I own 14 vinyl record albums, 8 of which are Halsey. Now, if you know Halsey, you know they only have 4 albums, so you might think I have two of each. I do not. I have 5 copies of If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power

I’m really glad I was listening to NWTB through the release and later music video release of Branded, because if I wasn’t, I’d be out here trusting Spotify lyrics like they’re not the most inaccurate piece of carbage enterpretation of whatever the singer is actually saying.
Anyway. If you are a Spotify user just know that there’s a 50/50 chance of their lyrics being complete guess work.

There’s this Sonic AU idea I’d had for so long, and I feel like SOMEONE must’ve done something like it by now since Sonic fans have made every au possible, but I’m sharing it anyway.        The AU was that Amy was also an Eggman robot like Metal Sonic, and that the whole Little Planet fiasco was a bait and switch from the beginning. It would go with how Amy’s classic design (no shade) is basically just Girl Sonic, because it would be pretty characteristically childish for Eggman to think something like that would trick Sonic IMO. Makes the kidnapped girl trope a bit spicier too.        This would also make Amy and Metal like siblings, which is funny with how they would both come out of the experience with wildly different opinions on their target. This wouldn’t be an Amy is evil AU, her seeing that Sonic didn’t rescue her for romantic reasons at all and just because he’s a selfless hero, and not the silly fleabag of hormones Eggman explained him as, would inspire her to leave Eggman behind. Her poor brother was a bit too humiliated and smashed to bits to have this lil revelation.        I thought those origins would be a very sweet motivation for why she would be so obsessed with Sonic, as well as an explanation for her super strength lmao. I mean, inexplicably strong little girls are already funny as hell, but imagine her cute girly demeanor covering up she’s actually lowkey a killing machine? Great stuff. I’ve always wanted more reasons to parallel her and Metal too, and this AU does it through one of my favorite tropes of Robots Learning To Appreciate Life, while still keeping their characters relatively similar. Heck, maybe after Sonic Heroes she can be the one to take Metal in.

Jodai Higashikata is the sperm donored son of John Joestar. He’s the pitcher at his school’s baseball, a rather amicable if a bit anxious and shy. Relatively withdrawn he tends to keep to himself and tends to prefer to follow the lead of others as honestly he doesn’t really know what the fuck is going on, however like all Joestars this boy has got a temper, insult the way he dresses and he’ll hurl insults and punches as his way of dress mimics the man who saved his life on that harsh winter storm. When he’s done with baseball he’s eager to learn medical sciences.
That “i don’t know what the fuck is going on here” feeling intensifies when this guy who is apparently his nephew and this funky mirror show up to town looking for him and also apparently the rest of Morioh is rife with Stand users, cool.
During 1988 he was struck by an illness caused by gaining a Stand ability via DANTE stabbing himself with the Stand arrow causing a ripple effect amongst blood related Joestar users.
After powering through he soon gains the Stand known as [When Doves Cry] which has the ability to change the material of an object.

i find it interesting how a lot of these 4th gen groups are selling so many physical albums but are not generally known among the public. and how the music landscape is largely digital now (youtube, spotify, tiktok, etc.). i can't really wrap my head around it because no way are people are actually buying multiple albums for the random chance that they get their faves' photocards (at least i hope not? it's so much waste...). a 4th gen stan is probably gonna be mad but i was a fan during 2nd gen/3rd gen and even with the biggest groups with the biggest songs, they didn't sell the amount that a lot of not-as-big groups are selling now. it was big news if a group sold more than a million (esp in exo's case where it was consecutive) but now it's realllly common.
oh anon i hate to break it to you but that is exactly what is happening. entry for fansigns is also another way they'll try to get people to buy more albums. it's all about numbers inflation, but also i don't necessarily blame companies for trying to pump physical album sales because those are what make them money. spotify pays literal pennies in royalties and i suspect that every other streaming platform is the same, so - especially for the last two years since there was no touring/offline events - they have to find a way to make a profit somehow. but the downside is that it does lead to a massive amount of waste and no company cares to do anything about that. the only one that i know of who has actually made an attempt to mitigate that is ist, victon's company, who offered an option for chronograph to have a digital download and photocard only. i think they also might have done the same for hanse's album as well. to be fair i think the exorbitant copies getting thrown out is mostly a problem for the really big groups only, but it is common for fans to buy 2-4 copies just personally if they're collectors, just because of the different versions.

we were the liminal kids. alive before the internet, just long enough we remember when things really were different.
when i work in preschools, the hand signal kids make for phone is a flat palm, their fingers like brackets. i still make the pinky-and-thumb octave stretch when i "pick up" to respond to them.
the symbol to save a file is a floppy disc. the other day while cleaning out my parents' house, i found a collection of over a hundred CDs, my mom's handwriting on each of them. first day of kindergarten. playlist for beach trip '94. i don't have a device that can play any of these anymore - none of my electronics are compatible. there are pieces of my childhood buried under these, and i cannot access them. but they do exist, which feels special.
my siblings and i recently spent hours digitizing our family's photos as a present for my mom's birthday. there's a year where the pictures just. stop. cameras on phones got to be too good. it didn't make sense to keep getting them developed. and there are a quite a few years that are lost to us. when we were younger, mementos were lost to floods. and again, while i was in middle school, google drive wasn't "a thing". somewhere out there, there are lost memories on dead laptops. which is to say - i lost it to the flood twice, kind of.
when i teach undergrad, i always feel kind of slapped-in-the-face. they're over 18, and they don't remember a classroom without laptops. i remember when my school put in the first smartboard, and how it was a huge privilege. i used the word walkman once, and had to explain myself. we are only separated by a decade. it feels like we are separated by so much more than that.
and something about ... being half-in half-out of the world after. it marks you. i don't know why. but "real adults" see us as lost children, even though many of us are old enough to have a mortgage. my little sister grew up with more access to the internet than i did - and she's only got 4 years of difference. i know how to write cursive, and i actually think it's good practice for kids to learn too - it helps their motor development. but i also know they have to be able to touch-type way faster than was ever required from me.
in between, i guess. i still like to hand-write most things, even though typing is way faster and more accessible for me. i still wear a pj shirt from when i was like 18. i don't really understand how to operate my parents' smart tv. the other day when i got seriously injured, i used hey siri to call my brother. but if you asked me - honestly, i prefer calling to texting. a life in anachronisms. in being a little out-of-phase. never quite in synchronicity.
