not to be annoying but i do think a lot of people mischaracterize falin. shes got the most drastic canon v fanon thing going on. which i guess makes sense bc 1. we dont see much of her and 2. lot of the fan stuff are anime-onlies that have seen even less

but i think like a good 90% of the time i see falin-centric art or posts im like hrm hrm hrm thats all wrong no nope no-siree

she's just a cool chick that takes life as it comes, doesn't hold grudges even against a mother that apparently was trying to beat the magic outta her, finds her older brother the coolest person in the world, and has autism about observing life (and death, she loves the ghosts she has a connection to) and nature and taking care of things (including taking care of her brother, which is why she's even in the dungeons; she saw her scrawny mess of a brother and decided she had to fix that).

and i think my favorite part that people don't talk about is... she would have done the same for marcille or laios if it were one of them that was eaten. you could see it in her eyes:

it's what shuro misunderstands about her. it's easy to see her feminine, cute, good girl pieces and forget the rest of her. but she loves things to an ends-of-the-earth extent; the kind of caring that makes you a little insane. and that's how I think she and laios end up on the same page with their weirdness. they have different interests, but they are the same level of committed to those interests.

it's easy to love her, because she probably loves you just as much, if not more.

Yamai developing an interest/obsession with a civilian, maybe even a tourist that manages to make him feel a little less cold just by bumping into them. She has no idea who he is and got way too lost and tipsy when she wandered into the Night District. And instead of being afraid of this creepy man, she overhears him grumbling to his underlings about being cold and just fumbles around with her scarf. She's so...motherly 👀👀👀👀 even when drunk as shit and should be wary of the giant scary obvious criminal surrounded by other criminals near her

"Oh, you're chilly? Um. Um hang on...I c'n help. Here, I gotta...a scarf! It's kinda thin since it's s'posed to just look cute when you go to the beach an'stuff. Here ya go!...How come yer cold? This is Hawaii! Wait, are you...you anemic, maybe? Or you have a condition? I'm so sorrryy, I didn't mean to be rude! Here, you need...need iron. There's an ABC Store over there, maybe they got, got vitamins or some beef or something. That'll help, maybe..."

And to his surprise when she hands him her scarf, he's warm for just a fraction of a second when her fingers touch him before the chill comes back. He immediately knows he has to keep her. But initially he's so shocked at the warmth that he just freezes and she stumbles away with a wave since he didn't say anything back to her. "Stay warm, 'kay?"

The underlings ask if he's alright, and by the time he composes himself she's stumbled into a cab back to her hotel. So he starts a hunt for her using every man he's got to track her down and bring her back to him. One of his men snaps a photo of her to confirm if it's the right girl, and Yamai keeps it as his phone background. He keeps her scarf in his pocket everywhere he goes and to relax he'll sometimes sniff it like the creepy weirdo he is.
