Now regarding what you say in your second paragraph, not exactly and not exactly what I was referring to. As far as I know and understand, Private secretaries are the link between the rest of the world and the Royals, they are the first ones to meet or answer invitations from charities, foundations etc., and they are the ones who present their principal with invitations, causes, campaigns and above all new ideas that the royal can focus on. In addition to other things. They are the ones who will often structure the ideas of their principals in order to make them a reality and this is where the foundation or the centre comes in. That is why they are part of the Royal Foundation as directors.

The government's controversial Legacy Bill has passed after a vote in Westminster, despite widespread opposition in Northern Ireland.
A bid by the House of Lords to amend the bill was voted down by 288 to 205.
The bill ends new Troubles-era cases and inquests and offers conditional amnesty to those accused of killings.
The Irish government is considering legal action against the UK over the bill which the Democratic Unionist Party said was "abhorrent".
The bill will return to the Lords next week before going for royal assent.
It has been widely opposed by victims groups and all of Northern Ireland's political parties.
The government has said the legislation, which applies to all former members of the security forces and ex-paramilitaries, is an attempt to draw a line under the events of the past.
Prosecutions that are currently ongoing will continue to conclusion.
Veterans groups - such as the Northern Ireland Veterans Movement - widely support the bill.
However, some other military veterans have criticised it.
On Tuesday, the Lords backed an amendment to give victims' families a greater say in granting immunity from prosecution to offenders.
But the Conservative majority in the House of Commons rejected that on Wednesday, clearing the path for the legislation to be sent for royal assent.
Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris told the House of Commons it was incumbent on the government to find a process that "can deliver positive outcomes for as many of those directly affected by the Troubles as possible".
"We must be honest about what we can realistically deliver for people in circumstances where the prospects of achieving justice in the traditional sense are so vanishingly small," he added.
What has the reaction been?
Taoiseach (Irish prime minster) Leo Varadkar said it was "the wrong way to go about dealing with legacy issues in Northern Ireland".
"There aren't many things that all of the five main parties in Northern Ireland agree on but they all agreed this is wrong, and this is not victim-centred and not human-rights proofed," Mr Varadkar told reporters in County Wicklow.
He said the Irish attorney general is preparing advice on whether the case could be taken to the European Court of Human Rights, "essentially saying that this bill, this act is not compliant with the European Convention on Human Rights, of which United Kingdom is a signatory".
'Exceptionally cruel'
DUP assembly member Emma Little-Pengelly said the "abhorrent" passage of the bill represents a "dark day for innocent victims of the Troubles".
Ms Little-Pengelly said the bill "plays into the hands of those who want to airbrush the past".
SDLP leader Colum Eastwood said he was "angry and ashamed" at the outcome of the vote and called on the Irish government to intervene.
"The British Government doesn't care about the rights of victims but the international human rights standards that we all enjoy must be defended," he said.
Speaking before the debate, Sinn Féin MP John Finucane described the bill as devastating for families, adding it would unilaterally close the door on them getting truth and justice.
Mr Finucane's father, solicitor Pat Finucane, was shot dead by loyalist gunmen at his home in Belfast in 1989.
"When we had the New Decade, New Approach political agreement, the British government made a promise, a commitment, in that agreement that they would legislate for Stormont House within 100 days," he said.
"One hundred days later, they made a very public and dramatic U-turn without any consultation.
"The British government have refused to listen and refused to act, and instead they plough ahead with a piece of legislation which is exceptionally cruel."
People Before Profit assembly member Gerry Carroll said communities "must rally in opposition" to the bill.
"Truth and justice are rights that have never truly been afforded to victims here," he said. "Campaigners have vowed not to give up in their pursuit of justice and will not stop opposing this rotten legislation."
How do victims' families feel?
Grainne Teggart, of Amnesty International UK, said it was a "dark day for justice" and that the law only absolves "those responsible for conflict-related abuses - and, shamefully, all under the guise of reconciliation".
Victims' rights campaigner Raymond McCord, whose son Raymond Jnr was murdered by loyalists in 1997, said the UK government had shown no compassion for victims.
"My next step is taking the government to court, [they] simply don't care about truth and justice," he said.
Kenny Donaldson, from victims' organisation South East Fermanagh Foundation (SEFF), said the government had "effectively relinquished their responsibilities in overseeing justice".
"It is regrettable that they were not willing to accept the very reasonable amendment which came from the House of Lords yesterday which would have ensured that victims and survivors could feel somewhat empowered."
'A terrible injustice'
The family of a man who was shot and killed by a soldier in Londonderry on 15 September 1971 earlier labelled the legacy bill "a disgrace".
William McGreanery was shot in the Bogside area of Derry by a member of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.
His nephew, Billy McGreanery, who was just 13 when his uncle was killed, said he feared the bill could rob many families of justice.
Their own family's case is currently with the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
"I think a terrible injustice has been done to every family in this country," Mr McGreanery told BBC Radio Foyle.
"On the worldwide stage it's a disgrace that they are treating people this way and if this was any other part of the UK, I don't think they would get away with this."
The topic of dealing with the past has been a contentious political issue for a long time in Northern Ireland.
More than 1,000 killings from the Troubles have never been solved.
It has been brought into the main news headlines in recent years as a soldier has been in court charged with murdering two people in 1972.
The man, known only as Soldier F, is accused of killing the men during what became known as Bloody Sunday, when the Army's Parachute Regiment opened fire on a civil rights march in Derry.

We have news to share - The Ministry of Justice has responded with a denial for Captain Kidd’s Royal Prerogative of Mercy application.
This does NOT mean we are done here! Mr./Ms. E Peck was kind enough to provide an outline when cases like this typically are approved:
“Use of Royal Prerogative powers are subject to the common law duties of fairness and reason and to support effective administration. There are a number of longstanding conventions that I consider when reviewing an application. These are:
it is impractical for the case to go to court, or all other judicial routes have been exhausted.
new evidence has come to light which demonstrates conclusively that either no offence was committed or that the defendant did not commit the offence.
taking into account all the circumstances in the grant of a full pardon, that the person was morally and technically innocent of the crime.”
With this in mind, the Pardon Captain Kidd movement can confidently state that new evidence HAS indeed come to light proving Captain Kidd did not commit piracy.
Additionally, E Peck was helpful in providing their thoughts on this movement and suggestions of other revenues we can take:
“I have considered whether to recommend to the Secretary of State that he exercise his powers under section 16 of the Criminal Appeal Act 1995 to refer your application on behalf of Captain Kidd for an exercise of the RPM to the CCRC. However, I have not found a compelling reason to make such a recommendation and I am mindful of the Commission’s finite resources which in my view are better utilised in considering current cases rather than a case which concluded 300 years ago and where there appears to be no public interest in the Commission devoting its limited resource investigating it at the expense of current cases.” “Until the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) has been approached and made a finding on Captain Kidd’s case, the full range of judicial routes cannot be held to have been exhausted. It is convention that no recommendation of RPM will be made whilst there remains a judicial route available.”
This tells us that RPM does not consider this movement worth their time and resources. However, with both the Criminal Cases Review Commission and the Secretary of State mentioned, we think gathering more general interest and precise delivery of the new evidence for Captain Kidd’s innocence is still a hopeful revenue. Additionally, the Law Centres Network was recommended as an outlet to us as well.
SO WHAT’S NEXT? The Pardon Captain Kidd movement has more letters to submit - to the Secretary of State and to members of the Law Centres Network. Follow us here for more updates on this!
HOW CAN YOU HELP? We are once again requesting anyone interested in showing their backing and interest in this movement to please submit their full names for letters to these revenues. You can do so by filling out our contact form on our site here.
We also take donations that help us pay for supplies for physical letters and postage on our GoFundMe.

Only a few months old at the time, shiny GO Transit F40PH 511 heads up a westbound 9-car train of new bilevels and an APCU on the tail end, passing by Spadina Avenue just west of Toronto's Union Station. GO 511 was part of a six-unit order of F40PH units built by GMD at their London ON plant in April-May 1978, a change from GO's previous orders of freight GP40-2W units. New F59PH deliveries a decade later would result in GO flipping the six orphan units to Amtrak in 1990. 511 would see another decade of service on Amtrak as their 411, and would go on to work AMT's commuter operations out of Montreal. It last saw service on the the Saratoga & North Creek Railway (via LTEX) with another ex-Amtrak F40. The bilevel cars trailing are also new, part of the first order built by Hawker Siddeley and in service for a little over a year since introduction in March 1977. Since the first bilevel order included no cab cars, another locomotive, APCU, or old Hawker Siddeley single-level cab car had to be used on the other end in the early years. This scene off Spadina Avenue is notable in that it's under transition: the old CN steam-era freight platforms, team tracks and yard trackage east of Bathurst Street yard are still present, but truncated for the new CN Tower's parking lot (note the yellow bridge crossing the rail corridor near TTR's John St. interlocking tower). In later years the RBC's new data center (325 Front St. W), the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and CN's L'Hotel would fill much of the vacant land along Front Street in the 80's. The usual downtown office towers of the day including the TD Centre, Royal Bank Plaza, CP Hotel's Royal York, and the CNCP Telecommunications Building (151 Front Street) are quite unobscured compared to today. Social Gaming in the Digital Sphere: Exploring the Interplay Between Social Media Platforms, Affordances, and User Engagement
Tumblr media
Social experiences are intricately linked to the platforms that host them, creating a dynamic and interconnected world as a result of social media and gaming coming together. This essay explores the complex relationship that exists between the affordances provided by these platforms and our social gaming experiences on social media. We will look at the example of Fortnite, a hugely famous online game that has become a cultural phenomenon and demonstrates the relationship between social media and social gaming, to demonstrate these dynamics.
Social gaming experiences are shaped by the distinct affordances offered by social media networks. Among these affordances, real-time communication, community building, and seamless sharing of material are the most notable. With the ability to interact, discuss, and share gaming experiences with a worldwide audience, social gaming platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch have become essential components of the ecosystem.
Epic Games' Fortnite is a prime example of the significant influence social media platforms have had on social gaming. Up to 100 people combat it out in the battle royale game Fortnite to be the final individual standing on a lively, constantly changing island (TapTap, n.d.). Its clever social feature integration and captivating gameplay are both key factors in its success.
Tumblr media
To improve the game experience, Fortnite makes use of social media networks' real-time communication features. Voice chat and text chat are the two main conversation modes available in Fortnite. Using their microphones, players can converse with each other via voice chat or text chat (Metha, 2023). The incorporation of sites like Twitch, where users can livestream their gaming and promote real-time community involvement, was the true social revolution, though. This enables viewers to communicate, provide advice, and create communities centred around their favourite streamers in addition to giving participants a platform to display their skills.

Within the game industry, social media platforms help communities come together. A wealth of other Fortnite fans can be found in subreddits and forums, where they are always looking for their next companion. They converse about favourite gameplay modes, game developments, and (Post, 2023). Players on various devices can collaborate thanks to the game's cross-platform features, which go beyond conventional gaming borders. You can find friends on social media in addition to sharing memes (Post, 2023). According to this article (Amg, 2023), players cooperate, share works, and take part in creative challenges. Moreover, the rise of content created by users among Fortnite fans, such as memes, fan art, and videos, strengthens their sense of community and common identity.
Tumblr media
Another important factor in the profitability of social gaming is social media networks. In-game cosmetic item purchases are available in Fortnite, much like in a lot of other online games (Epic Games Technical Support & Customer Service | Epic Games, n.d.). A mutually beneficial partnership is created when social media influencers and broadcasters work with game creators on promotions, giveaways, and exclusive content (The Enterprise World, 2023). This model demonstrates how social media networks, by giving developers, influencers, and the player community a direct channel of communication, enhance the economic aspects of social gaming.
The combination of social networking and social gaming has many advantages, but there are drawbacks as well, including moral dilemmas. Concerns including the possibility of addiction, toxicity in gaming communities, and cyberbullying are issues that need to be addressed. It is imperative that platform developers and providers take action to tackle these issues and establish a more secure and welcoming gaming environment.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, the affordances provided by these platforms are closely linked to our social experiences in social media gaming. The social gaming ecosystem's integration of seamless sharing of content, real-time communication, community building, and monetization is exemplified by the Fortnite case study. Developers and players alike must comprehend and navigate the intricacies of this interconnected ecosystem as the lines between social media and gaming continue to blur. Future developments in digital entertainment and community involvement will surely be influenced by the changing dynamic between social media platforms and social gaming.
