THE 2002 merch suitcase from frnkieromustdie (frank’s instagram).

found the interview!
“When my dad would drive, he’d have this old, brown leather briefcase and would play drums on it in traffic. When he finally decided to get a new one, I went and fished the old one out of the trash and kept it. The lock code was the address from my childhood house – this thing just meant something to me. When My Chemical Romance got together, we had this idea of doing something cool with the merch with something we could pop open at every show. Gerard [Way] and I went to a fabric store, and we lined that old briefcase and it became our merch set-up.” - Frank Iero

Hellsing 2002 calendar illustration.
Ein wunderliche und erschröckliche Hystori von einem großen Wüttrich genant Dracole wayda Der do so ganz unkristenliche marrter hat angelegt die mensche, als mit spissen als auch die leut zu Tod geslyffen
A wondrous and frightening story about a great berserk called Dracula the voivode who inflicted such unchristian tortures such as with stakes and also dragged people to death
#hellsing#alucard#kouta hirano#translation was found in a comment by u/lazyfoxheart on r/Kurrent#fun fact this is the highest quality version of this image that exists online#i know because i've been looking forever for a version that's clear enough to actually read what hirano wrote under '1443'#but there weren't any so i had to take matters into my own hands#the real image on the back of the guidebook is only 2 inches tall so i had to take this with my smartphone and will my hands not to shake#anyway i'm pretty sure it's supposed to say Eğrigöz (the location vlad was imprisoned) so yeah. thank you hirano very cool#if i might rant for a sec it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure that out because i didn't have the guidebook at first#and in the images i could find online that part was just a blur that looked suspiciously like a person's signature and i was like. who tf#i was thinking matthias corvinus since he issued some political propaganda against vlad iirc but it didn't match his signature on wikipedia#then i thought it might be vlad II dracul's since he probably had to sign an agreement to send his sons over as hostages at some point#but that didnt seem right either so i kept skimming vlad's wiki page#and then i was like goddammit...hirano.....you just misspelled Eğrigöz didn't you.. ....#i maybe should've made a separate post dedicated to this instead of writing a novel in the tags but eh#the hellsing brainrot runs deep#also- i put it in the source link at the bottom of the post but the german inscription is copied off a real woodcut of vlad from 1491#except instead of depicting him as an adult hirano drew him as a child which gives the inscription a very different feel imo#the one final thing that interests me about this is the fact that hirano published this calendar in 2002#which is REALLY early in the series. like this was before volume 5 came out??#i have no idea why he decided to do a massive spoiler drop in a random piece of japan-only merch#sandwiched between a drawing of alucard as john travolta from saturday night fever and integra as a fish no less#it makes me really curious to know what the fan response to this was back then. like did people even know who this was#maybe im just an idiot and everyone back then was like 'ah yes its alucard as a 12 year old. how very informative'

Amazingly cool official “Cartoon Network” calendar from 2002, featuring Robot Jones as the month of June.
Also not sure how many of these were made and/or sold, but this also feels like something make specifically for CN employees at the time.

Hey! So Bullets 20th Anniversary is coming up, and I happen to own two different copies of it on CD; the 2002* printing, and the 2005 Enhanced CD reprint. I thought it’d be cool to make a little post that highlights some the slight physical differences between the two**!
* I have NO idea which edition my 2002 one is. I can just gather from discogs that it’s a VERY early variant, possibly first edition 2nd printing. ** I AM NOT SUPER WELL VERSED IN ALBUM/CD COLLECTING! So these are just quick visual differences!
Tumblr media
Front Cover:  Overall the colour on the 2002 version is much much more muted, but here here are key differences
1 - The numbers along the spine of the 2002 version are MUCH duller / not as crisp. This is apparent in all the font. 2 - Like mentioned, the colouring is not nearly as saturated/contrasted. You’ll be able to notice this in other photos.
Tumblr media
Spine:
1 & 2 - Again, the font difference! 2002 has a MUCH larger logo, and the album name is more spread out, and not as crisp as 2005.  3 - One of the most notable things you’ll see is the catalogue number! 2002 printings will have EB-022
Tumblr media
Back Cover:
1 - The muted colors! Because of the photo quality, you can’t REALLY notice it, but check out the difference in blacks! 2 - 2002 versions have Eyeballs first studio address listed on the back, which is in NY. Other printings have their later location in NJ. 3 - Barcode! My 2002 variant does NOT have a barcode! Others do, though. Also note the Enhanced CD over the barcode of the 2005 version.  4 - The font is not nearly as crisp on the 2002 variant, also notice how the coloring is a lot more yellow than then 2005 version.
Tumblr media
Inner Booklet: You can REALLY see the difference in colour here! It is also a clearer picture of the spine.
Tumblr media
CD:
1 - The Eyeball logo is MUCH larger in the 2002 version, and my variant in particular has a bit of a misprint/messy looking lines. I think other 2002 variants have a much clearer/crisp lines (but I’m not 100% sure!) 2 - Again, the catalogue number. 3 - 2005 Enhanced CD! 4 - The holder thingy (v technical, I know) in the 2005 version, is on a hinge - so you are able to move the cd and read the back page without the plastic in the way.
Tumblr media
Back Cover: Very noticeable difference here!
Tumblr media
Booklet: Again, noticeable changes were made! Also to note - the actual paper in my 2002 variant is A LOT thicker than the 2005, which is cool

Ok! I think that’s all!! Feel free to ask any questions or such. I love answering anything about old lore / merch.

This is a 2002 Xbox Microsoft Blinx The Time Sweeper Keychain Figure and it is pretty neat.
This figurine is well made and I wish Blinx got more games since it seemed like a unique game.
I just hope a indie developer makes a similar game but with dogs vs frogs people with a fake language and you can have that idea if you want.
I really like the early 2000s aesthetic and the ost this game and the sequel has.
I know you can play the first Blinx on the game pass but not the second one which is weird.
I know there is a Blinx plush I want to own next to the Klonoa plushies.
Images of Blinx not holding a weapon is not mine and link is there.

what's the first anime you remeber watching?
dragon ball z! i was immediately exposed to it growing up because my older brothers were hugely into it, so it's one of the first pieces of media that i was exposed to.
#ask#anon#i remember we had these old wall stickers of most of the characters on the wall next to our bunk bed.#but yeah i remember having dreams and memories of wanting to be trained by piccolo but uh#i was far too young to understand what piccolos actual intentions were for doing so#as a kid i misinterpreted a lot of stuff about DBZ because i didnt have the right contexts#like i thought yamcha was gokus brother. i thought piccolo and goku were really good friends.#i though raditz was tricking goku when he said he was his brother#i thought kame house and kami were related. and i was always so confused why god had his own merch and a house he didnt live in#oh. i thought ox king was like. a dude chi chi was dating while goku was gone. or like goku just lived with them.#it took me a really really long time to learn who ox king was. and that he was chi chi's dad.#but anyway yeah. we had a fair ammount of DBZ merch and games. though the games were region locked#so my brothers had to use something that hooked into the ps1 to play those games#i dont remember what or how though#we had... Ultimate Battle 22 and... Legends? the latter had a dark gray border around the screen and icons of the characters faces#but it wasnt until i owned DBZ Budokai that i fell in love with the show#and was my first exposure to Zarbon#it came out in november 2002. so i was 4 when i got it. cause i let my cousin borrow it for his birthday when he turned 3.#i never got that game back from him cause everytime i asked back then hed always make an excuse to never give it back#he doesnt know where it is these days which sucks cause i want a physical copy again...#and btw its not an exaggeration when i say Zarbon is the reason im the way i am#literally the moment i saw him i was like ''wow. he has long hair. jewelry. pink attire. and a regal voice? wow. a guy can be that?''#and then he turned into his monster form and i was like ''oh this dude is so fucking cool''#and now i am bisexual because of him#anyway thank you for asking anon! :)#sad to say that idk what other animes i wouldve watched around that time if we wanted to put up another likely source#i also didnt know what an anime was as a kid. it was just cool brutal cartoons to me

Official “Whatever Happened to… Robot Jones?” promotional notebook, made by Cartoon Network back in 2002. It is unknown how many of these were made, or who they were given to, but they are definitely SUPER rare.
I’m assuming these were made in regards to the series premiering, as it seems they included Robot Jones on some previous CN merch around this time. It’s possible these were also made as merch to just give to employees of CN, or maybe just employees of WHTRJ? Who knows, just a hunch, you know?! 🤷🏻‍♀️
