Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona (very first) Prototype by Scaglietti
In the late 1960s, it seemed as if the performance car world was at a crossroads. With the introduction of Lamborghini’s P400 Miura and its revolutionary mid-engined design, some thought this design would be the future for the upper echelons of performance cars, and that front-engined cars would begin to fade from popularity.
Spurred on by the success of the Miura, Ferrari knew that the replacement of the 275 GTB/4 needed to be something spectacular and new in order to take the fight to Lamborghini. Rather than move to a mid-engined format, it was decided that the front-engined V-12 platform would remain, alongside coachwork penned by Pininfarina. Quite simply, if it works for you and your clients, why go about reinventing the wheel? After all, this is what Ferrari had built their reputation on, and there was no one better at building twelve-cylinder, front-engined GT cars than Ferrari. They were not to be outdone by this team of renegades at Lamborghini, headquartered just down the road from Maranello!
Chassis number 10287 was the genesis of that new model of Ferraris and the Scuderia’s fighting back against the Lamborghini and the Miura. At first glance to the casual observer, the car offered here seems to tread the line between a 275 GTB/4 and a 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Visual cues to both can be seen and some design elements seem to have blended together, but this car is far more than a design study to determine Ferrari’s future. A total of six 365 GTB/4 prototypes would be built, but this example, as the first, remains the most recognizable, the most unique, the most significant, and is undoubtedly the most desirable.
Chassis number 10287 is that of a Tipo 596 chassis, the same type which was used for the 275 GTB/4, made of tubular steel and a wheelbase measuring 2,400 mm (a wheelbase length shared by both 275 GTB/4 and 365 GTB/4). At its heart is a completely unique Lampredi engine, one that would not be seen in any other Ferrari road car at the time. Designated Tipo 243 internally, it is fitted with dry sump, three-valve heads rather than the usual four valves per cylinder, dual ignition, twin spark plugs per cylinder, and is topped with six Weber 40 DCN18 carburetors. The block itself is based on that of a 330 GT but has been bored out to 4,380 cc. What is worth noting about this completely unique and radically redesigned engine is that it bears similarities to the engines found in the 330 P4 prototype racers, the race car that won numerous races and earned its place in the history books after their memorable 1-2 finish with a 412 P coming in third at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona. These racing cars also have double inlet valves with one exhaust valve per cylinder.
Aesthetically, the design in front of the windshield was similar to that of a 275 GTB/4, albeit with a slightly stretched and flattened nose, still boasting covered headlights and a bonnet with a central bulge similar to a 275 GTB/4. The shape of the tail section of the bodywork is instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with a Daytona, utilizing 275 GTB/4 boot hinges and a full-width rear chrome bumper. Chassis number 10287's side profile is most evocative of the production Daytona, and allegedly what Enzo Ferrari loved most about this particular prototype, featuring a near identical rear ¾ section and roofline. Looking at the nose and bonnet, similarities can be seen between this and Jaguar’s E-Type.
Once completed in early 1967, 10287 saw extensive factory testing at the Modena Autodrome over the course of that year. It was first registered on May 8, 1968, wearing Italian number plates ‘Roma B 85391’ through the official Ferrari dealer in Rome, Motor S.a.s. di Carla Allegretti e C, noting a sales price of 8,000,000 Italian Lira. It is interesting to note that, at the time, this was similar in price to a new 275 GTB/4, but by that time, the production version of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona had yet to be introduced, this being about five months before the 1968 Paris Auto Salon.

A MASSIVE shoutout to the Yunping City extravagant inn proprietress, who not only created a safe space for women but also discreetly helped out two men who wanted to share a room but were both too anxious about each other's response to ask for only one.

But my chest is what comes next.
So, Chapter 2 consists of: chests, lots of chests. Bare arms, sleeveless shirts. No more stickers or CG to protect artists’ modesty.  JK’s tattoos full out and proud (God, please hear my prayer: I hope the sleeves fall off of every one of Jungkook’s shirts). Normalizing naked Bangtan. I’m here for that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But seriously...that’s not what this post is about.
I am late to the party but you have to admit, it’s been quite the whirlwind following June 13th’s Festa Dinner revelations. And I am sorry to be visiting a topic that’s maybe been talked to death. Sometimes my brain doesn’t let go of things in a timely manner. Sorry!
I think the release of the crushingly expensive collector’s edition of PROOF triggers me to relive that feeling I had immediately following the dinner.
After processing a few months now I have something to say about the song Yet To Come.
Still got a lot to learn My life, got a lot to fulfill If you're askin' me why My heart's tellin' you We ain't about it The world's expectations We ain't about it That step of being the best We ain't about it Crowns and flowers, countless trophies We ain't about it Dream and hope, and goin' forward We so about it It's back to square one after making one long turn, back to one
It took me a while to put the song in rotation on my playlists. I could not watch the song’s video very much after the premier. It took me a while to watch the music show performances they did immediately following Festa. I was that heartbroken... I could not make myself watch those music show performances for at least two or three weeks. They still make my heart drop because the expressions on their faces, knowing those were their last moments performing in front of Army for a long time [feels my heart stutter again]. I cannot fathom what the members felt knowing they were stepping away from performing in front of us.
Tumblr media
Now I am ready to talk about this lyric: “back to square one”
I posted a few days ago about hoping BLACKPINK did well with their new comeback and I 100% meant it. I am not a fan of theirs and literally know nothing about their music and from what little I’ve heard and seen, it is not something I really connect with. I’ve seen the fan war crap on Twitter. It is what it is...it’s Twitter after all...and the farce of the VMAs last night was embarrassing.
But from what I understand, BlackPink was away for a long time and now they are putting out new music, so good for them and their fans. Their fans seem just as rancorous as Army when it comes to our loyalty. Their song skyrocketed on YouTube and was at the top of the iTunes chart until 2-year old Dynamite dethroned it.
My point is, Blackpink’s fans were waiting a long time for this come back.
Just like we are waiting for the day BTS will come back with new group music.
Another Korean artist whose fan base stuck around: PSY.
We really need to thank PSY because in my mind, as far as the western music market goes, HE is the one who paved the way. HE was the first Korean artist I heard played on mainstream radio with Gangnam Style. He brought Kpop to the world. That’s my opinion because that was MY first exposure to Kpop before I even know what Kpop was.
And then PSY was away for a while being a music industry exec and then he came back with That That with SUGA and that song is a smash and he seems to be very beloved in Korea and even across the world because that song did well and is still doing well.
Tumblr media
My point in all this is, it made me start thinking about BTS and the lyrics of Yet To Come. I interpret the song as “we’ll be back at some point in the future, the past was really great but when we come back we know we will be more ourselves and starting from scratch.”
Now I get it.
Yes, as far as we know at the time of this post, the military obligation will be something they will complete in whatever way it ends up being whether one at a time or in groups or whatever, and supposedly beginning at the end of this year with Jin. They may be gone away for quite a while. We don’t know.
They are saying in those lyrics that they will have to start from scratch with their more grown selves, their more mature outlooks on life, their statements about whatever it is they want to tackle in their song lyrics. And the ever-present spectre of wondering if their fans will still be around. Back to square one.
I don’t think they understand that Army are still going to be here just like Blackpink’s and Psy’s fans were for them. There won’t be that much they’ll have build back up in that regard.
Armys, be prepared, we must be strong for however long it takes them to get back and embrace and support everything each individual member gives us/has given us in the meantime as solo work.
So was it honestly the best? (The best) 'Cause I just wanna see the next ('Cause I just wanna see the next, yeah) Dazzlingly passing Through the memories (Through) so beautifully (Beautifully) Yeah, the past was honestly the best (The best) But my best is what comes next (But my best is what comes next, yeah) We'll be singin' till the morn Heading towards (Towards) the day more like ourselves (Like) You and I, best moment is yet to come
Heading toward the day more like ourselves. I can’t wait.
A bittersweet feeling lingered because I was expecting a tour or at least a few more concerts this year, but I am also so grateful for all the music, appearances and content we’ve received since.
Now that we know there will be a super-mega concert in October, the bittersweetness has mostly faded away. Run BTS Special Telepathy episodes also helped sweep that lingering feeling away as well.
If they are so inclined, maybe they will give us more information about what’s in store for their future. We may have another solo album dropped by October or at least know which one is coming next.
It’s just that the PROOF collector’s edition feels like the heavy vault door from the PROOF concept photos...the vault door closing with a deep and dense resonance. Makes my heart tremble a little however, knowing they had the freedom to take this direction means the world to me.

Day 786 - 789 (2 years, 99 - 102 days)
Tumblr media
Hee-ho! Quick update since a new event started. The Spring Camping event.
It's a small event but very adorable nontheless. It takes place in the 8 player area in the Daylight Prarie. You can easiely access it via the tent in the Aviary or the event building. Funny how they gave you two options to enter.
Tumblr media
In the event building you can also shake hands with the Frantic Stagehand. ^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I said it is a very small venue, mostly consisting of the campfire, tent and Shared Space which allows you to build your own tent.
But there are also a couple returning spirits! The Indifferent Alchemist, Nodding Muralist, Ceasing Commodore and Frantic Stagehand all appear here.
I already own everything from the Indifferent Alchemist and Nodding Muralist but the Ceasing Commodore and Frantic Stagehand still have things I didn't get from them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First the Ceasing Commodore where I was only missing the hairstyle. I do like the braids but the shaved off sides aren't really for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I kinda prefered you in blue. Guess I will just have to get used to this. Oh well... :(
From the Frantic Stagehand I was missing the outfit and hat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The outfit is a dark blue robe... dress? Something like that. I do love it though. I can already think of a lot of outfits that require a darker palette.
I wanted the cat ear cap for such a long time. I looks so adorable. Reminds me a bit of Magolor from Kirby. Hmmmmm... ideas.
Really small event but thanks to the teleport it's really easy to gather some extra candles from the area. ^^

A Personal Photo Assignment in New River Gorge National Park & Preserve
flickr
A Personal Photo Assignment in New River Gorge National Park & Preserve by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view looking to the west from the Turkey Spur Overlook in the Grandview area of the national park. My thinking in composing this image was to angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to create a more sweeping view across the river valley and gorge present at this setting. That would also help to minimize the more negative space of the overcast skies above. Cropping the upper portion of the image captured would also help to create a wider angle view and minimize that negative space with the overcast skies.
