Andrew Blackthorn is a very... perplexing character to me because we know next to nothing about him but all his kids seemed to like him as a dad... and yet some of the only things we do know about him are that he a) gave Helen & Mark childhood trauma via Keats instead of having a normal conversation and b) he used to restrain Ty in order to "train him" to the point it made him throw up. like idk if there's a particular intention behind his character being good or bad (in general) but I definitely hate him lmao

Hi after almost nine months I am finally making an introduction post.

Welcome!!

The goal of this blog is to find and reblog as many Death Note related fanworks as I can.

The Death Note fandom is full of passionate, talented, and creative individuals whose contributions deserve to be shared and appreciated, and I want to help share and appreciate said contributions as much as possible. Also the knowledge that someone’s fanwork could drop off the face of the earth never to be found again because it was deleted or something keeps me up at night and I want to make sure those works can still be accessible to others.

I predominantly reblog from blogs who have posted recently, but that is purely because they are the easiest to find. If you know any older blogs that used to post any form of Death Note fanworks, I would appreciate it if you sent them to me.

In order to make this blog easier to navigate, I have created a google doc containing links to all of this blog’s tags relating to characters, formats/types of fanworks, relationships (both platonic or otherwise), and years. If there’s anything wrong with the links, please let me know.

As my aim is to archive as many Death Note related fanworks as I can find, when looking through this blog, there is a good chance you will find something that makes you uncomfortable. If that bothers you, then I recommend going through the google doc and filtering any tags that contain anything that will cause you discomfort (you can filter tags by going to settings —> account —> content you see —> filtered tags). Please do not harass me or anyone else over fanworks that personally make you uncomfortable, all you will succeed in is making others uncomfortable in return. If you don’t like something, just don’t engage with it.

Finally, if you have any questions/need to tell me something, please feel free to send an ask. I will try my hardest to respond as quickly and comprehensively as possible. You can also ask me to try and find a specific fanwork/creator, but there’s a very good chance I won’t be able to find what you’re looking for. Regardless, if I do find it, I will let you know as soon as I can.

the "big picture" - whether that refers to some detached, calculated greater good; ruthless ambition and progress for the sake of progress; or even the dear listeners' cosmic indifference - as an antagonistic force in wolf 359 is so fascinating to me because of the way eiffel as a protagonist is set up to oppose it, just by nature of who he is. eiffel retains his humanity even under the most inhumane circumstances. his strength is in connection, and with that he's able to reach others who share his core values, but he's operating under a fundamentally different framework from the show's antagonists. he can never understand where they're coming from or be swayed by their points of view because, for better or worse, he can only see the world through a close personal lens.

it's an ideological conflict he has with all of them, but notably with hilbert: "you talk about helping people, but what about the real, live people around you? [...] that's your problem. you're so zoomed out." eiffel will never, ever see that "big picture" because he is so zoomed in. at his best, he puts things into perspective and grounds the people around him. at his worst, his perspective narrows so drastically inwards that he becomes blind to everyone and everything else. his failings are deeply, tragically human - they're personal, they're impulsive, they're self-destructive. they're selfish. no matter how much he might try to narrativize or escape from himself, he's still left with doug eiffel: "it's taken me this long to realize that running from everyone else means that you're alone with yourself." eiffel could never be convinced to harm others on purpose, but he has hurt people, and it's never been because he didn't care. the very fact that he cares so much, that he's incapable of reconciling the hurt he's caused with the things he values, is what keeps him from real growth for so long. where many of the other characters in wolf 359 will justify their cruelty in service of something they consider more important, eiffel is so caught up in vilifying himself and the fear that he's always going to harm the people he cares for without meaning to that he shuts himself off from the people who care about him and perpetuates his own self-fulfilling prophecy.

#wolf 359 #w359 #doug eiffel #someday i'll finish my essay about the big picture as an antagonistic force. it's only been on my list of things to do for uh. ever #eiffel really cannot be convinced by Big Picture ideology in any form because he's so. unambitious and inwardly focused #he's not self-reflective at ALL but he is self-centered #and in some ways that's genuinely a good thing #but it's interesting. that he vilifies himself and tries so hard to. externalize his redemption and see some humanity in others #as proof he might be able to be better. when if those people consider themselves villains at all then they consider it necessary #i'm not sure if i'm phrasing this the way i want to but his worldview is just. fundamentally incompatible. #when i think about eiffel i think a lot about. how self-loathing is also a kind of exceptionalism. considering yourself uniquely bad #is its own way of avoiding accountability. #idk. it's complicated. it's a lot. it's interesting that lovelace talks about the 'big picture' when she's briefly a sort-of antagonist #but her 'big picture' is personal and emotionally driven in a way no other use of the phrase is #and then of course you have hera in am i alone now. such a big big universe etc. #when she betrays that perspective immediately and directly by talking about it through such a narrow personal framework #one of the most direct examples of 'big picture' thinking vs. personal connection in that contradiction. but that's another post maybe.

Idk if it's just me but, generally speaking, yandere Miguel is lowkey giving yandere Diluc but bumped up to an eleven, plus Miguel is quite literally feral.

ngl i have actually had a few 'wait am i writing for miguel or diluc here,,,' moments over the past couple of weeks. i think they're pretty similar in the whole 'stoic, traumatized hothead wants to be the cool composed leader-type but cannot stop throwing hands for literally anything' way, but diluc is a refined victorian gentleman who would cum untouched the first time he seems your unclothed back, whereas miguel is whorish in the way only a man who regularly goes to pta meetings can be. they're two different fonts of the same slutty, slutty man.

amazes me that people can remember information about routes in pokémon games. like ‘i loooove route 217 ❤️’ ‘route 209 has such a banger theme!!!’ ‘have you made it to route 225?’ ‘you can find this rare pokémon on route 210!’ bestie those are numbers. those are just numbers to me how do you remember which area is which. i think i have a general idea of most of them but i still have to look them up every time i need to refer to them in conversation

#of course i know some of them #but a lot of them are like uhhh #they do count up of course but it’s not like the map is a perfectly linear thing #how am i supposed to keep track of all those. please just name placed actual names #another reason i love pla the map locations are names and not numbers!!! goodness. #paldea is like. ok there are a total of four giant provinces simply and aptly named after the four cardinal directions #easy enough #however the sub-areas are once again. numbers. #and because once again a map is not a linear thing those numbers aren’t helpful #also the way they’re spread out makes no sense. the south province is huuuuge with six different areas #yeah uhh area six and area five are on opposite sides of the map!!! why. #i think they’re listed like that based on how early they expect you to get there #like you start in area one of course #you probably won’t get to area five right away even though you theoretically could fairly early. i believe #but you would have no real reason to bc there’s no main story beat over there it’s a very quiet area #area six is mostly alfornada and the cliffs surrounding it which you REALLY can’t get to until later #point being. i know there’s probably some sort of logic to this numbers thing. but it’s still a confusing system #pokémon
