This might be badly worded but I just wanted to say thank you for everything you're doing when it comes to fighting against callouts and all. I still struggle with feeling stupid for having anxiety attacks and what I've been told is PTSD because of baiting to kill myself and detailing how I deserved to be r-ped over a fic and a character, I still cannot watch what fandom it was apart of because of how terrifying and triggering it was all so I'd "learn my lesson", "see the error of liking (fictional character)" and "we'll be nice again once you delete that fic bestie!" and so much more. There was immense trauma that I feel so shameful for feeling traumatized about still. I really struggle with participation in fandom because of it but from the bottom of my heart and soul, thank you for being here and fighting back, making fandom feel a little safer. You, your strength, your ethic are an inspiration. I wish you endless good things and support.

I don't think it's badly worded at all. And I'm so, so sorry this has been your fandom experience. You didn't deserve it, they were in the wrong, and the fact that this is becoming a problem from younger folks in fandom spaces? Fucking sucks.

It's literally...baffling to me. The rise of purity culture in fandom? Baffling. Fandom is where I went to ESCAPE purity culture in high school and now this shit is following me in? EW.

I kept this message for a while, because it really meant a lot to me to reread. It's such...all I wanted to do was to write fic. Fandom has ALWAYS been this open inclusive space for ANY ship, even the ones I fucking hate. I'm not shy about the ships I hate! I talk about it literally all the time! There is space to hate ships. That's why the anti tag exists. Some of my closest most beloved Hellcheerers are Reylos and I fuckin' haaaaaate Reylo.

But there's space for me to hate Reylo. I don't need to take a faux-moral stance for me to hate it, I can just hate it because I hate Adam Driver's stupid face. (Or how the focus on his arc deteriorated Finn's arc as a result IT'S FINE. NOT THE ISSUE.)

There is space for fluff and coffeeshop AUs and the most disturbing violent dead doves you've ever seen. There is space for love and fun and trauma and hate.

It's just very outside my fandom experience. The ship wars were vicious, but they weren't trying to shove puritanical moral value to them. It was literally just "I fucking hate Kikyo's stupid face she's a slut", which yeah, reductive and mean, but at least it was honest and not trying to turn it into good vs. evil.

I really hope this weird fuckin trend of harassing dead dove writers or writers of "problematic" ships dies. And I hope your next fandom is lovely and warm and supportive, because you fucking deserve that. We all do. No one deserves this kind of vitriol. It's inexcusable, pathetic, and I'm never going to shut up about how awful it is.

James Norrington (Pirates of the Carribbean) - I was obsessed with this character for a while. I named a Minecraft villager after him. I cried when the Minecraft villager died. All things considered I like Will and Elizabeth slightly more but they're two people so James is the tiebreaker <3

Aunt Zelda Heap (Septimus Heap) - This is a lady who eats cabbage and nothing else. Who has a cat who is a duck (or vice versa). She wears a giant quilted dress and lives in a swamp and brews magical potions and I want her life so bad.

Max Mayfield (Stranger Things) - MAX! my sweetie pie max <3 I love her so much. She's such a brat, she reminds me a lot of my little sister who I don't always get along with but love a whole lot. She's very cool, first person to introduce El to the concept of autonomy which we love her for, AND she gets to date Lucas (who's really Goals as a partner, if I could I would count him here too).

Blue Sargent (The Raven Cycle) - I don't know how to articulate how I feel about Blue exactly, like. her whole backstory is amazing (being raised in a house full of lady psychics while NOT being psychic herself but having Other abilities) and then she just gets looped into the weirdest plot possible and just hangs with it like a pro. Lot of respect <3 also every outfit she wears in the books seems like exactly something I'd wear.

Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) - God, I love this kid so much. The narration of those books is peak, Rick Riordan put so much PERSONALITY into Percy and he's just. Such a cute kid. He loves his mom and wants nothing more than for her to be safe. He's quippy and very funny and he knows it. He's genuinely scary at times. Amazing character.

Ravi Singh (A Good Girl's Guide To Murder) - honestly such a good sport, if some girl turned up at my door and started grilling me about the murders my brother supposedly committed I would NOT handle it that well. He's a sweet and caring guy, a good boyfriend, funny, and also helps solve murders. Very cool 👍

Grace Chasity (Starkid's Hatchetverse) - A literal bible-thumping puriteen in a way that's genuinely so funny. Manslaughter? A-ok. Dismembering a body? Sure. Terrorizing summer camp with an axe? Why not! Carrying someone's books before marriage? Showering naked?? Smoking weed??? You're literal satan! She's so funny and I would genuinely hate her irl but as a character she's amazing (and Angela Giarratana KILLS her performance it's amazing).

Normally, I don’t read Hermione bashing because people make her a real bitch that is after Harrys money and that doesn’t care about him, which I think is weirdly non-canon. So reading the MiT was kind of a suprise to me. It didn’t have the tag bashing and you were definitely NOT bashing her, but wrote her pretty boring, distant and cold.

I shouldn’t have asked you… like you said! Its YOUR story and YOU decide who has more „page time“ and who deserves to be written about. But instead of being an asshole and ignoring my ask you were so respectful and said so many reasonable points that I understood and accepted your opinion!

I don’t want you to feel bad. Some people are genuinely curious, and those people (like you) bother me a lot less. Because I get it. She’s not normally a disliked character. But there are those of us who just don’t have any interest in her or don’t like her.

It’s just a question I get asked often.

You are so right. Nobody goes to an anti-Ron or Ginny or Weasley tumblr or story and ask why or to shit on the author. Or if Ron is put in the background as a friend and Hermione is portrayed as the bestie, nobody bats an eye. I think that’s what bugs me the most.

I had someone who would rant on my page anytime I said something even remotely negative about Hermione. I blocked their account and their second account so I don’t have to deal with it. Most times, people don’t really argue. But I get a lot of reviews and asks asking questions or people who are upset that I underutilize her. A lot of the time I just delete and ignore, not giving it any attention.

I just got a shitty anon review today that I ended up deleting ranting and raving at me because of Hermione in Brumous and saying my portrayal of Harry and Ron was awful. And I just had enough. And I needed to vent.

But honestly, I remember your ask and you were kind and respectful. I don’t mind questions. It just gets exhausting sometimes. More often than not, they’re not respectful.

I am just trying to establish some good boundaries. Some people in the fandom need to learn how to respect boundaries. That’s very, very important.

Hi!! Thank you for this ask because I didn't even realise the lists had come out yet. Wow. I'm blown. How are H*rringrove and j*ncy on the list but not Stancy? Two objectively messed up ships (especially h*rringrove. like j*ncy is more subtly wack but H*rrngrove is just straight up messed up) made it over a ship with two people who care about each other and want the best for each other and support each other. like, the ship where a guy non-consensually took pictures of a girl naked and had them developed at a school where others could see, and the ship where a racist guy who abused his little sister almost beat a guy to death, make the list, but not the cute little second chance romance?? Again, why are people so offended by Stancy???

Also on the note of Steve, yeah, it's so sad that he was on the list of most popular tags and he's so well-loved yet people would want him with someone so toxic. It's like, do you really love him at that point? Idk about that.

Now, some backstory:

Backstory~

I was coming back from holiday in Port U Gal (it was nice, other than the fact i burned to death a lot) and decided HEY! I DOWNLOADED THE LAST EPISODE OF XTALE TO WATCH ON THE PLANE! I SHOULD DO THAT!

Before this, I had slowly been dragging myself through xtale (adhd means i needed to spread it out). I liked it, other than the fact I had no idea what was going on 30% of the time. Anyway.

So I watched Xtale episode the last, and suddenly Sans was relevant despite only having about two speaking roles beforehand. And suddenly he and CharaFrisk were claiming to be besties. And suddenly FriskChara tried to make him kill them bc... it would force XGaster into reseting, weakening him (i think).

All of a sudden everyone's memories were back and they were about to kick XGaster's ass. WONDERFUL, thought me. THIS CUNT'S HAD IT COMING FOR TEN EPISODES. But then GUESS WHO SUDDENLY DEVELOPS MARY SUE SUPERPOWERS AND DESTROYS THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, BECAUSE... I genuinely do not know.

Did he feel CharaFrisk betrayed him by overwriting him? Maybe, but I think their actions were justified. They didn't see any other way out and they genuinely thought sans would be willing to help bc theyre besties for some reason.

Did he feel for Gaster bc he raised him? Valid enough, but if that's the case why did Papyrus (who was also raised by XGaster), Mr Spare a Genocidal Maniac, join the Gaster torture?

And again, WHY WAS HE THAT OP? There is no explanation for where those powers came from and I think that it is ridiculous he destroyed everyone and everything with full control over his powers, and then had the gall to wail about it. Like dude. No one was forcing you to do that?? Jeez.

And then Ink, who somehow failed to notice the Ten Variations of Hell Gaster created despite multiversal watch being his LITERAL JOB, comes in like. Oh! Hi sans variant in a destroyed universe! You're invited to the main plotline now! ;D

Wow.

Nothing against Ink, but according to the poll runner server, Ink's inaction is kind of a thing that happens a lot in Underverse. Rip.

The hate club will be a discord server, the link to which doesn't even exist yet. This is mostly a post to see if people are interested. If not, and I'm right about everyone's undying love for him then that's okay! I'll delete the post and move on with my life.

i am tired too, bestie!

i will never lead a hate campaign, if you are someone who finds comfort in the series and you've acknowledged how problematic both the source material and the artist is, then do whatever you wanna do! you can go and write the characters and do whatever you want to do, i guess.

i don't believe in the performative bullshit a lot of people do on here. i think a lot of people learned their activism through tumblr and sometimes even through fandom, which gives people a tendency to think that the tumblr activism is much more important than it actually is. instead of protesting and writing to your local government and being involved in grassroots movements to change the world you live in, people will project their progressive values onto things that it's not relevant to! when writing fiction, it is FICTION, writing a character does not mean writing yourself. ooc =/= ic. you can write an evil fucked up villain without being that way yourself, and even without supporting any of that villains actions.

for example, hannibal is one of my favorite fictional characters ever, i have written fanfiction about him. does that mean i support cannibalism in real life? FUCK NO!

that being said, for me personally, the harry potter series has been thoroughly tainted. let me explain why:

1. when i was a child and first read the books, i admit i was naive enough to not spot all the serious problems at first. as soon as i was able to spot those problems, they started to make me feel uncomfortable. the racist stereotypes are not written to be subverted and debunked, they are perpetuating them further. i mean, yeah, CHO CHANG? yikes. i just can't look past them anymore, unfortunately.

2. jk rowling herself. i know that she is more problematic than the transphobia, but let me be clear about why that's the most important to me: i am trans non binary myself, and people like her are why i don't feel safe to fully come out to everyone in my life. also, she is actively participating in and funding anti transgender movements. any money that goes to her is allowing her to fund this, therefore i will never ever again participate in the fandom, even if when i was a kid, harry potter was incredibly important to me.

it's up to you whether you agree or disagree with me, but this is my stance on it all! i don't want to hate on people who still enjoy it, because i spend my energy in better ways. i am involved in local pride organisations where i can actively support real poc and trans people by organising events, writing to politicians about legislation changes, and building a loving community, it is much more fulfilling than policing what people do on tumblr will ever be.

Stancy- you know me. I love Steve. I love Nancy. Which is exactly why I can't in good conscious dare ship them together! Nancy's whole thing of relating him to Barb's death (valid) is word on its own if you don't throw in the fact that Steve super cool dream directly contradicts everything Nancy wants in life! Neither of them should have to compromise their LIFE around accommodating the other! You can say what you want about "they still like eachother romantically" which isn't even really true imo but had it ever occurred to you that sometimes people can feel romantically and and decide that a friendship would do them more good? Which isn't to say they are super close friends either because honestly their friendship has gotten the least amount of attention by the writers. -20/10 romo and 7/10 potential friendship that we will never get to see on screen.

Jancy- I honestly could not care less whether they are endgame their unbreakable bond etc etc doesn't care whether they're friends or dating 6/10

Jargyle- 10/10 how does it feel to be the most perfect ship in the world? Pl, QP, romo, alterous, whatever it is these two mean the world to me

Stonathan- question why? I'm sure it's cute I just don't understand the origin of the hype. What's it ABOUT for y'all?

Boyce- wait actually this might have been my first ST ship not elmax.. anyways they're adorable and I totally hated the way they did the love triangle thing. Hopper being annoying distracted me from Bob being the coolest guy in the world.

Jopper- I guess I'm cool with them now but I was so anti jopper in S2 not because I'm invested in the love triangle I fucking hate love triangles but because Hopper was insufferable in seasons two and three and Joyce had like no boundaries in season three that got weird because ofc the writers decided to build up their canon in the most annoying way possible. Maybe they could have been an 8/10 if ST writers had fucking tried at all before season four but now they're closer to a 4.5/10 for me tbh but go back to season one where their friendship was pretty cool and they've known eachother forever and all that- super fucking sweet 8/10 points taken off because I just generally find Hopper annoying (as a person not as a character I get how he's important to the story and blah blah)

Boycer- since the suffers never ruined it I mean wrote it and I can imagine them however I want- polyamorous Joyce with her two boyfriends is a 10/10

Edissy- I genuinely thought this was a joke 2/10 romo 7/10pl

Joyren- not to be a Karen hater but I kinda hate Karen 1/10

I didn’t really have an opinion on him throughout the series, then I read the Illustrated Guide and decided I liked him - if only for how he handled the Sam/Emily clusterfuck and REVIVED her after she was hurt. 1. Ride or die ship (your otp): Harringrove

2. Most annoying ship: Mileven

3. Second favorite ship: probably mungrove (bonus points if I get the best of both worlds and it ends up as harringroveson)

4. Favorite platonic relationship: Either stobin or elmax. They're both amazing <3

5. Underrated ship: gonna go with elmax again for this one. Or Keg Boys. I feel like they don't get as much love as they deserve.

6. Overrated ship: normally I would say steddie, but I also love them, too, so I'm gonna say ronance. I can see it, but at the same time... meh?

7. One thing I would change in canon: a lot of the random, unneeded deaths. Bob, Billy, Alexei, Benny, Barb, Chrissy? I feel like none of those needed to happen for the plot to move along, and even if they did, like they didn't have to make them like an "Oh well, they're dead :/" thing. Like, they didn't deserve that. And even if they didn't do that, the way the other characters reacted to the deaths was kinda shallow, too. Like Nancy losing Barb would broken my heart a lot more if they didn't use her mourning as a plot device to make her lose Steve and hook up with Jonathan.

8. Something canon did right: the character dynamics. The way they had the kids fighting over petty shit while bad things were happening, how Dustin didn't have a dad so he latched onto Steve as an older brother type positive influence, the way Hopper had to get used to being a dad again and ask Joyce for help? All of that was just beautifully done.

9. A thing I'm proud of creating for the Fandom PLEASE BRAG ABOUT YOURSELF I WANT TO SEE/READ YOUR ART: All of my works on Ao3, but probably my favorite (at the moment) is my fic So Give Him Inches and Feed Him Well or my six fic series Cool To Hate.

10. A character who is perfect to me (wouldn't change a thing): Max, Lucas, Dustin and Will. They're all so sweet and funny and I love them.

11. The character I relate to the most and why: normally I would say Billy, but lately it's been more Max. She's stuck in a house with a jerk of an older brother who goes off like a volcano over the littlest things, though most of the time he's dormant unless he wants to annoy her, and she has to witness him and the only father figure she has fighting all the time. Getting into screaming matches, sometimes getting physical, and while in my situation it's more the son causing problems for the father, it's still bad. The only reprieve I get is when I'm out with my friends, and even though I still care about both of them, I'm starting to lose that love for one of them (in her case Neil, in my case my brother) because of how they treat everyone else and acts like everything is normal afterwards.

12. The character I hate the most and why: Karen Fucking Wheeler. How she can go from being a concerned, doting mother in season one to pretty much a sexual predator in the span of a few seasons, I'll never know. I could understand if she cheated on Ted and went after someone her own age, but the fact that she went after a boy no older than her daughter just makes me sick. And yes, Billy flirted with her, too, but come on. He's a misguided 17-18 year old abused kid looking for any kind of affection wherever he can get it. And Karen is the adult. She should fucking know better.

13. Something I've learned from the fandom: How to politely disagree with people and kill them with kindness. That's why I have an anti's ask pinned to the top of my blog, because I want people to know that I don't care who or what they like, so I'll respect them, but if they come onto my blog actively trying to start shit, I will not fucking stand for it :)

And the thing is, I love ot3s and polycules! I ship plenty of of non-canon ships across my various fandoms! And I really don’t care about “arrr sacred marriage vows must never be broken!” And I’m always down for interspecies romances. (Durondisa, anyone?)

And I absolutely hate when a woman’s significance gets reduced to being some guy’s daughter/mother/wife, in fiction and irl.

It’s just — it’s all the things together, you know. It’s the fact that, with all of Charlie Vickers’s charisma, I’m just not that into Halbrand. It’s the ‘Halbrand is Sauron’ truthers everywhere. [SPOILER EDIT Looks like I gotta eat crow on that one!] It’s that Celeborn’s chief sin appears to be just existing. It’s the constant “well I guess Celeborn could be okay but only if malewife/trophy husband!”

And above all, it’s the framing of all this as a progressive thing.

Because sure, there are plenty of antis and haters and losers and chuds who hate seeing Galadriel having any degree of independence, and want a canonical husband to “tame” her and all that gross shit. I can acknowledge that. But the way that so much of the RoP fandom has responded by knee-jerk dissing Celeborn and holding up Haladriel as a better pairing to ship instead is such a drag!

Because like. If what we like is for Galadriel to have a partner who almost definitely understands that Darkness pull that she feels, Celeborn is either an Exile like her or from Doriath, both of which mean he probably gets it. If what we want is someone who’s an equal to her without upstaging her, how about someone who rules a realm alongside her and yet defers to her when she points out he’s wrong? If what we want is a long term battle partner, how about someone who she says has “fought the long defeat” with her? If what we want is someone she respects as a worthy spouse, how about someone she called “wise” and “a giver of gifts?”

And if what we want is for her to be a girlboss who don’t need no man, then why not Míriel why bother shipping her period?

The point is, if ‘progressive’ is what this is about, then Celedriel no less ‘feminist’ a ship than Haladriel is. And I wish people would be honest and stop pretending otherwise.

Look, I’m not saying Celedriel is a morally better ship, or that Haladriel is problematic; I don’t believe either of those things. I’m more objecting to the fandom environment that’s popped up around Haladriel, because it’s no fun for me.

Especially because Celeborn antis aren’t new.

All of this shit ppl are throwing at Celeborn now? It’s all a retread from when the first film trilogy came out twenty years ago, almost verbatim! The two essays that sold me on Celeborn, ‘Celeborn Unplugged’ and ‘Prince Valium/That Tall Fellow Next to Galadriel,’ were written in response to the exact same, equally prevalent ‘lol Celeborn sux’ attitude (except everyone was shipping Galadriel and Gandalf then).

Truly there ain’t nothin new under the sun.

I just wish the RoP fandom around me would do the same. “The ship you like doesn’t make you better, sweaty” That goes for Haladriel as much as Celedriel. “Celeborn’s not gonna fuck you, ya lil incel” Neither will Halbrand 🤷🏾‍♀️

(And hey, I like the idea of Galadriel dumping Míriel or Elendil in Celeborn’s lap like “we got a human gf/bf!” and Celeborn going “nice 😎” meanwhile Míriel/Elendil is like 😮. But anyway.)

2. Most annoying ship: Byler and steddie. Not because of the characters per se, it’s THAT part of the fandom that made both ships annoying as hell for me.

3. Second favourite ship: Metalsandwich, buckleway, and hellcheer.

4. Favourite platonic relationship: Robin and Steve. They’re besties~.

5. Underrated ship: Buckleway. Ronance seemed to took over after s4 but nah, bluckeway owns my heart.

6. Overrated ship: Steddie. You can thanks that part of the fandom for it. They created this completely out of canon Eddie that’s suppossed to be super brave and strong and all this shit that’s completely headcanon and take it as canon. I used to like steddie a lot when I came back to the ST fandom and those fans pushed me away (because most of them are insane and are antis/racist dicks who need to touch some grass).

7. One thing i would change in canon: All season 4, including bringing Billy back being in the Upside Down.

8. Something canon did right: Steve accepting Robin even tho it’s the 80′s and homophobia was the rule at that time.

Robin because of the pressure of living in the closet, scared to come out because of society around, friends and parents, using sarcasm as self defense. Billy because of the abuse he had to go through, I’m not getting into any details but I know what it’s like and I know what it’s like to be so angry at the world for it being a teenager. I guess that’s the reason I want and need to give him a better arc redemption through art and fanfics.

12. Character(-s) i hate the most and why: Neil, duh. Also Brenner.

13. Something i've learned from the fandom: Antis are stupid little shits that don’t care about facts. Also the best part of the fandom is the Billy (also Chrissy) related one for me, because it doesn’t matter what you ship, everything is welcomed as long as you don’t got bashing and hating onto other for no fucking reason. Fiction is FICTION and no person deserves hate for liking a fictional character.

1. If you had to watch one drama forever what would it be?

Okay this is super difficult to answer because I rewatch a lot of shows, but I also get sick of them very easily lol. I think I will go with Old Fashion Cupcake or Cherry Magic for now, but also Minato Shouji Coin Laundry is so good as well. Then there is my precious Sotus and of course 1000 stars. Omg I’m all over the place now 🤦🏻‍♀️

2. If you could change the ending of a drama which one would it be?

I think we all know this one is going to be MODC because we all know it’s the drama that shall not be named lol. Another one would probably be Kieta Hatsukoi. It was just so anti climactic 🙃

So I don’t know if I have a favorite drama but I will say Tian in 1000 Stars and of course my baby Leon in DSN. Also I love Fah in Sky in your Heart. 😍
