Digi Dynamic Shipping Game
Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Tumblr media
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji
Tumblr media
Whether canon provides input on them or not:
It’s been a while since I’ve written a whole relationship analysis, so before getting completely out of shape, I thought about digging up my old poll again to focus a little bit on Daisuke’s and Miyako’s relationship.
Even though my memories on 02 overall are very rusty, I do remember very vividly that these two share a very physical - if not one of THE most physical - relationship with each other from the very beginning. Which may actually be best described as: “Bickering siblings”.
As far as their “origins” go, they’re not as clearly stated as it is with Iori and Miyako being neighbors and Daisuke being classmates with Hikari, having known her through Taichi before the series; there's no indication that Daisuke and Miyako have even met face to face beforehand, let alone interacted properly, but they DO seem very comfortable talking to each other from the first moment on, mainly indicated by the fact that neither of them uses honorifics for each other. Along the lines of the series, it is strongly implied that their older siblings (Jun and Momoe) are actually good friends. And this may or may not have had an impact on whether they’ve actually met/spent time with each other before - and whether or not the impression they got about each other through their siblings’ (supposed) descriptions was a positive one.
Either way, in the way they do not idealize their own siblings and instead have to fight for their privileges and for getting respected, they already have a lot in common with each other - and can be seen as a mirror towards Takeru and Hikari, who clearly idealize their older siblings. And it makes sense to think that their upbringing is mirrored in their behaviour towards each other - they’re constantly teasing and taking jabs at each other, there are several occasions where they describe each other’s behaviour as “weird”, comparing them to others, basically putting each other down/disagreeing with each other. As if to prove their own superiority. They’re loud, they’re opinionated - and also ridden by underlying insecurities about it.
Speaking of which; another thing they have in common is how easily they are infatuated by others: Daisuke’s crush on Hikari and Miyako’s crush on Ken (at the beginning of the series) respectively are somewhat based on them putting them on a pedestal. (In Daisuke’s case, aside from Hikari being one of his earlier friends, I do believe that he's also idealizing her because she's Taichi's sister, whom he greatly looks up to after all.) And it basically takes until - ironically enough - Ken (for Daisuke) and Hikari (for Miyako) become active parts in their respective developments that they’re both starting to become “less shallow” and, more importantly, less aggressive and territorial about their “fights”.
Unfortunately, that also means that there is less of a (visible) development between them, aside from a few comic relief moments and so, a lot of this analysis is based on interpretation of subtext after all... However, despite the bickering - which continues to be a thing between them until Kizuna and even the few bits we saw about the 02 movie -, they’re also seen fighting for and being protective of each other when it matters, being happy when the other is safe. So if we get back to the insecurity part - since they clearly do have a lot of things in common, it should not be a surprise that they’d still be there for each other. And even if screentime may not prove it directly - they probably understand each other better than one might assume (even if it’s questionable whether or not they’re aware of it themselves). And to put it like Taichi and Yamato - sometimes, a good fight may be the best sign of a “good relationship”. (Sometimes, it may also take a slap...)
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
Since I’ve put so much emphasis on the “sibling angle”, I think there have to be very specific circumstances to happen for these two to see each other in a romantic light. It’s absolutely not impossible, but first of all - one would have to make sure that neither Ken nor Hikari are available for EITHER of them. Ken is not only the person Miyako canonically ends up marrying, but also basically Daisuke’s soulmate, whereas Hikari is basically Miyako’s and also Daisuke’s previous love interest... Thus, one scenario could involve Daisuke and Miyako consoling each other over not “getting the one” they initially desired. Because they’re actually familiar and close enough that it would actually work in my opinion.
This may sound sad and tragic at first glance, but the way I see it, them not focusing on Hikari and Ken is the only way for them to notice each other in a different light; actually looking at the things they share and have in common, realizing how much they may have idealized other people in their lives, how great they actually are - basically allowing themselves to be vulnerable around each other instead of getting defensive. Their walls have been built way too high and while Hikari and Ken were able to tear them down and they tore down theirs (with a slap respectively)... I do believe they could actually tear each other’s walls too IF they took the time to look at each other. They need to acknowledge that the other has soft and caring sides, but once they do, it may become a very (mutually) supportive and more open-minded bond than ever before. They’re both fun-loving, they’re competitive, so they could be challenging each other in more casual, more loving ways too!
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
I know people who are very fond of this ship in a romantic sense. And, as lined up above, there is a lot of unexplored potential in their relationship, based on their character dynamics and patterns alone - so I understand where y’all come from! On the other hand, it is also hard for me personally to not see them with the sibling angle, so for now, I’ll just enjoy them as such!

{Blog P.S.A} For New Followers
Where to Find Me: MY "ABOUT"+F.A.Q {READ FIRST}: Here (About) + Here (F.A.Q)! A.0.3: Hikari {Currently/Mainly creating for Digimon, Adventure-related franchise} Other Sideblogs: izzyizumi (main Digimon blog) hikari-m (official Digimon {news+art} archiving; Asks or follows may come from here, Depending) taichi-x-koushiro (Archiving for Yagami Taichi/Izumi Koushiro) IF YOU ARE A NEW FOLLOWER OR LURKER, I'd really appreciate if you can send me an Ask and introduce yourself (you do not need to expect a response from me), even a short description like name (Pennames are definitely fine!), preferred pronouns (if any) and/or what brought you to my page and what you're staying for (Especially if you were here for re-source{s} posts, I've been curious if they've been helping anyone!) The reason I am asking this is because lately there's been a huge uptick of spam blogs following with particular "patterns" to their Likes, Follows, etc. and in order to prevent from being soft-blocked by accident if you are not actively blogging, it'd be great to know in advance if you're a real person. Aside from A.0.3 the only other 'active' archives of social media that I have are my old Live-journal and Dream-width accounts, and even they're not quite in use these days. However, if you also have active LJs or DWs and actively blog, feel free to let me know too!

It’d be very, very cool if people could also learn to read my FAQ page linked on the sidebar before sending Asks or interacting directly with either of my blogs or myself, because I’m seriously TIRED of people ignoring it and my rules for interaction.

{Digimon Adventure}/{02}/{tri.}/{Pre Epilogue-verses} {Index} IzzyIzumi / KoushirouIzumi’s Fanfics for Koushiro Izumi, Taichi Yagami, & Koushiro x Taichi {KouTai}/{Taishiro}/{Etc. (+Friend)Ship[s]}
I know there’s been a lot of Digimon Adventure-relevant fandom/fan-events going on lately. I usually can’t participate in events for varying reasons, but I’m glad to share my past works in the form of this index. ALL were created out of Positivity and respect for this series. Please feel free to reblog anything relevant if you have a fan-event going on and I've made a relevant work, as long as you follow my general Interaction rules! (Looking over my F.A.Q first would be beneficial to you too!!)
{This post is initially marked as 'no reblog', so I can go back and change later; but feel free to 'Like' if wanted!}
[I'm trying to keep this out of less commonly-used tags; but I do use {many of} these for organizing on my blog, and I hope they can reach more fans of these pairs this way!] As usual, many of my works can be found via my AO3! {Anything else will be linked here, then likely to AO3 in the future!}
Title: REPEAT?_ Ship{s}: KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} (Main Focus) YamaSora {Yamato x Sora} is implied for a few very fleeting, brief moments {along with a single ambiguous timeline one-shot} Summary: Taichi wasn't sure what he was expecting. …He just knew it wasn't… this…
(Please see inside for all Notes!)
Title: The Past World Rating: PG Notes: Implications about self-loathing (both Taichi & Koushiro) & Koushiro's previous self-depreciation {Novels-implied} in general - Royalty!A.U.; however things may not be as they appear... + Dark!Chosen Children A.U. appears in some parts (mainly in flash-back form, until...). Characters: Taichi, Koushiro, Adventure Chosen team, 02 Chosen Ship{s}: (Same as "Infalliable" listed below can be read in) + KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} focus. Ken x Miyako has a scene where they're both present, but not completely in a relationship yet; as friendly. Yamato x Sora is implied for a few very fleeting, brief moments Ken x Daisuke is implied for a total of one (flash-back) A.U. scene, but will come to have a heavy presence in future sequels to this A.U.
"-- About that, you'd be better off asking your new advisor," "H-huh?--" When suddenly -- -- as if out of nowhere -- -- from a short distance -- a shy gaze peers up at him
… pure black eyes.
Title: Possession Rating: PG-13 / R (Violence implied) Notes: Epilogue era / Taichi and Koushiro are adults, 30-35+ - can be conidered a spin-off timeline / part of REPEAT?_ - partly based on general head-canons, partly based on my old as heck Digi-O.C. fic and the head-canons I / Young me had for its own future / epilogue era - Leans more post-02, {no Tri} canon compliant overall (thus many things happen differently between these two things) - (still) partly based on new ideas gained from Tri - KouTai + Government Corruption A.U.??? + Ambassador!Taichi (Koushiro hasn't quite reached the "Digital World" Researcher position Yet) Summary:
"We’re… being targeted," "but not just by---"
"One, a certain one, among them" "had the power to open the gate" "–and immediately close it again" Title: Ten Rating: PG-13 Characters: Koushiro Izumi & Daisuke Motomiya {Friendship} Ship{s} KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} heavily Implied Summary:
“…Can you turn around and— - it’s April 2004. (..Or is it April 2003? Spring 2003?) - at the end of Spring 2003, something else astonishing occurred: Daisuke’s sister Jun, the Inoue sisters, & Shuu Kido all became Chosen at once. - an incident, (occured, and then) —
“I’ll help, so we, you, can get out of here !!—”
“They {Won’t come}”
…TAICHI-SENPAI’s GOGGLES ( … Are probably absolutely unfitting for Koushiro Izumi, but…. ) Title: Candles Rating: r18 Implied ? (Pre?-Fade-to-Black) or Mature / technically Work-safe Notes: some Specific Headcanons are heavily implied technically part of REPEAT?_Verse, ( ficverse version here ); - it can be read as a standalone fic - it can be read as an AU and/or spinoff of the main REPEATVerse; - or as its own standalone AU/spinoff Verses: Post-Advs (can also be post-Tri/Kizuna); pre-Epilogue [+Kids]; Taichi has graduated a while ago by now. Taichi has been involved with his Ambassador career for a while, but it’s still getting off the ground too. (And it’s . Stressful) +Taichi and Koushiro are heavily implied to be living together already here. Summary: Taichi is having ... a hard time. Featured Head-canon: Jewish!Taichi (+Koushiro) Implied
Title: Dreams Rating: r18 Implied ? (Pre?-Fade-to-Black) {It's a bit Ambiguous. You Might Get An Idea} Summary:
Sometimes, Koushiro dreams. (Of Brown hair, Brown eyes.)
This can serve as a prequel spinoff to my other Koushiro-centric series, "REPEAT?"_-verse or be read as a standalone.
Title: (Dirty) Computer Summary:
"Do you like computers?" Tentomon had asked Koushiro, once.
“You just like working with machines more THAN PEOPLE, don’t you?!” … But why does it MATTER if Koushiro – DID —
A character study and analysis on Koushiro Izumi's Canon personality, (with a touch of heavily implied headcanons), with brief references to Koushiro's notable relationships, Family, and those Interests. "It's OK for you to be obsessed with computers!" - Mr. Masami Izumi, Adventure Episode #38 (There are some light references to the novel's given backstory details for Koushiro, including Koushiro's mindset there.)
Title: Koushiro Izumi Is Touched By Death Rating: PG Notes: Implications about Death & Grief (for passed loved ones), + the mourning/grieving process in general Characters: Koushiro Izumi & Daisuke Motomiya Ship{s}: (Implied) KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} can be read into the background, but is not actively discussed / mentioned Summary:
In which Koushiro Izumi Is Traumatized, Has Always BEEN Traumatized, And Daisuke Motomiya {NOTICES}.
Takes place shortly before "the summer of" a somewhere between 2003~2005. (02 takes place in April~December 2002, Tri takes place in 2005 June~December.) {Tri knowledge is not required to read, but may be helpful to understand continuity.}
Title: Infalliable Rating: PG Notes: Implications about self-loathing & Koushiro's previous self-depreciation {Novels-implied} in general Characters: Koushiro Izumi & Daisuke Motomiya Ship{s}: (Implied) KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} can be read into the background, but is not actively discussed / mentioned; Daisuke x (Girl)!O.C. ("Hikaru"); in background; (My O.C. does not appear much within the context of the fic, but the dialogue refers to an event she was involved in immediately previously, with a Koushiro-focus and Daisuke-relevant aftermath.) Daisuke x O.C. aren't "together" yet; it is developing relationship. Ken x Daisuke x O.C. may be Implied in spin-off fic{s}; Ken x Miyako may be implied in canon-compliant 'verses, with former Ken x Daisuke heavily implied / mutually requited-yet-unrequited (as purssuing a direct relationship) / hinted. Poly-ships may be included in any future spin-off, but none are referenced in this specific one (yet). Summary:
Daisuke stares moodily ahead. Koushiro does the same, except Daisuke genuinely doesn't know - cannot even tell - if Koushiro's doing it "moodily" or not, because Koushiro's blank staring is that unreadable. They sit, Daisuke next to Koushiro, for a few long, long moments. And then -- Koushiro... opens his mouth -- "I'm not infalliable." Daisuke's eyebrows furrow, even if he can't look at Koushiro in this exact moment --
"Unshakeable? Indestructible--" Daisuke's head hurts. "I admit there was a time when I thought, ..." "NO!! That's not true!!"
"When you asked me, 'What about YOU, Daisuke-kun' -- the one who gave me that push -- that was you."
A "missing scene" of Daisuke & Koushiro friendship from my other Adventures & 02 Chosen fic; "The Past World" You do not have to read that one to appreciate this "missing" moment, as its mainly friendship. There is a slight hint of Daisuke/Original ("Girl") Character OC, but its more lightly implied; (Epilogue semi-canon compliant) There are also background relationships like Taichi/Koushiro, the slightest hint of background Ken/Daisuke, others hinted.
Title: Words Rating: PG Notes: Implications about self-loathing & Koushiro's previous self-depreciation {Novels-implied} in general; with a focus on self-acceptance + Koushiro's heavy use of formal speech and communication in the J.P.N version is referenced frequently. Tri is referenced / implied-as-AUs or for semi-canon compliancy (light spoilers for Kokuhaku; but not majorly referenced; just a quote) {plus a gif of a small moment involving Taichi + Koushiro} [also one more small conversation moment between Taichi and Meiko] (a scene from the first episode of the 2020 Reboot is referenced) - it can be read as a standalone fic - it can be read as an AU and/or spinoff of the main REPEATVerse; - or as its own standalone AU/spinoff (i.e. this can be read on its own) Characters/Groups: Taichi & Koushiro; Koushiro Izumi & Tentomon; Koushiro Izumi & Mimi Tachikawa; Koushiro & Izumis Ship{s}: KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} focus Summary:
– To be honest,
Taichi and Koushiro don’t need words.
( They have a lot more than Just )
( words )

Since it popped up on the Podcast, how would you rank the sibling dynamics from healthy to trainwreck?
This is an innocent-sounding question until you go over the franchise and realize just how many sibling relationships there are in Digimon and that all but like three of them have elements that might raise eyebrows. In the interest of being comprehensive, this includes all named characters in any anime, manga, and game I’m familiar with, treating the reboot separately and including Survive because... (looks at Kaito and Miu’s bios) ...holy crap.
Sibling Relationship Rankings! (Healthy is Higher)
Joe & Shin Kido (Adventure): Shin understands Joe’s hang-ups and offers support to make his own choices without steering him in any specific direction, for or against the family. And Shuu exists too (depending on the language you’re watching in)
Juri & Masahiko Kato (Tamers): For all of the awkwardness and potential points of fracture in the family, Juri and Masahiko are very close. Fun Fact: She started carrying around her iconic hand puppet to amuse and entertain him!
Keito & Nozomi Tamada (Re:Arise): Even with very different personalities, Keito and Nozomi have a lot of respect for each other. Unlike some big brothers, he comes to a mature conclusion when he realizes she’ll be just fine with Pumpmon at her side.
Yamato Ishida & Takeru Takaishi (Adventure 2020): Yamato’s worry over Takeru only affects his reluctance to take on time-consuming side quests when he might be in danger. Far more chill about trusting Takeru with the rest of the team, he’s a motivation rather than a mental handicap.
Masaru & Chika Daimon (Savers): Perhaps a more controversial pick for the healthier side, but Masaru and Chika have a playful relationship that proves that Chika dishes out as much as anyone in the family. Given how much harm DATS and Digimon have done to the family, Masaru risks her love to keep them away from her.
Joe & Shin Kido (Adventure 2020): Shin’s still supportive and still encourages Joe to make choices for himself, but having that bugout bag ready to go raises some serious questions about that family and which side Shin’s really on.
Ai & Makoto (Tamers): Toddlers fight. It’s okay. They come together for Impmon’s sake and the fact that they’re the only duo in the franchise with mutual custody over a digivice has to say something about the strength of their relationship.
Nene & Kotone Amano (Xros Wars Manga): Nene’s tactics are still desperate but not quite as extreme as the anime, and it counts for so much that Kotone fights so hard for Nene once the tables are turned. And good lord that backstory...
Takuya & Shinya Kanbara (Frontier): There’s definitely a sense of Takuya lapsing into thinking Shinya encapsulates everything frustrating about having an older brother, but he gets over it.
Miyako Inoue + Three (Zero Two): Perfectly normal large household. And while wondering what it would be like to be an only child is something every youngest does... top of mind fantasy, Miyako? Really?
Jianliang & Shaochung Lee (Tamers): Speaking of four-packs... there’s no doubting how much they care about each other, but Jian’s occasional short fuse with Shaochung betrays his usual calm demeanor, and we never get a picture of the full family dynamic once Rinchei and Jaarin are included.
Daisuke & Jun Motomiya (Zero Two): Everyone likes to paint Jun and Daisuke as something uglier than it really is. As much as they annoy each other, it’s still a pretty conventional sibling dynamic and they’d still fight hard for the other... even if the feeling’s closer to obligation.
Koji Minamoto & Koichi Kimura (Frontier): There’s no questioning the bond they develop, but there’s no way Koji and Koichi go from “don’t know the other exists” to “ZOMG Twinzies!” without a ton of awkwardness and feeling each other out. They’ll get better, but from our standpoint this is where we start to drift into trainwreck territory.
Tomoki & Yutaka Himi (Frontier): Tomoki can spin it all he wants but Yutaka comes off as a real jerk. Not that some resentment isn’t a little justified given how much Tomoki is coddled, but taking it upon himself to be the bearer of tough love is still not cool.
Taichi & Hikari Yagami (Adventure 2020): Hikari has a blind faith that Taichi can save the day in any circumstance, up to and including international shipping crisis. Meanwhile Taichi sees Hikari lapsing between typical friendly eight year old to brainwashed robot and doesn’t find any problem with it.
Yamato Ishida & Takeru Takaishi (Adventure): Lessons in how not to be an overprotective big brother. Yamato freaks out at the slightest notion that Takeru might be exposed to danger, including his very presence in the Digital World. When you have a complete nervous breakdown realizing that little bro’s actually pretty capable on his own, it’s not about your relationship with him anymore.
Touma & Relena Norstein (Savers): There’s caring about a little sister, making her plight a central cause in your life, and then involving her in a chess match with a madman. There’s a lot to forgive here (they are raised in a family where your kneejerk reaction to Grandma is “I bet she supported the Nazis in World War II”), but everything about their relationship just makes you uncomfortable.
Kaito & Miu Shinonome (Survive): Maybe it’s not fair since their game is the franchise’s unicorn, but their bios have warning flags all over it. He’s overprotective, ready to fight at the slightest hardship, and she repays this attitude by being rebellious and weird and eager to pursue trouble. May end up being worse once the game actually comes out.
Rei & Hajime Katsura (Appmon): Another one where their backstory makes you sympathize with the lengths they go to in order to stay together, but risking the security of actual guardians to go it alone? Jesus. Even with their ride or die attitude, you still sense a bit of friction in their relationship, and so many of their hardships are their own doing.
Nene & Yuu Amano (Xros Wars): There’s nothing seemingly wrong on the surface between Nene and Yuu, but that’s why their actions are so extreme. Yuu’s more than happy to treat her as an enemy general in his game, while Nene’s aligning herself with dark forces and causing real trouble to get him back. It’s all very loud and intense for a relationship that, without external influences, is just nice and cordial.
Yuuko & Yuugo Kamishiro (Cyber Sleuth): You can be anything you want on the internet! So why not take the identify of your big brother who was stricken with a mystery illness at a young age and lead a legion of hackers? And if you’re Yuugo, use your digital body to take control of that avatar! Nothing weird about any of this!
Ken & Osamu Ichijouji (Zero Two): Like Tomoki, Ken can come up with whatever rationale for Osamu’s abuse he wants, and Osamu at least had some kind moments, but there’s no denying that this family was a mess. And of course Ken’s reaction to Osamu’s death... could have been better.
Taichi & Hikari Yagami (Adventure): Hikari’s introduction to the series was intended to be a little creepy, and that just sets the tone. Her blind loyalty to Taichi is a primary point of emphasis through three series, and Taichi sometimes goes ballistic worrying about her... when not accidentally endangering her life. And that’s before she unleashes a world-destroying abomination at the mere suggestion that Taichi’s dead, and why telling him “what you’re doing is wrong and I kind of hate you for it” is a big moment for her, even though she’s wrong.
Neo & Rei Saiba (V-Tamer): There’s going a little overboard to keep your family together or save a sibling’s life, and then there’s aligning yourself with evil forces to avoid having to deal with your sister’s manageable disability. Call it being jaded or delusional, but when it drives your sister to attempt suicide there are definitely issues you two need to work through.
Erika & Ryuji Mishima (Cyber Sleuth Hackers Memory): Because aligning oneself with Arkadimon is always a fantastic idea. He’s overprotective, she manipulates him because of it, there’s resentment, there’s anger, and basically the entire game is spent watching these two outdo each other in terms of causing wanton destruction throughout the city and cyberspace.
Honorable Mention: Bagramon & DarkKnightmon (Xros Wars): The battle of who can stab the other in the back last.

Somethings I would like note about Daisuke
He is insecure
His friends abandoned him in episode 19 and it was literally pure luck that no evil digimon found him (an au of this episode where he gets injured and tries to hide it would be fun)
Jun is the only family member to ever ask where he goes. This shows how inattentive his parents are.
Jun slapped him once indicting one of two things either 1) he and sister are the physical types, and generally fight with fist (the Motomiya's are an athletic family after all) or 2) Jun is just mean
Hikari uses his crush on her to manipulate him in some cases- Exibit A) That time when Takeru wanted to pause for lunch and Daisuke wanted to keep going she buts in and says she wants to stop, Exibit B) She states that she hates people who talk bad about their siblings
Not sure about anyone else, but this particular line annoyed me to no end. Hikari has never even met Jun?!
This is kinda gross because everytime Hikari does this she could accidentally be revealing Daisuke's crush on her to literally everyone that's around.
Daisuke is fluent in English (I guess this is why he went to America?)
The American digidestined treat him with respect
He apparently watches American movies
He calls both Ken and Miyako by first name with no honorifics
Ken and Miyako call him Daisuke with no honorifics
He is Taichi and Yamato's kouhai
For all that people like to say he's awful at school work there is little to no canon back up for this, unless you count that one throwaway comment for his parents (who let's be honest probably don't know his grades)
Daisuke got in trouble for accidentally kicking a soccer ball into a window for what appeared to be a repeat offense, never for his grades
In 02 he is eleven so the complaint that he's childish falls flat because he was a child
The offical website states that he studies everyday for his chef license
The comment that his parent's made regarding his grades tells us that Daisuke isn't a genius like Ken that's it
His first pair of goggles was destroyed
He was never actually the leader of the digidestend because everyone else wouldn't let him lead
Despite his insecurities Belial Vamdemon's illusions did not work on him
V-mon never dark digivolved and didn't need to because Daisuke's attempts to get him to digivolve weren't fueled by negative emotions
Daisuke's friends (except Ken, V-mon, and Wormmon) almost always appear to ignore him when he asks for help even though he would lay his life down for them

Son - Digimon Epilogue Celebration
Tumblr media
Just as I did yesterday I will throw some headcanons here. Still inspired by ChieroCurissu (check her fics!).
Kotaro Takenouchi:
Kotaro is an adorable boy, everyone loves him because he is extremely kawaii.
Chiero sometimes makes him a future doctor and sometimes a future nurse. I like Kotaro nurse.
He loves to play tennis and he is very good at it.
He is always saying "I'm already an adult, I'm xxx years old", haha, even if he’s like 6.
For a long time he was the youngest of the children but then the Kenyako baby arrived, and also a few additional kids. He pretends to take care of them all but in reality HE IS the baby of the group, no matter how old he is.
He is very small in size so he’s always hiding and listening to the other kids plans and then he lets his parents know haha.
Kyosuke Motomiya:
In his childhood he was mischievous and went everywhere with the Yagami and Takaishi boys, although the two of them were best friends and he was ... a very close friend.
He was in love with Yuriko Hida just like Seiyuro Takaishi and they were always fighting about her, but then Kyo got over her and fell in love with Kurumi Ichijouji (I love that couple).
He was very naughty but also brave, he played soccer of course.
He is still brave when he grows up, but in my opinion he is less impulsive.
He is very cute, he has abs (I'll say he boxes) and he eventually conquers Kurumi Ichijouji.
Doguen Kido is his younger cousin (Jun eventually married into the Kido family).
He has a very funny relationship with Mayumi Takenouchi, who is very serious but he annoys her and she eventually, and only with him, plays along. They call each other 'Suke and 'Yumi (L).
Kyo is brave, dedicated, determined and knows how to cook, he is a worthy leader of the group.
Seiyuro Takaishi
First some context: as we know Takeru dates several girls in his life, with one perhaps being more important than the others. He likes her, but she is a free soul, who wants to travel, paint, have other boyfriends ... she does not believe in protection, she likes natural methods and Takeru behaves a little irresponsibly with that and leaves her pregnant. He asks her to marry him, but she laughs and tells him that they can have a shared tenure, but that she is not going to be tied to a relationship that she does not want... and that he does not want either, because he is not in love with her.
Things go very well, but Takeru has no idea how to care for a baby and at night he often finds himself calling Sora, maybe even showing up at their house, also because he doesn't want to bother Natsuko when it's cold.
Seiyuro is a blessing, because it brings all the family closer. Growing up alongside Hikari's child, they are the best friends one can hope for, just as Takeru and Hikari are. (Hikari is happily married to someone older than her, who loves her madly. Maybe Hikari doesn't love him as much as he loves her, but she respects him, cares for him and is happy).
Seiyuro is an old, literary name, and I think that Sei and Toshiro Yagami (Hikari Yagami's son) are old souls, but he is above all an eccentric soul... he deserves that name, more with his writer dad and his eccentric mother.
I think Takeru and his son are very happy with the family they have, I don't see them suffering for not having something conventional ... and I don't have any hc of Takeru eventually having a wife. For me, he is forever a bachelor.
He’s always protecting his cousins.
Toshiro ?? (Hikari’s son)
Toshiro is a mystical boy, alongside Zetaro Ichijouji (middle boy). I like to believe that Daemon wants to take him away to hurt Hikari, and that Toshi suffers a lot because of this.
He is not as happy a boy as Seiyuro, but they complement each other and their friendship is as beautiful as the Takari friendship.
He is in love with Yuriko Hida and they end up being tennage parents.
Taiki Yagami
He is Taichi’s son. I don't know if his name convinces me, but I've gotten used to it.
He is Mayumi Takenouchi's best friend, and I will never accept them dating, ever!
He becomes a Marxist, rebel boy while he is a young teenager (13ish?). I like that he likes politics, maybe influenced by his father and mother (Catherine, who is a lawyer) but also as a way of rebellion. Taichi is never around, and Taiki thinks that saving the world is more important to him than dealing with him. He is a troublesome child.
I can’t believe I’ve left my fave Ben (Tachikawa?) out, but I won’t write anymore. Sorry about the missing boys. I love them all!
Now into some of my fanfics about the boys:

My take on ships for Taichi Yagami
Obvious note: This is all fiction so let`s not take it too seriously. People can interpret the interactions in canon differently and consequently, ship whatever they want. I am no one to say otherwise, this post is just about expressing my opinion.
I am going to start with the "official” romance. Digimon Tri suggests TaiMei is the canon pairing for our digimon leader. What can I say? We could all see it coming from the start. I didn't want to believe it, but it was pretty clear. I am not a fan. Probably because I dislike Meiko quite a lot. I get the feeling that the creators didn't think much about her character. The similar name digimon and her were a mere plot device; one that didn't work well, actually. What the fandom wanted to see was the old digidestined (the 02 kids at most), not new additions. On top of that, they had to make Meiko just another `female turned love interest´ failure. All just because Tai needed to end up with someone even if the OVAs had no time to properly develop their interactions, much less build some type of intimate bond or romantic relationship between them. Apparently, you can't have a single lead.
Supposedly, it is also semi-canon that Taichi has a crush on Sora (I know this is the old polemic, dub vs. sub and everything but the point is that in Digimon Tri, they tease with it). So, are you really telling me that the way to let go and get over a heartbreak is to immediately fall in love with the next person you see? WTF.
Speaking about Taiora... to be honest, if we are making monogamous couples (in reality I am plain Taiorato trash, but let`s focus); I am more inclined towards the Sora x Matt. In the future, I would like to make a post exclusively defending my old and all time favourite OTP. For now I will leave it in the following: Yamato and Sora have always been the mature and complicated of the group (along with Joe Kiddo). There is an undeniably deep connection between them (in Adventure both have darkness in their hearts due to being too insightful and demanding with themselves, so they can probably understand each other in a way others might have difficulties to) and their crests (love and friendship) fit so well. The message you can extract from this pairing is simply beautiful and it helps this characters who have been super emotionally bottled up grow.
There is mainly one thing that bothers me with the Taiora ship. People make it look like Sora owns Taichi something, it seems that she is obliged to return his feelings because they are childhood friends, he has been nothing but nice to her, wanted to save her when she got captured and even risked his own life to do it. Honestly, the `Tai deserves to be loved by Sora´ argument is based on a really sad and toxic perspective about how relationships should work. Girls don't need to like boys just because they treat them right. I mean, that should be the bare minimun, something all guys should do. Nevertheless,I guess this rant goes more for a part of the fandom rather than the pairing itself.
The next big ship would be Taiyama. I have no problem with seeing Tai and Matt`s relationship as sexual, however, there is something about them being a gay couple that doesn't click me the right way. I think it is because they are too explosive together (I need to see mediator Sora Takenouchi involved for them to work).
Oh, I almost forgot! I used to low-key ship Jun Motomiya with Taichi. It was appealing to me when I was a stupid pre-teen because in 02 they were the rejected side of Sorato and maybe they could connect over grief ¿? I don't really have an opinion about the ship nowadays.
Considering I have covered Michi and my BroTP Taishiro in the respective posts about Mimi and Izzy, I am left with few mentions to make. The Yagami/Kamiya brother-sister bond is adorable and I enjoyed that Taichi had also an older brother role with Takeru in Digimon Adventure because his `parenting´ style is so different to Yamato`s. A similar thing happens with Daisuke Motomiya. I would say is more intense due to how much Daivis admires and idolizes Tai. I personally think the former leader secretly roots for DaiKari because he somehow sees his relationship with Sora reflected on his sister and the google boy.

Note
I kind of remember you mentioning that you'd be interested in writing up something about how Digimon made their female characters awesome at some point.
Great topic! You could probably write a whole thesis about this, but I’ll give it my best.
I truly believe that one of the main reasons why Digimon Adventure/02 managed to transcend its genre and is so enduringly popular is because of how well it portrays women.
Let’s face it: this is still a series for boys, made in a deeply patriarchal society, and where sexist themes and scenes still abound. With some vague exceptions, traditional gender roles aren’t really questioned.  But, despite of its limitations, Digimon has a special and progressive way of portraying girlhood and female friendships. I find that… pretty remarkable.
In Digimon Adventure, we start off with only two girls, easily outnumbered by five boys. Therefore, Sora and Mimi have the difficult task of representing all girlhood.
They’re also pretty different from each other, which could make it tempting to have each of them stand for a specific “type” of girl. Really, it would have been so easy to have “the tomboy” and “the princess” and put one against the other.(Are you a Sora or a Mimi? Who is better? Who is stronger? Who do guys / parents like best?)
Adventure doesn’t do that. Both girls get individualised, well-written arcs. Their role in this story is not to be “The Girl”. They fight alongside the male Chosen Children. They show agency and complexity. They have flaws. They’re relatable. Both are valid.
Moreover, their relationship has no real signs of conflict or jealousy. You don’t see Sora resent Mimi or Mimi judging Sora based on their different ways of displaying femininity. Instead, it’s all about solidarity, acceptance, and affection.
Later, the series introduces a third female protagonist – Hikari –, who gets less time to be developed, but still manages to become of the most powerful characters. DigiJesus is, in fact, a girl.
Digimon Adventure 02 follows pretty much the same formula: two very different female protagonists (one less “traditionally” feminine, by Japanese standards), outnumbered by the boys. Still, it adds a new dynamic by showing their relationship with older girls (specifically, Miyako looking up to Sora, Mimi and her sisters).
Yet, in 02 the  main girls do face a conflict. Yes, the series makes “the girls” Jogress with each other (would the subtext in a boy/girl Jogress make it too problematic?), but it’s not all sunshine and roses. Girls getting along isn’t automatic or easy - the diferences in Miyako and Hikari’s personalities don’t stop mattering just because they both have vaginas. Before Jogress, they simply aren’t that close, and that issue is addressed. There’s a fight – they admit they don’t get each other, that there’s jealousy involved. Slapping happens.
Once again, what could easily have been depicted as a cat fight for superficial reasons is instead rich in depth and complexity. Hikari and Miyako aren’t petty or “overreacting”. Instead, they talk about their feelings, work out their differences, decide to learn from each other and support each other. Female solidarity wins, and they come together metaphorically as Silphymon to fight darkness. Miyako – rather than one of the male characters – becomes Hikari’s protector.
02 even tackles a dangerous trope: a teen girl who is in love with a boy who choses another girl over her. The victim in this triangle is Motomiya Jun – the funniest, yet least dimensional character in the series: an obsessed groupie who stalks Yamato and won’t take no for an answer (all of which is played for laughs, and provides none of her POV; did I say this series was perfect?). Wouldn’t it be predictable, even logical, to just play it as the “scorned woman” cliché, and show Jun as the woman who goes crazy or destroyed when she’s replaced by a “rival”?
Nah. Jun’s reaction is not like that at all. She’s upset, but quickly decides to move on. She doesn’t mope around, and she certainly doesn’t decide to attack the guy or the other girl.
In this series, even the worst female character is handled with respect.
Another shout out to the many strong, interesting adult women in the series (many of them working mothers – something that is rarely depicted in Japanese or American children’s fiction). The choice in villainesses is more limited, but Tailmon and Arukenimon are probably among the best written foes in this series.
In short: if you were a girl growing up with Digimon Adventure & 02, you had plenty of positive, diverse representation. You could watch girls who weren’t constantly judged on their looks or who had to be constantly saved by men. Children of both genders got to see something that (sadly) isn’t common in children’s fiction – well-written, strong, active girl protagonists interacting in equal terms with the boys. Girls forming girl-boy friendships that are not based on romantic attraction, and lots of female friendships based on solidarity and respect. This is a Japanese show for boys from the late 90s, and its messages have aged great. Are there many current shows who could say the same?
So far, I think tri. seems to be true to this heritage. The addition of a female member to the main team is a great idea; Maki is one of the best Digimon characters, period. Moreover, although the girls are now teenagers, we really don’t see any of the typical elements that often seem characterise girls in teen dramas: they’re not romantic interests; they don’t seem too worried about their looks. They are pretty damn independent and funny and strong. But, above all, their personalities and the strength of their relationships are preserved – you may have qualms about Meiko, but you cannot deny that it was mostly the girls who made her feel welcome. Even the girls who were rude to Mimi were handled well.
So, yeah. Despite its flaws, and considering its time and place, I’d argue that Digimon Adventure/02/tri. is a pretty feminist show. Not only are the female characters awesome, but there’s one overearching theme which I find crucial and which, unfortunately, isn’t always present in fiction:
In Adventure, girls support girls.

Hi.
:D
You already know what's coming.
Gimme Daisuke and Sora (:
Byeeeeeeeee
Hehe, gotta stimulate my creative writing skills a bit here, just you wait. <3
Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji
Tumblr media
Whether canon provides input on them or not:
As pointed out in the Iora analysis post before, Sora, unfortunately, doesn't get too many opportunities to bond with the 02 Chosen Children on her own, as her main focus point among them is obviously Miyako. So basically, we only have two instances to work with: First of all, when Taichi reveals that Daisuke turned out to be one of the new Chosen Children, Sora is among the first to react to the news, asking whether it's the same Daisuke they went together to football club with. So it is already established that they must have known each other before. Again, unfortunately, that's about everything we really get about them here, because we don't see them interact with or react to each other.
The second instance is the Revolmon/Starmon episode, in which the gang (minus Takeru and Hikari) travels to the Digital World to save Piyomon - again, it's mainly Sora and Miyako who interact with each other, but there are a few minor instances that at least hint at them being comfortable and trustful around each other. For example, when Sora suggests that they can't wait for Takeru and Hikari to join them and should travel to the Digital World right away, Daisuke agrees immediately - which is actually unusual for him, since he normally probably would have insisted on waiting for Hikari at least. So we can assume that it's important to him to help his senpai, whom he probably also looks up to from back in the day in football club. During the episode, they're framed next to each other very consistently, when drinking milk, when being held hostage, etc. and they also share some nice "annoyed faces" at their "enemy". Last but not least, we get the shot above - Daisuke and Raidramon got hit by an attack and fall to the ground, just to be caught by Miyako/Sora and Hawkmon/Piyomon respectively. Sora's protective nature is still intact as we can see - so while this is not a lot material, we can at least assume there is groundwork for a mutually protective bond between the two. Let's get to the creative writing part, shall we...
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
Again, while it is somewhat hard to tell how these two would interact in different scenarios, I'd like to think of them as having a lot of respect for one another - as pointed out, it seems plausible to me that he'd look up to her in a similar way as to Taichi, whom he always adored and admired, probably even aspired to be like him to some degree. Watching his two senpais being absolute aces, I couldn't see him arguing with Sora the same way he does with Jun or Miyako, but he may actually put her on a (tiny) pedestal (similarly to how he does it with Hikari, who, obviously, is also linked to Taichi). In turn, Sora may have quite the soft spot for Daisuke trying as hard as he does - especially because she should be able to empathize with his self-doubts of not feeling good enough. She's also familiar with guys who have big mouths - so she'd also know how to deal with him in case his emotions would get the best of him to keep him in check.
Which is actually something I could see him doing for her too - at least once they're a tad bit older, because during teenager years, it's sometimes difficult not to spout out things you probably didn't mean to. But thanks to his relationship with Ken, it's easy to see that he can see through other people's insecurities with utmost sincerity and openness once he knows someone well enough - or rather, WANTS to know them better. Sora is pretty closed off in terms of her own feelings and needs - we can see that the other guys have quite the hard time getting through to her, because they too, are closed off to some degree. So taking someone who slowly but steadily overcame his own self-doubts for the sake of his own happiness, Daisuke could actually be a great person to help her open up. Making her understand that going for her own dreams and wishes may be difficult at first glance, she may step on a few toes because of it, maybe even face consequences here and there - but it's not impossible. And if 02 taught us anything - Daisuke would always encourage others to strive for the life they want to live. He can be a bit naive at times and may not find the most... Sensitive words in each and every situation, but he goes for what he believes in and he's blunt about it. Which is exactly what Sora could need in order to get in touch with herself better.
Overall, these two are pretty passionate about the things and people they care about. They also have a certain hot-headedness about themselves as a result, they both can get angry if people don't value them accordingly, making them feel underestimated, so it is possible that they could clash here and there - but when I look at them, I could see a lot of softness too, if they manage to be open with one another. In the end, Daisuke is growing into his own person, he may be the heir of Courage and Friendship - but he is neither Taichi nor Yamato and maybe, just maybe, that could be a great romantic match for Sora as well.
I could see them being silly together, I could see him asking her for a little football match to cheer her up or for a round of ramen when she's stuck with her exhibitions. I could see her wanting to give him confidence boosts in return as well, helping with the decorations of his restaurant or she might even design his own restaurant brand of work clothes - and he, being also very similar to Mimi regarding his bluntness, would be absolutely in awe of everything she creates and be also very vocal about it.
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
Well, thanks to @dutchforstrangers, one could say that these two may or may not be a little bit of guilty pleasure, hehe. Granted, I'll always live for Taiora and Daiken going to football matches together as a double date - but based on everything I've talked about above, I cannot deny that the perceived respect I can potentially sense between Daisuke and Sora is something that can be pretty intriguing. Because canon didn't give us a lot to work with, we gotta make it work in other ways, right? I know I keep mentioning how characters "can be good" for one another, especially those with underlying self-worth issues... But all these characters are very dear to my heart and have a lot of potential... So whether you see this as being Daisuke just looking up to his senpai and Sora respecting him, or them ending up in a mutually supportive and honest romantic relationship - feel free to come to us to talk about it. ;)
