so while i don’t have a name for the band yet (im open for recommendations really), here’s some npcs of the band maddie is part for the main timeline, if nothing is plotted otherwise. while the band primary focus on punk rock & even heavy metal, they are very flexible & experiential with genres, often just playing on their own time. if they have gigs in bars or other locations for the extra cash or networking, they play indie or pop songs whenever they get a gig at a bar; they’ve probably had ten events in total. while they do have their own songs, they often play covers. for most of the members, this is an extracurricular & hang out while taking class in college, considering many of them have internships for their majors; all of them are college seniors except noah & maddie, both juniors. maddie is also the only one that doesn’t go to ucla, since she now at cal state, la (will need to update this). isaac, emilia, & maddie are the most likely to remain in the band / music industry, especially as they plan to make their debut album after graduation for the seniors & during the summer. either way, it’s good for resumes for emilia, maddie, and gabi’s graphic design & luke’s website design portfolio. so, yeah, these may be names maddie mentions since it’s a huge portion of her friend group whenever she’s not around liz or jamie.

isaac fuller, using icarus falls as a stagename / 21 / college student (art & art history major) / lead singer, rhythm guitar, songwriter, & founder of band / he’s timid at first impression but talks more passionately with his favorite topics, like music & mythology. fc: dakota trancher williams

emilia velasco / 22 / college student (music & psychology major) / lead guitarist, arrange covers, backup vocals / is the closest to maddie & technically a co-found of the band being close to icarus who started the band in college. she’s fluent in tagalog, growing up with her mother’s native language. she loves dogs & came with maddie a couple times to visit raleigh to see his two dogs. she also has spent the night at the apartment liz & maddie share & is probably the most mentioned name of the band. / fc: liza soberano

maddie shaine / 20 / college student (music industry major) / bassist, songwriter, occasionally adds the harp / the latest member of the group when she moved to la, replacing the former bassist when she graduated. her & emilia had been messaging as internet friends a year ago with maddie follow emilia’s tik tok & emilia found maddie’s harp covers interesting.

noah hsu / 21 / college student (political science) / keyboardist & backup vocals / had a class with gabi during his freshmen year, where a group project strength their friendship. she knew he played the drums & asked if he would like to join. he isn’t around as much due to his internship, though has interesting stories about it when he hangs out with the band. considering he has an unrequired crush on luke. fc: jing-hua tseng

lucas ‘luke’ hunter / 21 / college student (computer science) / drummer / lived in the same dorm as isaac & took the chance to join. he does some of the website, using it as one of the senior projects, as well & manages the bands “formal” social media. he has an unrequired crush on noah. fc: quinn lord

gaberiella ‘gabi’ torres / 22 / college student (art major) / graphic designer & general assistance / she & isaac have been dating for three years now alongside being good friends with emilia. can be consider a co-founder of the band to be around isaac. she & isaac design any art & logos / fc: keana lyn��

This may be a day early, but I had to put this out. My mom works at an elementary school. She met a woman who, a few days ago, came into the school, carrying two large boxes filled with school supplies. She had never met the woman before, and the woman told her that every year, the woman chooses an elementary school to give supplies to in honor of the children and teachers who lost their lives. She gives one box to the first graders, and the other to the grade the children would have been in. These kids would have been in seventh grade.

This 360 sf. structure is located on a remote 60 acre, privately owned second-growth forest in Sullivan County, NY. It is sited on a steep, isolated area of the property with no vehicular access, no piped water and no electricity.

From the outset, the Half-Tree House project outlined two formidable directives: design a structure that can be constructed by amateur weekend builders & a limited construction budget.

The topography presented a difficult challenge. In an effort to minimize sitework (in this case, shovels by hand) and to eliminate the need for large footings, retaining walls and pumped concrete, the architecture is lifted above the ground and relies upon support from the trees. Sonotube footings anchor the upslope corners at grade while half of the weight of the structure is distributed, via Garnier Limbs, to two existing trees.

Engineered wood beams form the perimeter with standard nominal lumber for all intermediate framing. Three 8’x8’ steel-tube pivot doors, the largest single expense, were fabricated offsite and installed, weatherstripped and fitted onsite with dual-insulated glass.

Exterior and interior boards were milled and kiln-dried from the Eastern Pines felled on the property. To minimize maintenance and to withstand long wet winters, exterior boards are treated using traditional Scandinavian pine-tar. Interior walls and ceiling are painted and the floor is protected with a clear matte sealant.

The space is heated with a highly efficient Jotul wood stove and power, if needed, is drawn from a portable generator. The entire construction was performed by its two owners, and in the true spirit of New England barnraising, with a team of dedicated weekend support.
