REMINDER: assume in your favor (story time)

i just manifested the wrong team to win by assuming throughout the whole thing that they could win, i just kept thinking "they could at any time turn the whole match around" and guess what they did. this is the thing about assuming, you're doing it constantly, you either do it for what you want or you don't. this is great, personally, i just learned firsthand and very consciously that you can so easily manifest negative circumstances by not keeping your thoughts in check, if i had stopped myself from thinking that (because i didn't) then real madrid would've lost today, or even better, they would've gone to the penalty kicks, and they would've lost then !! (i loove penalty kicks) also how easy and gullible this reality is, because real madrid started losing the game and then they turned it around in the last few minutes (when i started thinking -> affirming they could)

i havent written a character i disliked using in a while.... sometimes i get a bit stuck when im writing a friend's oc tho, bc i wanna represent them well and give them a fun setting/concept. allen, jorge, and the rest of jillian's spouses in my mafia, vigil, are super difficult to write since i lack a firm plot for them. they have many vibes, quirks, and conflicts that are interesting, but not enough to be able to write them on demand like my ishgardians.

honestly i still cant believe i wrote my thesis. i can see all the issues with it now (took years to find the strength to look at it again), but i really put everything my dying brain could muster in undergrad to complete it. i had no idea what i was doing, wanted to tear my hair out when my thesis director had me rewrite my prospectus 5 times, and submitted it while crying that i needed more time.

it was abt siegfried sassoon. he wrote abt wwi constantly, so he would revisit, rewrite, and recontextualize the same event in different formats & with different life perspectives. i analyzed the way his language for describing trauma changed as he aged & developed his voice. then i put his techniques into practice by writing a first person (the real HORROR) epistolary wwi story.

and then i got an a+. and was nominated to join phi beta kappa for it. my director had nothing but good things to say, and she was awed by how immersive my wwi diction was while my analysis of sass convinced her that he was much more than what she'd been teaching in her 1-day segment on the war poets. when i find my notes tearing apart his poems, diaries, fiction, and memoirs, i cant believe how smart i was

about 7 years ago i was on the bus and the woman in front of me made a face time call to someone who was in her contacts as like. “hubby #5” (can’t remember exactly) and while it was ringing, she started checking her makeup and hair using the facetime calling screen. after it timed out, she got a text (don’t @ me for being nosy, i was entranced at this point, like you’ve never eavesdropped on a stranger’s texts) that was like “baby i’m in a meeting what do you want” and she legit replied “i just needed to check my makeup on facetime”

like. this power play. this 4D chess move. because see now hubby #5 is going to be thinking about her at work. he’s going to want to know who she is going to see, who she’s putting makeup on for. i wonder if he knows about hubbies 1-4. the way it works as a plea for attention that is simultaneously a dismissal, because he’s definitely paying her attention now but it’s all on him. she’s chill. she only needed to check her makeup.

i think about it all the goddamn time i can’t believe people live like this
