Wether or not you deem the stories of Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey intersting, the copyright issues behind the books are a real legal turn on.

Originally 50 Shades of Grey was a Twilight fanfiction. And as a lot of people on here already know: Creating a fanfiction is generally speaking a violation of the copyright of the original.

The reason why 50SoG could be published anyways is because in its story you can‘t recognise the original anymore. In this case the fanfiction is considered “free usage” and therefor legal.

And, since I heard that 50SoG also has a plot and not only sex scenes, I can leave the question wether erotic short stories or pornographie are protected by copyright law for another day.
