Today, the mall greeted me with the #bossbabe version of "I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right." It's spreading to different groups!!

But don't worry, guys: the bootleg streetwear store had the classic Rick and Morty version for the bro squad.

Jennith Padrow-Chunt probably wears that first one.

Anyway, I've posted this canvas before, but I had to share it again because it cracks me up. This is my favorite bootleg Rick and Morty illustration. It's so unapologetic, and it's actually well-drawn!

Rick is the GOAT!

This image had a cool 3D effect when the illustrations changed as you moved back and forth.

The classic old-school Rick and Morty fan art that inspired a million Reddit reposts.

OK, I LOVED this one because of the detail of Rick taking a card from Bender through a portal. I'm not normally a crossover fan, but Rick and Morty/Futurama is unbeatable. When will more people ship Bendrick? Those two would get along so well, quickly becoming Leela and Morty's worst nightmare.

Since this was the mall in the middle of what's (apparently) Rick and Morty country, I inevitably spotted a guy wearing a Rick and Morty shirt. I stopped him and asked if I could take a picture because it's a great design. Looks like a tarot card (when is Adult Swim going to sign off on Rick and Morty tarot cards? They signed off on hot sauce and a Build-a-Bear!)

Evidently, that's the new marketing illustration because Charlotte Russe had a similar design, plus a different trippy shirt that I love.

This Charlotte Russe shirt made NO sense to me. Again, we've got Vat of Acid merchandise. It's a great episode, maybe the best in the series, but...why? It's so fucked up. Any merchandise with that vat on it is cursed!

To make it worse, the accompanying illustrations make no sense. Rick and Morty...cheering? And Morty with a tiny Rick doll? Maybe it's a Story Train reference and the shirt references season four as a whole in a weird, detached way.

The art itself is great, but...yeah, I don't get this one.

Pretty sure this tumbler at Spencer's is new. That's the only new merchandise they had. WOW, guys 🙄 I mean, having the rest of the store decorated wall-to-wall with Rick and Morty merchandise isn't enough! I demand NEW content! NEW, I say!

Anyway, I left and completed my post-roundup routine by getting gringo Mexican food. Yaaaaay!

Week 10 Completing the loop.

At the end of the ten week course, I have learnt various aspects of communication skills in industrial design, from the first aspects of engineering drawing to a better and more concrete presentation of ideas and models using 3D models.

Firstly, as far as my learning objectives for the semester are concerned, from the first week of engineering drawing to the creation of 3D models, each step has given me a deeper understanding of industrial design. These learning objectives have definitely helped me to better understand our future work as industrial designers and our understanding of the products on the market. At the same time, these various aspects of learning have made it easier to communicate with stakeholders in our industry and to better meet our expectations for our models and products. In addition to this, Tumbler has been very useful for me, not only to see my growth at the end of the semester but also to encourage others and make my classmates feel more confident and improve together.

The second point is that in the process of learning, there is no doubt that you will encounter good at what you do well, and there is also no doubt that you will encounter various kinks and obstacles. First of all, I am a very fond of drawing, and since I was a child I have enjoyed drawing all kinds of shapes. At the beginning, I thought I would get used to hand-drawing quickly and understand the process of drawing engineering drawings more quickly. However, after studying, I realized that engineering drawing is a very demanding task in terms of accuracy, which makes me very stressed and often wrong in the process of drawing. But with the guidance of my teacher, the assistance of books, the help of my classmates and the search of online materials, I managed to get a good result in the end. I am a complete novice in 3D modelling, especially 3D max, but after trying different things and following the tutorials step by step, I found that modelling was a lot of fun and with the different functions I could make a model that exceeded my expectations. I think I will practice more with these software during the holidays.

The third point is that I really enjoyed these ten weeks of study and although the results were not perfect at times, I still found them to be very rewarding.If I were to say that if I were to do it all over again, for engineering drawings I would choose to go for more different items for multiple attempts. If I could, I would probably take it to some factories to show them some requests. For 3D modelling, I would probably try every single feature and try to make some more interesting items.

Overall, everything I have learned throughout the semester has given me a deeper understanding of industrial design. Thank you for every feedback I received from everyone this semester, and thank you for giving me the confidence to keep working hard.

Week 10 - Completing the loop

Ten weeks ago, I started this interesting and challenging class with excitement. This course has provided us with a lot of knowledge about industrial design and the opportunity to learn and practice skills that I believe will be of great help to us in the future.

In the first few weeks of this Course, we have been practising hand sketching and understanding the basic sketching structure and function. This was definitely something that made me nervous for my first exposure to hand-drawn engineering drawings. However, I learned how to face and learn from the auxiliary views and how to draw in perspective. There was a lot of data to measure and a lot of familiarity with the symbols and images of the spatial structure. I am glad that I could improve my drawing and spatial imagination skills. I was happy to see that I could also do hand sketching, and I was looking forward to learning more about it. Then we started to get into digital tools, and I was personally very interested in digital modelling. I admire people who are skilled in model-making software and dream of becoming such a person one day. We learned together about design concepts and the process of creating digital renderings and began how to use 3D modelling software like 3DS MAX. Also, in this class, we went on a tour It was interesting to see how to scan our physical models into a digital model. I also kept track of each week on TUMBLER, where I was able to see not only how much my classmates were learning about the course, but also how much they encouraged each other to gain confidence and progress together.

All in all, ten weeks have passed and the lectures and tutorials in this course were very helpful to me. I learned a lot in this class through the tutors, video teaching, and reading books, and I enjoyed the satisfaction that this class brought. It provided a great learning opportunity to help me understand the content of industrial design more deeply and to learn to communicate with my classmates about different ideas. I am very happy to have learned so much in this course and I look forward to learning more in the future. Thank you to all the tutors and my peers.

Apparently, it was my destiny to post a merchandise roundup today because when I arrived at Spencer's, I got there just in time to see the employees stacking new Rick and Morty merchandise. Nothing I haven't posted before, but I took that as a positive sign even as a guy started loudly clapping (not because of the shirts) for no reason that I could see, angering an employee.

This visit was pretty serendipitous because a few minutes later, I ran into a guy wearing a Rick and Morty hoodie in the store. He let me snap a couple of pictures:

Anyway, Spencer's was lined with Rick and Morty merchandise as always, but I wasn't finding anything new until I stumbled upon this poster. I love merchandise with experimental art styles. This one in particular looks pretty "old school," like something from seasons 1-2.

"I'M PICKLE RICK!" Nobody's sick of hearing that!

Hot Topic had a new set of socks. Still wondering why so much merchandise has a screaming Morty on it. Do people love it when he screams in the show? I don't.

The bootleg print store had the usual stolen art, but this poster that changed when you looked at it from different angles was actually really cool in person.

I also saw this classic image turned into a print. I love how Summer's over it just like Rick. "Idgaf" gang.

Charlotte Russe had fun, trippy designs. I love the neon colors.

More bootleg merchandise. This time, it was a booth loaded with tumblers, including this gem.

I almost walked past a toy store, but then I saw rows of Funko Pops and thought "Eh, maybe they've got some merchandise for adults." I saw what looks like...a 3D puzzle? Never seen one of those before.

Man, I can't stand that episode. Anyway, they've also got regular puzzles. And again, Morty screams!

Aaaaaah!

Whenever I go into Spencer's, I look for Rick and Morty merchandise in the jewelry section, but I never find it (aside from ear gauges.) I seriously think that Adult Swim should look into that since they're cashing in on everything anyway. RM press-on nails could be pretty lucrative. Same with rings, necklaces and charm bracelets. Also, they're not jewelry, but RM tarot cards would probably be popular.

Hire me, Adult Swim! I'll tell you what all the Tumblr girlies want.
