“Dear Brother... 

Vincent said I should write to you... as a way of easing my mind. He does that too. Writing letters to his father, Jackie, Johnny... to the dead. But I know you aren’t “dead”, so I’m not sure this will help me as it is helping him. 

Would you believe I’m a nomad now? Kind of... I live with the Aldecaldos, running away from father... from Arasaka. I took your Steel Dragon coat with me. (I hope you won’t mind the modifications, or you actually may mind, as it will no longer fit you. I will get you a new one, I promise.) All those decades ago you invited me to your gang, and I decided to accept your offer quite recently. So, I’m Asami Ikeda, a member of Tokyo’s Steel Dragons who decided to move to Night City. I met a man here, I think you may know him as V. I know him as Vincent now, and I decided to leave Steel Dragons for him. 

Vincent is good to me, and I don’t mean that lightly. I feel good with him, like... this is where I was supposed to be, by his side. I feel safe with Vincent, and I do trust him. I really trust him... as our hands became dirty in the same way. He doesn’t judge me for what I’ve done to you. He doesn’t judge me for my name. Instead, he... loves me. I don’t know why he loves me though, and he doesn’t know either. “I just feel it, Amore.” - that’s what he said to me.  

I travel a lot now. In fact, I haven’t been in Japan for three months. We ride, and ride, and ride. Away from corporations, away from responsibility, to the tune of the highway, forward to the future. Aldecaldos say “fuel my fire” and I understand it now. I understand why they live this way, so I stopped diving into the net. It’s not like I could work on my projects in such conditions anyway, but... I don’t feel the need to dive. I live now. No BDs were able to show the true beauty of the world. Beauty that somehow survived the brutality of mankind. The brutality that in some cases was caused by our family’s name... The brutality I’ve caused myself as well. 

Vincent is dying because of us. Fate is a fickle mistress, isn’t it? I’m happy, I live, and yet the one whom I... is fading away. He doesn’t want me to save him as I did save you. He doesn’t want to cheat death... He is the best part of my life I ever experienced. He is the reason I’m out here, running away from our father. Vincent is filling the void of cyberspace in me... 

I’ve done terrible things Yori, and of course, you already know it. The things I’ve done... will chase me forever. So I have to ride faster and faster, with no looking back as I will do more terrible things on the way.”

In the year of 2084 Kou Lin Mendez, brought back from the digital afterlife at Arasaka corporation's expense, fully accepted all the terms of her contract and became its new agent.

It wasn't an easy decision but once made it stayed unchanged. She even insisted on getting 'the collar', a protective implant she didn't really need due to her artificial nature, and was wearing it as a sign of her loyalty.

Despite being constantly reported for violating working ethics and leaving way too much collateral damage during her missions, she remained one of the most valuable Arasaka assets for a long time. After all the corporation knew exactly how to tame cyberpsychos long before Kou was born.
